Mimosa flowers blooming at Kuramae Jinja. I've always loved mimosa flowers, yet I don't have particularly good memories associated with them. Every year in high school, our male classmates used to gift us girls little bouquets of mimosa flowers for Woman's Day. Nice, you'd say. Well, thing is they were bullies in the end, so it wasn't really nice to receive such a gift from them. Thankfully, this year I was able to see the beautiful mimosa tree in Kuramae Jinja with my bf! Shinjuku's Kabukicho Street is where you will find the world famous Robot Restaurants, Tokyo Nightlife and lots of neon light, which of course is also amazing for photography. This #throwback photo from last March kind of brings back memories from my inaugural trip to Tokyo back in 1990. Yes, I visited Tokyo 30 years ago and seems like a long time ago. However, the sheer neon ambience of Tokyo never did change after 30 years and it still looks the same when I was there last year. Probably shops and so on have, but the beauty about exploring Tokyo is always exploring the unexplored, especially the non-commercial areas, back lanes and so on. A recommended tip would be to travel around Tokyo using the Tokyo Metro subway system with the unlimited day passes, saving you lots of time & money. Plum blossoms at Kameido Sengen shrine 👇 It is said that when prince Yamato Takeru was travelling East, he had to cross the sea. Looking at it, he said loudly that it was so small and quiet that he could have jumped it. Hearing the prince, the sea god got angry and raised a terrible storm that engulfed Yamato Takeru's ship. His wife Tachibana Hime, understanding that the god of the sea wanted her husband's life, decided to jump into the sea, asking the god to take her life instead. Her sacrifice moved the god of the sea who stopped the storm. Tachibana Hime hairpin and comb were washed ashore in the Kameido Sengen shrine area, and kept in the shrine. On the shrine grounds there's a Fujizuka, a representation of Fujisan that you can visit if you have no chance of climbing the real thing.
