Alright, stupid scene idea about my dragonborn man that I have that I'm going to put under a readmore since its about Ronan's anatomy and its long:

Actually first, context 1: I hate the dragonborn genitals in game. They suck. They're goofy. I know in lore, dragonborns are technically mammalian, but they also lay eggs and shit, so I'm ignoring human cock and balls much like im ignoring the fact that in game, I cant give my dragon man a strongman chubby bod. For any writing purposes, Ronan has hemipenes and they are inside of him until they aren't.

Context 2: in lore, it seems like by the time BG3 happens, dragonborn have only been around for like...100 years. They are still a pretty new thing to the planet of Toril, and especially to the continent of Faerun, where the game takes place. Not new enough that in a cultural hotbed like Baldurs Gate that you'd be shocked to see a humanoid lizard, but still fresh enough they're still weird and their anatomy isn't common knowledge outside of rumors, erotica stories, and still as of yet published scientific journals.

ANYWAYS

The dumb idea is that since Ronan's a clean boy, in Act 1, first few nights camping together, it becomes pretty clear he doesn't have much shame around his body or who sees it as he strips down near the water to clean off. He's just going to do the thing, people watching be damned, and thankfully the new company he's been keeping all politely look the other way.

Except Gale, who establishes a habit on night one of talking Ronan’s earholes off while he’s washing up. Why is he doing it? What is he up to? What are they talking about?

All questions had by one paranoid member of the party who decides to come over on night three of this to see what’s going on. Gale’s sitting on a rock, nearly falls off it when Astarion makes his appearance. He’s a little pink in the ears, sheepish and stumbling over his words when he explains they were discussing the merits of taking a deal with a cambion like Raphael.

Ronan grunts, back to them, water above his hips and clearly finishing up his washing as Astarion makes pointed comment about how this seems like an interesting occasion to have such a conversation with someone. Gale stutters out weakly that it's not like they’re doing anything else and that its just an efficient use of their time. It starts a small back and forth about Gale's real intentions that Gale is extremely losing but that argument ends rather quickly as Ronan walks out the water, nude and clearly ignoring them while he reaches for his clothes and some dry rags he left near where Gale was sitting, presumably before he was sitting there.

Astarion's mouth clamps firmly shut as he sees a strange lack of…anything discernible between the cleric’s legs. There was already an idea in his mind of who he could seduce in the camp to secure his safety here and part of this charade was to discover what he may have to work in order to do so. But now…

Gale doesn't seem bothered. In fact, he's only gotten redder as he hands Ronan a cloth to wipe down with and continues their conversation from where Astarion interrupted it. Astarion leaves them to it, high tailing it to the rest of the party eating, where he immediately starts asking if anyone's noticed anything strange about Ronan.

Everyone has.

It starts a heated debate. What's going on down there? There's no penis. No vagina. Just a bulge under some wrinkles. How do dragonborns become dragon…borned?

It's mostly between Astarion, Wyll, and Lae'zel as Shadowheart is present but silent and making a sour face about the whole thing. It isn't until Lae'zel suggests, gleefully, Ronan is perhaps a eunuch or maybe castrated for some crime in his past and Wyll wonders if perhaps this is part of being a worshiper of the platinum dragon that Shadowheart speaks up. She snaps that no, that has nothing to do with Bahamut as far as she knows and also this is a very childish and unnecessary discussion to be having about one of their group.

Until Astarion interrupts to ask in a small panic if this is part of having the tadpole in their brains and what if he's slowly starting to turn into one of those things, and that gets Shadowheart’s full, horrified participation. The conversation turns to that; what if this will happen to all of them and is that actually what's happening? Should they be worried? Wouldn't it look…smoother?

Gale parts with Ronan as the dragonborn is now dress and intends to journal, Gale getting shooed with a glare and yet there's a skip in his step during his short trek back to the party, where he is immediately subsumed into the conversation. This makes him giddy as all hell when he realizes what the topic of conversation is and he’s quick to dismiss the more outlandish notions, his too many hours reading ahem non-academic works on the anatomy of various non-humanoid races lending confidence to his lessons on how how their cleric’s whole business probably works. Which is all well and good, until, in the midst of his excited explanation, he lets slip that there is a rumor he’s read, never confirmed of course, heavens forbid he ever ask anyone something like this, that male dragonborns could, perhaps, have a second appendage tucked away.

And then all hell break’s loose again, Wyll standing up and stating he’s going to go do anything else while the other four continue a heated argument about that. Across the camp, with a light spell and his journal in hand, Ronan steadfastly ignores the conversation he’s been catching snippets of. It's not the first time a company he’s joined has taken special interest in parts of him and, if he lives through all this, it probably won’t be the last.

If any of them get the pleasure of finding out, then they should feel so honored.

Professor Sada and Turo - Gift Giving

It sure ain’t quality time- Normally the professors are too into their projects to really acknowledge anything else, but if they have time they like to give you gifts. Usually they get you stuffed animals and clothes, but occassionally they will let you foster a pokemon from a different time period. It helps keep you company while they are gone. After being together for a certain period of time, they will even give you a special device that lets you talk to an AI of them, that way you aren’t as lonely

Clavell - Words of Affirmation

Clavell is very old fashioned when it comes to love. I’m talking chocolates, candlelit dinners, all that jazz. But his absolute favorite thing to do is use his words. He loves to just tell you how much he loves you as often as possible, so that you never forget. Any little thing you do will be met with appreciation. Clavell is so used to this that he has accidentally done this while you were both working a few times (gaining a lot of hoots and hollers from students)

Jacq - Physical Touch

Jacq is a simple man, cuddling is the way to his heart. He loves nothing more than to come home from work and fall into your arms on the couch. The warmth from you is the best feeling in the world, especially during winter. The more skin touching the better in his opinion. When you can’t cuddle, he loves just doing soft PDA like holding hands and kissing your cheeks. Also, Jacq tends to sleep in a bit (not on purpose usually) and is definitely the type to hold you in bed and beg you to just stay. Just 5 more minutes!

Miriam - Words of Affirmation

Miriam is naturally pretty confident about most things, but knows how it feels to not be. Her whole ordeal with becoming a Health Teacher highlighted her troubles with it. So she loves to shower you with not only affection and appreciation, but also encouragment. Sometimes she will bring up things you’ve forgotton about. No matter what you do or pursue in life, Miriam will be behind you cheering you the whole way!

Tyme - Quality Tyme

Pun aside, Tyme really enjoys doing different activites with you. She will often look online and ask friends about couple activities you two can do together. Some of her favorite things to do with you are cooking, yoga, and nature walks. If you have any suggestions she is ALWAYS open for new things! As long as you are doing it together she’s fine. Also, work can get overwhelming for her so spending some quality time with you always mellows her out. She dreads leaving for work everyday, but anticipates getting home to you

Raifort - Words of Affirmation

One thing that Raifort prioritizes in life is verbal communication. Especially when it comes to your passions in life. Having someone listen to and be interested in her rants about history makes her feel on top of the world. So whenever you infodump or just get super passionate she listens intently. Raifort will always listen to you and give you advice, and of course just... well, listen! She likes to bring up your previous conversations and compliment you on how in depth you were, or how interesting you made them sound. Communication is her best way of loving you

Salvatore - Words of Affirmation

As a language teacher, he expresses everything through words. He will string together beautiful sentences just describing how much he loves you. As he tells in his class, it’s important to tell others how you feel and how you care. So he’ll always vocalize his appreciation for whatever you do! Salvatore also enjoys mixing in different languages as a special treat (especially if you love how he sounds when he does)

Dendra - Physical Touch

As both a gym teacher and a physical trainer, Dendra adores physical touch! She loves holding you and touching you and everything inbetween. Her favorite thing to do is exercise with you and do couple activities. Unlike most, her touches are more rough, but in a comforting way. You can always count on her to be sturdy and strong. No matter what happens, she will always be there to catch you or pull you up into a tight hug

Hassel - Words of Affirmation

Oh my fucking god this man won’t SHUT UP (affectionate). No matter what you do he is ready to talk your ear off. Do something well? Expect a rush of compliments and praise. Feel sad or insecure? Expect a rant about how you are as strong as a dragon and shouldn’t give up! It can be a bit... much, but it comes from a place of love and adoration. When he isn’t going on full rants, Hassel also enjoys just simply telling you he loves you. Especially when you are cuddling, he loves hitting you with those 3 words softly

Saguaro - Acts of Service

Saguaro will do pretty much anything for you. Cooking meals? Patching holes in your clothing? Doing the laundry? Giving you a deep massage? This man is on it! He even makes sure to pack you lunch every day. You may feel bad, but he assures you he is doing this of his own volition. Saguaro loves to do things for you as a way of expressing his love. All he wants is for you to be comfy, relaxed, and happy! Sometimes when you come home from a long day, you’ll see a set of fresh clothes on the bed and a bath ready for you (you could get him to join you if you convince him~)

Arven - Quality Time

After being neglected for his entire childhood, Arven really appreciates someone who will just be with him of their own will. If someone goes to his dorm/house on purpose just to spend time with him? He might cry. It is one of the main pillars in his mind for a good relationship, and extends the same priorities to you. The moment you ask him to come over he is already halfway there, sandwich in hand. Arven obviously loves to cook together (even teach you if you ask) but he also loves to read manga together. He may have his issues, but just make sure to be there for him, he will be thankful for the rest of his life

Nemona - Pokemon Battling Quality Time

We all know how clingy Nemona is, and when you start dating it just gets WORSE. She will barely leave your side and will always want to do things with you. She just loves spending time with you she loves you so much!! Spending time together is incredibly important to her, it really makes her feel like you love her. If you tell her to back off she will, but you can expect lots of pouting and lots of hugs when you see her next. And don’t get me started on Pokemon Battling...

Penny - Quality Time

Penny is very introverted and doesn’t really like most things that go into a relationship. She isn’t one for physical contact, she doesn’t like gifts, she’s socially awkward so she can’t express herself, and doing things for her don’t mean much. The one thing that she surprisingly enjoys the most is quality time. After being a recluse for so long she never thought she would want to spend time with someone else, but after meeting you it changed. Penny knows she can be a bit withdrawn, but a good way to know she cares is if she just stays in the same room as you (kind of like a cat). Playing games in comfortable silence or watching an anime together is her favorite way to spend time together (she will need to recharge afterwards, but genuinely enjoys what you do together)

Giacomo - Words of Affirmation

Giacomo may love holding you close, but his favorite way to show his love is by showing his appreciation as often as possible. He never got much appreciation in his life, especially during his run of student council president. It felt awful, so he wants to make sure you never feel like that. He loves to have your input on his songs, and will always thank you profusely for your help, often times adding a special credit in the description. Giacomo loves to shower you in praise, but if you do the same to him? He’s putty in your hands, he will do basically anything for you

Mela - Quality Time

Mela has a hard time keeping relationships. Being bullied has made her hard and cold, but the way to melt her heart is to just... be there for her. She’ll be difficult at first, but eventually she will get emotional once she realizes how long you’ve stayed by her side. It means the world that despite her stubborness you stuck by. And this is also how she shows love to you. She doesn’t know what to do in relationships, so she likes to just spend time with you. Often times she just prefers sitting in comfortable silence watching a movie, that’s the dream. And maybe you could convince her to hold your hand every now and then

Atticus - Gifts

Even before you got together Atticus gave you tons of gifts. It’s his favorite way to show he cares, both romantically and platonically (just ask the rest of Team Star). He always listens very carefully when you talk, always taking notes when you mention something you desire. His specialty is sewing custom clothes for you, but he will also just buy small accessories he found in stores that he thought would look cute on you. If he’s feeling especially romantic, he will even write eloquent poems for you

Ortega - Gifts

I mean... is this even a question? He’s a spoiled lil rich boy, of course he will shower you with gifts! It doesn’t even have to be a special occassion, sometimes he just surprises you with a gift randomly. It may seem like he’s just materialistic, but everything he buys you has a reason. You once broke a shoe so now he bought you 30 pairs, you like tea so he bought you a gold-plated fancy tea set, you like monkeys so he bought you a zoo. It is definitely a lot, but that’s just how Ortega shows how much he loves you. He wants to spend his money on you, in his eyes you deserve the world

Eri - Acts of Service

Eri is already well known to be a defender for her friends, but with you she is on high alert. You are so special, you can’t do anything that may hurt you! She’ll help you with whatever you are doing, sometimes doing it for you before hand. Eri doesn’t want you to burn your hand cooking so why not do it herself! She loves to do things for you, big or small, no questions asked. It’s the best way to show love in her eyes. Sometimes you may need to remind her to just relax and sit down for a few minutes, but rest assured she will be back up in no time

While Katy loves to give you pastries as gifts, she mostly enjoys doing things for you in general. Whenever you forget your lunch she will happily cook it for you. If you have plants she will always water them and keep them healthy. Scared of bugs and you have a giant Spidops in your house? She’ll help take it outside (while also teasing you a bit). Katy will even train your pokemon if you don’t have the time to do it yourself. Seeing your smile when you see the special macarons she put in your lunch makes her heart so full and warm

Brassius - Gifts

As an artist, Brassius shows his love thought his work. You are the perfect inspiration, the golden ratio of subjects! Everytime he looks at you he gets new ideas and inspirations for art projects. And any gifts he creates for you have special meaning behind them. Paintings of the place of your first date, a casting of your hands holding each other, even just origami of your favorite flowers. Brassius will always create things for you, purely out of love and adoration

Iono - Quality Time

Being a streamer, Iono spends a LOT of time online. It’s her job she kinda doesn’t have a choice. So when you got together she felt conflicted on what to do. Whenever she isn’t streaming she loves to just hang out with and go on dates, but what about all the other times? Well, she’ll just bring you on stream! In her mind she has the best of both worlds. She can spend her day with her beloved and still get those sweet sweet views, baby. But trust her when she says she isn’t doing it just for the clout, she just really likes you a whole lot

Kofu - Acts of Service

Even thought Kofu is pretty much every love language rolled into one, his favorite way to show love is acts of service! He loves to make you the best seafood dishes known in town, always using the best ingredients. No less for his partner! He’ll also do shopping for you every week (as long as he doesn’t forget his wallet on the way). Even little things like cleaning out the fridge he will happily do. Although he mainly does acts of service, don’t think Kofu doesn’t love all the other languages! Give him a hug god dammit!!

Larry - Physical Touch

Larry is a simple man, and is the same when it comes to love. He says he loves you and buys you flowers, but those just feel like basic requirements. Not to say he doesn’t mean well, but to him, true love comes with contact. He’s not good with words, so instead he touches you. He hugs you from behind while you work, he holds your hand constantly, places his hand on your lower back, stuff like that. He may not say it often, but when he touches you ever so gently, you know he loves you

Ryme - Words of Affirmation

Ryme is a rapper, words and speaking her mind are kind of her thing. No matter what you do, she will always make sure to properly thank you and express her gratitude. Even if you just make some scrambled eggs for her she will never forget to thank you. Ryme wants you to know that she adores everything you do, and she loves you is so many ways. When she isn’t telling you straight out that she appreciates you, Ryme will write several raps about it and perform them for you

Tulip - Quality Time

Being a makeup artist and a gym leader doesn’t give Tulip a lot of time alone, so when she manages to get some, she spends it with you! She loves to try new makeup products on you or grooming your pokemon, but honestly even just being in the same room with you is enough. There is something about just... existing with you that makes her happy. You can both work on separate projects and it will still feel special. Tulip knows she isn’t around much, that’s why quality time together means so much to her

Grusha - Physical Touch

Grusha is someone that hates the cold. And do you know what you have? HEAT. And Grusha is not ashamed to steal that heat. When he isn’t using you as a human heater, Grusha still likes to just be in contact with you. He especially loves using his hands. Holding hands, stroking your face, running his fingers through your hair, all that good stuff. Words can be confusing and misconstrued, so why not ignore all that and just kiss?

Rika - Words of Affirmation

Rika can be a bit of a tease, as she loves to push your buttons and poke fun. But this all comes from a place of love, and she never forgets to genuinely thank you for what you do. Thanking you for last nights dinner, thanking you for the flowers you got her, etc. She also adores complimenting you. Not just because she wants you to know how awesome you are, but also to see the blush on your face. It’s so cute how quickly you become a flustered mess around her. It’s one of the greatest pleasures in her life

‘’Accidentally’’ walking in on their S/O (you) masturbating (but you never had sex together… yet) (Part 2)

Laventon (I can’t find a good gif of him😭)

- He knows he should be a gentleman and leave, but he’s just too enticed. He always does his best to be a perfect gentleman with you, but he’s been trying to hint at wanting to go further in your relationship for weeks now, and maybe his approach was too subtle, but you didn’t seem to catch on.

- He just loves you so much, he can’t help but having some desires for intimacy. And seeing you like this… but of course, he’s still a gentleman, so he make his presence known by clearing his throat and, for once, directly say what he wants, instead of just hinting: ‘’My Love… I would like to make love to you… Would you let me?’’

- If you refuses, he understand, but can’t help feeling a bit hurt. It’ll pass eventually, but he do end up avoiding you for a few days because things are just a bit too awkward for now.

- If you accept, you’ll definitely have a great time. Laventon is a very attentive lover and a quick learner; it doesn’t takes him long to find what will make you moan for him, pure adoration in his eyes as he sees the effects of his touches and his kisses on your body.

Beni (Can’t find a good gif of Beni either! 😭)

- Accident? Oh no. This is no accident. Beni heard you way before he even got close to the bedroom and walked in knowing full well what was waiting for him. - ‘’I can guarantee you, I can do a much better job than your hands. All you have to do is ask’’ His free hand is ghosting over your body, not touching yet, waiting for your answer. If you ask him to leave, he apologize curtly and leave, but for the next few days, it’s pretty easy to see that he’s still a bit annoyed and he’ll eventually ask for explanations for your refusal.

- If you do ask him to help you, a wicked smile appears on his face as he start teasing your body with his free hand and his mouth until you’re begging for more. And then he makes it a point to bring you to climax repeatedly until you’re an overstimulated mess under him. ‘’Such a good Pet for me! See, I told you. Much better than your hands.’’

Clavell

- ‘’… Are you trying to give me a heart attack, my Dear?’’ Flustered old man. Look away almost immediately, but his legs refuse to move and he keep accidentally glancing at you. He isn’t sure how to feel; after all, you’re the one who told him he could come in the bedroom and he finds you like that? Almost too much for his heart.

- Clavell isn’t the kind to just walk in the bedroom unannounced, so in this case, it was on purpose on your part; you’ve been hinting at wanting to go all the way for nearly a month, without success and you wanted to entice and fluster him. Well, mission accomplished. As his legs finally obey him again, he stumbles to the bed, a blush on his cheeks but a determined look in his eyes.

- ‘’I apologize for not catching on your needs and desires sooner, my Dear. Let me make it up to you.’’ He removes his jacket and neck piece (or whatever that thing around his neck is called) before climbing on the bed and kissing you, his hands gently caressing your body.

- Clavell just hope he isn’t too rusty; it has been many years since he last got intimate with someone, but as it turns out, he was worrying for nothing. You make him feel much younger and your reactions boost his confidence and makes him bolder.

Jacq

- ‘’Oh… Oh my…’’ Jacq stares at you for a moment, too surprised to move, then finally look away, his face a deep shade of red. He can’t stop a nervous chuckle to escape his lips. ‘’I am so sorry, sweetheart! I should’ve knocked! I should… probably leave now, uh?’’

- He turn back and take a few steps, but then stops. ‘’Unless… Ah… I can’t believe I am going to say that, but… I would love to… help you… if you’d let me…’’ He waits for your answer, his heart beating wildly in his chest.

- If you refuse his offer, he apologize again and leave, slightly disappointed, but understanding. However, he will probably suggest being more intimate soon enough.

- If you accept, Jacq is overjoyed and make sure that you won’t regret it. He’s very attentive to your reactions and seems fascinated by them. He make sure to leave you completely satisfied, and is pretty quick to suggest doing this again soon.

Brassius

- Brassius is… a bit too excited to see you in such a state, to be honest. ‘’Oooooh! My Muse! You are so beautiful right now, absolutely ravishing! I would’ve never guessed that you would grace me with such an incredible spectacle!’’

Larry

As in, two times Arven tries and fails to ask you out and one time he cooks for you and it seems to go pretty well?

He keeps hyping himself up for nothing, and it's starting to get frustrating at this point.

Arven is determined to ask you out. On a date. Properly.

It's not his fault you're, like, one of the most well-liked people in the country or whatever. Geez.

First he'd caught up with you in Cortondo, purely by coincidence. He thought, hey, it'd be nice to grab some pastries together, then maybe you could sit together and watch the sunset over the fields...maybe hold hands? In reality, it went a bit more like this.

"H-hey! Little buddy!" Arven called as he jogged to catch up with you. The sound of his voice stopped you in your tracks.

"Hey, big buddy!" You replied, pulling him into a hug that Arven did his best not to melt into.

"Funny bumping into you here. Say, would you, uh... Maybe? Well, have you tried... There's this place I heard about here..." As he's fumbling over his words, which isn't entirely caused by the fact that you're smiling up at him so sweetly and wonderfully, and just, ugh, did you have to look at him like he was so...so...worthy?

"Well, hello, champion!" A voice startles Arven from continuing on. Some woman dressed in a patisserie get-up was approaching the two of you.

"Katy!" You greet her with a hug too, and he knows it's dumb, but Arven laments a little internally when it seems like there's no difference between the hug you give her and the one you gave him.

"What brings you to Cortondo today?" She asks you, smiling kindly. Her eyes flit with some strange sense of...something. Knowing? To Arven, then back to you. "A date?"

You both blush applin red immediately, but Arven is too lost in his own thoughts and the sound of the ocean suddenly flooding his ears to pick up on how you reply.

He thinks he sees Katy giggle, and he then he's being led by the arm to the same patisserie he'd been hoping to ask you to.

A few minutes later, the two of you are walking away from Katy's establishment with an assorted box of treats, provided on the house to Katy's favorite little champion, and Arven's fairly certain the both of you are still in a daze.

He doesn't even get to hold your hand like he'd want to ask.

Ugh! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

The next time is a week or so later in Medali. He's ready to try to ask you out again, and he has a location set. This time he KNOWS. This restaurant isn't owned by a gym leader. So it should be safe. He checked.

"Howdy!" He calls out, drawing your attention away from the pokemon egg you were currently polishing. Howdy? Ugh. What was he? Some backwoods Unovan?

"Arven!" You greet him with that same beaming smile, and he feels his knees go a little wobbly under the weight of his massive backpack.

"Whatcha got there?" He asks you, gesturing to the egg. It looks like it's wiggling a tiny bit. Surely that thing is going to hatch soon.

"Oh!" You look back to the egg in your hands and stroke it softly, and the sweetness in your eyes as you look at the unborn thing just about kills Arven. He has to clench and unclench his fists to prevent himself from reaching out to touch you. "So, Jacq has me doing some kinda, like...genetics? Fieldwork? Thing? I promised I'd do a check-in with its dad though."

"O-Oh... Its dad?" Somehow, Arven felt his heart break in two. He has no claim on you. Of course. He knows that. Heck. This pokemon isn't even YOURS, biologically speaking. Obviously. But like. Still? Are you, like with the owner of the egg's stud or something?

"Yeah..." You trail off. "I'm supposed to meet up with him, but... I dunno about you. I'm getting kinda hungry. Do you wanna--?"

Arven jumps. "Grab food? Yes! W-with you? Yes! I-! I know a place. It's near here. I can take you. Let's go!" In his haste, he takes your forearm and pulls without thinking, making you stumble and lose your grip on the egg.

It's out of your grasp and tumbling before you can think, and Arven's stomach sinks while his heart lurches into his throat.

He's the one who takes the dive.

Well. It's not a dive, really, just a bit of a lean. He catches himself on his knee, but most importantly, he catches the pokemon egg safely in his hands.

He kneels there with it a moment, mouth agape, not unlike a Goldeen, before slowly looking over to you.

"I'm...so...sorry...!"

To your credit, you're trying not to make a scene. Rather than yell, you get up close and gently remove the egg from Arven's arms. "What were you thinking?!" You hiss under your breath.

Arven deflates and genuinely feels like a kicked puppy. "I wasn't..."

"C'mon," You corral him, still speaking in soft, angry tones, helping him to his feet with one hand while carrying the egg gently with your other arm. "Let's find food."

You end up leading him to the same place he'd actually meant to take you. Small goddamn world that it is.

You both step inside the Treasure Eatery and take a seat at a booth.

"The grilled rice balls are a real favorite here," You offer, still somewhat miffed, but otherwise trying to make pleasant conversation. You then take out your rotom phone and start typing.

"O-Oh...okay. I'll give those a try then." Arven sits in silence for a bit, not quite feeling comfortable enough to dawdle on his phone.

A few minutes after the waiter takes your orders, Arven senses someone approach your table from behind.

"Pardon me."

You perk up immediately, standing and once again hugging the newcomer, who turns out to be a tall, rather plainly dressed man clad in a stiff black suit, a blue tie just barely loosened around his neck.

"Larry!" You greet, thoroughly enthused by his presence.

"Hush," he chides you softly but not unkindly. "If you get loud people might start bugging either of us for a battle, and I've done enough work for the week already."

"Larry, it's Tuesday."

"I know." He says, disentangling himself from you before taking a seat inside the booth, next to your bag. You sit on the other side of him.

"Oh! So, there's the--"

"The egg," Larry says, softly and simply, and this is the closest Arven has seen to a smile from him. His massive bushy eyebrows seem to unknit just a bit and his mouth relaxes as Larry removes the egg from the cradle you made for it from your bag.

"It's making noises in there. Can you hear?" He asks you, holding it up gently for you to press your ear against.

"Oh my gosh! You're right!" You excitedly wiggle in your seat.

Larry finally seems to acknowledge Arven and holds the egg over to him with a gesture giving him permission to have a listen, too.

Arven flushes furiously and shakes his head. "A-aah...n-no thanks..." God. This Larry guy was at least twice your age, why was he so jealous of how happy you were with him? That hug? And the egg? Were you seriously breeding with this guy? Like, pokemon breeding? Clearly not. Right? Yeah. Right. ....right?

Arven took a long sip of his water to distract himself from fuming green thoughts of envy.

"S-so...You're the dad?" He asks.

Larry looks up from the egg which he'd taken back to cradle comfortingly in his arms and gives a half smile, half snort.

"Grandpa, more-like. Jacq wanted to do research on dudunsparce, and the boss offered mine up as stud. I'll probably let my kid raise this one," He gestures to the egg, "once the scientists are all done with it. I just wanted to give my Pokemon a chance to see and be near it. Scents and nurturing and all that."

"I'm just involved for the warmth, step count, and ferrying service to the lab and back." You chime in happily. "But since it's so close to hatching, we figure it should be with its parents now and for the first bit of its life, ya know?"

"Oh..." Arven isn't quite sure what else to say. He doesn't exactly feel better, but maybe he does? Or maybe he's frustrated that he felt jealous? Or still feels kinda jealous?

His gaze falls into his lap and he sits quietly while you talk animatedly with Larry until the food arrives, and you get distracted with stuffing your face (adorably, he has to admit, dammit).

Without you to distract him, Larry looks back to Arven.

"Sorry. I didn't get the chance to ask your name." He offers his hand over the table.

"O-oh!" That jostles him a bit out of his funk. Arven sets down his silverware and shakes Larry's hand. "I'm Arven, sir."

"Mm." Larry nods his assent, taking back his hand and going back to eating. He jerks his head toward you. "This one's mentioned you before."

You splutter, silverware clattering against your plate. "Larry!" If Arven didn't know better, he'd say you were turning red.

"Yup. Pretty crazy about you. Talks about you aaaaaall the time." He says in a complete deadpan.

"He's lying! I talk about all my friends. A normal amount!" You insist, and Arven's certain now that you're definitely a cherubi red from your nose to your ears.

If Arven has also started going red, he wouldn't entirely know. He's currently focused on the sound of rushing water in his ears.

"I, uh... I-I think I'm gonna head out..." He takes out some cash from his wallet, puts it on the table, and leaves, weaving through the other customers as quickly as his bulky backpack allows.

He misses you crying at Larry for scaring Arven away. Larry can only laugh at your pain until someone recognizes you both and goads you into a battle.

Before you leave Medali that night, Larry claps your shoulder and tells you that you should check in with Arven, give him his money back too. He's a good guy.

You nod.

After that whole fiasco, the two of you lay low for several weeks, only sending the occasional meme or laugh reacting to something the other said in the group chat. It still sends a thrill down to Arven's toes to see a notification from you though.

/ayy im near the lighthouse. u around?/

His response is almost instant. Is that bad?

/not far. Why?/

/i like seeing ur face/ you drop a pin with your location.

He's on his way almost immediately, and it's almost sad how into you he is. He wants to scold himself. Like, he feels like he's being strung along, but he just can't help it.

When he finds you about a half hour or so later, you're perched in front of a caved-in cave? There are massive chains strewn on the ground, and your hair is mussed, but you seem otherwise fine.

"You, uh..." He swallows. "You good?"

"...yeah..." You're laying outstretched in front of the former-cave, eyes closed, an ultraball held loosely in your hand. "Just finished up a thing."

He slowly approaches you. "...Are you hungry?"

You exhale slowly through the nose and a smile dawns on your face. "Famished."

Your dragon actually ends up having to haul your sorry ass back to the lighthouse, but it's happy to bother Arven the entire way. Once you're there, you're able to shower and get yourself and your team nice and refreshed. When you come back out to the main living space, Arven's filled it with the smell of cooking food.

He certainly doesn't miss the way you moan as you enter the room.

"Oh my God, Arven!" He feels his ears heat up. "What are you making?"

"It's just some paella. Nothing crazy... I gathered some of the ingredients myself from nearby sources..."

"It smells so good!" You tell him, truthfully. "Can I help at all?" You start searching for an extra apron but don't find one.

"O-oh... Uh... Yeah. Sure? I guess? Um." He glances around the kitchen looking for a task for you. "Could you chop some of these herbs for me?" He gestures with his elbow to a small bowl he'd prepared earlier. "There's a knife in the drawer there, too, just be careful."

You hum a bit as you get to chopping. Some tuneless thing that Arven doesn't recognize, but he's never had much of an ear for music anyway.

"Uh..." He interrupts when he looks over to you. "C-could I actually...?" He gestures to the knife.

You look down confusedly. "Something wrong?"

"You're gonna cut yourself if you're not careful. See," Arven comes up behind you, and he's suddenly reminded of why he's always called you his little buddy. You're so much smaller than him. "If you're holding the--the herbs..." He swallows, and his mind goes a little blank, trying to remember what he was going to say. "Uh...your hands..."

"My hands?" You ask, holding them up, along with the herbs and the knife. That seems to snap him back a bit.

"Yeah. You want to be careful of your fingers... See, if you press the herbs down with a maschiff paw, rather than flat fingers..." He demonstrates, his arms encasing you. "You're less likely to cut yourself. Make sense?"

You copy his gesture. "It's not really intuitive, but I guess?" You give it a few test chops before Arven corrects your technique.

"No, see if you can do it more like a finizen jump rather than just straight up and down. 'Kay?"

"Hmm... Like this."

"You got it," He says, and you can hear the smile form on his lips before you look up to see it yourself.

You lock eyes, and Arven can already feel himself getting overwhelmed. He backs off immediately.

"G-great! You keep at that. We'll use the herbs as garnish for the paella. It'll be done in just a bit."

"W-wait!" You reply, probably a bit louder than strictly needed. You give him a bit of a funny look. "Did you already try some?"

Arven knits his brows together. "Of the paella? I mean, I tried a bit of the rice a few minutes ago to check the seasoning. Why?"

You approach him again, one hand goes to his upper arm to still him and the other reaches up. You sweep your thumb past the corner of his mouth, and when its within his sight again, Arven can see a yellow grain of rice that had clearly been stuck to his face.

You give a snort of a laugh, and before he can say anything, you pop the grain into your mouth. Arven pouts at you.

"Really?" He says, momentarily exasperated more than he is embarrassed, but it's a very close race. "C'mon, you're not gonna get any flavor like that."

"Yeah. You're right, I don't think I got any taste from that." You agree with a chuckle.

Arven's heart thuds hard in his chest as he has an idea.

It's now or never.

"L-...Let me fix that..?" He asks, leaning down a bit to get more on your level. He places his palm on your cheek and thinks he can feel it warm to his touch. His other hand is behind his back, granting you an easy exit; you can absolutely leave if you want. Arven tilts his head just slightly to the side, and his gaze is fixed firmly on your mouth. He's nearly there, but he won't push it.

You're the one who closes the distance between you.

He tastes delightful.

Hey can you suggest any good resources for learning about Egyptian mythology, theology, and spirituality?

Absolutely! One of my favorite books is Christian Jacq’s translation of PtahHotep’s teachings. His analyses on what PtahHotep wrote is as fascinating as it is informative and deals with matters of ascension, learnedness, and a state of bliss not at all dissimilar to the more eastern concept of enlightenment. Both PtahHotep and Jacq stress the importance of Ma’at in our daily lives, and set out teachings of spirituality for daily life that, if you read deeper, can extend into your spiritual practice.

Another suggestion is this book detailing mythology, worship, and other such topics. I think it’s a pretty common book—The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt—but there are some really interesting points in it, even going so far as to deal with the importance of numbers in Egyptian mythology.

Here you can find a compilation of our sacred texts, including translations for the Book of the Dead, the Pyramid Texts, the Book of Gates, and the Book of the AmDuat. Along with those come a number of books written in the more modern world concerning ancient Egyptian religion, even translated hymns to Auset and books dealing with the myths, magic, and legends of ancient Kemet. This website is called archive.sacred-text and it’s pretty easy to navigate if the link doesn’t work.

Generally speaking, if you have more specific topics, worldhistory.org has some great articles too. I recommend looking at their Clergy, Priests, and Priestesses article and the Religious Beliefs and Practices article, although there are many more that are very interesting.

As with all research, make sure you know your sources, and take considerable doubts when reading the accounts of Greek scholars who came to Egypt. Oftentimes they’re straight up liars, and even if not, they only record the times of Ptolemaic Egypt and essentially disregard the entirety of Egyptian history. Thus far very few of their accounts have been evidentially proven correct.

"...oh! We got it, Jacq!!" Overjoyed that your carefully crafted "egg power" sandwich finally worked its magic, you gently took the spotted egg out of the picnic basket.

It felt somewhat heavier than previous ones you've hatched, but you didn't think much of it at first and eager showed your partner--the one and only Biology Professor Jacq. He agreed to come out today to study Pokémon habits alongside you.

"Wow..I only took my eyes off the basket for a second and it.....it just appeared??" He slightly gawked as he stared at it.

Once again, he was astonished at the phenomena that was Pokémon breeding.

Since Paldea lacked daycare centers, it took a while for trainers to learn that picnics were the substitute--which actually made things easier since it enabled their Pokémon to breed pretty much anywhere as long as the landscape was suitable.

But even in this region, nobody could explain where the eggs come from. No one has seen a single Pokémon lay them, even if they watched them very carefully and stayed up all night.

The egg would just....show up as though it appeared out of thin air.

It perplexed many professors and specialists for decades, even experts like Jacq. It'll forever be a mystery.

"What do you think it'll be, [y/n]?" He pondered.

"I'm willing to bet it's a Growlithe, since your Arcanine's been cozying up to mine lately." You chuckled, gesturing to the two fluffy fire types who were snuggling next to each other near a tree. "I'll go on a little walk to find out."

"I'll join you!" He insisted, grabbing his lab coat off the chair and putting it on. "Let's stay on the main roads. I'd hate to see the poor thing get attacked the moment it hatches."

"I concur." Nodding, you slipped the egg inside your bag, before seeing your Arcanines waking up and running over to you both. They must've wanted to accompany you--which was understandable given you had their egg. They didn't want it out of their sights.

And so the four of you began the long stroll, with him reading a pacemaker on his rotomphone to count the approximate steps necessary to hatch the egg. He was curious to see if it'll come out the same as other Growlithes..

Or maybe it'll be a Shiny.

He's heard of that phenomena too--where it's possible to hatch a Shiny Pokémon if its parent is paired with a Ditto. That was a popular method in the daycares of other regions.

But here? You'd rather not wait all day for a dozen eggs to appear.

The odds of that type of Pokémon hatching were still low regardless, so you're not pushing your luck.

After feeling like you've been walking for ages, you heard Jacq suddenly stop, and you looked back at him. He was observing the readings on his phone, eyebrows furrowed. "What's up? Is your Rotom being annoying?"

"Oh no, it's working as intended. It's just...we've already walked over a thousand steps. Why, we're nearly at two thousand!" He glanced up at you. "Did you feel the egg stir at all?"

"Hmm..no, oddly enough..." Being equally confused, you took it out of the bag to make sure it was alright. It felt warm to the touch, though for it not to crack yet was bizarre. "Maybe it's nervous to come out." You joked. "Let make it to two thousand and see what happens."

Nodding, Jacq caught up to you, still monitoring the steps you took before it finally happened-

The egg suddenly jolted in your hands, startling you as you quickly and carefully set it down on the ground. "It's time!" You backed up, standing beside him.

As its shell cracked, beams of light began pouring out from it, and both of you waited in anticipation.

Then it completely burst open to reveal...

Not one, but two Growlithes born from the exact same egg. And if that didn't surprise you, it was the realization that they're both Shinies as well.

Their yellow fur emitted starlike sparkles as they took their first breaths of air, taking a moment to sniff one another. Only then did they notice the two Arcanines who approached them, being just as surprised as their trainers.

With yips of excitement, the little Growlithes ran over to their parents, greeting them with loving nuzzles and licks.

Meanwhile, you and Jacq were standing there, still in total shock.

"I-I can't believe it.."

"D-Did...two just hatch from one egg?! In all my years of research I've never heard of this happening! This is incredible!" The biology professor laughed, before going over to examine the newborn Growlithes.

And he kneeled down, he took a look at their stripes, making another surprising discovery before beckoning you over to him. "[Y/n], come look..their stripes are the exact same pattern!"

"Really? Oh, wow.." You joined his side, smiling as one Growlithe jumped into your arms and licked your cheek. "Haha! This is great! What are the odds that our Arcanines would rear twin Shinies?"

"It has to be astronomically low, but not impossible." He chuckled, petting his Arcanine's snout. "Arceus itself must've blessed you with luck, because this is phenomenal!!"

"Yeah." Smiling, you stood up and ruffled the fur of your own Arcanine, happy to see them becoming official parents. "You ready to start your own little family, bud?"

"Arc, Arca!!"

Random teacher headcanons of mine that I’ll probably never reference again:

Clavell gardens. He has the sun hat and everything, and is pretty proud of the flowers he grows! He’s looking into raising some easier fruits and vegetables too

Tyme could deadlift any of the other teachers and throw them across the room. She looks so strong and she is (she’s a former Rock Type gym leader after all)

When Jacq laughs too hard he snorts. The students take advantage of this fact often

Raifort baby talks her Pokémon/Pokémon in general, but never in front of people. Did you see her cooing in a baby voice? No you didn’t

Salvatore knows nearly every dance known to man, and happily twirls around whatever student begs him to. He’s thinking of starting a dance club or class to teach students

Dendra snores like a freight train. And is fond of naps

Saguaro sadly sucks at baking, so he can’t satisfy is own sweet tooth. On top of that, he prefers home baked sweets to stuff you buy in a store, so he is always suffering

Hassel has a video of Brassius drunkenly singing “Bring Me to Life” on his phone

Miriam has the best poker face out of all the staff members, and often wins at any games that they play together
