Excerpts from 'The Life and Times of Paddington Bear' by Russel Ash with Michael Bond.
A while back, I was absorbed in this blog and discovered the existence of this book. I was delighted to find it on ebay, and even more delighted when it actually arrived!
Highlights include: descriptions of the animated series and its production, bootleg Paddingtons (pictured in a gang, above, behind the true blue PB), Paddington merch, Paddington merch in Japan (!) and some details of the disastrous theatre productions.
A gem of a book.

Did Aiden technically make Jesse into what they are now?
If he hadn't broken that block and Reuben hadn't been set on fire, then Jesse never would've gotten lost in the woods.
If Jesse never got lost in the woods, then Petra wouldn't have to save them, and she never would've shown Jesse the wither skull.
If Petra never showed Jesse the wither skull, then Jesse never would've gotten involved in the deal with Ivor.
Considering this is Petra before she discovers the ✨magic of letting people care for you,✨ it is highly unlikely she would ask Jesse or their friends for help if they weren't already connected to the issue.
Thus, no chicken machine breaking, no creepy basement investigation, no command block discovery, no schmonsters in the schnmasement, and also no befriending Lukas.
And then I wonder if Aiden would think this, if that was something propelling his rage in the 105 fight. Not just anger towards Jesse, but anger towards himself.
Anyways, it's like 2 AM now-

this was meant to be angst but then it just turned into Lukas' POV of the scene where they get the last people back to their homes in S1 EP8
so yeah have this silly ramble
There is redstone in his eyes and it burns.
Lukas cringed at the burning sting. Ever since their adventure in Crown Mesa where he got chipped and subsequently freed, his eyes have been aching. Not in a ‘I need to cry’ way, but in a ‘there is something physically wrong’ way.
He wouldn’t be surprised if something was wrong. He barely had time to recover from the whole PAMA ordeal, immediately going along with Harper and entering The Games to find a way home. And even then, it became another thrilling adventure where they almost died (well, he and Ivor did actually die but it wasn’t permanent and, therefore, irrelevant), Jesse once again somehow pulled through, and kicked some butt. Now, they were in the portal network getting the people who were trapped in The Games home.
“--and that's when I yanked PAMA's redstone heart right out, hragh! And the whole thing shut down!"
He winced and glanced at Jesse up ahead. His hands were waving about as he told Axel and Olivia about all the adventures they missed while they were at home. As much as he’d like to chime in, he didn’t really want to talk about or be reminded of PAMA right now. Especially considering he was, well, still in pain from it.
“Man, you guys have had some crazy adventures.” Axel sounded envious. “So many people trying to kill you.”
Understatement of the century, Lukas thought. It was nearly unbelievable, the amount of trouble they always got into. It was almost like they were drawn to it. Or the other way around. Danger was attracted to them. It wasn’t a very comforting thought. Honestly, Lukas would like to settle down and lay low for a while. It’s been at least a few weeks (maybe even a few months; it’s hard to keep track of time in the portal hallway when every different world had its own flow of time) since he’d been home.
“Goodbye, Jesse! Goodbye! Thank you!”
“That all of them?”
Wait a minute. He’s not been home for a while. Which means no one’s been in his house since it’s not in Beacontown. It’s at the edge of the woods. Which means-
“Everyone that wants to go home, anyhow. Except you folks, that is. Can’t believe how many competitors actually want to stay and keep playing the games.”
Dewey, his mind hissed. How could he forget? The poor ocelot must have been lonely. He wasn’t too worried about Dewey starving, however, as the ocelot has proven time and time again that it was very much capable of hunting its own food. But then again, Dewey might have torn the place apart looking for him.
“Thanks to you my intrepid new friend, I can actually work on making them FUN again. Very exciting. It’ll be more challenging just by myself… But a good challenge.”
“It’s what I do - exploring new worlds, helping people wherever I go… I was happy to help.”
A wince. He brought his hand up to rub at his eyes. They come back with traces of redstone dust.
“And I’m gonna help too. You taught me a lot about fairness, Jesse, and I’d like to use that new knowlegde for something good. And speaking of fairness… I think this is yours.”
Lukas blinked up at Slab before he looked at what was being offered to him. His eyes widened; it was his journal, “Oh, man!”
“There was some good stuff in there. I was really moved,” He was barely listening as he flipped through the familiar pages.
“Awesome,” he smiled up at the giant man before he pocketed the book, waving when Slab started making his way elsewhere.
“Huh. Guess he wasn’t so ‘immovable’ after all.”
He couldn’t wait to get home.

Official dubbing this idea Lapis Swap.
I actually completed better sketches and drawings today, then decided to do a digital version. I couldn’t be bothered to shade the digital version, but I’ll go back to it eventually.
Anyway, undercut of the AU is underneath.
So Jesse and Ivor swap places; Jesse becoming part of the Order, and Ivor just being a regular guy.
Jesse was found by the Order at a young age (around the age of 7), and was cared for by the Order. He officially joined the Order a short time later, as the adults quickly learned that the child was a prodigy in Potionology/Brewing. The child acted as a Healer and often had the right potion for the right job.
A year after joining, the Ender Dragon was defeated. Jesse wasn’t allowed to follow into The End, so he didn’t know the command block was used.
The Order split up, but decided they’d still share custody of Jesse. So, every month Jesse was passed on from one Order member to the next. This cycle only happened twice. By Soren’s second time caring for the boy, he became overwhelmed by the idea that the public might find out about the command block. He then made the decision to give the command block to Jesse, which was his first mistake. Jesse managed to figure out that the cammond block was used against the Ender Dragon and started asking Soren questions. So, in response, Soren did what a logical mildly-unstable man would do… he took Jesse to the Farlands and left him there, then lied and said the child disappeared with the command block. This is what caused the Order to actually fall apart. Magnus and Ellegaard started blaming each other for the child’s behaviour, Gabriel felt the need to blame himsef but did his best to push the problem to the side, and Soren hid himself away to keep that extra secret hidden.
The spiteful 8-year-old arc begins, spiraling into the edgy teenager that wants to fight back against the word arc.
Meanwhile, Ivor is a lovable old man that mainly looks after Axel and Olivia. This man may seem like a grumpy old guy that spends his days brewing or reading, but he has a soft spot for teenagers that are just as quirky as him.
Ivor has a lot of kids; Olivia and Axel, Petra when she comes around, and the Ocelots. Petra came eventually around to the idea, since she’s occasionally popping in to see Olivia and Axel. The Ocelots were claimed as his children at a previous Building Competition. Aiden and Gill especially like Ivor, though Aiden doesn’t like to show it that much.
Anyway, Ivor is basically the main character, and his goal is to adopt a new child that desperately needs love.
Everything plays out normally, but with Ivor as the supervising adult.
I like to think that everything’s reasonably chill between the Ocelots and Axel & Olivia, due to Ivor, but they still have their tensions. I’m instead going to incorporate both teams into the story for the sake of it.
Ivor heads out into the woods just before Endercon, wanting to collect a few spider eyes for potions, and encounters Petra. She tells him about the deal and such, and into Endercon they go.
They get to Endercon and find the two teams chatting about the winner’s build. Ivor and Petra head into the alley, but Aiden follows in due to curiosity. Jesse shows up, Ivor and Aiden a bit taken aback that its a child wanting this Wither Skull. They get scammed, Jesse disappears, and Endercon search ensues.
They find the basement and the Wither concoction, and Jesse enters which causes them to scatter. Ivor then pulls an “I’m sorry I got lost on my way to the bathroom”, allowing the other children to escape.
Lmao, Gabriel confrontation time. Instead of hiding in the crowd, Jesse instead used backstage shenanigans to get into the roof. He speaks from above, taunting Gabriel, before jumping down to reveal himself. Of course, Gabriel doesn’t understand who this is straight away, but realises a bit too late. Witherstorm is released.
Petra is of course chosen to be rescued, because Ivor will choose his child over some guy any day.
Jesse’s name isn’t mentioned whatsoever until the gang find the Old Temple and original story.
Ellegaard and Magnus are extra bitter towards each other.
Ivor and Petra fight a Jesse and loses to him miserably, even with back up.
Soren is mildly terrified of a bunch of teenagers and their dad rocking up to his base in The End. He isn’t really too fond of company this time, as he feels constant guilt and hate for himself for the choices that he made.
The children decide that Ivor is too old to set of the Formidabomb, so Aiden is volunteered as tribute.
Neither Magnus or Ellegaard are sacrificed, because my thinking is “more people so less likely to get smacked.” Both live, as Aiden was given makeshift armour by Ivor, who apparey had stolen resources.
Jesse shows up to the gang’s shelter. Axel and Aiden immediately start pointing fingers at the child, much to Ivor’s dismay. Also, when the Order come out, they don’t know who they’re looking at until Maya mentions that Jesse was the one that soawned the Witherstorm.
Ellegaard and Magnus immediately start hassling the boy with questions, but when asked “Why did you gave the command block?”, Jesse immediately tossed that question to Soren. A bit of an arguement happens, but it is revealed that Soren abandoned Jesse.
Ellegaard stays with Petra in the shelter to try and help. Axel, Magnus, Aiden and Gill go to distract the Witherstorm. The rest go to the Farlands with Jesse to get the failsafe.
Reuben exists, he’s just the guard pig at Jesse’s lab.
The truth about the Order is revealed.
Ivor has a heart-to-heart moment with Jesse. He offers that, when this is all over, Jesse could come back with them and have a new start. Jesse does like the idea, but is unsure.
The children don’t let Ivor fight this fight against the Witherstorm, so its the teenagers (including Jesse) against the Witherstorm. Jesse and Gill end up inside the thing, because more Gill content.
Witherstorm dies, nobody important dies.
New Order of the Stone is formed by the teenagers, and Jesse takes Ivor’s offer to come join him and his other children in a brand new start.
And that is the first half of Season 1.
I haven’t thought any further ahead about the AU, but I am open to ideas.
Anyway, have a Ra Ra Rasputin Ivor.

'From February 29th in Italian cinemas with Searchlight Pictures Italia and Walt Disney Estranei (All of Us Strangers), a feature film written and directed by British director Andrew Haigh (“Weekend” and “Charley Thompson”). The film, inspired by the novel of the same name by Taichi Yamada (1987), is a personal and painful journey through time starring two of the most beloved Irish actors of our time: Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, recently nominated for an Oscar for his performance in “Aftersun”.
One night, in his nearly empty apartment block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor, Harry (Paul Mescal), that disrupts the rhythm of his daily life. As a relationship develops between the two, Adam is haunted by memories of the past and is driven to return to the suburban town he grew up in and the house he lived in as a child, where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) seem still alive, with the same appearance they had on the day of their death, thirty years before.
Strangers – The soundtrack
*The film's original music is by composer Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (Only You, Living, The Forgotten Battle, Censor, Rocks, The Strays). * The film's soundtrack includes the songs: The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood / She Who Dares (Big Band Original) by Colman Brothers / Johnny Come Home by Fine Young Cannibals / Is This Love? by Alison Moyet / Build by The Housemartins / I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire by The Ink Spots / I Want a Dog (2018 Remaster) and Always on My Mind by Pet Shop Boys / Promised Land by Joe Smooth / Death of a Party (12″ Death) by Blur / If I Could See the World (Through the Eyes of a Child) by Patsy Cline .
Director Andrew Haigh on using the song “The Power of Love” from Frankie Goes To Hollywood : The idea that I loved that song when I was an 11-year-old queer kid living in suburban England and that I could put it in a movies years and years later, and now being very open about my sexuality, is something I never thought was a possibility. And I get to make a film with queer content – again, something I never thought was a possibility. And I'm in a relationship, which is, again, something I never thought was a possibility. I was like, “Fuck it, I'll do it at the end of the movie.” I absolutely couldn't not do it. I wouldn't even care if no one liked it.
Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch – Biographical notes

AFRAID- for a scene from my muse's past in which they were scared / under threat
@ask-wretched | glimpses of the past .
--------------- " and did you learn your lesson? "
--------------- ivor could only stare in terror. the colossal iron beast was still desperately trying to reach up. every time its pounding arms would extend and grasp at the warping acacia, shaking it, a quaking and crying gasp as tiny hands would flail and cling to the wood for dear life. it was as if the mere action of lifting those now splintered fingers was a life sentence. and surely it was, as the golem continued to try and writhe the young teen out of it.
--------------- " answer me! i know for a fact that you know better than to keep me waiting! " the man cocked his head as the golem turned to it. its red stare is vacant and expressionless. yet it didn't stop him from starting to punch at the tree. all it took was two hits. two slow, albeit heavy hits and a piece of the wood was splintered to bits. " if you won't learn to give the respect i deserve, i can make sure it's beaten into you. "
--------------- a yelp! a screech! the young teen starts to scramble up the branches, the leaves bustling about as the weight of his body starts to make the wood crack. he starts whining, tears rolling down his face as the terror starts to cause him to scream. for a moment, all the boy can think of is escaping. making it to the top so there's no way that the iron golem can reach him. but the beast is breaking the tree fast, and it's only within the next ten seconds that the next block to break, is just beneath him.
--------------- " AHHHHHH!! YES! YES, I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON! I'VE LEARNED IT!! " a hoarse voice shakes, echoing off into the wind. at the edge of the village, a few of the inhabitants began to watch. their hands are folded within their garbs. some watch in horror, others with unamused faces. none of them have the bravery to step forward. " JUST PLEASE, CALL THE GOLEM OFF!! "
--------------- " that's enough. " just like that, with a wave of his hand, the iron creature is now drifting away. the tree has been left to float, with ivor atop it. the stomping of the golem shifts the dirt, breaking the grass in its path. " get down, ivor. "
--------------- there was a moment of silence. an awkward shift of the vibes. a handful of time passes, the clouds drift in the sky. ivor's black stare is shaking. body shivers. he doesn't want to get down. he has no idea what he's going to do to him. admittedly, it's all prep. stalling, of course, for the inevitable, but preparation for what is about to come. is it a swift smack to the cheek? a fine snatch of the robes and a loogie to the face?
--------------- eventually, he jumps down. a grunt as feet touch the dirt. body is still quivering, and throat is still sore. it takes him a few seconds, yet the eyes reach up to meet his mentor's. they glare. mouth is stretched long into an exaggerated, morphing frown. this intensity of emotion makes ivor shuffle his feet. his hands tap together.
--------------- out of no where, there's a sudden exasperated pain. a wail! body is toppled over -- all the apprentice could hear was the shattering of glass and the explosion of a bubbling concoction. heart grew sore as it cramps up. exhaustion crippled his knees. lungs gave out and the need for air was thrice as strong. hand grips his chest. a cough! a sputter! phlegm comes up and it's spat onto the rough, dry savannah.
--------------- " do not hit me back again. " words are splintered. sharp. ice. swords. " next time, you will learn to stay down when you are taught to stay down. "
--------------- as the cleric walks away, the crowd in the distance begins to part. ivor is left there, heaving as the lifeforce from him is drained. he watches as his mentor strides off, off to the tower they both reside in. too weak to follow, the young apprentice falls back, and decides to let the clouds roll by. to just lay and watch, until the pain withers away.

I resurface from my cave to ask this at approximately nearly 3 am...
What would Pillage and Village (+Allays maybe) update be like in MCSM if they were the only updates allowed to exist? Since you said Romeo hides the rest of the updates under a layer of bedrock to keep the Warden away.
I can see some players going out of their way to fight Pillager Scouts and Outposts. Some even daring to find a Woodland Mansion. Unless that's too dangerous?
Who would most likely out of the cast to use Totems of Undying (minus Ivor)?
Last but not least! How was your day?
First off I’ll clarify something I may not have been the clearest about in my version of the Mcsm lore:
In current day Mcsm, there are three layers of bedrock separating four ‘worlds’ of sorts. On top of the top layer is Jesse’s world, the one created by Romeo with much more limited features because Romeo was working alone vs with the others.
Beneath that is the underneath, it has the latest updates of Minecraft since the admins all contributed (particularly Fred because that’s his dimension). However, that world’s bottom layer of bedrock is placed right between the stone and deep slate, cutting off the deep dark from the underneath.
The Deep Dark is an ancient world, older than the admins and the current underneath’s world. The ancient city is where the struggling survivors of the first world fled to when their surface (now destroyed) became uninhabitable. These people however are long gone, having been corrupted by the sculk and turned into either more sculk or wardens. Only one survivor of that world made it out, though he hasn’t told many of his origin.
And below that is the void, not much down there except certain death. Unlike the other layers of bedrock, the one separating the void and the deep dark isn’t perfect, filled with many holes and the such. If anyone was still around to ask (or if the one that does remain would share his knowledge) you’d here the rumours that an old god lives down there.
Another thing to note is that this world (these worlds?) Is the only one like this, as it was the first. The other portals that connect through the hallway are a result of the same event that drove the ancient people underground, hence why they’re partly different, but not completely.
Sorry for the rant (that was longer than I though it’d be), I’ll now get to your questions:
1) Pilllage and village update
Perhaps there’s a few pillagers on the surface, maybe a few outposts and scouts, but I can’t imagine Romeo being fond enough of them to bring too many up. The Underneath however is swarming with them, since they’ve adapted to the harsh conditions.
They do tend to stay away from settlements (Fred’s keep and Romeoburg) though, too scared of what the admin would do to them if they dared attack. (The Oasis didn’t get this luxury). They’d have the Underneath’s equivalent of a woodland mansion, perhaps made of stone or clay instead of wood.
2) Totems of Undying
Totems of undying are very rare to come across, seeing as they can only be made by evokers. Even the old builders can’t make them because even though respawn and the totems have similar uses, they’re too different from one another to be made similarly.
The only way to get them is to hunt down the already rare Illagers, then find an even rarer Evoker, then kill that incredibly dangerous evoker and manage to escape the other Illagers without wasting your newly acquired totem.
Most would say it’s not worth the trouble, but a few of them are floating around. I can’t imagine the old builders caring enough to get them since they already have the respawn, but maybe Jack, being the adventurer that he is, has managed to get one or two.
3) How was your day?
It was good, thank you :3

Listed: Tørrfall
Tumblr media
Tørrfall are a Norwegian trio who've been playing together since (at least) 2020, recorded their self-titled debut live in August 2021, but just released it this past March. Vocals and synthesizer are provided by Nils Erga (Noxagt, Burning Axis), bass by Kristoffer Riis (Golden Oriole, Staer), and drums by Thore Warland (Golden Oriole, Staer, Burning Axis). Dusted’s Ian Mathers summed up their self-described “psychedelic water music” as “a bad-trip, submarine cousin of the Necks’ Drive By.” Here, all three members talk about 10 releases that could have influenced the Tørrfall record.
Ivor Cutler and Linda Hirst — “Women of the World” (Rough Trade, 1983)
youtube
Nils: The Norwegian broadcasting company, NRK, used to have excellent radio DJs. I believe I only heard this song once upon release, and as a nine-year-old boy, I never caught who sang it, what it was called, or what the lyrics were all about. And then it was gone! But the impossibly catchy melody of the chorus – the song is essentially one single mantra-like, cascading chorus – never left me, and as I grew older, I would replay it in my head repeatedly, hundreds and hundreds of times. In 1999, Jim O'Rourke did a cover version, which I accidentally got to hear, and I was stunned. There it was again, finally! That song!
Cocteau Twins — The Spangle Maker (4AD, 1984)
youtube
Nils: Growing up in the Stavanger region in the 1980s, the UK was never far away. Back then, you could hop on the ferry to Newcastle or fly directly to London or Aberdeen (you'd be there in an hour or so). My older sister brought this back from one of her trips to the Thatcher Empire. Back then, I loved all that 4AD stuff, but in hindsight, Cocteau Twins were the best of all the then-current acts she so generously introduced me to. And Elisabeth Fraser never sounded more lost, more gothic, more out-of-this-world than on this one (the Treasure LP that came out the same year is rather wonderful too). Dream pop, indeed.
Basic Channel et al. — Any 12" under any moniker (Basic Channel, 1990s)
youtube
Nils: I can't remember the first Basic Channel-related 12" that I heard, but I remember becoming instantly hooked – what is this sound? – so I started collecting everything I could find during those early days of the Internet. When listening to this music now, whether it's Main Street, Maurizio, Basic Channel or Rhythm & Sound (preferably loudly and on big speakers), I still feel like time is slowly dissolving. Or it bends and can no longer be trusted. And often, continuing down this path of truly psychedelic techno, I still find myself lost in the strangely lit woods of Wolfgang Voigt's late 90s GAS records, which are equally transcendental.
Steely Dan — Gaucho (MCA, 1980)
youtube
Nils: Hey Nineteen! I first heard this record in my early twenties, and back then, the whole Steely Dan vibe didn't appeal much, nor did it make much sense. But I knew they were named after a William Burroughs-invented "artefact", so I gathered there had to be something there. It turns out there was, in spades (check out Donald and Walter's open letters to celebrities whose careers they worry about for further reading). Anyway, Steely Dan is now my favourite band for watching waves roll by from the balcony, closely followed by early ZZ Top. And this is their magnum opus, in my humble opinion. The Royal Scam and Aja aren't far off, though.
Armando Sciascia — After the End (Suite For String Orchestra & Synthesizer) (Vedette Records, 1971)

Kristoffer: Armando Sciascia, the Abruzzese custodian of the whole-tone scale. While some of his output during the 60s and 70s is admittedly quite stylized with its particular and sometimes overstated tonality, this album strikes a balance between classical principle and impious mischief, while being texturally tantalizing with its fine Italian blend of acoustic and synthetic arrangements. A bit hard to come by, although some of the tracks were available on the 1972 compilation Infini alongside Fabio Fabor on the slightly more obtainable Musique Pour L'Image imprint.
Camille Sauvage — Fantasmagories (Editions Montparnasse 2000, 1974)
youtube
Kristoffer: In some ways, Camille Sauvage was a French counterpart to Armando Sciascia, but with a markedly different sense of melody all his own. Sauvage composed some richly decorated harmonic showpieces that characterize this period in his discography, either under his real name or one of several pseudonyms, notably Eric Framond—and the orchestration was almost always over-the-top with shrill Edda Dell'Orso-esque vocals and screeching brass that nearly couldn't contain itself. On Fantasmagories, however, he shows a more nocturnal and contemplative side, really damp and littered with fragments of this and that.
Marcos Valle — Vento Sul (Odeon, 1972)
youtube
Kristoffer: While there is no shortage of Brazilian contenders with Edu Lobo, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Os Mutantes and the lot, I regularly return to this one. It's Marcos Valle's best in my opinion, and there's not much more to be said about it. A really strong and playful MPB album.
Philip Glass — Music with Changing Parts for Ensemble (Chatham Square Editions, 1971)
youtube
Thore: The relentless electric organ stuff that Philip Glass did in the late 60s and early 70s I really like. This one is with saxophones, trumpet, violin, flutes and voices.
Boyd Rice — Boyd Rice (Mute, 1981)
youtube
Thore: Hysterical and also quite calming, the loops never get boring.
Ike Yard — Ike Yard (A Second) (Factory America, 1982)
youtube
Thore: Minimal and catchy, I love this one. Seems to be a timeless classic.

I saw my friends going back to camp camp and I had to draw my self-insert cc oc at 3am.
Celeste "Laamb" Ivor is a former Camp Campbell counselor who now works in library information after finally receiving her Masters. Still, even though the counselor chapter of her story has come to a close, Celeste couldn't stop thinking about Sleepy Peak and the oddities of the region that others hardly seemed to notice. Where she should have been terrified and ready to leave that place in her rearview mirror, she felt inspired by it all!
Nowadays you'd find her in the woods with a pen and paper, along with hiking equipment, drawing and taking strange notes. Creative inspiration is what she calls Sleepy Peak, which must explain why she draws twisted creatures in the trees and giant bear kings in the mountains. Now, if only one could decipher that mad look in her eye when she jots down inquiries over these images. Is it truly a genius at work when there's terror on her face as though frantically trying to understand the image before her?
David says they're just stories, but one can't help but notice how nervous he looks when she's found wildly sketching near the camp grounds.
