I'm dumping my calendars here bc I've been back on this shit again and have no one to talk about my calendars with
(Please talk to me about my calendars I'm begging you, you will not be a bother i promise i am sending you psychic mind waves telling you to ask about my calendars)
Also if any of this is confusing I don't mind explaining!!!
There's three calendars in one world I've been making, the lunar and solar calendars both running on a 365 set due to reasons
Our current months don't make much sense, and I've tracked down and compiled their original names;
----------------------------------------------------------------------
January is named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and endings. Fairly fitting!
February is named after a Roman purification festival called februa, which occurred around the fifteenth of this month. Februa literally means “month of cleansing”
March is supposedly named after Mars, the Roman god of war.
There are a few different theories about where April gets its name. Some believe that April is derived from the Latin base apero – meaning “second” – because it was once the second month of the year. Others say it comes from another Latin word, aperire, which means “to open” like the opening of buds and flowers during springtime. Still others claim that April was named for Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and procreation.
May is named for the Greek goddess Maia.
June is named after Juno, the wife of Jupiter and queen of the gods.
July was the birth month of Julius Caesar, for whom the month was renamed following his death in 44 B.C. Previously, July was called “Quintilis,” which is Latin for “fifth” and referred to the fact that, with the calendar year beginning in March, July was the fifth month.
August is the only other month named after a historical figure – Augustus Caesar, who was the nephew of Julius Caesar and the first emperor of Rome. Much like July, August was previously called “Sextilius,” meaning – you guessed it – “sixth.”
September, October, November, and December come from the Latin words septem, octo, novem, and decem, meaning “seventh,” “eighth,” “ninth,” and “tenth.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now i wanted to make a new calendar set on the 12 month idea, but now with (mostly) latin counting base of 1 through 12, and starts on the season change, instead of randomly in the middle of winter.
Lunar
1/Unusilius (30) [Start of spring/New years day, starts on equivalent of March 20th]
2/DuosIlius (31)
3/Tresilius (30)
4/Quattorilis (31) (Start of Summer)
5/Quintilis (30)
6/Seitilius (30)
7/September (30) (Start of fall)
8/October (31)
9/November (30)
10/December (31) (Start of Winter)
11/Undecember (30)
12/Duodecember (31) (New years eve)
October and November both have Hallows eve (oct 31) and day (nov 1), as I've extended it to be two days bc i really like Halloween. In universe these are the days of preparation and protection as all sorts of undead come to life on hallows day, so hallows eve is people preparing food, shoring up their homes, ect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
now there's also the solar calendar, which i haven't finished naming, but works on an 8 month system, having 45 day months except for the first and last months, which have 46 days, so it looks kinda like this
1/Early Spring (46)
2/Late spring (45)
3/Early summer (45)
4/Late Summer (45)
5/Early Fall (45)
6/Late Fall (45)
7/Early winter (45)
8/Late winter (46)
i was thinking of having them known as Novus Ver/ Vetus Ver ect but that seems a bit much and I'd prefer each month as one word like with the lunar calendar
Ver/Istas/Autumnus/Hiems being spring/summer/autumn/winter, and novus/vetus being early/late
I'm not sure if I want even weeks in this, such as 9 5 day weeks or 5 9 day weeks
----------------------------------------------------------------------
and finally there's the third calendar, which uses the lunar/solar calendars as a basis, known as the celestial calendar. Gods use this instead of the mortal calendar, and each 'Month' is a mortal decade
This calendar is 5 months long, or half a mortal century. I don't have names for what these months are, or how many 'days' make up these celestial months, or how long those days are

𝐈 𝐅*𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬
Oh, this lazy ass finally wrote something-
He was the right to his wrong. And sadly, Roman had no fucking clue. Not in that oblivious head of his.
Virgil Sanders X Roman Sanders, Background Logan Sanders X Patton Sanders, Background Janus Sanders X Remus Sanders (Human AU)
Word Count: 918
TW: Swearing, Virgil loathing love, Mentions of public events, Mention of sex, Mentions of blood. Msg if there is more.
★-----☾-----❍-----☽-----★
That wretched day.
That one. The one crossed out in red marker, symbolizing the day of Cupid and his minions of love coming to hunt down unsuspecting innocent souls like a huntress coming for the blood of a lamb. For that yearning of hurt in the name of love.
Oh, he hated love. A trickster, covered in pearls, sweets, teddy bears, and roses, creeping up to you, tapping your shoulder, whispering into your ear about a game. A seemingly harmless game of chance, with velvet curtains of smiles and red lipstick, hiding knives and arrows, all forged by the blood of the heartbroken.
He heard Love's whisper. The smooth voice of candy laced with ecstasy traveling to his brain in attempt to lure him into their trap. Thankfully, he declined with no hesitation, not a hint of regret or waver in his ‘no thanks'.
Because, as he said, Love is a game of chance. And he will not fall prey to it.
Even after pulling his green and brown eyes from the February calendar, that hatred for that day bloomed and flourished in the dim light of the dots of moonlight passing through his curtains.
To many it brought joy and dancing on the cobblestone till dusk, to others sorrow and white sticky liquid on their thighs, an innocence foolishly lost to lusty temptation.
Harsh remnants of winter blew in the wind as he stepped out the house, beaten converse thumping softly on the brick road of the street. Shiny stars Illuminating ink black skies with hints of navy slithering around.
Little Virgil Black almost smiled, breathing it all in as the icy breeze blew again, brushing against his pale skin like a mother's touch that was gone in the blink of an eye. His black hair waved like ink, the purple tips waving amongst each other like couples in a ballroom.
No… don’t think about that now.
He sighed, middle and index finger drawing tiny circles on his temples. Love was an enemy of his for a reason, and everything that stood beside it will stand against him. Including February 14.
Oh, February 14, what a tragedy you are. He won’t go into detail with this, but lets all just say February 14… is a haunted day. A day that crept up to him, mocking and forcing those cursed tears to overfill his green and brown dams till creaks that threat to break down turn into gruesome splashing of diamond blades down the pearly beach of his skin. It was… aggravating, to say the least. And he hated it with the fires of both Heaven and Hell.
“Virgil?”
Ah. He'd recognize that smooth and perky voice anywhere. The bouncing brown hair professionally styled on top of his head. The gleaming green eyes that can burn someone's kneecaps to jelly, forcing them on their nonexistent knees at his mercy.
Roman. Fucking. Kingsley. The boy behind the slaughter. The eccentric theater kid with a rose gold crown. The preppy history nerd who also, for some godforsaken reason, his best friend.
But to Virgil? Poor little Virgil? Oh, he was more. He was the boy who unknowingly made the moon shine silvery streaks over every living thing that deserved it. He was the boy who brought glitter in the despondency bliss of the falling drops of rain, heavy or light, he still brought it. He was the rose to his thorns. The sudden rainbow in dusty blue skies, fresh from the wrath of the storm. The peaceful reassuring breeze in the gloomy shadows of night under the spruce trees.
He was the right to his wrong. And sadly, Roman had no fucking clue. Not in that oblivious head of his.
He spun, raising his hand to wave, disrupting the gentle blow of the wind, “hey.”
Roman looked at him, a dream clouding his emeralds, “Hey, uh… I just came to ask you something.”
That was strange. Mr. Disney Prince? Life of the party? Being nervous?
And its about Virgil himself? Very very intriguing indeed.
He must be sick.
He raised an eyebrow at his deafening silence, “well? Spit, Princey.”
He only offered a broken chuckle, running a hand through his hair, “well, now you just made this harder-“
“Just say it.” He snapped.
“Will you go to the dance with me?”
Well, safe to say, Virgil was not very pleased with the answer.
What? Why? Why me? Does he not know me?
Who would’ve thought, the one loathing love with every fiber of his melancholy existence was being offered a hand of companionship by the one who basically lived with it. The… Melancholy Kaleidoscope.
“Its just that, Patton has Logan, Janus has Remus and I… I don’t want to go alone! You don’t even have to be my date, just stay with me? You don’t have to, please, just… consider it?”
My, my, have the tables turned. When the eccentric are nervous and the nervous are, discreetly, mind you, amused. Roman Fucking Kingsley? Rambling? Nervous? And to the one person he was always shameless with? What kind of glitch in the matrix did he stumble upon? Either he and Remus pulled a switcharoo or he genuinely, truly wanted Virgil to. And apparently to his surprise, considering the pleading, teary look on his face, it was the latter.
“I…” A glimmer, a shine of hope displayed on Roman's face, “I’ll.. I guess I’ll go…”
Oh, what a mess did Virgil get himself into.
But no matter, he was there with him.

What’s in a Name?
Part 1- Calendrical Consequences
My Sander Sides series “just keep stumbling forward (baby im waiting for you)” has grown a lot recently. I just hit the tenth work in the series, and as such, I wanted to create something special for the occasion.
First, for anyone who doesn’t know “just keep stumbling forward (baby im waiting for you)” is a Human AU following each of the sides through life, focusing mainly on college and afterwards. Some key points it hits are relationships (romantic and otherwise) and how to cope with trauma. I you haven’t read it and are in any way interested, you can read it here.
Now, as for the special occasion post.
Names have a lot of meaning to me. A lot.
And because of this, everything I have given a name in this series (titles, chapter titles, character names, etc.) has a lot of meaning. So I thought I’d take the time to explain each one. Please note that if you haven’t read the series and are planning on it, this will contain spoilers.
I’ll start with this post just including the largest story “Calendrical Consequences.”
If you would like to read the story, it can be found on ao3 here.
Now, on with the post.
Calendrical Consequences
The title of the current longest multi chapter fic of the series can be broken down into two easy words- calendar and consequences. This story is chaptered month by month, and so having something do with calendars or months just made sense in my mind. On the other hand, a consequence is any result from an action. Consequences generally have a bad connotation, but they are not strictly bad at all. This story is all about consequences from past situations. The term “calendrical consequences” seemed to fit perfectly, as all of the multiple issues, or consequences, that appear in the story have been building up since time has passed.
Seasonal Equivalent (August)
The North and Southern hemispheres have flip-flopped seasons. The term “seasonal equivalent” is just a fancy term to say which months in the north hemisphere line up with those in the south in terms of season. They are always exact opposites, yet they have the same season. August and March are seasonal equivalents, and in both of these chapters they show the beginning of the rising action. Yet, at the same time, they are completely different. August is laid back and just an intro to the story, while March shows events in full swing, just before the trial. As such, I felt the paradoxical term “seasonal equivalent” fit the chapter perfectly.
Meteorological (September)
The term “meteorological” relates to a branch of science that studies the atmosphere. This chapter, being the second, is still very much introducing the characters and the beginning of the plot, allowing the reader to get a sense of the future atmosphere of the story. I really wanted this chapter title to relate to the fact that you are learning about this story’s atmosphere, but I also didn’t want to be direct and just name it “Atmosphere”. That was much to bland for me. Hence, “Meteorological.”
Collision Course (October)
“Collision Course” was probably the easiest chapter to name. The name evokes a strong sense of urgency, panic, and pain, which is exactly what this chapter is about. Virgil is hit with some very hard news in this chapter, and is therefore stuck right in the collision course of events.
Penultimate (November)
“Penultimate,” simply put, means second to last. November is the second to last month of the year according to the Gregorian calendar. But, the chapter title has a deeper meaning. The thing is, the word “penultimate” is often misused. Many people think that adding the prefix of “pen” to the word ultimate is making a thing or item more ultimate, when in fact it is making it less. This chapter fits this perfectly. It falls right after Virgil’s phone call, what one would think to be the worst news of the story. This chapter helps continue that belief by being more calmly paced. But really, it’s just a lead into the news of the case being made public, the real heavy hitter. Thus, “Penultimate.”
Remembrance (December)
“Remembrance” is pretty much a fancy word for remembering something, especially remembering the deceased. December is the month when the trial is made public, causing a lot of memories of Virgil’s past to flood his mind. It’s a simple name for a chapter, but I like to think it’s poetic, especially when one considers that in a way, Virgil is remembering someone who is dead; his past self.
Two Consults (January)
This title comes strictly from the myth of Janus, who the month of January has been named after. Janus is a god with two heads, one looking forawrd, and the other back. He represents both beginning and endings, because truthfully, don’t the two go hand in hand? Therefore, “Two Consuls” refers to Janus’ two heads and their differing perspectives. This chapter in many ways, introduces new beginnings in the form of Virgil considering reconnecting with his mom. But, it also represents endings. Virgil has a fight with Roman- a fight that was truthfully long overdue- ending their current relationship. Of course, once they make up, a stronger, better relationship rises in its place.
Quadrennial (February)
Something that happens every four years is considered “quadrennial.” Nothing in this chapter is really related to a length of four years, but I still think it works. In the chapter we see Virgil planning to meet his mother for the first time in years. We also see four different conversations between four different characters. With the intense references to fours, and February being the month with an extra day every four years, I felt it fit in nicely.
Late Antiquity (March)
This title is a history term. It refers to the transition period from the classical antiquity ages to the middle ages. It was an upheaval of change in many different areas, but specifically within politics, religion, and art. The “Late Antiquity” chapter is very much a transition period. It shows a changing relationship between Roman and Virgil, as well as Virgil’s first meeting with his mom in years. It is also the lead up to the trial. The chapter is full of transitions and changes, and what fits it better than a historical term meaning exactly that?
Etymology (April)
“Etymology” is the study and origin of words. This chapter is defining for Virgil, as it’s the first time he has faced his abuser since he has been free of his abuser’s control. Virgil is stripped to his very core and is obviously very emotional. I felt that a chapter title relating to one’s origins therefore fit this chapter quite well.
Proletarian Mayovka (May)
In ancient terms, a “Mayovka” was just a picnic, but eventually it grew to have intense political ties. The more modern, but still ancient term “Proletarian Mayovka” became a term for an illegal celebration, while being presented as a perfectly innocent picnic. I picked the term because I felt like it defined the polyamorous relationship in this story quite well. Logan, Patton, Roman, and Virgil are just happy to be themselves and together by the end of this story. But, even if they don’t wish it, four men in a committed relationship together causes a lot of controversy in today’s political climate.
