Top: a pre-release screenshot of Mario Superstar Baseball, published on the IGN gaming news website in 2005 (note the IGN logo in the bottom right).
Bottom: in the game, the preview image for Mario Stadium uses that exact screenshot, including even part of the IGN logo, seen overlapping Mario's shoe.
This indicates that the developers, despite having full access to the game's code and being able to take any kind of preview screenshot they could want without any restrictions, instead went online and took a screenshot from a gaming journalism website without even editing out the logo.

Avengers star Mark Ruffalo says actors should “jump into indies” to create more competition in Hollywood.
According to Deadline, SAG-AFTRA will offer waivers in the form of an ‘Interim Agreement’ to “truly independent” productions during the ongoing actors’ strike, and Ruffalo believe this offers actors a unique opportunity.
“How about we all jump into indies now?” he said on Twitter. “Content creators create a film and TV-making system alongside the studio and streaming networks? So, there is actual competition.”
The ‘Interim Agreement’ lets independent productions continue despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which stops all guild members from undertaking any kind of production activity. According to the SAG-AFTRA website: “For independently produced content that comes within the scope of a strike order (the above-mentioned contracts), the producer may qualify for an ‘Interim Agreement’ that would allow such productions to continue working during a strike.”
However, Ruffalo sees this as a further opportunity to stick it to the studio system. “We just do what we always do — create great content and they can buy it, or we take it out ourselves and WE share in those sales,” he said. “They’ve created an empire of billionaires and believe that we are no longer of value. While they hang out in the billionaire boy summer camps laughing like fat cats, we organize a new world for workers.”

hey chat. I did a deep (medium) dive into gamescent to figure out what the fuck they meant by any of that
Tumblr media
first of all, the price tag, holy shit. second of all, AT PAX EAST? it took me a second to realize implication of this being at pax east. this is going to be an INVOLUNTARY EXPERIENCE for some people LOL. THE STINKY BOOTH AT PAX EAST.
The first thing I wanted to know is how the fuck does this use ai? i conjured a beautiful world where we could actually experience ai-generated scents but no, obviously it's just a buzzword used to drive investors. it uses ai to analyze the sound in your game to dispense the appropriate scent, which sounds bad.
Tumblr media
Brief interlude i love this ai generated image they use on their "blog" section on their website, me and my little car i use for gaming
Tumblr media
the first thing you'll find with this article and the website is that they are downright ADDICTED to pretending smell-o-vision was a good thing.
Tumblr media
AHEAD OF ITS TIME? I WOULDN'T GO THAT FAR.
Tumblr media
GEOFF, I DON'T THINK THE INSUFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY WAS THE ISSUE HERE.
Tumblr media
The ONLY benefit of using AI they can come up with is the timing of the release of the scent lolll
Tumblr media
ANIME SCENT
Tumblr media
I'm personally obsessed with them calling it DLC because I have no idea how this is supposed to be downloadable lmao i couldn't find anything on their website using this terminology. Geoff Keighley what did you mean by this. You wouldn't download a scent.
Tumblr media
to the eager anticipation of all ultrakill fans/sex freaks the BLOOD scent DLC will be coming soon.
Tumblr media
there's a giveaway section for data harvesting and apparently 11,000 entries which i somehow doubt
Tumblr media
I really love the vague wording here "will not be responsible for any outcome" ANY OUTCOME?
Tumblr media
I forgot to say of course they have an app lmao. and i love how every physical item you buy is now just a license to use that item now. Surely they wont shut down service for this making your 200 CAD scent box useless laughing crying emoji
Tumblr media
Literally what the fuck is this what does this product have to do with fitness. i can't find ANYTHING correlating this. i had a sneaking suspicion that most of this writing was ai generated but this might just confirm it lol
Tumblr media
What is this tweet
tldr im not looking at this anymore when are they releasing the gabriel ultrakill armpit sweat dlc scent

Since people are talking about the IGN photos, Amazon also released a collection of images regarding Hazbin. (these are visible in the ASSETS tab, the site is made with JavaScript so i cant link it to that tab. sorry!)
To my knowledge these aren't leaks, and are official images as they are found on the amazon studio website. linked to official announcement posts. But they might spoil some content for people when it comes to designs and... quality. as well as episode content ( theres an image, or multiple for episodes "0" - 7 ) I'm thinking they might be promotional material for specific episodes, but unfortunately some of the images picked are blatantly off model, or visibly strange. Although i assume some people will be glad to see them/use them. Some of the images are the Unedited IGN images, without their logo. I screenshotted some of the images below: (correction, i later figured out how to get the files through the code, so they are the highest quality possible.)
I went ahead and organized them by episode number found in the file name, 5 of them are just labled "1" rather than "101" or "102" etc. Ill label them 0, for now. I believe they might have removed the numbers for them since they might include spoilers for the episodes? we can see that Alastor was used twice, and the angle + husk one looks to be from episode 4 (see the background) 0:

Throwback to the 2007-2008 WGA Strike
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
December 7, 2007. Eliza Dushku joined the WGA picket line outside FOX Studios for Mutant Enemy Day. Fans and other actors also joined writers, leading to about 400 people on the picket line.
Eliza said: "I think [the fan turnout is] impressive and it's strong and it's really showing what these people are made of. Their support is deep that they'll walk the walk. We all will." For her the strike was about: "[the writers] being taken care of properly in the fairest way, so we'll stand here and support that as long as it takes... You don't have shows without writers and writers can't live without their respect and the compensation and their rights. So we gotta join together..." (quote source)
THROWBACK: The 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike was held from November 5, 2007, to February 12, 2008. Roughly 12,000 film and television screenwriters were on strike for 100 days. One issue in that WGA strike was residuals from DVD sales. At that time the SAG-AFTRA actors were not on strike. (Wikipedia source)
CURRENTLY (Nov 7, 2023): The 2023 WGA strike lasted 148 days and one of its issues was residuals from streaming media. While that strike has ended, the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike is ongoing. The 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike started July 14th, and has lasted over 100 days.

Instead of fully being an annoying boomer loser who isn't happy about the new things, I'll make some sort of a masterpost about cool JSR and JSRF information sources and other neat thingies. Probably will be updated if i find anything else worth including.
So, first of all:
•Official websites for JSR and JSRF. JSRF website has an English version, but it's barely archived and doesn't have much information on it anyway. JSR one is really awesome though, a lot of cool tidbits, character bios(they include one new trivia for some characters ) and game tips!!
•A whole bunch of guidebooks, meaning JSR Perfect Guide, JSRF Perfect Guidebook and the JGR Sybex's Official Strategies & Secrets . Only one of them is in English, but they're still useful for maps and Graffiti Soul collecting. If you can read these then even better lol. Keep in mind, that the JSR Perfect Guide only covers the original Japanese release, which is different from the later one's.
• Sexy as hell manuals for JGR, De La JSR, JSR for GBA and JSRF. Always good to know about these.
It's probably the obvious thing that could've been noted, so now to less obvious one's.
•The JSR and JSRF articles on Sega Retro. You probably noticed me linking them for the manuals and whatnot. If you want to find out stuff about these games, this is second best source for it (first one is playing the games lol). But it has some weird statements like saying that Beat is the leader of the GGs, even though it doesn't make any logical sense, and claiming that JSRF is a sequel game, but then also saying that it's not in the actual JSRF article.
While these little things suck, they're completely overshadowed by the sheer amount of fucking information included. Scans, art, documentation of which magazine had articles regarding the games and on which page AND EVERYTHING IS WITH SOURCES AND IMAGES. This is really strong and you'll be there for hours just staring in wonder at all this compiled info.
• JSR Archives. This is a community dedicated for archiving and categorising all the stuff JSR related. One of their members was the one who posted the Sybex guide on the internet.(whoahaaa they got a tumblr FOLLOW THEM!!)
• TCRF article on JGR. While this article wasn't updated in quite some time and is missing a whole bunch of stuff (like the leaked prototypes), it's still a very nice read.
• An extremely really detailed playthrough/guide of JSR. Includes cool trivia like regional differences and instructions for character unlocking.
• A whole bunch of prototypes. I included only those i consider noteworthy, if you wanna get the other's, they're there as well.
• JSRF Inside. A certified hood classic if we're talking about JSRF modding.
• Best source for JSRF speedrunning information.
• Less detailed, but still very useful video guide for unlocking all of the secret JSRF characters.
• Playlist of JSR/JSRF music, and anything related to them, like different remixes and stuff. Read the description for more details. It also has a link to a text document containing a lot of cool trivia about the artist featured in the games and other JSR related media.
• Video with all the dialogue and special interactions in JSRF.
• Kind of a joke entry, but also Hideki Naganuma's twitter account is worth checking out. Not his new tweets, but really old one's. In the past he was more involved with the fanbase and shared some neat trivia. Not related to him but one of the Castle Logical ppl confirmed that the lyrics in Mischievous Boy say "chameleon machine" and it fucks me up so much.
• This goofy ass official IGN guide for JSR. Why i didn't put it with the rest of the official guides? Well, the reason is that the writer for this thing, Aki, is a real silly goose and they decided to spice up some of the character descriptions. While these are probably based on some legitimate information, like Beat being from Fukuoka(which was confirmed by a Beat TUBBZ figurine of all things), you can't trust these due to its silliness. Like they gave DJ K a backstory, which just ruins his whole deal AND contradicts the game manual. They also consistently get the names for locations wrong. As a game guide it's pretty good?? You can use it. Just don't go around calling Gum a "brownface girl" after reading it.
That's everything i can remember so far, hope this helps.

Welcome back, let's talk about Bedman?, or Bedman's bed.
Tumblr media
It's inclusion in Strive was surprising, but also… very confusing! On a lore level! Why does it do… any of that? Is it possessed? Is it sentient? Why does it's hurtbox go that far off it's body sometimes? I really, really wish I knew that……
The good news is that I'm not normal about Bedman and went through every piece of official content I could find that could give answers so you don't have to!
The big question we're answering is: is the bed possessed by Romeo? Nope!
Despite it being the most common theory, and also misconception, we have three instances of otherwise being said. As always we have to prioritize Daisuke's own words, as he is the creator of… all of this, but I'll tell you the other two anyway.
First, Ken Miyauchi, in an interview with mxdwn:
"In Another Story, Bedman actually appears, but it is actually not really directly Bedman, it is the bed frame with part of Bedman’s spirit in the bed frame trying to protect his sister Delilah."
This can seem to contradict literally what I just said, but, keep in mind the specifics here of only a part of. This also doesn't line up completely with what Daisuke says later. If canonically there is any part of Bedman's soul in the bed, it's only a small part of it- meaning the rest of him is elsewhere.
Second was Akira Katano, in an interview with 4gamer that took place at EVO. He mostly talked about gameplay, but there was this:
"ただのベッドではなく何かの意思、お兄ちゃんの意思を感じると。ただ確証があるわけではないという点や、あのベッドにどういう意思があるのかというところも含めて、“ベッドマン?”という名前になっています。"
What he's saying here is that what's actually being felt is more like Bedman's will- the word can mean things like "wish". But also that this is what the other characters believe, and there's no proof of this actually being true. Which ties in nicely to our third,
That being Daisuke Ishiwatari himself, in an interview with IGN:
"And what I wanted to do was kind of take a little bit of inspiration from Annabelle and say the kind of fractured feeling of Bedman is still remaining inside the bed itself."
Daisuke's word is the word of god in this franchise, don't forget- this is the most important answer on the status of the bed frame being possessed, and it's a pretty big no. There's only a feeling of him left in the bed, which could range from previous statements like being his will, or simply just remnants of his magic keeping it running. A feeling, especially a fractured one, is not a soul.
How does the bed act on its own if it has no soul in it, though?
This one is answered by its official profile, available in-game and on the website:
"The bed can continue to act independently after Bedman’s death due to the program he entered in his last moments."
It's just a program. Think of it like an AI. That's why it's moves are all programming language.
But then that begs the question, why can Baiken apparently sense him in the bed? Why does she, and other people, talk to the bed like it's him? As was said before… None of the characters actually have proof he's in there. They're all going on the same "feeling"- keep in mind Baiken has never actually met Bedman before this, either. They're all sensing something in the bed, and assuming it's him. That something could simply be the fragmented feeling Daisuke said, or, a sign of something else. But for now, we know it's not Romeo. The other characters don't.
So is Bedman still connected to the bed, somehow? Also no. As put very simply by The Circle:
"World I left and can't reach"
We don't know where exactly Bedman is. All we know is, it's not in that world, and he can't access it whatsoever. For him to be able to reach the bed frame specifically to give it commands, he would need to be seeing everything else going on, and therefore be able to reach that world. Which… he can't. He is disconnected from it. Somewhere else entirely. The bed isn't getting commands from anywhere else, it's running a program internally that Bedman made to decide what to do. But this doesn't mean the bed is entirely programming.
I'll keep it very brief, but long story short, the bed may actually just… be a creature now. A living creature. Back in Xrd we saw it be quite expressive overall and even able to produce saliva, and now in Strive we have it overriding it's programming and seemingly crying. It could be that it's some creature we don't know of, or a Magical Foci- which is definitely a possibility given how they're created. For now we don't know! There's so many questions left unanswered that if Bedman and his bed creature don't play a big role in the next game I think I'll just. Explode . Please, Daisuke… answers…….
As always you're welcome to ask questions or for clarifications. This shit confuses me too but I will do my best 🫡

Spyro 3 - The GameSpot Build and Lost Media
I've been actively researching and documenting early builds of Spyro 3 for something like 7 or 8 years now, and while I feel like I've made a significant impact, there's always going to be people that have never seen any the content that I've helped to document - so, every now and then, I get the urge to infodump about one piece of my research to a new group of people, to help make sure that the documentation I've done isn't only known to a very small group of people... that'd defeat the purpose of documentation, to an extent, I think.
Sometimes, outreach ends up being extremely important to the research and preservation of prerelease content - and this is no better exemplified than with Spyro 3's "GameSpot build".
On June 23rd, 2000, several websites and publications revealed early previews of Spyro: Year of the Dragon - this date was probably some sort of online embargo date.
The "April preview", an early build which seems to match the one used at E3 2000, was used by most of these publications. A few of them, according to accounts from those that wrote the previews, received exclusive gameplay sessions from the likes of Mark Cerny - these previews apparently took place quite close to the embargo date and certainly would have used a later build than the April one. We know that IGN received one of these sessions (but, according to the author of the preview article, was allegedly unable to record gameplay during this session, which resulted in IGN having to use the same build everyone else did in their preview articles), and it's a pretty safe bet that GameSpot did, too. In GameSpot's case, we actually got to see what this build looked like:
Tumblr media
As expected, it's a later build than the April prototype - this one seems to be from around the same point in development as the earliest demo disc version, though we're not sure if it's an earlier build or a later one. Three main characteristics stick out in these screenshots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We don't ever see what the eggs looked like in this build, but the fragments use this bizarre ornate gold texture.
The HUD uses a green egg sprite similar to some of the eggs seen in the April build; the earliest demo disc version also uses this sprite.
For some reason, transparent polygons are a solid black colour, making some screenshots look sort of ominous and weird.
Perhaps the weirdest thing about this build is that the gold egg fragments it uses, which to most players would be completely unrecognisable and unlike anything they've ever seen before, actually do appear in the final game. And they hatch from every egg in the entire game. In most cases, the fragment flies off screen before the player can spot it.
Tumblr media
The earliest demo build, which seems to be from around May 25th, 2000, does not include this texture at all, which has called into question the timeline placement of the GameSpot build. On one hand, they might've used the final egg texture momentarily, switched to the gold one, and switched back, accidentally leaving one of the textures intact. On the other hand, there have been cases in many Spyro builds of random early assets weeding their way back into the game via means that we don't really understand. Look no further than the August 27th, 1998 localisation prototype of Spyro the Dragon, a post-final build which inexplicably re-uses an early Gnasty Gnorc model, textures, and animations, from around 2 months earlier in development:
Tumblr media
The info we have on this build doesn't just stop at screenshots, though! GameSpot kindly uploaded 5 videos of the build - labelled "Movie 2" through "Movie 6" (thanks GameSpot. that's not confusing at all) - to their website. Most of these videos were later temporarily put behind a paywall, and in 2014, 4 of these videos were deleted during a server move, with only Movie 2 (the one never put behind a paywall) remaining. The one movie that remained didn't even play properly in GameSpot's video player for years, so I had to download the video from the API to view it at all:
youtube
While the video is an important piece of history, and did reveal to us that the early Sgt. Byrd theme heard in some old IGN videos of the April preview had a previously unheard guitar section (this was prior to the public release of the April preview), it doesn't tell us very much new about the build. If we really wanted to more precisely date the build, we'd need to know what the eggs looked or sounded like - but the egg collection section was entirely cut from the video. As of yet, we just don't have this information.
As for Movies 3 - 6? These are now lost media. They were up on the site for 14 years, we know that people saw them, and I suspect there were people that downloaded them. However, since they were deleted nearly 10 years ago, nobody has come forward to say that they have one of the videos and to show what was in it. Anyone that does come forward with this info should be met with some scepticism, of course, but I think the only way we'll ever see more of this build is with a greater outreach and more widespread knowledge of the missing videos - the videos were readily downloadable from the website, and so someone still has the videos, I'm sure.
And before anyone asks, yes, the WayBack Machine has been very extensively searched for these videos - we can't find them, there's just no trace of them on there.
Tumblr media
Judging by the video descriptions, Movie 3 would have focused on Bentley, Movie 4 on either Sheila or Agent 9, and Movies 5 and 6 on Spyro gameplay.
I've only ever encountered one person who claims to have seen these videos, and whether they're to be believed or not, they claimed that one of the videos showed Sunny Villa using Fireworks Factory's theme (levels using the wrong themes was very common in early builds of these games! Additionally, Fireworks Factory's theme is very likely to have been present around this point in development), and another showed Agent 9 gameplay using a track that didn't sound very Spyro-like, but more like "something from James Bond".
When the April preview released later on, it was discovered that early Spyro 3 builds actually do have a number of entirely non-Spyro themes, all by µ-Ziq and Propellerheads, left unused in their soundtrack data. The tracks in these builds seem to line up with the levels present in an earlier build of the game, and by this metric, it seems that "Spybreak!", a theme from the Matrix soundtrack, would have (fittingly?) lined up with Agent 9's Lab, and possibly would have been used in that level in internal development builds. Sure enough, my contact agreed that this was the theme they heard, when I sent them the track - if this is indeed the case, then this build is very very weird indeed.
It remains to be seen whether we'll ever learn anything new about this build, but we can only hope. I've linked to an archived 7z file containing all the screenshots uploaded to GameSpot below, as well as a link to a TCRF article detailing some of the known differences spotted in this build:

Stumbling into websites like this feels like going into a mom 'n pop, locally owned, brick 'n mortar shop with unique painting on the window beckoning you in to look at all their wonderful wares, some of their stuff is dusty but they have a lot of really cool stuff you don't see anywhere else, and posters all along the walls, and cool figures and merchandise on their shelves, maybe they have a little TV playing something in the upper corner... and it's just a very nice place to be.
But then you have like gamefaqs or IGN or some shit that feels like walking into Walmart where they have overpriced replicas of vintage stuff next to the funko pops or maybe just digital download codes, just praying on your nostalgia at the back of their warehouse shelves, ultimately you just want to leave.
And sadly this place hasn't been updated since 2013, despite looking like it hasn't been updated since 2004.
God I miss old web.

Ok so it looks like Yakuza Like A Dragon MIGHT have locked their New Game + behind DLC???
This only seems to be on the official website, not the steam or PlayStation page, but according to the articles a redditor did reach out to Sega to confirm this and they said the website is correct.
If this is the case then we have an obligation to be as annoying as fucking as possible about this. We have to draw the line somewhere and PAYWALLED NG+ on a $70 GAME is way past where that line should be frankly
