okay but does anyone except for Mori and Fukuzawa know that Yosano is exempt from the ADA member switches to PM deal? Because if Fukuzawa kicks the bucket and nobody knows about the true conditions that could cause some real problems for the future.

Let's talk about teenage soukoku and the first time they steal a car.
Sixteen years old Dazai Osamu wakes up one day and decides he's going to learn to drive today and because drama is his middle name, he asks (threatens) their chauffeur to teach him about car parts and what they do. After learning each part and its function (mind you he hasn't tried driving once yet) he happily goes to get his partner.
Fast forward to 3 hours later the infamous double black is being chased by a crowd of angry citizens for unsupervised vandalism (property damage, arson, causing ruckus you name it). Between Chuuya yelling profanities and threatening to kill him Dazai pick pockets a car key and to his luck, it's a pick up van parked on the side of the road.
He only hopes the functions are as same as the limo they use in port mafia.
He gets into the car and Chuuya follows, but he doesn't do it quietly.
"What the fuck are we doing?" He asks as he slams the door shut, "bastard can you even drive!?"
"No, but I'm going to learn now," is Dazai's reply as he pushes the key into the ignition and twists it. The engine starts with a roar.
Stage one: accomplished.
Ignoring Chuuya's scream of protests and threats he slams the gear stick and hits the pedal and they're immediately on the road, crowd chasing behind them.
Laughing, Dazai speeds up and Chuuya holds onto the seat for dear life, all while screaming on top of his lungs. Dazai can't feel his face from the gush of wind but he doesn't stop. It's crazy, it's stupid and it's absolutely thrilling.
Somehow he manages to drive them far away from the people, the city (the fucking police if they saw them, Dazai doesn't know) and he stops the car to a side of the road.
He turns to look at his partner and the older boy is still next to him, clutching on Dazai's arm, hair completely disheveled by the wind and breathing heavy.
Their eyes lock and Dazai opens his mouth to tease him, make a joke about how chibi looked like a dog even more now, but then Chuuya starts laughing. He drops his hand from Dazai's arm and he's laughing like a madman, hand on stomach. A giggle escapes Dazai as well because this is new, this feels amazing, he wants to do it again.
They sit there and laugh for god knows how long before a limo is pulling up next to there car and Hirotsu is driving them back, telling them how he won't cover up for them again. They thank him (Chuuya thanks him, Dazai sings "No promises~" and gets pinched by Chuuya) unaware of the fond smile on the older man's face.

Thou Shalt Not Die Ability Analysis
Ok people, the brain rot won't leave so I'm making it everyone's problem now.
I have 2 theories about how Yosano's ability, Thou Shalt Not Die works and has changed.
So we know from Yosano's backstory that she didn't always have to half-kill people or have them fatally injured. We see her heal perfectly "fine" people who aren't on the verge of death but are injured badly enough to warrant taking them out of the fight. This means that the way her ability originally functioned was ideal and really quite amazing because she could heal anything without requirements attached to her ability.
So when did the change of Yosano can heal anything, big or small, to, Yosano can only heal fatal injuries?
I think it happened here, in this scene where Mori shoot Tachihara's brother to get Yosano to heal him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why do I think it happened here? Well at this point Yosano has been run to exhaustion and she's seen a lot of "death" at this point without having actually seen death. I think her watching Mori "kill" someone to make her heal changed something about how her ability functions. This first theory is mainly based off of the theory that trauma is where abilities stem from and can therefore change them. In addition, Yosano says that she wants to save the lives in front of her. She's placing the condition that she must be saving a life for her ability to work here and Mori is solidifying it by almost killing Tachihara's brother.
2. Yosano simply chooses not to heal someone if they aren't severely injured. This is either done subconsciously or consciously.
Subconsciously is likely the result of her working as a doctor in the Great War, because again, Yosano has seen so much during the war. It's likely that she can not bring herself to heal small injuries again after watching Tachihara's brother die. I also believe that it might be her way of minimizing her "correctness" (this is in reference to the fact that Tachihara's brother tells Yosano before he dies that she is "too right/just/correct" depending on the translation) and her way of coping with what happened to her.
Consciously, I feel like is less likely but still possible. If Yosano is the one to seriously injure and maim the patient, then she is in full control. She knows how close to death they are, their mental state, and how best to heal them. This also prevents people from coming to her for injuries, once again minimizing her "correctness". This also allows Yosano to prevent what happened to Tachihara's brother from happening again.
All in all I think that Yosano is just absolutely fascinating and we really don't see any other abilities in BSD that did what Yosano's did.

Sealed 3
Part: 1 2 4
Tumblr media
“Lady Y/n please settle down. You’ll make yourself sick if you-” Mori paused hearing the lullaby playing throughout the sound of the Hospital. You turned to Wasuke he didn’t look to please, he sat arms crossed over his chest staring blankly at the floor, his eyes flickering up to meet yours.
“Well, he’s alive.”
You waited eagerly until a nurse came to guide you all in, over time you wormed your way into the Itadori’s life making a point to become good friends with Kaori and Jin in the brief time before her due date. You know one thing you’d never trust her, Kenjaku to be exact, which is why it surprised you when she asked Jin if they could assign you as a God Mother if anything happened. Jin suggested maybe after Wasuke, you didn’t have a problem saying you were a neighbor if they ever needed you, you were next door.
Walking in the room you rushed over to Kaori seeing your son, except in this life he lacked the little marking on his forehead that matched his dad perfectly, but he was crying painfully loud. “Oh Kaori he’s precious, a little crying prince.” You tried to laugh it off before you squeezed her in a hug and she smiled “My little Yuji.” She tried to rock him Your heart skipped when he let out a loud cry hands shaking face reddening, you smiled at her with a loss of air “Yuji?”
She nodded at your question explaining it was a decision made for them. It didn’t feel right to name him anything else, you smiled and looked at his little round face, “hold him, you’ll be in his life as long as your around. Maybe he’ll calm down.”
She tried to offer Yuji, you hesitated looking at Wasuke and Jin, they were talking. You looked at Kaori, she smiled weakly and you nodded, as soon as you placed his head on your chest he feel into place the way he had once. Your teary eyes mixed with how quiet and calm he became when his little fist took hold of your shirt called attention. “Look at that.” Wasuke say elbowing Jin.
You smiled at Yuji’s little scrunched up face before turning to smile at Kaori, she smiled at you while trying to move around in the hospital bed, “He’ll be lucky to have you in his life, it seems like he likes you already.”
You spent the day with Kaori in the hospital when Jin and Wasuke left to bring her some take out and get a few things ready. You were sat by her bed holding Yuji who took hold of your finger, he was holding for life, you moved him around seeing that star mark of your binding vow. You looked over at Kaori, she was smiling but looked tired, “Take care of him y/n, if anything happens make sure he knows what it’s like to have a loving mother.” With a soft laugh you nodded, “Don’t worry, I’m sure you’re going to both be fine. You’ll get up, take him home and have a happy little family.” Your smile would’ve been reassuring if it actually reached your eyes, but your eyes held the trace of faint tears. Tears of the memory when Yuji was Born screaming, when Sukuna was so proud to see his boy being held up to show he was the first heir. The tight grip he held on Sukuna’s finger, the way Yuji was quick to nuzzle into your chest and not let go. How Sukuna didn’t leave your side for weeks wanting to take the first few weeks to admire his wife and first born son. Back when Sukuna had a sense of Humanity still. Now you could feel it, the evil that was slowly seeping into the world as the seals that held Sukuna captive weakened. Kaori had fallen asleep when you kissed Yuji’s forehead, running your thumb over his cheek when he yawned.
“Sleep little prince, I’ll be here always.” Nuzzling your forehead against his he cooed before he briefly opened his eyes, his little brown eyes were golden in the light of the afternoon soon. You held onto him while he slept until Jin and Wasuke returned. Mori stood to the side, watching it all. Wondering how different you were before you picked him up out of the scum he slept in every night. How could the tyrant he learned to be Sukuna have been your husband? Was he not the cruel King of Curses everyone had logged and preached him to be? Were you as cruel of a monster before the sun set on the Golden Age?
🤍❤️🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤❤️🤍❤️🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤❤️🤍
“My condolences” was all you said as you bowed to Wasuke before entering the shrine room to pay your respects. It hadn’t been long after Kaori and Jin came home, they found her dead, details hadn’t been shared but seeing the split on her skull at the mortuary you had known well enough what it was. Jin followed soon after leaving Wasuke with his grandson. Kaori had made it know that she trusted you completely with Yuji, which lead to you signing the legal documents for becoming a Godmother. That was one decision Wasuke agreed with entirely.
———————
There you sat on the floor of Wasuke’s living room, cooing and playing with Yuji not to long before his first birthday. Pressing on the bottom of his feet while he kicked back, “Look at you little baby” you wiggled his legs and he giggled, “Getting all ready to walk! You’re growing up so fast!” Yuji cooed before sitting up with a baby grunt and staring up at you, you let him crawl into your lap and sit there before you squeezed, “Aw my little Yuji.” Kissing his head and squeezing him in one more hug you let him sit in your lap, clapping along to whatever was on the tv. “Mm your grandpa’s taking a while longer than expected, wanna eat and get ready for bed?” Yuji cooed mindlessly watching the tv until you pulled him up with you, he squirmed turning to look at you, his little chubby hands on your cheeks trying to squish your face, “baaba.” “Mhmm, Baaba, Bottle.” He kept cooing until you gave him a warm bottle.
“Well, has a cold so it you and I.” Yuji was still drinking out of his bottle laying his head on your shoulder. The other hand squished between both your chests, his eyes looking up at you. “You still look so much like your daddy… speaking of him, his presence is stronger I wonder if something really is changing…”
Yuji had fallen asleep against your shoulder, soft breaths as he barely held onto the bottle. Slipping it out of his hand you made your way to your room, Morí was finishing setting up a bassinet cushion on your bed.
“Everything’s ready Lady Y/n” you smiled “Thank you Morinozuka.” He bowed before leaving and you laid Yuji down, tucking him in with a blanket. Running your fingers over his little fists to uncurl his fingers, leaning down you kissed his forehead and he whined, “Good night little prince.”
🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤🤍🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤
Soon you were walking a young Yuji to school and back. Watching how he ran and jumped on playground before you got to the school. He purposely woke up early to be able to play, “mommy!” Your eyes snapping to Yuji when he cried sitting on the stairs to a slide. Rushing over to him you knelt to see him cradling his knee. “What’s wrong did you get hurt?” He sniffled little cheeks getting red as he puffed them out.
“my knee.” You pouted with him when he moved his hand, “Don’t worry baby, I’ll fix it right up.” Pulling Yuji’s back pack off your shoulder you opened a little tin, it had bandaids you’d infused with cursed energy. Pulling out a bigger bandaid with a smiling chibi tigger your laid it over his knee, and he sniffled flinching, “Don’t worry, when you take it off you’ll be okay again.” Taking his face in your hands you kissed his forehead and he tried to hug you “thank chu.” He placed a wet kiss on your cheek that you wiped off when he wasn’t looking because you didn’t wanna hurt his little feelings.
“Alright! Let’s get you to school, I gotta buy some groceries for later.” You took his hands and he swung them back and forth, “Can we have noodles?”
He looked up at you starry eyed with a little bit of drool, you nodded, “Noddles with rice and fried egg?” He nodded excitedly “yeah!”
“Alright Yuji’s specialty to Start off the week it is.” You swung your hand with his and smiled looking ahead, stopping outside the schools gate where a teacher was waiting, “Bye mommy!” He hugged your side before rushing in, you waved at him when he turned back, “you didn’t say bye!” He screamed running back, “Bye Yuji,” he nodded running back before stopping again, “You didn’t tell me have a good day!” The teacher giggled when you smiled at her “Have a good day Yuji!” He nodded before you called him to come back, he was walking back and started running when he saw you kneel with open arms, when he ran into your hug you shook him side to side and he giggled. He leaned back from your hug “I love you Yuji, be good ,play nice and have a good day okay?” He gave a single nod, “Okay!” “Bye mommy love you!” He took off running, waving back at you with a closed eye smile.
“He’s very cute, everyone loves him and he’s very easy to make friends with.” The teacher smiled at you, “Yeah? That’s good, at least I know I don’t have to worry about him. Thank you.” You bowed your head to the teacher who brushed you off, “Please the pleasure is ours, Yuji is a little ray of sun on rainy days honestly.”
🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤🤍🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤❤️🖤🖤
“Wasuke.” Was all you could say when he told you what he knew, “Yuji’s mother Kaori was a curse. It wasn’t hard to tell but I knew my son couldn’t handle it. I’m old in age and you might think I’m crazy, a loony old man. I failed to save my own son, I let him get taken by a curse, I could have saved him. But I was a coward, I saw that woman with her skull split open, she was dead and she should’ve stayed dead. But that thing living inside her…” you placed a hand on his.
“I understand what you mean Wasuke, I couldn’t save someone precious to me long ago to a curse. I could see them as long as I’ve been alive. That’s a world so cruel I wouldn’t wish for anyone to have to live through it…” your blank stare on his hand as he turned his hand over, “Who did you lose y/n?” His stare was fixed on you.
“I should tell you, it’s the only parting gift I have to give. Yuji was my son in what would be his previous life, his Father was a powerful man. One day a group sorcerer’s turned on him, sealing him away. His presence is strong in this world still, he’s alive. Yuji was our only son, and they took him from us dealing him in time to be reborn in a time distant from our. It was a mistake on their part. I was locked in a box called the Prison Realm, a place where Time stands still and you’ll lose your sanity before you die. A man following an ancient tale found that Box where our capturer’s died. I haven’t the slightest idea how he did it but he set me free in exchange I bless his wife with a healthy pregnancy, I did and for years I built a following. Before that, on the day of the attack Yuji and I made a binding Vow that I would find him again, it’s why he has that star shaped mark on his forearm. When I tell him this same story and he understands completely the Vow will be completed, and they’ll disappear.”
Wasuke looked at you, thinking over your words while staring at your arm where you had rolled up your sleeve, it was the same mark as Yuji. He started laughing head thrown back into his pillow “They could say I’m crazy. But they would label you insane, but at least we’d both have middle ground on the truth here.” He squeezed your hand weakly and you squeezed back, “Take care of Yuji, your son, my only grandson.” You nodded, “I will, I’ll do anything to make sure i never lose him or see him get hurt again. For what felt like endless nights I relived the same memory of him crying, screaming and reaching out, and I’ll be damned if I ever let that happen again.”
Wasuke nodded before patting your hand, “He’ll be getting home soon, you should be there for him, especially today.” You felt his words deeply, the ache in your chest, he was predicting his own death. You nodded before bowing at his bed side, “Thank you for everything Wasuke Itadori, I pray you find peace in the afterlife.”
He snorted waving you off, “find peace in this life or you’ll never have it. Now go.”
———————
You were at home, it was quiet, the sound of boiling brother, the window cracked open letting the sound of crickets and bird coo’s fill the kitchen. Yuji had moved in with you when Wasuke was moved into the Hospital. Morí was at the table filling out a book from your old shrine. You had started shrine work here while Yuji was at school making sure to keep it private.
The sound of scribbling and your slicing of vegetables stopped when you looked out the window. It was setting, the sun, everything was quiet when you felt a sense of dread and a wave of cold wash over you. Scribbling stopped when the phone line began to ring, you knew what it was. “Hello, am I speaking with l/n y/n?”
“Yes, this is her.” A shaky breath, “Wasuke Itadori has passed away, I offer my condolences. Yuji Itadori is here and filling out the necessary paper work. We’ll give you a call when all the necessary preparations have been made.”
Thanking the nurse you hung up, trembling slightly as you tried to keep slicing vegetables. “Wasuke..” it didn’t take long for your noodles and rice to finish.
“Where’s Yuji? He should be home by no-” your entire body shook as you gasped, your heart thrumming in your chest, “ Ryomen…”

Osamu Dazai
There was no way in hell you were gonna sleep in the same room as dazai, much less as the same bed.
When the desk concierge had told you they had a room meant for a couple that cancelled their booking last minute, you didn't think much about it. You were tired from the long train ride-and dazai's jabbering-to Kyoto and you just wanted to get as much sleep as you could before you had to start the mission fukuzawa had sent the two of you on the next morning.
Until you stepped into the room only to discover there was one bed.
"You should've slept on the couch." You huffed, rolled on your side and your back facing him. Dazai chuckled, propped up on his elbow as he looked at you with a stupid grin on his face.
"Awww, but bella'! What if I got cold?" He whined, poking the back of your head.
"Not my problem."
"You're so me-"
"Shut up, dazai."
Dazai pouted like a child, sighing and rolling onto his back at looking at the ceiling. He looked over at you, sitting up to get a better look at your face and he didn't regret it.
The way the moonlight highlighted the planes of your face and your lips parted just slightly and your eyelashes brushing your cheeks just so-
God, you were gorgeous to him.
his heart fluttered in his chest and he smiled gently at your sleeping form.
"Did you know you look beautiful when you're trying to go to sleep?" His voice had a teasing lilt to it, but dazai had meant every word that rolled off his tongue so easily. His hands itched to pull you closer and against him, to press his face to your nape and never let go.
And he did just that.
You're eyes fluttered open as you felt hands curl around your torso and dazai press his face into your back, his warm breath hitting your skin under your shirt. Heat rose to your neck and you turned around only to be face-to-face with honey eyes and a sly grin.
"D-dazai?! What the fuck-?!" Dazai pressed a finger to your lips, humming softly and he smiled at you.
"Sorry!! I was cold and, well, you're just so warm, y'know?" He giggled, letting his finger fall from your lips and acting like he didn't notice the way you pressed your lips in a line and pink dusted your cheeks. Your breath caught as he traces your face with his knuckles, eyes half-lidded and adoring-
-no, he was just tired!
Dazai hummed, brushing a fallen eyelash from your cheek. "Such a pretty girl..." He murmured. You flushed, grabbing his wrist with your hand.
"Dazai, what are you doing?" You stammered. Dazai smiled gently, pulling your hand off his wrist with his free hand and pressing kisses to every fingertip. He looked up at you through his eyelashes, cupping your cheek and shushing you.
"Not now 'donna, I wanna admire the art in front of me."
Tumblr media
Chuuya Nakahara
Luck was not on your side, hell it was only on the side of whoever wanted to embarrass you right now.
"I'm so gonna kill Mori..." You muttered, drawing the sheets up to your chin as you slept on the very edge of the bed, with Chuuya on the other side.
"Agreed." He grumbled from the other side, your backs facing each other.
"I wasn't talking to you."
"I know."
"..."
You groaned, rolling onto your back and glaring at him. You knew it was petty to be mad at Chuuya-he wasn't the one who messed up your guys room bookings after all- but you wanted to be mad at something. Chuuya merely raised an eyebrow at you, his hands under his head.
"Why are you glaring at me?" He rolled his eyes, turning to the side to face the wall. He stared at the wall, trying to focus on anything but your eyes on him. God, he hated it-why do you have to have such an effect on him? Chuuya usually doesn't have problems sleeping, but he can't sleep, knowing you were there and he just wanted to kiss you, at least once. He didn't like the way you made his heart race, how your pretty eyes melted away any annoyances he may have had in the day.
The two of you stayed like this for a while, deciding to pretend the other was asleep and they were alone.
"...at least I'm stuck with you and not that shitty mackerel." Chuuya huffed after a bit, sitting up and glancing over at you. He tilted his head, leaning over to see that you had actually fallen asleep.
And were hanging half-off the bed.
Chuuya paused for a moment before gently placing his hands on your waist and pulling you back onto the bed so your limbs weren't hanging off like a ragdoll. He rolled you onto your back, hitting the mattress with a soft "thump" as he looked over at you, his heart clawing up his throat.
You looked so...peaceful. Eye's that glinted with wild determination shut under eyelids and soft sighs left your parted lips instead of snarky words. Strands of hair stuck to your face and chuuya brushed them away with the faintest graze of his fingertips along your warm skin. He swallowed dryly and took a small lock of your hair in between his thumb and index finger, twirling it around his fingers to see if it would hold a curl. While gently twisting you hair, he pulled a little too hard at a strand, causing you to stir. You groaned, eyes blinking and opening into slits as you looked over to see chuuya sitting there like a deer in headlights when he realized you caught him.
"uh...you hair way just in your face so um..." He dropped the strand and and he meant to rescind his hand, he swears, yet he reached out to cup your cheek, stroking his thumb over your cheekbone. You gasped quietly, but you didn't pull away. Chuuya swallowed, his throat bobbing and he slid his hand into your hair and to the back of your head, pulling you closer to him.
"Chuuya-"
"please?" his voice sounded so quiet, so gentle.
A beat, and you sighs, relaxing and allowing him to hold you close. He sighs, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head and you looked up at him, just about to say something when he cut you off, trailing his fingers down your face and resting one on your bottom lip.
"God, you're so pretty, y'know that doll?"

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not many people knew what it was like to have known Dazai before he joined the Port Mafia. To be one of the few people who had been trusted by him. Keyword being ‘had’- for some, some unfathomable reason, he’d drifted away, leaving you behind, alone. Making you wonder if for some reason he wanted nothing to do with you anymore.
It hurt. It hurt that you could lose him so easily, despite having been with him throughout the years, making sure he knew that you would always be there for him, silently tending to him after yet another attempt. It hurt because you had no idea what you did wrong to push him away. It hurt because he didn’t care anymore, for you, for them, for your shared childhood.
A fool could have probably known that you shouldn’t have gotten so close to the brunette, that he leaves nothing but a trail of suffering and sorrow in the wake of the people who dared to care for him. You, however, argued that he wasn’t like this before. At all. Again, a fool’s excuse.
Perhaps the Port Mafia had changed him, so much more than it changed you. Because now, he was completely unrecognisable, almost like he was a different person altogether. And you can’t help but dully wonder where the man you once knew almost inside out went, the man who once did his best to stay with you no matter what, when he abandoned you yet again during a joint mission ordered by Mori, citing some logical reasons of why it was better for you to not be with him during a mission. (Like always.) Not even bothering to get your opinion or response, something he never did before joining the Mafia.
You watch silently as the brunette slowly disappears into the horizon, leaving you behind. Again.
That night, as you return to your apartment alone once again, (Bittersweet memories surface in your mind- young Dazai cheerily walking you back home, laughing.), you get the distinct feeling that something is off. You are a mafioso after all, you need to have a keen sense for danger to be alive in this industry. You’re instantly on high alert, even though you look calm as always, with your hands in your coat pockets, ready to pull out your knives in a moment. But you still can’t sense anyone following you. Just to be sure, you take a detour home.
You take a deep breath at the threshold of your door, relieved to be back here. That sense of danger wasn’t as prominent anymore, and you were dying to get some sleep in an attempt to get a certain brunette out of your mind. You’d deal with whatever the problem was tomorrow- you’d had enough today. You can’t help but smile forlornly as you walk into your dimly lit home-
-And then suddenly you’re falling, falling, into a void of darkness, surrounded by the people you care, by him, hurling words at you that stab you like a thousand knives in a nightmare, and dumbly you realise that you walked right into an ability user’s trap, before the unknown ability takes your consciousness, bringing a silent darkness and pain.
*********
Mimic. A foreign organisation, a group of extremely skilled soldiers who sought the Port Mafia for unknown reasons. People who are willing to go to extreme lengths to get what they wanted- much like your own boss, really. And the ones who are your captors.
You can’t move, you’ve been chained. You assume that they want someone valuable to the Mafia as a hostage, and apparently you serve the purpose well. And dammit, you’ve been completely disarmed while unconscious, you can’t feel a single weapon on you. You’re alone, too, but there’s definite signs that someone’s been here, multiple times. There’s also an assortment of sharp weapons some distance away from you, and you think its cruel to leave them in your sight but out of reach. There’s no windows or openings either.
Footsteps echo outside the door of the room you’ve been kept in, breaking your survey of the room and your thoughts of escape routes. Two men walk in, dignified. It’s clear that they are war-trained soldiers. One of them stops talking with a grin, as he notices you awake.
**********
They want an individual from the Mafia on orders of their boss. They claim that Mori has been taking too long in making a decision, and they apparently hope their decision to take you captive will either force Mori to choose, or force you to give up the individual’s identity yourself in exchange for your freedom under pressure. But you can’t, won’t do the latter.
Because the individual they want is Oda Sakunosuke, Dazai’s new best friend, and you know damn well that he would utterly despise you if you gave up his identity, if you took away the one who gave him his reason to smile these days. Bitter thoughts cloud your mind, of how he abandoned you completely over some new friends, and you wonder if it would be better to just tell them. But then, your mafia sense kicks in, reasoning that if Mori doesn’t want his identity to be revealed yet, then you're probably as good as dead if you choose for him instead and return alive. (You would later realise that this thinking, too, was planned out by Mori, that bastard.) Your captors let hints slide that they’ll let your absence build up for a while, then let the Mafia know of your being their captive. Hopefully they do something.
You’ll just have to do your best to get out of those damn bonds by then, or survive till then. This was a very convenient time to wish that Dazai had taught you his little trick on how to unlock handcuffs, you think wistfully.
*********
As it turns out, surviving is an extremely hard thing to do after a few days have passed since Mori was apparently informed about the news of your captivity. Mori still hadn’t responded with his decision. Proof being the various cuts and bruises littering your skin already, a few small bloodstains already on the wall and floor. Not too much. Yet. They were intent on forcing your answer out of you, and clearly wouldn’t mind going to extremes for it.
You did your utmost to not make a single reaction when the knife pierced through your skin again, despite the pain that shot through your body for the umpteenth time. Unfortunately, you were well trained on how to not divulge information in captivity- after all, the Port Mafia really couldn’t risk their insider secrets getting out.
You were still intent on escaping, on getting out. You still had a flicker of hope in you, that someone would come for you, that he might come for you, despite the past few days proving fruitless. You refused to give up yet. You still believed in him, in them, that you wouldn’t be abandoned so easily by your kin.
‘Such a naive belief’, you would dully think some days later.
********
Hope seemed like such a foolish thing now. You had lost track of time in the room without windows. No idea of how many days or weeks had passed. They weren’t coming for you. Of course they weren’t. You weren’t that important anyways, easily replaceable. Casualties happened often, what did it matter if someone died by being taken hostage? You truly attempted to free yourself, many times. You never succeeded, and each time you only received more wounds as punishment. Your captors were merciless, to say the least.
Wounds. That seemed like a small word to use at this point, with how battered and bruised you were. Your clothes were bloodsoaked, and you’d lost count of the number of scars and cuts you’d gained from your captors a long while ago. You could sense they were getting extremely frustrated by the lack of response. You didn’t mind, you didn’t care. You’d even stopped screaming when they cut you particularly deep- you just didn’t have any strength left in you at all. You passed out a few times from extreme blood loss. You could almost hear Mori in your mind, scolding you to get up already.
Mori. Of course, everything was probably a part of his heartless plans, fully willing to use any number of pawns for their execution.
At this point, you just wanted to be put out of your misery.
Your wish was granted some time- days?- later.
*******
Dazai was initially relieved when you didn’t show up to your next joint mission. He wouldn’t have to ensure your safety and hide his feelings again. But he’d quickly figured out that something was wrong when you didn’t show up again, and again, and you were nowhere to be seen around the Port Mafia buildings either. He’d gathered up the courage to go to your apartment, but had immediately sensed the ability at the entrance and deactivated it. That was what confirmed it for him, and finally, he allowed himself to feel fear for his childhood best friend. For you.
He was well aware that he didn’t deserve to, after how terribly he treated you in an attempt to protect himself from his emotions. His only defence was that he was afraid of hurting you- he knew his reputation well. But that didn’t matter right now- he had to find you. Except not a single person had a clue of your whereabouts. The only person he hadn’t questioned yet was Mori.
Somehow, he couldn’t bring himself to go beyond the doors of Mori’s office. He was scared. Scared of what he’d find.
Again, that would prove to be one of his biggest mistakes, when Kouyou grimly approached him, having accidentally obtained information about you that she wasn’t even supposed to know in Mori’s office. Kouyou cared for you enough to let Dazai know of your situation.
Dazai felt sick to the core when he saw the single picture attached in the message Kouyou sent him, along with a decision to choose between you and the future-seeing ability user- Odasaku. His heart dropped into his stomach even more when he saw that the last message was a few days ago. What if-?
No. Dazai refused to think of that possibility. He’d track down the source of that picture, he’d hunt them down, make them regret their decision, and he’d get you back. He’d make sure of it. He had too many apologies he owed to you after all, even if they would never make up for all that he’d done. He would.
*******
You were surprised that their boss hadn’t shown up to interrogate you yet. You simply stared hollowly at the walls as the door slammed open and the highest-ranked individual in the facility walked in, knife in hand.
Not a single piece of information slipped past your mouth, as he went through the routine torture process.
Time passes, and you can see that he’s grown extremely frustrated with your lack of response. One of the others standing at the door, watching your misery, suggested that he simply kill you and get it over with. It was pointless to keep you around anymore.
‘Finally’ you think darkly. You didn’t think you could hold out for much longer.
You close your eyes, not wanting to see your killer. Instead, you remember the people you care for, silently apologising to them for giving up. Somewhere, in the background, you hear the distant noises of shouting. Probably some of the other soldiers playing cards or something again.
Despite you willing yourself to not make a sound, a shattering scream tears itself out of your throat when you feel the knife harshly stabbed straight into your heart. Your killer twisted it roughly- another scream, your last- and then pulled the knife out.
You feel yourself fall forward, double in on yourself, wrists held back to the wall. The agony is excruciating, but hopefully it won’t last long. To you, it feels as if your screams are echoing in the room, or maybe in your mind, and your vision has gone blurry in pain. But then, you realise through your numb haze that your screams do not sound like that- you’ve heard the sound enough. You realize that maybe someone has attacked your captors.
There’s a terrified shout mixed in all the clamor, and its a voice that you would recognise anywhere. ‘But there’s no way’, you think hollowly. No one cared enough to come for you.
Then you feel yourself falling forward suddenly, blood gushing out from your chest, into someone’s familiar arms as your eyes close. The handcuffs are gone. Faintly, you hear a voice- his voice- through the ringing in your ears, saying something unintelligible to you. You can’t understand what's being said, but you struggle to open your eyes one last time to see.
And somehow, Dazai is there, holding you tightly, eyes full of panic and terror, everyone else in the room crushed to the ground. He’s saying something worriedly to someone behind him- Chuuya. You briefly wonder if you’re hallucinating, but decide against it- this all feels too real. This must have been the shouts in the distance.
They came for you. In the end, they came, albeit a bit too late. You feel yourself being lifted, and then Dazai is running out, holding you carefully as if you could break any moment- you’re already broken though. You feel the cool night breeze for the first time in ages, see the beautiful moon again. A small smile rests on your lips as you feel yourself finally fall limp in his arms. ‘He still looks as pretty as before, and maybe, just maybe, he still cares for you’, is what you think.
You shut your eyes again, surrendering yourself to the darkness beyond the agony.
********
Horrified is much too mild a word to use, when he sees your condition. When he sees you being stabbed in front of his eyes, when you fall limp in his arms. The next moments are a panicked blur, Chuuya saying something to take you somewhere, that he’ll handle this place. He runs straight out, towards the Mafia building, towards the doctors, towards the hospital, anywhere, anywhere you can be saved.
But its already too late, he knows it when you don’t move in his arms anymore, when your bleeding chest doesn’t rise and fall again, and he doesn’t know what else to do apart from screaming in sorrow and fear, because he’s just lost the one person who understood him like no one else, who cared for him like no one else, who he stupidly pushed away, and its all because of him. He falls to his knees, still clutching your lifeless, bleeding body. Your face had a hint of a smile in your last few moments, and that is what finally breaks him. All he can do is cry out apologies continuously, tears freely streaming down his face, for everything he’s done wrong, for how he’s treated you, for being too late to save you.
finallyyy, and as usual, votes, comments and reblogs are very much appreciated also lmk if you guys want a happy ending :D

and what are you going to do if the ADA-PM transfer never happens? What if Mori decides to trade that transfer for a different favour from the ADA? What if they argue they already paid the PM back with everything else? What if things go so badly there isn't even an ADA or a PM to trade with? What then?
The transfer threat already served a narrative purpose, it was there to have Yosano believe Mori wanted to drag her back in with him, it was there to cause her distress and have her reveal her backstory to everyone else and tie in with Tachihara's reveal as a Hunting Dog. It already created a situation that had an impact on the characters in the long term.
Depending on what direction the story is meant to go in from now, there may or may not be an opportunity for that transfer to even go through. It would require a lot of focus narratively, steal the show even, so unless someone volunteers in order to fix whatever new problem they will encounter from here, I don't think the transfer will go down the way it was expected to.

@originalaccountname holy shit Fukuchi with Statler and Waldorf tagging along and making fun of him everywhere he goes (also I did base Fukuchi's appearance off of them XD)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Statler and Waldorf have the special ability Peanut Gallery which renders them fully immune to physical damage, rendering Fukuchi's frequent attempts to murder them completely ineffective!
Tumblr media
also THISSS oh my gosh ok I've been having thoughts—
So, you know the whole thing of people in bsd developing abilities based on trauma?
Same thing happens in this AU, but they also become muppets at the same time! So pretty much every muppet was once a human, unless they're like Adam or Elise or Demon Snow and are projections of a muppet ability user. (Adam is a robot muppet built by a muppet [dr. Wollstonecraft, very smol]. He is very comfortable with this.)
This means that Chuuya, who doesn't remember where he came from, is worried that he might be a fully artificial muppet who was never a human being to begin with. This isn't helped by the fact that he joins the Sheep, who are all humans, so for most of his teen years Chuuya has to feel weird about being the lone muppet in his group of peers. This changes a bit when he joins the mafia, because suddenly he's around a lot of fellow muppets (and Dazai, who can temporarily turn Chuuya human again, which Chuuya really hopes is proof that he was in fact human at some point)
And Verlaine IS a fully artificial muppet, created to house a singularity, and he has decided to make it everyone else's problem! He is a murder muppet, in fact. A murppet. (Also I have been cackling over "Chuuya's a real muppet you're just sad you miserable pile of felt" ever since I read it thank you so much Nawy, every time I reread it it sends me off again skfjksdfj)
...So in the end I guess I have given Chuuya the exact same crisis as in canon, just with an extra layer of existential muppet dread over the top of it all. Hmm.
And now, other comments on my previous post that I want to highlight because they have been filling me with such joy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^I feel like that last one works really well with what I've come up with for stormbringer, because the stitches/stain can be Chuuya's proof that he did in fact exist before the lab (Mori finds records of a muppet having to be patched up after a fight with a kid) and thus was not created in the lab (although he was already a muppet)

Chuuya Nakahara:
Have you ever dreamed of what the perfect relationship is like? You and Chuuya have exactly that kind of love relationship. You discussed everything with each other, a caring and loving boyfriend (who is quite overprotective) and these same qualities can be said for you as well. Everything seemed perfect, but things haven't been right with you lately. And you were also worried that your boyfriend works a lot of overtime at the port mafia, and you know, even if he asked Mori for a few days off, he wouldn't get it because he was assigned such important tasks that only he can do (due to his ability).
One day, when you got home from tiring school, where you wrote a lot of final exams, you felt that you had to release all the anger and sadness you had accumulated. You didn't even hesitate, you changed your clothes, washed your face and drank a glass of water and then entered the bedroom you two shared. You laid down on the bed and let out a big sigh and started sobbing. After a while you suddenly heard the front door handle open and you thought "Someone broke in?" "Or... Chuuya got home early from work today..?" That would have been the worst possible outcome, so you quickly wiped away your tears and peeked out the door. You saw Chuuya just taking off his coat. You calmed yourself down and went over to greet him "Welcome home, my love". You buried your head in his neck so he couldn't see your teary red eyes. Chuuya sensed that something was wrong with you (you can't hide anything from him, he'll figure it out anyway). At first he just hugged you and said hello. There was concern and sadness on his face that what could have caused you to cry. He grabbed your shoulder and stood facing you, looking straight into your eyes. You tried to hide your face but you couldn't. "What happened baby?" He looked serious. You didn't answer him, you stood silently. Sighs and looks at you - "Do you want to talk about it?" No reaction from you. Looks at you, and strokes your hair.
You sat next to each other on the sofa and the silence was only broken by your soft sniffles. It was quite unpleasant for Chuuya, he didn't know what to do and it hurt him terribly that you were crying and he couldn't help you. He felt that you were angry with him for having to work so much overtime. But he only wanted good for you with that. Suddenly you start crying again from the tension, then you get up and want to walk away from Chuuya, but he grabs your hand and pulls you close. "Umm, can you tell me why you started crying, darling? I want to understand the reason behind this." You mutter. "Why do you have to work so much overtime? You hardly have time for me and I miss you a lot..." He pulls you closer and hugs you tightly. "Hey, hey there, stop crying please." "Now I'm here for you and everything is fine, I promise I'll try to get home from work as soon as possible and spend more time with my little darling." Chuuya's reassuring words made you feel relieved and safe, nothing and no one could hurt you now. You laid your head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat as he caressed your cheeks and whispered soothing words in your ear. You fell asleep peacefully on the couch hugging each other.
Your boyfriend wanted you to be loved by him, so he wanted to spoil you in as many ways as possible. Since money was not a problem for him, he took you to a huge mall and bought you everything you looked at. But of course he knew that love and happiness cannot be bought with money. That's why he arranged with Mori to get 2 days off every week to spend with you. He even arranged for you to be with him during this time when he got a non-dangerous job. You were very happy and so was he, that he could spend so much time with his love.
Chuuya is a very caring and interested boyfriend who tries to do everything for the happiness and safety of the two of you.

Ranpo Edogawa:
You and Ranpo have quite an interesting relationship, since Ranpo gets along best with people of the same intelligence level as him, but that 200 IQ is not so easy to achieve. You know Ranpo has a childish and immature persona, to hide all of the grief and darkness he’s seen. You can't have many secrets in front of Ranpo, since he finds out about all the mysteries and your secrets anyway, or already knows about them but doesn't tell you. He really likes when you take care of him a lot, he is very demanding, but he also likes to reciprocate this.
Ranpo usually spends most of his time in the office, except when the great detective has to solve mysteries. When he finishes work and leaves the agency, the first thing he does is call you and ask how your day was. He called you as usual, but you didn't pick up the phone. At first, your boyfriend thought that you had work to do and were not up to it. He was calling you almost every 20 minutes and that was enough for Ranpo to start worrying about you. He rushed home as fast as he could, ran up the stairs to your apartment, opened the door and immediately looked around every corner of the apartment, but he couldn't find you anywhere. He tried to call you one last time but was unsuccessful. He immediately began to wonder where you might be or with whom. It occurred to him that you might be at the shared favorite places in Yokohama Park, because you used to go there often when you were mentally ill. It was late afternoon when Ranpo got to the park, but he didn't see you anywhere. Your boyfriend has always been calm and handled such situations calmly, but now somehow he was completely upset and nervous. He was very worried about you.
He looked for you everywhere until he finally saw you sitting alone on the beach. The soft wind blew your hair and the gentle waves on the shore barely touched the soft skin of your legs. Ranpo slowly started walking towards you and when he got there he leaned over you. "What is my honey doing here?" He smiled at you as you looked into his eyes in surprise. "Nothing. I just came here to escape from my thoughts." He looked at you suspiciously and then spoke "And that's why you can't answer my calls?" You could sense that Ranpo was mad at you, but even with that you didn't want to tell him the truth (not that you needed to tell him). "Who was that?" He asked calmly as he placed both hands on the back of his head. You were very surprised when he said that, but as expected of him, he already knew everything about what happened in advance. He wanted to sound solid with the previous question, but it didn't go well. You stood up and faced him, tugging at the bottom of your shirt. He hugged you and then held your hand. "It will rain my love, let's go home and talk about everything that happened." You two headed home. During the walk, Ranpo asked you how your day was and similar questions. Talking to him completely took your mind off the bad things. His hand was warm as always and he held your tiny hand protectively and tightly, it gave you peace.
When you got home to your apartment, your boyfriend made you two hot tea and you sat down at the table in the living room. You poured your heart out to him, he listened carefully and tried to provide you with solutions to your problems. If you swayed even a little during the conversation and started to cry, Ranpo sat closer to you and put his hand on your thigh. "My my, so sensitive, my poor sweetie." He smiles and kisses your nose. "Let's do something together to distract you, okay?"
He's a bit sarcastic and makes a lot of jokes when it comes to things like that. But if all this happens to you, then he try to do his best and put his childish behavior aside.

Oda Didn’t Understand Dazai: An Opinion By Me
Tumblr media
@catboychuuuya wanted me to elaborate on that bit in my Soukoku post about Odasaku not really understanding Dazai. I aim to please, so here I am.
Let’s begin
Part A: Buraiha Trio
Oda wasn’t necessarily a bad friend. He just didn’t really know what to do with Dazai. I actually think Ango was both a better friend toward, and had a better understanding of, Dazai (Oda pushed Dazai toward the light, but Ango was the reason he got to stay there).
Oda decided that Dazai should live in the light, but I think Ango always thought he belonged there. Like he knew that Dazai had the potential to be good.
In the prologue of the Dark Era light novel, Ango is the one truly bothered by Dazai’s apathy and suicidal tendencies. Oda has very mild reactions to all of it. Dazai is basically crying out for help, and Oda’s reactions are very indulgent (kind of “that’s nice, sweetie”).
"'Oh yeah, I created a new hot-pot recipe. Would you guys be up to trying it next time we hang out? I call it the 'superhuman stamina pot.' You can run for hours without getting tired after eating it. It’s a dream of a—'
'Not in a million years,' Ango sternly declined.
'If it keeps you from getting tired, then it might be pretty useful before a hard day's work,' I added.
'…Odasaku, that's exactly the problem right there. You're enabling Dazai. You don't speak up, and that's why he goes off the rails.'
I see. So this was what Ango meant by 'enabling' him. You learn something new every day."
Now, again, Oda was not a bad person or friend. It’s normal to joke around with your friends. But also, I think it’s pretty clear (Particularly in Storm Bringer and the Dark Era) that Dazai was genuinely struggling in the mafia. He was extremely unhappy.
Another problem with Oda is that he put Dazai on a pedestal like almost everyone else in the mafia (exceptions are Chuuya and Ango for sure).
"No matter what he did, Dazai seemed to reach heights that normal people couldn’t."
The difference between Odasaku and the rest of the mafia is that Dazai greatly admired Odasaku. He admired his belief system and resolve. That’s why I think it’s so sad that Oda didn’t really understand Dazai, because Dazai took Oda’s word as gospel.
There’s one last quote from the prologue that I want to talk about:
"We had a saying in the Port Mafia: 'The greatest misfortune for Dazai’s enemies is that they are Dazai’s enemies.' If he wanted to, he could even have a picnic in the middle of a firefight. Dazai was practically born to be in the Mafia."
This is the first case where I think it’s clear that Oda has a fundamental misunderstanding of Dazai.
Dazai was not born to be in the mafia. He was groomed to be in mafia by Mori. Mori picked him because he was an extremely intelligent, yet directionless child. I think we all spend so much time thinking of Dazai as a puppet master that we forget that he is also capable of being manipulated himself.
Dazai is eighteen during the Dark Era. Eighteen. He’s a teenager. He’s not a mastermind. He’s a lost kid in desperate need of guidance. He spent four incredibly formative years of his life suffering under Mori’s thumb (One before officially joining the mafia, three after). Odasaku was Dazai’s hope, someone he could look to instead of Mori. He wanted to be like him so badly.
Part B: Something to Live For
“Odasaku…,” Dazai said softly. “Forgive me for the absurd wording, but—don’t go. Find something to rely on. Expect good things to happen from here on out. There’s gotta be something…”
Yeah, you read that right. Dazai just presented an optimistic outlook on life.
He’s speaking to someone who has just lost his main purpose in being in the mafia, taking care of those orphans. Yet, he’s begging him to find a new reason to live anyway.
Part C: Last Words
That brings me to Odasaku’s final moments.
“‘You won’t find it,’ Odasaku said in almost a whisper. Dazai stared at him. ‘You should know that. Whether you’re on the side that takes lives or the side that saves them, nothing beyond your own expectations will happen. Nothing in this world can fill the hole that is your loneliness. You will wander the darkness for eternity.’”
Okay, so, Odasaku is right that Dazai won’t find purpose in the darkness, but he’s wrong about why. Dazai is not an empty person incapable of happiness. Even though Dazai thinks this means that Odasaku understood him well, we can’t forget that Dazai doesn’t really understand himself. His feelings. His mind. Dazai genuinely believes that nothing can make him happy, but he’s wrong and the consequences to Oda’s words are huge.
Now, Dazai thinks he’s a villain pretending to be hero. He thinks he’s inherently empty. WHICH IS WRONG.
Think about why Dazai went to Oda’s side in the first place. Because Oda was his friend. Dazai put his personal feelings first in that situation, and he does that more often than people tend to notice. He’s actually motivated by emotions a lot.
During Storm Bringer, Dazai basically moves Heaven and Earth to stop Verlaine and keep Chuuya in the mafia.
“‘I joined the Mafia because of an expectation I had. I thought if I was close to death and violence—close to people giving in to their urges and desires, then I would be able to see the inner nature of humankind up close. I thought if I did that…’ Dazai paused before continuing, ‘…I would be able to find something—a reason to live.’”
We have to remember who prompted Dazai to think that, Chuuya. An idea born from Dazai’s relationship to another person, not the idea itself, was what made him join the mafia.
Ranpo is definitely autistic coded, but so is Dazai. Since No Longer Human was extremely influential on BSD, and that novel has a lot of autobiographical elements in it, it makes sense that Dazai seems autistic. After reading No Longer Human myself, I really do think that Osamu Dazai (the author) was autistic. Yōzō’s (the protagonist of No Longer Human) behavior is very autistic. I mean, at one point, he describes masking verbatim.
I’m mentioning this because I think that what Dazai hopes to understand is not a reason to live itself, but other people’s motivation to live. It’s an extension of the very autistic feeling of alienation from other people. Dazai thinks there’s something wrong with him because despite caring about other people a lot, he has trouble understanding their illogical behavior. He also struggles to understand his own illogical behavior.
I also think this is why Oda struggles to understand Dazai. Because people who aren’t autistic usually struggle to understand autism. Autistic people often get profiled as ‘sociopaths’ (an outdated term that refers to Antisocial Personality Disorder) and are seen as emotionless monsters.
Dazai distances himself from other people as a defense mechanism. In his own words, “I always lose the things I don’t want to lose the most. That’s why I don’t feel anything anymore. The moment you get your hands on something worth going after, you lose it. That’s just how things are. There is nothing worth pursuing at the cost of prolonging a life of suffering.” I think that indicates that he cares very much about the people in his life, but that he also lives in constant fear of losing them.
Conclusion
I don’t know how well I articulated any of this (I’m neurodivergent, can you tell?), but my point is that Odasaku took a lot about Dazai at face value, instead of trying to peel back the layers and understand him as a person. He ended up dehumanizing Dazai a bit in the process.
Dazai is far from perfect, but he’s also not inhuman.
I think about this quote from Atsushi a lot, “People need to be told they’re worthy of being alive by someone else or they can’t go on.” Like, what would have happened if someone told Dazai his life was worth living even without some grand purpose?
