So (if you've seen it) what do you think of episode 2?

Here's some thoughts!

GANGLE

When will Gangle know happiness...

KINGER

Kinger was adorable as always. I like how the others can rely on him when they're feeling emotionally vulnerable. That scene with Ragatha and her self-doubt, and how Kinger reassures her? I'm glad he has these moments of clarity. Old man even tries to help Pomni, even if he's bad at it. He's so well intentioned. <3

JAX

Jax is a terrible person. He was already very bad before, but somehow got worse. No care for his companions (Pomni and Gangle mostly), no care for the NPCs (he was very eager to see them die horribly). There's some indication Jax might have cared about Kaufmo, but overall, his attitude is so dissonant. It's hard to understand what's really going on inside his head.

RAGATHA

I like that Ragatha didn't hold any grudges over Pomni abandoning her in episode 1. Ragatha is just so sweet. Constantly worrying for Pomni's well being, being considerate enough to try to cheer up Jax of all people. She makes a huge difference in this group, like a glue that keeps everyone together.

GUMMIGOO

LOVED Gummigoo. Yeah I wasn't prepared for him. I didn't know what to expect of him (he looked like a serious bad guy type?), but what we got was so good. Loves his two gummy gator friends (wants to preserve their minds from the weight of self-awareness). His connection to Pomni, the way they could relate, it was all believable and palpable. Nice guy.

POMNI

Pomni herself was my favorite. Compassionate, empathetic, expressing her thoughts calmly and sincerely. Determined, inventive - trying to find ways to get herself and Gummigoo out of that place.

I think the fact that she spent most of these two episodes physically separated from everyone else was no coincidence. Pomni was disconnected from them. The dream sequence at the beginning? A reflection of her own doubts and fears. That she's nothing, or that no one in the circus would care if she was gone. So she, either intentionally or by happenstance, distanced herself.

I'm super happy that the episode ended on a hopeful note. Pomni found that her companions would care for her and remember her, and so it turned her views on her head. She's not alone. She has people that she can rely on.....

KAUFMO

(The Kaufmo funeral was very touching too, especially with Zooble organizing it. I've seen jokes that no one cared much that he died in episode 1, so seeing otherwise was pretty cool.)

FANDOM

I hold no ill will against Caine, and this is coming from someone who really really liked Gummygoo (literally screamed a big NOOO when he poofed). It's a little concerning how feral people are getting about Caine.

CAINE

Speaking of Caine, I need understanding between them, I need it SO bad. He keeps making these little decisions that impact the human characters. Especially Pomni. And he's not even aware of how much it hurts them, or that it's harmful at all!!

The way some of them are so dismissive (Zooble waiting for him to go away), annoyed, or only see Caine as a bot that fixes things when everything goes wrong... it makes me think they've tried to reason with him before, and it didn't work, so now they treat him like the machine he is to them.

As of now, Pomni understands him as much as everyone else does. She's frustrated, she's livid, and she has every reason to want to punch his teeth in. But after episode 2???? Considering how sympathetic Pomni was with Gummigoo, an NPC/AI himself???? I have a little hope that Pomni can actually get through to Caine in the future.

BRF Reading - 4th of May, 2024

Cards drawn on the 4th of May, 2024

Question: What does Princess Catherine think about being appointed to the Order of the Companions of Honour?

Interpretation: Honestly, right now, I don't think she cares one way or another.

Card One: Four of Cups, reversed

The Four of Cups is a card about being indifferent to something, a 'Thanks but no thanks" card, a card about missing or rejecting opportunities. In the reverse, either these feelings become intensified, or it becomes a card of awareness, being open to and accepting opportunities, accepting what is offered with thanks.

None of those meanings fit the energy I am getting from this card, which is just blankness. There is no rejection energy, but there is no eager acceptance energy either.

The picture on the card shows Psyche sitting between her two sisters, who are talking to her non stop, as she gazes out over the cups. In this reading, Psyche represents Catherine, and the Psyche on the card comes across as zoned out, i.e. completely disconnected from what is going on around her. She has other things that are occupying her mind. This tells me that Princess Catherine doesn't have any strong emotions about her latest honour. She will accept it politely, but she is detached from the process. All her emotions are concentrated on something else (i.e. getting well) and being awarded that honour is barely making a ripple on the surface of her feelings. She just does not care - she has bigger things to worry about.

What I hear in my mind is a detached "Oh, that's nice. Thank you" polite acceptance of the honour, and then it is put down and her attention is once again focused on the things that matter to her at this time (her family and friends).

Card Two: The Page of Wands

This is the same card I got in the reading for Prince Charles, in the same position. Pages are messages, and Wands can be PR. Princess Catherine knows that she was awarded this honour as part of a public message of support by King Charles III. Again, I'm getting a very blank/detached energy here, She knows the PR message behind awarding her the honour but she just does not have the energy to care. The energy feels like someone saying politely "Thank you very much for doing that" and then immediately refocusing on their own concerns. There is no interest, no excitement or hurt feelings, nothing. It simply does not matter to her at this stage what King Charles does to publicly show his support for her. I am getting gratitude for the support, but even that is a detached feeling.

Card Three: The Two of Cups in Reverse

The Two of Cups is about partnerships, romantic, familial, friendships, business partners, etc. In the reverse. the partnership is broken, or there is separation from something or rejection of something, or there is an imbalance in a relationship.

There is a bit more emotion in this card than the others, but still not a lot. So mainly blankness, but also an energy of irritation - Catherine was faintly irritated or annoyed by something - and an energy of imbalance, as though she had to accept the honour when she really would have rather said no.

Did King Charles try to turn this into a PR piece to improve his image? Or to show how close he was to Princess Catherine, or something like that? It could even be Queen Camilla. I'm getting a sense that Princess Catherine was asked to do something that she did not want to do and she had to tell the person No, possibly several times, before they backed off.

I drew a clarifier and it was The Hierophant, so whatever this was it concerned the BRF, or members of the BRF, and I am getting the energy that it was for PR of some sort (as per the previous card), and Princess Catherine said No, she would not exploit her condition like that.

The overall energy of this card is of someone saying in a voice full of exhaustion 'Just go away and leave me alone, please. The answer is No.'

Whatever happened, it has weakened the bond between Princess Catherine and this member of the BRF. I have asked who the other person is, but I'm not getting a clear answer. It is not Prince William. The energy is of a family bond, but not a romantic one, and also of a power imbalance, which is why I am thinking The King or The Queen, but it could be anyone in the family who is 'higher up' in the hierarchy than she is.

Underlying Energy: The Ten of Wands

This is the card for feeling burdened or carrying a burden, and that is exactly how Princess Catherine is feeling. The energy of this card is of someone who is exhausted and who really does not care about anything outside their immediate concerns, because they don't have the energy and the emotional resources to deal with anything other than what they are currently going through.

This could also indicate that Princess Catherine sees her appointment to the Order of the Companions of Merit as more of a burden than anything else at this point in time.

Conclusion:

The overwhelming energy of this reading is of blankness, someone who is too tired and too focused on other things to have the resources to care very much, if at all, about this latest honour. If Princess Catherine does think anything about it, she is more likely to see it as a burden in her current state than anything else, although of course she would accept it politely. All her energy is focused elsewhere and she does not have the time/space/resources to care very much about this award.

Princess Catherine is aware of the PR message in giving her this honour, and she is grateful for the show of support, but she is also too tired and too focused elsewhere to care very much about it.

Something happened in association with being awarded this honour, some sort of emotional blackmail being used to get her to agree to something or an imbalance of power being used to get her to agree to something, and she had to say No very firmly, and that irritated her and has caused a small rift between her and the other person involved. She is annoyed that they were so persistent and would not take No for an answer or that they tried to manipulate her when she was so unwell and stressed.

The overall energy of this reading is of someone who is so tired and so focused on other things that they just don't have the space to care very much about being awarded this honour and the significance of the award etc. It does not matter to them at this point in time.

On the DSMP seasons debate thingy recently.

Um yeah, DSMP fans have been using the season distinctions for years. It may be irrelevant to the CCs but well the fandom exists beyond the CCs.

It’s convenient for fans discussing the SMP. That’s why they exist.

Fandom spaces don’t need to be aligned with what the content creators believe when it comes to fandom terminology. Similarly we don’t ask the CCs for duo names, fans come to agree about them amongst themselves.

Fans don’t want to rewrite the wiki and tvtropes pages and other old posts to fit this new model. That’s not disrespectful to the CCs, the CCs opinions are valued but they’re in charge of the content, not the fandom which is it’s own entity.

#fandom terms are the fans business #it’s annoying that there’s a disconnect #but the CCs are shaking things up here by taking what already has a clear definition in the fandom ie S2 #and making it mean something else #fans would’ve have been cool with season 5 or vol 2 or even series 2 and they suggested this #it’s not a big deal but it is annoying #but the point here is that fans don’t have to swap over if they prefer the old way #dream SMP #meta #discourse

unpopular opinion but i really miss those days when it was all about the music in taylor swift fandom

never gonna stop thinking about the fact that desire is the only one of dream's siblings who has never ignored him when he's asked for help

ngl, it's kinda embarrassing that so many people are angry about the teaser that Matt will be GMing the next season of D20 because [checks Twitter] "its really shitty to drop the teaser now while the current season is airing and pull attention away like this, don't punish the current season by stealing from it like this" (actual complaints seen)

this teaser is largely for people who don't WATCH D20 at all, hence the longer lead time for marketing, to make sure people who don't normally keep tabs on D20's schedule know when the next season they may be interested in (because these people don't watch the current season to begin with) starts. and, honestly, there is sometimes a problem where people who aren't watching the current season are caught off guard that there is ALREADY a new season, sometimes the lead time between initial teaser and premiere feels so short.

like, I promise people aren't going to STOP watching Neverafter because of this teaser, and D20 isn't going to stop promoting the current season. "we have an upcoming project" isn't a slight against the current project, and it's baffling this is such a common thought—even outside of this specific instance, it's always confusing. I do not understand why people think this is a punishment (again, actual word someone used). why do people think giving proper attention and work to projects means you aren't allowed to speak of each of them near each other.
