Best New Heavy Metal Releases Week of October 21st, 2022

I keep saying I need to make these posts shorter and then I ramble on. So this week is a VERY concerted effort to keep this short and sweet. Let’s get to the highlights.

Sede Vacante-Conium (Gothic/Symphonic/Heavy)**

Modern style Heavy Metal with fantastic female vocals and symphonic elements. Heavier than you would normally find in this genre, which also makes it stand out.

Iron Allies-Blood In Blood Out (Heavy)**

Another AFM “Supergroup”. Not sure if this is organic or put together by the label but we have former members of Accept, Sinner, Victory and Primal Fear. The biggest name here is Herman Franck. If you like any of the aforementioned bands, you will like this.

Wormgod-Where Old Curses Rest (Black)**

Old school Black Metal from Romania with a bit of atmospheric moments thrown in. For fans of bands in the vein of Satyricon, Taake, Darkthrone and Immortal.

Avantasia- A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society (Power)**

What can you say about Tobias Sammet that hasn’t already been said? The guy is a musical genius and knows exactly how to write catchy music with a very broad appeal. This is definitely more of the same as what you expect from him. Sascha Paeth’s guitar work on this album is absolutely phenomenal and deserves to be mentioned as well.

Exhumed-To The Dead (Death)**

Another band like Avantasia, that does not need me to tell you how damn good they are. This is Exhumed doing Exhumed and doing it as good as ever. Hands down one of the best Death Metal bands out there. If you are a Death Metal fan and dislike Exhumed, I don’t think you actually like Death Metal.

That will do it for another week and my first attempt at REALLY trying to keep this short. It is, after all, about the music itself and not what I actually think about it. Ultimately, it is what you, the reader of this, actually find enjoyable. Highlighting bands you may not know about was the initial purpose of this. That being said, if you prefer a little more information in the highlight write up sections, send me a message and let me know. This is always a work in progress, after all.
