I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!! Okay so honestly I have been very very inconsistent over the years with just disappearing for periods of time due to various things 😂 So it probably seemed pretty normal to most people.

But it felt different on my side, so I'm excited to be back in business. I took a month long hiatus! 31 days of not drawing digital art. Its not something I talk about on here? But I've been suffering from some serious long term Art Burnout for.... a really really long time. Long enough that I should've taken a break probably years ago. It finally got so bad that I could barely draw. I was scared to do it (cause it always looked "bad" in my eyes [i'll come back to that]) and doing it was exhausting and disheartening.

I talked it over with somebody and realized that the fear and anger and frustration I felt towards my own artwork was uh. Not Normal or Healthy. And I finally committed to taking a real break for once.

I still drew a little bit by hand? Traditional art has always felt like it has lower stakes for me (i don't often share it online, and sometimes I don't even share it with friends) so I did some of that when I felt like it. But Digital art was completely off the table.

I had put such an immense pressure on myself to make my digital art perfect, to make as much of it as quickly as possible to satisfy something. It wasn't fun anymore. I'm proud of what i've made over the years! But for a long time now the stuff I've been making was made while hating every second of making it. With some rare exceptions.

I hated my art! It was a combination of Perfectionism, taking in too many external expectations, and the burnout. If you hate doing something its kinda hard to love it even when you want too lol. It wasn't "Bad" in the sense that the quality was low and it was ugly! It was "Bad" in the sense that it was unhealthy for me to keep doing it at that point in time.

I'm glad to report though, that with my hiatus officially over as of Wednesday last week: I am once again. In Love. With doing art, and being an artist :)

I put off taking a break for years cause I was scared that taking a break would mean that I would never achieve all the things I wanted to do with art. I was scared it was a stupid and lazy thing to do that would mean I'd never achieve my dreams. And Also even though I kinda hated drawing, I also loved making art. Its a weird duality that I can't even really explain??? I hated it but I also loved it. I wanted it but I also wanted to run from it. It wasn't until I was more mature and had more clarity and insight (and unfortunately also until the problems got worse) that I was finally able to let go of those fears and just do it.

And I'm really really glad I did. It was everything I needed. And I hope to strike a better balance in the future with art. Taking more breaks when I need them, or just when other things have my attention like reading or Video games (Some star rail got played during this time xD)

From the outside things probably aren't going to be that different?? At this point I don't really have any sure plans to post anything I've been drawing since my Hiatus ended. I might or I might not xD I'm still a hobbyist artist taking things at her own pace, but I hope that it shows how much happier I am :)

Whumptober 2023 is being officially put to rest by this post btw! I was in major burnout when that event started, and I'm ready to just, move on from all the past expectations I'd shoved on my shoulders. If I feel like filling any of the prompts or going back to any of the ideas I'd come up for it I will! But I'm not going to worry about doing it unless the desire sets in. Thanks to everybody who's been so kind to me throughout my time on here as an artist! Ya'lls tags and screaming and kind words, the fanfic, the asks and the responses? Its been fantastic :) You guys have made me laugh, smile, and cry tears of joy. I hope from here that things only get better and sweeter! And if I have bad days again, that's okay too.

Who will right?#And I want to learn how to be happy with how little or how much I get #part of the reason I've done so poorly mentally as an artist is chasing numbers and outside praise instead of asking the harder questions #am i happy with what i do? what I make? Who I am #I'm going to probably be working on those questions and problems for the rest of my life.#But thats okay. Thats not a bad thing :)

I’ve been tagged like 2.5 times - Officially by @jhoomwrites and @dmsilvisart but also unnofficially by @blue-reveries

Rules are: Describe yourself with ONLY pictures you have. You cannot download or search any new pictures and you have to tag 10 people.

Okay so this was super hard. Do you KNOW how many pictures I have? Not even my artwork, but just photography? And then picking which things represent me??? And there was no mention of a photo limit either!

Then of course Tumblr loads them weird. It’d be nice if it had an option on how to arrange them, cause then I’d arrange several more of these large tall ones into the triptych it did on its own and save some of your dashes.

Okay pictures:

1 - Knitting = This is one of my newer additions though I haven’t been knitting much lately and this particular project is actually not finished. oops 2 - Wayward Rats = SPN, Ferrets AND GISHWhes 3 - Vision = Thats my vision or pretty close to it. My eye doctor helped me put that together after i told him of my little art project to attempt to show people HOW bad my eyes are cause no one ever believes me. 4 - Tea! using my artist eye/photography skills 5 - Bacon. @jdragon122 knows what i’m talking about 6 - Supernatural in general and Castiel in particular :D 7 - Art! My art of course (and Supernatural too... :P ) 8 - Writing 9 - Magic’s Pawn = my love of reading and fantasy stories and just, this is probably one my favorite books. It’s a little beat up but it’s over 20 years old. I don’t know how many times I’ve read it. i’ve used it for my Senior Project in College to graduate. And its the first time i ever read anything that didn’t have a straight character in it (and then promptly got in trouble for sharing it) 10 - More tea cause i seriously love tea - specifically Earl Grey but also because it shows ferrets too. i got that mug at FerretStock :D its my favorite mug 11 - Zelda = I love the legend of Zelda. this picture is out of date. I have quite a few more Zelda things now but it’s all too scattered in my mess of a house to even attempt an updated picture. 12 - Puzzles = I love all games in general. Video games, board games, card games, puzzles. so this is to represent the games.

So, you wanna make a Wendip playlist, eh?

Hey, all! @ddp456 here, and today, I want to show you all how to make a Wendip themed music playlist for our upcoming Wendip Week 2018.

Funny as it may sound, but to me, music definitely plays a huge part when involving these two adorable dorks. Whenever it’s writing new outlines/fics, going over the edits and proofreads of the Protector comic, or even writing this tutorial, I have some tunes playing in the background to keep me in the right mindset.

With that, I want to show you a few killer ways that you all can share with the rest of us what choice pieces come to mind when thinking about our favorite partners in crime. Are they romantic? Or adventurous? Or even sad and melancholy?

With that, I present two ways of presenting your favorite songs as a Wendip playlist.

The first is very simple. Simply make a Text-based Tumblr post with a list of your favorite Wendip themed songs. Highlight your text and select the link option. In the blank space, insert the web address to where we can hear the song. Also, feel free to provide a reason of why you think said song is perfect Wendip material.

One note before proceeding: similar to what my buddy @nautiscarader stated about proper copyrights when concerning fanarts, we must urge the same with music as well. It is best recommended that try to sticking to the original source when using copyrighted material (for example, try an artist’s official Youtube channel). This way, the right people get the right props for their hard work.

Here’s my example:

1. “Invincible,” by Crossfade Dipper, up late and all alone, lies in bed and thinks about Wendy

2. “Shut Up and Dance,” by Walk the Moon The song playing during their off-screen dance during "Double Dipper."

3. “Fist Bump,” by Douglas Robb of Hoobastank Dipper and Wendy's Weirdmageddon war song!

4. “Summer is Over” by Jon McLaughlin ft. Sara Bareilles Their summer memories and their farewell...

Nice and simple, right?

Now, if you wanted to make it a bit more polished, per se, you can reach out and make a new account with our friends at 8tracks.com. This site allows users to create their own playlist to share with others. Granted, there are occasional ads, and you can’t skip too many songs in one sitting, but the price is definitely right.

As in the picture above, create a new account (no need for the paid version unless you want to skip ads) and click on the small silver sphere in the right corner (that’s your future avatar). Select Create Playlist.

Welcome to your Playlist’s home page! Here, you’ll be asked to

-upload your included songs (obtained legally, of course!) -fill in the blanks when it comes to proper info on your tracks (artist, album, year made, etc.) Make it classy! Also, add a link to where people can buy the real deal (Amazon, Apple, etc)) -give your playlist a name, cover art (again, give props in your description if using other people’s artwork) and search tags (as I did above) Make sure you add a “WendipWeek” tag so we can find you out there! -give each track a special annotation as to why it’s there. Share your mind!

To be published, your playlist must have at least 8 songs on it. Switch between different songs by dropping your unused ones into your “My Crate” column for future use. You can also change the order of your playlist by dragging a selected song to the top/bottom and so on.

Don’t be weirded out if you go to play your song and it cuts off. Only when the playlist is posted, will you be able to hear the full version. For this, it is highly recommended that give your playlist a quick listen after publishing to make sure all uploads went smoothly.

When finished, hit that Publish button, and you’ll notice a Share button in the center of the screen. Hit that guy, and a ton of different options will pop up. Select the giant “T” (take a guess what that means) and you’ll see this:

Select your blog, add your tags (cough “WendipWeek” cough) and voila!
