An analysis on Ritsuko

spoiler warning for Neon Genesis Evangelion

Trigger warning for- mention of r*pe, manipulation, abuse, suicide/ideation.

Ritsuko doesn’t talk much about herself- i think she was supposed to be the more thinking thank feeling, logical over emotional (while Misato was the exact opposite) which is makes up most of their arguments. Ritsuko prioritizes the practicality and Misato was willing to risk anything so save the pilots. That’s not to say she’s completely unfeeling. Both her and Rei are often seen as less feeling but both have feelings, just both very traumatized people being “put in place” and hurt by the same man, Gendo- We will get to more of that later. During episode 11 the MAJI is compromised by Iruel- we learn about her relationship with her mother, Misato asks after being explained that the MAJI is 3 parts of Naoko’s personality, “is that why you wanted to protect it?” and she said “not really,”remember she witnessed her mother be manipulated by gendo too, which it’s hinted at that’s why she said “as a woman, I hated her” because the scenes they are seen interacting they got along pretty well- so it can be assumed that it was her as a woman that loved Gendo. And In the end, Caspar, the program meant to be her as a woman is was rejected Ritsuko’s plan to stop Gendo, which she saw as taking Gendo’s side. In one of Ritsuko’s most important scenes in the whole show, she is brought to interrogation after destroying the Rei and she says "Why not have your way with my body?! Like that time!" To gendo. This is the dub, The original Japanese uses "陵辱" (usually present as "degradation/degraded" in the localization), can effectively mean "rape" . There’s also some righteous suspicion SEELE’s interrogation previously was more than just an interrogation technique to have her naked- which could explain why all her feelings about what happened with Gendo are coming up now. She was not only sent to save Rei the visit, she felt all those emotions from surviving SA in the past. On top of this, remember she’s realizing she’s repeating her mothers mistakes, being manipulated by the same man So all this in Ritsuko’s life can now be directed at one man- and she knows his pride and joy, his life’s work, and in a fit of traumatized rage and destroys the dummy system. Now, the show made her EXTREMELY similar to her mother, Naoko destroyed one Rei, and Ritsuko destroyed the backups. (If you are confused about the difference between to dummy system and Rei tank, basically they are the same name for one thing bc it had two uses) Naoko admitted she wasn’t around enough as a mother, being so heavily involved in her work, then Ritsuko’s cat dies and in the sub she says “I see, so the child is gone?” It’s been hinted at these cats are family to her before, Misato said it more of a snappy remark when on edge, and in general Ritsuko has a lot of cat themed items around almost like a proud parent showing off pictures of their children- but she’s a little to kept to herself for that. When she was interrogated by Gendo she starts with talking about how her cat died, that’s probably out of all the things that’s happened to her and that’s she’s done the only thing she can begin to emotionally process, or maybe she’s trying to get across her pain- after all that’s a huge plot of this show, can we ever really know each others pain? Here she mentions how she was never around because of work, her grandmother had taken care of her cat for her. Another similarity to her mother, though this was a cat and not a human, she still called the cat “the child” so it’s clear we can see how much they meant to her. Basically it’s salt on the wound of “I’m just like my mother. Making all her same mistakes” she never had time for who she loved, completely devolving herself in her work, being manipulated and used by the same man, and even destroying the same person, carrying the same regret and sentiment afterwards ritsuko tells Misato she’d be doing her a favor if she shot her, almost mimicking her mother- after her mother killed Rei jumped off the MAJI.

For as kind-hearted and curious of the Lilin as Nagisa was, he knew evil when he saw it.

He was aware of the history of the human race that was he was so fond of. Their achievements, their atrocities. Most of which he had learned through books. But to see such evil not as a figment of the past that should remain only as a reminder of what must not be repeated, but as a nightmare made manifest? Torturing the innocent who fell prey to them?

Oh, how they thought themselves so high and mighty, the best and brightest above all others. But in their hubris, they would be undone by something that was not even of this world but of another so far, far away; an Angel.

Not of the kind that came from Heaven above and sang God’s name in praise. Not of the kind that called out holy, holy, holy! around the throne of the Lord, if He even existed. No, the Angels that Kaworu knew of were, in comparison, utterly alien. Some were cunning, such as Leliel or Iruel. Some held immense strength at their command, like Ramiel or Zeruel. But there was one that stood above them all - perhaps not through power or tactical intellect, but through uniqueness alone.

Kaworu Nagisa, otherwise known as Tabris, the Angel of Free Will. He bore the soul of the progenitor of all Angels, Adam. And it was through Tabris that those thought themselves the predator would come to realize that they were, in fact, the prey - and they would bear witness to the wrath of god in all it’s fury.

To the N.az.is that had pulled him from wherever he was originally and tried to contain and study him like a lab rat, they would find only death and destruction. They had attempted to gun him down with bullets, but found that he could simply reflect them with a wave of his hand; an immense hexagonal shield of light would manifest, blocking any lethal blows with an ear-splitting PING! before slicing them in half with that very same shield. He could move without walking, floating down hallways and leaving corpses of both man and machine in his wake. No-one could call for help, as his presence blocked radio-waves. Not even the most advanced of locks could stop his advance as they undid themselves before the Angel of Free Will.

Kaworu’s movement through the facility was not without purpose, without reason. From the very moment he awakened within this unfamiliar place, there was a sort of base instinct, directing him through the labyrinth that he should not have been able to navigate. Taking him deeper and deeper, past cells and prisoners that shrank away at the bloodied sight of Tabris, yet would find freedom from him merely passing by and undoing their locks without so much as a glance. And that was how he found one William J. Blazkowicz, tied to a chair, bloodied and worn but oh so defiant in spirit.

His appearance, to say the least, was inhuman. Uncanny. Pale skin that was befitting of a person with albinism, yet just a touch lighter. Silver-hued hair that was almost as white as snow. And, perhaps most striking, his eyes; an intense ruby red, their color like freshly spilled blood. Like the blood and bits of gore that covered his front. Of which he paid zero mind to whatsoever. As a matter of fact, Nagisa had a small smile upon his face, as though he were meeting an old friend.

“You may call me Nagisa. Kaworu Nagisa,” the Angel responded in English to Blazkowicz’ query as he calmly, casually, made his way across the room. His gait somehow had no hint of hostility to it, and soon enough he was at the older man’s side, undoing the straps that held him to the chair. “You need not be afraid of me; I have no intentions of hostility against you.”

nge: probably the whole iruel episode, its not well liked but its one of my fave episodes

1.0: easily ramiel fight

2.0: clockiel fight and asukas introduction

3.0: wunder liftoff and kaworus scene towards the end :(

Thinking about them damn Evangelions AGAIN… so now the three people that see my posts get to Suffer!

Just watched the End of Eva… again. And I just really Really want to know why Asuka didn’t go for the MP Eva series’ cores during her 3 minute WWE smack down montage??? Like by this point in the series, they’ve killed the majority of the Angels, and with each one (excluding iruel) they all had to Break The Cores. Some I’m just confused about why Asuka ,genius grown in a lab to pilot Asuka Langley Soryu, didn’t go for any of their cores until the very end??? Yes, I know it was to further the narrative… but like… Asuka was an Expert (arguably the best of the 3 in terms of experience and technical skill). On a similar note, why’d the bridge bunnies send her out there to Die??? I’m not talking about why’d they send her into the lake. I’m talking about why’d they send her into the lake with only a power cable and the Eva’s internal reserve batteries??? They’d already nearly hacked The Magi System, so they Knew Seele was coming for their necks, which intern meant the Eva’s necks, which in turn meant that the JSDF would be Well Informed about the Eva’s Electricity Needs. In summary, I’m still salty Asuka had to die like a dog in the streets, even a decade and some change later.

P.s. I bet the JSDF felt real stupid thinking they were stopping an Evil Organization… only to realize they were helping the Evil Organization

BALIPORTALNEWS.COM, SINGARAJA - Pemilihan Rektor Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Pilrek-Undiksha) Periode 2023-2027 berlangsung, Rabu (11/1/2023). Dalam hal ini, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., menjadi Rektor Terpilih dengan perolehan suara penuh dari senat dan kuasa dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemdikbudristek). Pemilihan yang berlangsung di Ruang Ganesha III Rektorat Undiksha ini diikuti oleh tiga calon rektor, yaitu Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, M.Pd., Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., dan Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes. Pemilihan dilakukan secara langsung. Dalam hal ini, Senat yang hadir sebanyak 38 orang dari 39 orang dengan masing-masing memiliki satu hak suara. Sedangkan Mendikbudristek melalui kuasanya, yaitu Plt. Sekretaris Ditjen Diktiristek, Prof. Tjiktjik Srie Tjhajandarie memiliki hak 20 suara. Hasil pemilihan, calon Rektor Prof. Lasmawan meraup suara penuh, yaitu sebanyak 58 suara. Hasil ini mengantarkannya ditetapkan sebagai Rektor Terpilih oleh Senat Undiksha.
