so its like they have the same mannerisms when they talk and move + the same twitchy defensive anger + the same cadence of voice + they enjoy similar hobbies + they are leavers in the dead of night (metaphorical) when they get scared + something something sins of the father. and jess had never ever met his father til he was 18. hm. however
like this is as on the nose as it gets. surly + angry + uncomfortable in kooky social situations + incapable of displaying affection unless its in weird convoluted awkward ways (the chuppah. the diner care package) + trying really hard at loving and being kind without it feeling like skinning themselves alive

Alan Wake (whose face and voice we find on Thomas Zane and Casper Darling, respectively) ends up in an antagonistic relationship with Alex Casey (whose face and voice we find on Sam Lake and Zachariah Trench, respectively).
Casper Darling and Zachariah Trench? By the end, their relationship was antagonistic.
The Casey-Trench voice was once a guide-friend for Wake-Darling.
And then, they were fighting.
One was suspicious of the other, thinking he was lying, hiding something.
While the other was unaware of the darkness that was growing and consuming the former's mind, his ignorance letting it fester. Feeding it, even.
The original faces, Thomas Zane and Sam Lake? In this latest iteration they've spoken with their own voices while in the Dark Place, only in the presence of a camera.
Alan Wake and Zachariah Trench? In the end, while in a nightmare dimension, both get shot by a woman who both of these men meddled in their lives, threatening the well being of their loved one.
At least one had a hand in his fate, willing it, accepting it. The other? He was fully gone, his will overtaken by the nightmare.
A version of Alex Casey did say it after all. He and writer, they were the same.
And finally, the real Sam Lake? By happenstance he offered his face for a collaborative project, and became a symbol. Even if he tried to fight it, tried to replace it, he had to concede. The story demanded it, as if writing it wasn't enough, the narrative claimed his visage.
There's no need to make overt mentions or put the image of the Ouroboros in posters. The serpent is interwoven in the fabric of the narrative itself.

perhaps it’s wishful thinking but,,, you’re really going to look at the zonai and cry “ancient sheikah!” when the twili are //right there// as magic users who were shown to have advanced technology (moving platforms / giant hand sentinels / sol spheres) powered by a blue/green energy that much more closely matches that we’ve seen in TotK than anything the ancient sheikah produced?
Zant’s sleeves (and shoes!) have little snake/dragon heads, as does Midna’s headpiece while her skirt has jagged gear-shapes, all of which look an awful lot like TotK’s ouroboros as well as its deity-esque figure! Both Zant & Midna’s masks are very stylistically similar to not only a lot of the zonai carvings we saw in BotW, but the newly revealed constructs too!! The Palace of Twilight itself was a floating island in the sky!!!
#not to mention the mirror of twilight fragments are integral to a BotW shrinequest#and the constructs' secondary colour is orange like the twili's hair and eyes which ALSO mirror the constructs'#even the architecture we've seen better matches the twili than the sheikah!!!!#look at the TotK emblem with the three eyes and tell me you don't see its similarities to the glowing emblem behind the twili throne#even if it's never confirmed by the narrative itself I //have// to believe it was a deliberate nod by the artists/developers#also..... i just miss the twili they were so good 😭#you've given us p much every other race in botw so please.. i'm begging.. give my babies back#LoZ#totk spoilers#the author speaks

been loosely working on some post murder attempt confrontation lately
Luthen stood before them and appeared unbothered by the presence of Imogen. She hadn’t quite pegged him for a fool at first. Even in the moment she realized his betrayal, she wondered what grander scheme he had in play. Now at the sight of his true arrogance, she was not so sure that Luthen’s intelligence was up to par. It made her feel annoyed at herself for not coming to that conclusion sooner.
Oh well. She would make him sorely regret his egotistical motivations.
In the span of an instant, Imogen ignited her saber and lunged in a full swing. She stopped her attack mere inches from hitting its mark and expected to see something in Luthen crack.
He remained unfazed and held her furious glare. “What will it be?”
“Imogen,” Bix warned. Her hand cautiously reached out like how she might soothe a cornered predator. “Let’s just leave.”
“This coward attempted to have me killed,” Imogen said calmly, the words dripping with malice. “He tried to take me from you.”
The aura of her crimson plasma blade hovered so close to Luthen’s neck that his skin started to singe. He did not flinch – did not so much as blink. “Do you know why?” he asked.
Imogen had every mind to strike him down. To cause a fear that ran within him so deep that it finally shattered his steadfast composure. Or more simply, to get even. “Enlighten me.”
“This rebellion needs heroes,” Luthen explained, his tone methodical. “And do you know what makes a hero? Someone who is willing to sacrifice everything for the cause, not just their decency. You are not a hero, you are a broken tool from a lost time. I used you until you were useless to me and I tried to kill you because I knew you would never let go of your impulsive need for control. The Empire still has roots in you, Imogen. That is something I cannot allow into this alliance.”
Strangely, her first thought drifted to Cal Kestis. The two of them would have become weapons disguised as peacekeepers for the Republic had the Order not fallen. Even after the destruction, they clung to the conditioning of their childhood – albeit in dramatically different ways. And yet, after all this time, they both had developed into something more than just broken tools without purpose. If the Empire still had roots in her, then the Jedi must have as well.
She glanced at Bix, who stared the older man down with an edge that burned as intensely as the saber. Hardly anyone believed Imogen possessed the capacity for change. In fact, no one besides her did. But the way Imogen’s chest seized every time she looked at her mechanic was proof that she could.
Imogen switched her lightsaber off. “What if I were to prove you wrong?”
The hint of a smile flashed across Luthen’s face. “You wouldn’t be the first.”

it's fucked up because supergiant put so so so much love into hades i want to love the game as much as they do but i can't get over how fucked the resolution to the story is
#i also have much pettier grievances#i think the meta progression with the mirror is too integral to progressing in the game#and i think there are way too many ways to mitigate rng and choose your build effectively#so i end up playing the same thing every run#but the elephant in the room is reconciling hades with his family

I have one (1) fear that btsv will reveal Miguel gets his spider powers from his T-shots.
Stabilisers for his spider dna/power was my original thought except I think Miguel took his shot right before throwing the bin at Miles so uh, doesn't seem very stabilising.
And now my personal theory is that, given how they seemed to be "hugging" the cells, maybe Miguel spent too long LARPing as his alt self he became part of that universe. And now that that universe is gone he needed to give himself shots to stop from glitching out. Which, may not make sense since that's what the watch is supposed to do, but I think it'd be a neat parallel to Miles having cells from 42.
ehhhhh i don't think miguel exploding really swings the pendulum in either direction (in terms of what the shot actually does), at least in my conception of a dna stabaliser. your theory is a neat one though! it would be interesting if miguel was dealing with some longlasting sideeffects from dipping dimensions.
personally, i think given the visuals of the scene, the most likely answer is that it is to do with spider powers (very similar visual to miles's spider bite, the blue blood cells, the actual needle mimicking a spider bite in terms of the literal injection etc) but it's a toss up right now as to whether spiderverse's iteration of miguel is going to have him be irreversibly changed (and have that change be one out of his control like in the comics) or have it be a self inflicted transformation. the latter possibility of which im personally ehhh not a fan of. but again, at this moment just a possible direction and not a certainty.
#im hoping its not the latter because i just really like miguel's comic backstory yeah. but also because i think miguel being a self#inflicted spiderman just makes his dimension dipping and miles issues less??? interesting??? like if it's a self inflicted transformation#and miguel doesnt enjoy what he does but does it because has to. why not just stop being spiderman.#it also would make his thing @ miles just. honestly kind of boring hypocrisy instead of what i find the more interesting route#of miguel seeing a mirror of himself in miles (as well as a beacon of doubt) and not being able to handle it#i personally find THAT the more interesting story#but again. its all up in the air right now and we dont KNOW how this character is going to be conceptualised in btsv#there are certain creative liberties which - if taken - id personally find not v interesting but im not going to blast people for something#i have literally no information on. id rather evaluate the entirety of this iteration of miguel once i have the pieces atsv doesn't show#but invites speculation on (the backstory and the nature of his powers)#this isnt intended to be critical of you or anyone else i need to say. i totally understand being upset and nervous about the direction of#character you care deeply about. im just personally going to hold off on speaking about elements which i just dont have the evidence to#evaluate the nature of their integration in and effects upon the totality of miguel as a character within spiderverse#ask games#anon
