DISCRETION HAS BECOME HER OVER THE YEARS. at first, it was the game of slipping through the cracks to avoid templar attention ; since then, the same has continued, except that the templars have traded places with darkspawn hordes. circumspection has all but guaranteed her survival, but there is nothing discreet about the way she marches through the village of haven. people's eyes follow her hurried steps, their looks hang upon the back of her cloak, but bethany ignores them all, her gaze sharply focused on the giant door not too far from her now.
ONCE CLOSE ENOUGH, HER MOVEMENTS COME TO A HALT, left hand coming to lay upon the hard material for the briefest of seconds before she pushes. despite its heaviness, the door of the haven's chantry opens quickly enough. she slips through and immediately, desperation evident in her eyes, starts scanning the crowd. he has to be here. he must be———
❝ brother. ❞ the word escapes from her lips without a thought when bethany spots her twin ( how long has it been since the last time they saw each other ? ). increasing hastiness, once more, marks her steps as she moves toward him ; stopping does not occur until she is near enough to wrap her arms around him. ❝ thank the maker you're alive. ❞ her eyes flutter close in pure relief, her arms wrapping around him even tighter. ❝ i was so worried something might have happened to you ! ❞
a starter for @sunchascd ( carver ) !

WIP Wednesday
thanks for the tag @eridanidreams! I tag anyone who has something they would like to share.
My WIP sample today is from the Sam x Lila oneshot I shared a snip of a little while back. I've settled on calling it Unique Cargo and will finish it soonish...need to get to a comfortable point with the Ranger!Del fic and take a day to put finishing touches on the oneshot...anyway the WIP:
--
“Have you really boxed a terrormorph?” Ruby asked from her nest of pillows and blankets in a big chair in the living room. She was barely visible from her nest, her little voice slightly muffled by the pillow she rested her chin on.
Goose snorted a laugh from his chair, nearly choking on the popcorn he was eating. Lila giggled into Sam’s chest, her body bouncing with her laughter while curled up next to Sam. His arm bounced with her body, jostling him slightly as he stared at the large monitor on the wall.
His team was losing this series and he’d lost interest with the game so he didn’t bother pausing before answering the little one’s question, “I have. Several actually, but not all at once.”
Ruby’s little head popped up, her hazel eyes wide, “why?”
“Because he’s a touch crazy,” Goose joked.
Sam flashed Goose a ‘knock it off’ glance and looked to Ruby, “guns jam, knives break, but my fists haven’t failed me yet.”
“And he’s a touch crazy,” Lila added, a playful pinch catching him in the side making him jump, “but I think that’s true for most of the family. It’s what brought us together.”
Ruby smiled bright and then settled back into her nest, “have you ever wrestled an ashta?”
“I might’ve.”
“What about a siren?” Ruby asked.
“One or two,” he admitted.
“Have you ever punched a dropsalm? Ruby asked.
“Yup,” he sipped his beer, wondering how long this line of questions might go.
“What about a crocodaunt?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Tuskfrogs?”
“Yup.”
“What about a beetle grazer?”
“Never met a beetle grazer who caused me grief,” Sam smiled, realizing she was checking to see if he was listening.
Ruby peeked over her blankets again, “have you really punched all the others?”
“I have.” He admitted.
“Why were you on Jemison? It’s toxic or something there now.” Ruby asked.
“Loooong story,” He stretched.
“Do you punch everything?” Ruby asked.
“Nope.”
“Sometimes he kicks,” Lila teased.
Ruby giggled and disappeared into her nest.
(bonus second excerpt)
Lila’s laid her head on Sam’s chest and hugged him tight as he tapped his lamp to switch it off. It had been a long day getting Ruby settled into her new room and would take time for the little girl to relax at the ranch. Sam knew they should have stayed in Kryx a while longer or returned to Maheo where there were budding settlements. A place for her to be around people and get more in person care from her therapist. But she just wanted to hide so they retreated to the ranch. In a few weeks they’d head back to the Key for the Bitter Angel and a recheck with Samina and they could see to that then.
“We aren’t really going to be taking her raiding with us, are we?” Lila asked him, her voice a whisper.
“Bitter Angel is a safer ship than whatever either of us were carting Cora around in,” Sam said as he ran fingers up and down her back, “and it’s not like we’re going to raiding non-stop.”
“I suppose,” Lila kissed his chest.
“Everything okay?” he asked.
She pushed herself up and leaned close to his face, kissing him softly before speaking, “we’re in uncharted territory again.”
“We’ll be okay,” he said, even as his own worries continued to gnaw at him.
“We will,” she agreed, “it’s exciting.”
“It is,” he smiled.
She cuddled in close, her arm draped over his chest. He closed his eyes and tried to relax as his mind buzzed with all the things they needed to do. There were lessons to find, furniture to build, xeno to hunt, greenhouses to harvest. And little Ruby would be right there with all her curious questions. His smile lingered as sleep started to claim him, the realization that he was looking forward to the curious inquisitor tomorrow.

Tell us about kallathe!
Oh ho ho, what do you wish to know?
Kallathe came about because I wanted a full dark-side playthrough, and inquisitor seemed like it would be the easiest to achieve, and I was RIGHT. Dark Inquisitor is such a fucking hoot, it's one of my favourite storylines in the entire game, and Xanthe just hams it up so delightfully, to the point that I've struggled to play light side inq in comparison
I picked Sith Pureblood because I was trying to fill out my stickerbook to unlock all the races, as one did in the ye olde days of swtor, and it wasn't until afterwards that I ran into the supposed lore breaking fact that it was near impossible for a Pureblood to be a slave given their standing in the Empire. That lead me down a delightful rabbit hole of brainstorming how to justify her existence, which was how I came up with the backstory of her high-ranking father trying to cover up the existence of his mistress to appease the family of his equally high-ranking wife
Then I was OBSESSED with the Dread Masters when their expac came out, and just wanted to bury myself in all the weird and whacky lore related to them (and SO MUCH of it doesn't make any sense, and that just made me more obsessed because of course I wanted to fix it) and I had to ask, what sort of person would say yes to their offer to join their hive mind? What sort of person would want that power enough to sacrifice their sense of self, or would be arrogant enough to assume they WOULDN'T lose their sense of self
When KOTFE came out, I ran through immediately with Kallathe first because I needed to kiss Lana (AND ROYALLY FUCKED THAT UP LMFAO I WAS BROKEN FOR WEEKS) and it just all sort of... clicked. Like, oh, of course the Outlander was always supposed to be Kallathe. This is what she was made for. She's everything the Sith (race) are, instilled in one person, and Valkorion has rejected everything Sith about himself, moving further and further away from that heritage in his hunger for power. They're two sides of the same coin. They're not soul mates, they're soul nemeses. She is made stronger by everything he has rejected in himself.
She's my strongest Force user by far. The only one who comes even close would be Asmi (Consular), and Tahrin (Warrior) only gets to within reach because of her obsessive lifetime of rigid training
I love Kallathe so much. I love the Inquisitor so much. It's such a batshit storyline but it WORKS

I have never actually posted anything, but I am really quite proud of this(well aware nobody cares) so I’m just gonna post it. It’s like a little family portrait of my Trevelyan inquisitor and his mother and siblings and Cullen, I guess kinda like a marital portrait since I went down the Cullen route. I really like the idea that the fashion in the Free Marches is very slavic so I went with that theme. I also really like that idea, since I named my inq Ivan 🤪.
I am well aware that Trevelyan is supposed to be the youngest in the family and that there’s the father, but I like to think that for my inq that he’s like 20 years older than his younger sister and she was like a surprise baby or whatever and I didn’t want to draw another person so let’s pretend daddy Trevelyan is dead or on vacation or something. This is also like post Trespasser if the lack of arm isn’t telling enough.
I know this is like hardly Dragon Age fanart considering the only canon character I’ve drawn is Cullen, but whatever this is for me. I am just really proud of kind of figuring out how to do lighting, so if any fellow artists actually see this any tips and tricks are very much welcomed.

This week on Travelers with the Sauce...
Inq had a rather awkward conversation with her father about Ena (fyi Inq is infertile, so her family was quite confused as to how she now has a biological child).
Meanwhile Ena took apart Inq's laser weapon. Once she realized her child wants to one up her rival with a cooler modified gun, she immediately joined in on the plan.
Orroe tried to be the voice of reason, sadly he was ignored.
But right after, an earthquake struck the mansion. Which after learning from the staff that it's not normal for the area, she went "ok we can start panicking now" and hid under the desk with Ena.
After the quake ended, Dreth was shaken up enough to accept a sip of an unknown flask of booze from a security lady.

Also
Some non canon memeing (spicy™)
