Reading a fic and so far the Jewish character consistently references hell and used to sort of be in a satanic cult and worries about not eating meat and dairy in a dish together but doesn't think anything about a dairy appetizer with a meat dish

Hell and the devil don't exist in Judaism, really, and not mixing dairy and meat means for the whole meal. There are even specific waiting times between a meat meal and dairy meal vs between a dairy meal and a meat meal so they don't mix in your stomach either iirc

Not holding out hope for the character celebrating any holiday except Hanukkah 😔

I spent literally like six hours (I think?) figuring out how to code footnotes that link back to your place in the story, right? (because even the AO3 tutorial didn't actually work)

And now I just spent like an hour and a half figuring out how to make a work skin that'll make italics fucking behave and not randomly change into a fucking tiny serif font for some godforsaken reason. Just to better differentiate text messages from normal dialogue.

y'know. this is the second time now with this modern au where I've had something a little more elaborate/more talking planned and they've gone "nah. sweet and simple"

Bimbam has a good 4.5 min video that covers almost all of it and I'm already going to link it in the beginning A/N but I'm seriously tempted to just skip footnotes for things that the video covers
