ok so i've definitely got a huge ass backlog in my inbox that i feel awful about and i have for literally two years, but i've absolutely been struggling with feeling like my writing was something that people enjoyed and loved, and it's only been very recently that i've allowed myself to enjoy my own writing again?

so, i'm gonna be going through the backlog and answering asks/filling requests from as far back as 2021, so i'm very sorry it's been so long, but i promise your asks/requests were not forgotten, and i will be spending time going through them and working on them now and in the coming weeks! i can't promise i'll get to everything right away, or that something won't happen and i'll lose my drive again, but i will do my best, and i hope y'all can forgive me for the radio silence on asks for so long!!!!

I realise that you sent this back in August, so presumably you’re done with reading Faust by now (hope it went well), but here are some general tips for reading older, allusion-rich classics without going crazy:

Get an annotated edition. This has been a true lifesaver for me, with everything from the Greek classics via Shakespeare to Goethe and Dostoevsky. And even with more modern classics that are perfectly accessible without annotations, having an annotated version can help you appreciate extra layers of symbolism, wordplay and allusions (The Annotated Lolita being a good example here)

Find a character to blorbify if possible. It doesn’t have to be the protagonist

Read up on the historical and ideological context in which the work was written

Find delicious sentences and underline/highlight them

Make your own silly annotations in the margins

Specifically for Goethe’s Faust: Skim the most incomprehensible bits of Part 2

inbox/draft cleanout day canceled, i took a nap and woke up to 3,000 words of my fic being completely deleted. will be spending the rest of the day curled up and crying.

possibly doing an inbox cleanout to start fresh. may drop some old threads too, save for a few select ones.

might even go through my muse list and see who i wanna keep and who i may potentially toss. let me know if there is a muse you're itching to interact with, and i'll see how much muse i have.

Hello all! Wanted to make a quick post about inbox time and answering asks going forward. Since I no longer get as many asks, I think I'll be able to answer them as they come rather than doing a traditional inbox cleanout. Of course, if I do an ask game or something to that effect I will plan and tag accordingly so as not to spam anyone.         it would hate to confess this, for anyone to know the softness law inspires within it. how it sits, wanting and patient, between his thighs, lavender gaze enamored as he reads. any other day, it might be draped over his shoulders or curled into his lap - but now it is on its knees, chin digging into the patch of flesh just above law’s knee. watching. studying him while he studies the delicate intricacies of the flesh. it is not certain if it is boredom or affection for the smallest twitch of muscle in his face that overtakes it, moves its body into a newfound responsiveness. it begins with a sensation law is quite familiar with - its nuzzling head, leaving the imprint of floral - herbal scented hair against his thigh, the softest noise of dissatisfaction slipping past its closed mouth.

        it glances up at him through pale lashes - knows better than to interrupt him, uncertain of what it even wanted out of its incessant movement and affection. it considers, for a moment, it could even be pleased merely continuing on without him looking at it once - what an odd thought. not like it at all. logic does not stop it though, as it starts to toy with the idea, wonders if he truly is too engrossed to notice it or if he’s playing into whatever it is doing. gaze returns downwards, nuzzling stops - head of wispy pale replaced now with its lips, pink and glossy and pressing into his inner thigh. it’s oddly peaceful.

how do you guys typically post things? do you tag a bunch of posts, put them into drafts and then mass post them, or use a queue?

typically one of us can log on in the morning and clear the inbox and one of us logs on in the evening and does the same, but our morning mod is having some real life trouble right now so our schedule is off

mod fetus is somehow awake and asleep all the time so she mostly does old post cleanout until the term is over

as i, non shamefully because this is my house, do my inbox ask cleanout there were a lot that were just numbers from ask games now lost forever to time that I have deleted but if you've ever sent me an ask I am kissing you on the forehead I love receiving questions i love thinking about things
