still on about 2-4 miles! putting this under a cut because it is quite long and uninteresting. i promise i have thoughts on this case that arent just Mad i will try to word those better to share soon
i DO feel like i am being childish because i’m very very upset about that one thing that happens at the beginning of the trial but i hope it’s not that...i fell like. i’ve talked before about how aa flinches away from implying anything that miles actually Did during his time as vk’s protege and how i think that’s kind of cheap (if you are going to say phoenix became a lawyer for these reasons then COMMIT!!!) and even though i like miles very much (shocking to hear im sure) its very clear that these games ALSO like him and so don’t want him to be wretched. that shows up in most of his other appearances in these games! it feels obvious
so! of course, having said that! 2-4! WHY DID HE SAY THAT! i have wracked my brain trying to come to terms with this! i’ve finally played the part where the game attempts to justify this and well whether it’s because i’m biased or because it’s genuinely not good, i am not pleased about it. the leap this game takes just doesnt make sense, whether you interpret the jumping point as 1-4 (as originally intended) or 1-5. it is hard enough to take this scenario as it’s written, because before asking “how would these characters behave in this situation”, you have to CREATE the situation, and the situation created here is: bad! and i tend to dig my heels in and go “i’m not going to acknowledge that this happened because it’s shocking for shocking’s sake and i hate it”, but this method doesn’t really work as you’re playing the situation obviously
the most direct address of the response to adrian’s refusal to talk about herself in court (which, by the way, every character who talks about it is also mystified that miles said That Thing He Said. just want to note that) goes something like “That wasn’t like you at all. You could have made her testify as many times as you wanted, but to go that far...” To which miles says “But she wouldn’t testify about That until I said something. The courtroom is a garden of judgement. I am putting myself on the line when I stand in there. And that’s why I made the witness do the same...it’s only natural.”
which. HOOTS. this is quite an explanation and at the same time that it’s incredibly INCREDIBLY rife with implications i don’t buy it as an excuse for the game doing that fhksdj
i don’t think this is the worst explanation and in fact i think there are ways in which it could work. in the previous game, miles floated the idea that he followed in manfred’s footsteps to punish himself. following that line of reasoning, this is SURE something. as we know already, he and adrian have this common ground of Choosing Death. when he returned, he almost immediately got told that he should have stayed dead by maybe the two most important people in his life. because of 1-5, we’ve also already seen how the judgement he faces has affected him (and my god i have some thoughts on that but i don’t want to get into it here). putting the pieces together, him dredging up adrian’s past in detail is a lot of things. it is a way to drag her down with him, it is a way to deflect judgement onto her, it is a way to punish them both for being Weak(TM)(TM)(TM). when he talks about his Departure later, even though it’s the most honest he has been about it yet, he still refers to it as “leaving the prosecutor’s office”. when talking to adrian, though, he refers to her ideation as “choosing death”, which like. is the same wording he actually used when he left. that makes it feel like...he won’t acknowledge it himself, but when faced with adrian, he sees something that means they’re both on the line. it’s got some Implications! justice for all has been a pretty decent game for characters not saying what they mean. i think that theoretically this works.
HOWEVER and i’m sure you guessed there was going to be a However, i don’t think this makes sense for miles after the first game! not after 1-5, CERTAINLY, and not even really after 1-4. frankly, this game starting after 1-4 originally is borderline nonsensical. some really, REALLY good character shit comes up as a result of miles’s storyline in this game, but it’s also so transparently here for drama. it’s very very frustrating! i think the discussion between phoenix and miles during phoenix’s crisis of faith in this case is rich, but i also think in the context of this series as a whole, it is kind of soup! investigations comes later and clarifies that years later, miles is still struggling with what he wants to do (which kind of rules and also i think points to how restless his role as a character is). actually, looking at j4a miles after playing investigations is sooooo much. investigations says he has this desire to find the truth that has persisted even under manfred’s teaching, even though he gets punished for it, and turns his face turn in 1-3 into this thing that has been gnawing at him his whole life coming back into the light (even as he tries to bury it). there’s not really anything in j4a miles that is represented that isn’t done better in another game. this place where he is  quietly leading phoenix to draw his own conclusions about what he wants to do is interesting, but it also doesn’t feel like miles.
there is SOMETHING here that isn’t really in any other miles iteration, though, and this IS relevant to me, and it is the thing that has been like. hammering on me the entire time i play this case. which is the adrian stuff. him doing this to put adrian on the line as well as a statement of punishment towards the both of them doesn’t make sense to me. not everyone has to immediately grow and learn from their mistakes once identifying them, but to have miles disappear and figure out for himself what his role means only to come back and immediately use it to punish himself by proxy again doesn’t feel like it rings true. and, of course, for him to use this to punish adrian...is cruel. it’s abjectly cruel. it is a cruelty he doesn’t display in any other case, really. not as a rookie, not with sebastian, not in any form that we ever see. everyone who knows him and HAS known him in his previous forms is still upset and stunned by this, and, being in the future where other games have come out to expand on this character, its like. this stands out! this stands far out! this stands out like lorikeet stands out among pigeons!
i hope this isn’t me just...being mad that a character i like is bad, i think i’ve made it clear that i wish the game would push him on his worse traits more and that i think wanting every character you like to be always right and good is boring so if this is just that same urge manifesting i’ll be very embarrassed. but i just don’t think this needed to happen like this! i don’t! with everything else, with EVERYTHING that the game says about adrian and celeste, “my mentor was a strong woman she wouldn’t do this over anything”, “she’s a person who depends on other people”, adrian hating herself for her perceived weakness, most of the other women that appear in this series as bit parts, this feels like just another manifestation of that misogyny along with the pointless Shock that has accompanied miles’s entire role in this game.
i think that you COULD suggest that this makes sense. it could. if you ignore that this was written by someone, and you accept the explanation offered along with the other character work done in this game for miles, it’s not NOTHING. miles is kind of a hypocrite. he’s cryptic and indirect when talking to phoenix. it is possible that he regresses after returning and being greeted pretty coldly. not all development is linear. it is also an artifact of the games being made that his portrayal in 1-5 came about long after this game was written. but overall i just feel like. i really.......i really think this case is just Bad. the game’s overarching themes and character arcs are something, the themes introduced in this case are Something (adrian has what fandom klavier wishes he had essentially), but it all feels like its just a cudgel to excuse the deluge of abuse and exploitation heaped on celeste and adrian and it sucksssssssssss
tldr (attempt) i dont think this miles interpretation is without foundation. but it feels cruel in ways the game has never committed to showing anywhere else BUT in portraying the women in this case, and if they’re trying to actually go “see? demon prosecutor” it is FAR too far along to be doing that and it never shows up anywhere else so i’m not buying it. don’t write a game in one month next time

Autistic Ramblings. Literally that’s IT
for a while i’ve had the autistic urge to explain to someone all my different “good luck” charms and the pocket tiger post made me realize i can just make a whole list explaining them here. so if you do happen to read this please like it but i also know it’s a personal thing that most people wouldn’t care about (and now has become rather long!) especially if you don’t know me. ANYWAYS. here we go. in no real particular order-!
-the coin i got at the Chattanooga aquarium last year when i visited for my birthday! it has paddlefish on it :) my best friend went with us that day and i have fond memories associated with it
-my prosecutors badge! obviously means a lot because it’s connected to my fav of all time but it was also a gift from my best friend in the first year i knew him and stays pinned to my hat, which i wear most of the time
-similarly my defense attorney badge! i got it years ago and it’s really good quality. has a good weight to it for a pin so i can’t pin it to my hat. i usually keep it in my pocket/wallet funnily enough (in aa usually phoenix/defense attorneys display their badges while edgeworth/prosecutors keep them in their pocket) but sometimes i pin it to my shirt if im wearing a button down
-ok last ace attorney thing lol. i have a really cool charm that has phoenix on one side and miles on the other. it’s one of the very few fandom etsy type things i’ve bought. it stays in my wallet most of the time
-my special rock!!! theres a stream/river that my mom and i love to visit and there was an area where the water made a little creek from the road down to the larger area and i could have watched it forever. i happened to spot a very very flat rock shaped like and arrowhead and with edges that almost let you see the layers. i felt a little bad about it but figured since it wouldn’t dislodge anything it’d be okay to take. it has a different recharging system than the others but i haven’t even gotten to that yet.
-my transformers figures! so pretty much all of them are cheap toys i bought while working fast food as rewards to myself after tough weeks but i’m glad to have them. i rotate them based on how i’m feeling that day. optimus is for long or tiring days when i think i’ll need strength to get through a shift. ratchet is for when i’m already exhausted before going into work or not feeling well in the morning. starscream and soundwave i usually just have as general support but i have a particular soundwave figure a friend gave me that i take when i want to remember them and their support.
-transformers...2! just a funny note. i put those guys in my lunch box when i go to work but usually make sure they go in my locker and not the fridge. especially if i took starscream that day. i get the feeling my day would end up having some kind of negative note if i left him in there. same with ratchet but that’s more because i can imagine him complaining and he doesn’t deserve it really
-my dragon spinner ring! one of my oldest charms that i still have. technically i’ve lost it again (there was a time i couldn’t find it for years after we moved) but i’m pretty sure its in my room somewhere. i got it several several years ago at the renaissance festival. i think it’s the only thing my dad’s gotten me that i consider really special. obviously i love spinning it and it really does look cool.
okay! those are all my current “good luck” items that i use fairly regularly. i probably have others tucked away. pretty much any small trinket i’m gifted from someone who means a lot to me becomes one of these items
i also have a recharging system for them that i consider fairly important! mainly it just means that after a few consecutive days of ‘using’ a particular charm it has to ‘recharge’ or it won’t help me as much if at all. listen. i KNOW they don’t actually do anything. but it’s the thought that counts and this system helps me feel better. so i make sure to let my charms rest out of respect for what they do for me and so they can continue to help me.
basically this just means that they go into my bedside drawer for a few days usually. while my rock can recharge like this it won’t be fully up to strength till i dunk it in a body of water again. any water helps but it’s especially charged after i let it soak in the stream i got it from for a minute. i can only do this maybe once a month though.
also shout out to my original charm that “recharged”! it was a pendant, also from the renaissance festival i believe, that was kinda rectangular with curved edges and made out of glass. it was deep blue/purple, had a sorta square pattern going on inside, and was slightly smaller than my thumb. anyways it recharged via the sun and i used it freshman year of hs to get through PE. i named it corn after a stone from a certain manga i use to be obsessed with in middle school/part of hs. the character in the manga used her blue stone similarly, that is for emotional support, and also use to hold it up to the sun. i probably still have it somewhere but it’s i don’t use it or wear it anymore
ok! that’s all i can think of at the moment but i really enjoyed typing this all out. if you happened to read all of this....why...but also thank you. i love knowing that someone else knows these things now. i cant just tell when i try to explain these things irl people tune me out rip;;; though i understand why

maya has a gengar <3 it’s what she had in leaves from the vine and honestly that’s the pokemon x ace attorney crossover bible declaring it now
miles has a lycanroc!! specifically a midday form one, and there’s a bit of backstory to her, lol. she was originally greg’s rockruff, and manfred was a tad pissed about his protege having such a sentimental partner so he tried to force miles to get another pokemon, but miles refused, and it’s this whole thing, like he’s such a great prosecutor, why doesn’t he battle during his trials??? y’know. later on he does though. also i think miles having a pokemon that’s a rock type who probably knows moves like rock tomb and shit would be hilarious. because. because earthquakes. because earthquakes GET IT-?
franziska has an aurorus. it’s pretty and she deserves it <3 i also think having an extinct pokemon is on brand for her.
godot has an armaldo. no thoughts head empty for this one it just sounds like armando and is what he had in leaves from the vine.
apollo has a flareon. once again no thoughts head empty it’s vaguely catlike and red boom apollo
klavier and kristoph, as discussed, both have the same hydreigon, just getting passed to klavier when kristoph went to prison. also because…. because hydreigon….. hyDREIgon…. the dragons…. theyr efuckign GERMAN
trucy has a wigglytuff. i’m not happy with this one honestly but idk what else, if you have ideas lmk
ema has a porygon this is self explanatory she deserves it fuck you
athena has an emolga!! i was definitely feeling a pikachu clone for her, and also emolga kinda sounds like the first part of emotion dont look into it too hard
simon has a corviknight, and i’ll tell you why!!! 1. bird, 2. i think he deserves a pokemon you could ride on, and 3. it’s from galar… like the region based on the uk…. and simon he’s…. he’s british….. GET IT-
nahyuta has an esprit because LOOK ME IN THE EYES AND TELL ME THEY DONT LOOK IDENTICAL??? also i’m pulling a gamefreak and showing the villain really isn’t so bad after all by giving said villain a pokemon that only evolves through high friendship
sebastian has ducklett. i saw fluff say this once and thought it was cool so i stole it
kay has a zorua. i think this one is also self explanatory.
oh my god how did i forget to write gumshoe??? anyway he has an growleth/arcanine because that’s what officer jenny(?) has in the indigo league anime <3
gregory, as mentioned, had a rockruff
ray has a honchkrow >:) hat buddies

hey !! sorry to bother you but i noticed that you like aa. im new to the series (currently playing the first game), i would like to know, which games are the best in your opinion and which are the worst? ty :)
HI OMG!! I'm flattered you asked me....
I think all the mainline games are worth playing, first of. Ace Attorney has a continuous storyline, so missing a game could cause confusion later down the line. That said, if you're asking bc you want to play some games and with others just watch a let's play/read them, then in my personal opinion,
my favorite game in the series is aa4, or Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice. The music, the characters, and the story line is all so magnificently done in my opinion, and it was sincerely such a fun game to play.
As for my least favorite, I would have to say Spirit of Justice, or aa6. I don't think any ace attorney game is bad per se or not worth playing, but aa6, in the scheme of the overall story line, made little sense. The music was great, but the new characters were overall not very interesting. Nahyuta, the game's new prosecutor, is the weakest in the series, and the final chapter is, on average, over 13 HOURS. Meanwhile, chapter 4 is my LEAST favorite case in the ENTIRITY of ace attorney.
I'd say from fave to least fave, it'd go: aa4, aa1, aa3, aa5, aa2, aa6. The only ones I harbor any dislike for are aa2 and aa6 -- aa2 has a fantastic story, but I really, really don't like the music, and the cases aren't super riveting.
aa3 and aa5 are really, really good. I think aa3 has some of my favorite music in the series overall, and it has some amazing characters. The only downside is the main prosecutor, Godot, isn't really interesting to me, but he's one of those "love him or hate him" characters. As for aa5, it has some flaws, and Apollo imo is a little ooc, but I LOVE the story and the new characters Athena and Blackquill are some of my favorite. The music isn't bad, but it is a little generic and isn't super memorable to me besides a few tunes.
If you want to factor in The Great Ace Attorney chronicles, the newest games (because while technically part of the mainline, they are considered somewhat of a spinoff because of not playing into the main storyline) are REALLY GOOD. Great music and fantastic characters. If I factored that in to my ranking:
aa4, aa1, tgaa1, aa3, aa5, tgaa2, aa2, aa6.
The reason The Great Ace Attorney 2 is much lower than its first game is for a lot of story-based reasons. It resolves with some unanswered questions, and the ""twist"" of who the big baddie is was such a huge let down as, well, it was less of a twist and more like a "no duh". The final case was decent, but left a lot to be desired in terms of the relationship between Ryuunosuke and the prosecutor of that case; I feel like a lot was left unresolved and the ending felt rushed. Plus, they reused the same music from TGAA1, which gets REALLY grating when you play them both in a row.
And finally, as for the ACTUALLY spinoffs, Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations (otherwise known as AAI) 1 & 2...my list would look like:
aa4, aa1, tgaa1, aa3, aai2, aa5, tgaa2, aai1, aa2, aa6.
The only issue is AA12 was NEVER released in English. Thankfully a fan translation and patch exists, and so you can play the rom as if it were actually a real English port. AAI suffers from running around in circles a lot and some mind-numbingly stupid moments similar to Danganronpa (where you have to confirm the same thing over and over 5 million times) but they're good games. I think the second game is superior in its story and characters, especially Sebatian Debeste. AA1 is okay. It has AMAZING music, but the story is just mediocre and it really only lives for the novelty of being able to play as Edgeworth.
And THAT'S THAT ON THAT, BABY!!! I hope you enjoy the series as much as I do!! The only game I haven't included on this list is Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton, as that is a crossover spinoff and the only game I have yet to play (but I plan to once I find somewhere I can buy it!)

franziska von karma
How I feel about this character: MY WIFE I LOVE HER SOOOO MUCH shes my 2nd favorite aa character (behind edgeworth im sorry feminism) shes the exact kind of character i love and she has so much depth behind her and shes just UGHHHH SHES SO GOOD
All the people I ship romantically with this character: only maya really... i actually do not like ship anyone too hard with franziska but maya is definitely the best option bc of their very similar traumas and the way they parallel each other its very interesting
My non-romantic OTP for this character: DEFINITELY EDGEWORTH I LOVE FUNNYSIBLINGS SOOOOOO BAD THEYRE MY FAVORITE anytime i think about the vk siblings for too long i break down its inexplainable
My unpopular opinion about this character: i think people look too surface level on her character and only talk about her being haha funny whip lady. shes a lot more than that and people just mischaracterize her a lot and make her way too rude with no underlying motives or reasonings behind it
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: more development in general. she got snuffed in aa2 like every prosecutor has the games final arc be about them but franziska.. .not really and the whole shelly de killer card thing was never expanded on. i wish she got more visible development so people wouldnt say shit like she hasnt changed at all

Question: What do you like about Nahyuta Sadhmadhi?
ohhh good question!! i am so very sorry, i started actually writing about nahyuta but then i got sidetracked talking about capcom’s prosecutors and Oh God there’s so much and im really tired so it’s incoherent Anon I’m So Sorry
here’s the short answer: it’s interesting actually because i think what i like most about nahyuta is his potential! i also really love his character design like holy gods, in my view nahyuta is the most objectively attractive aa character by a long shot (objectively as in, not accounting for my personal taste). and also his voice, because i love matthew mercer too much.
here’s the less short answer:
in my personal opinion, nahyuta suffers terribly from capcom’s Prosecutor Syndrome which is a name that i just made up right now, which is basically when the prosecutor of the game is pretty much just the Big Bad Antagonist for the whole game UNTIL about halfway through the last case, at which point they become A Human Being Worth Sympathising With? and i mean this in the kindest possible way because i do in fact love all the prosecutors in ace attorney, but the way the game works does make it difficult to not feel anything except for Intense Rage for the prosecutor throughout the game. like, they are trying to get your clients sentenced, after all? and they’re all Really Obnoxious because that’s kinda just how AA works like, u have a very arrogant prosecutor who is a prodigy of some sort (i’m calling it the next rival prosecutor is gonna like, have literally been born with a law textbook in their mouth) and then phoenix’s Intense Bluffing knocks them down a few pegs and you get to watch them breakdown when you make a good point and it’s satisfying as hell ANYWAY I’M GETTING SIDETRACKED the rest is under the cut
basically i found it really difficult to like nahyuta throughout the game because he’s been probably one of the worst sufferers of Prosecutor Syndrome i’ve ever seen, because his backstory was so utterly shrouded in mystery and the mystery wasn’t like, really clearly alluded to because there was so much else going on. unlike miles, where the mystery was that he and phoenix clearly had history and you were sort of unwinding it little by little each case until it came to a head in Goodbyes, and Samurai had like, a really good buildup to that too (and then miles went on to feature in like every game + his own games so I Think He’s Recovered From Prosecutor Syndrome)
and franziska, where the mystery was exactly what her motivation was in relation to manfred and miles, and that ONE (pre?)credits scene with her crying would usually qualify her for this too because it was so sudden and short, but it was so well written that i think franziska has recovered too (AND ALSO SHE APPEARS AGAIN SO WE GOOD but Also Also can we have more fran)
godot is… people have mixed feelings about godot, i personally love him but i think that even though godot was a mystery just like nahyuta, godot was ultimately always written to be as enigmatic a characcter as he possibly could? like if nahyuta’s past had never been revealed then he would have just been some sparkly pretentious douche, but if godot’s past had never been revealed, then he would have been a MYSTERIOUS coffee douche (yeah he’s a douche i love him but i’ll concede this much) so he suffers less from Prosecutor Syndrome because there’s always an air of mystery around him and that was like, a core point of his character - that nobody knew anything about him.
klavier could have me talking for ages because he actually doesn’t really suffer from PS at all but that doesn’t. that doesn’t work in his favour. klavier was written as a genuinely likeable character, he was the prosecutor and the antagonist GAMEPLAY WISE but story-wise he’s never painted as someone that you’re supposed to be fighting? so he got an actual personality, which is more than can be said for a lot of prosecutors in the game, but then the Gavins are like the most hilariously undeveloped main characters in the series. so capcom kind of reversed the PS pattern here. he has a personality but no depth or history. i’m still bitter.
simon is probably one of the best written prosecutors in my opinion, because he was infuriating as a prosecutor ought to be but he was also a genuinely likeable and intriguing character in his own right. DD was my first game, so i had no idea that prosecutors are usually tied into the overarching plot of the game and my view of him is skewed in that way, but for me the way simon was written into the story was genuinely awesome and flowed really well and didn’t feel sudden or forced? so simon got immunity to PS, he’s a genuinely really well-rounded character with a good personality and a great story, and then he appeared again in aa6 albeit briefly so i’d love to see more Panda Big Bro but i think simon’s treatment has been quite good.
and then we get to nahyuta. and i think all the progress capcom made with simon was undone faster than nahyuta’s beaded necklace, poor dear. what i’m hoping for is that nahyuta will get a larger role in aa7, and the way things are going i think they’ll have to give him one? story-wise it makes sense? but basically i REALLY struggled to like nahyuta throughout the game because he just seemed…kind of dull, honestly. his motivation seemed so unclear, but not in the enigmatic way that godot was. he was uppity and superior, but not in the sarcastically entertaining way that miles and simon had. and he reused one word all the time like fran, but “putrid” is just a very terrible word and doesn’t even have the other word class variations and HONESTLY I JUST GOT REAL TIRED OF IT like yuty had his high points for sure, i really enjoyed “what’s crack a lackin” and all that, but i just. couldn’t like him?
and even in the last case - it took so long for his character to actually come through that by the end of it i felt like i hadn’t had any time to appreciate who he really was. now, i’m happy to forgive capcom for this as long as he appears again in aa7 because it actually makes sense for story reasons that nahyuta would be kind of blank throughout the game (although even so i feel like there were ways to make him more interesting), but yeah, that’s kind of my issue with nahyuta. i DO really like his relationship with apollo, rayfa, and dhurke; i really like what we DID get to see of his character - the selflessness, his competence, his willingness and ability to give up everything and anything that he values about himself for the sake of the ones he cares about, and the impenetrability of his mask - that all makes for a fascinating, compelling, strong character that i’m deeply excited to learn more about. that’s what i mean when i say i like his potential. i dont think we got to know enough of nahyuta sahdmadhi, so it’s my dear hope that we’ll get to see much more of him in later games. i’m super ready to love him.

warning, the following has mainly snarky (and possibly furious) opinions on Spirit of Justice. Reader discretion is advised.
Trucy, you don’t need to take sides. There’s one side. The truth. And both Apollo and Phoenix are on that side.
They’re not at the same bench but they’re on the same team. It’s gonna be ok.
-
“I’m sorry too, little lady! this is all my fault..”
Oh so trucy gets an apology, but not Apollo? cool cool whatever
-
Trucy, if Phoenix and Apollo become bitter enemies over a property dispute then they weren’t really all that close to begin with.
-
Dhurke: invalides trucy’s feelings while simultaneously spouting more of his Manly Man shit
-
“one minute we’re trading blows, and the next, we’re having drinks together”
well if that’s his mentality i can see why he thinks its ok do be an utter fuckwad to everyone
-
“We’re simple creatures at heart! Hah-hahahaha!”
yes... men are so simple at heart... they’re just a bunch of neanderthals... thanks Dhurke, truly you are the way to the future.
-
To be honest, I am glad that this is a civil case. When I first saw the publicity I was sure they’d made Phoenix a prosecutor for no reason and I was furious.
I’m not super glad at the way things turned out but at least the bullshit counter didn’t go into the red and explode.
Phew. I’m actually sighing in relief here. Maybe I can pretend what follows is all a friendly game or something.
-
Aww; poor Judgey’s confused :(
-
...they seriously don’t need to have a falling out to be on the opposite side of a courtroom. Lawyers face each other all the time.
They don’t have to hate each other, they just have to keep things professional, otherwise they’d cause a conflict of interest. Like... it’s not ideal but tbh it’s more a danger to their clients than each other.
-
Y’know, I’m gonna dare to be optimistic here; as much as I hate this storyline and most people in it, this is actually an interesting and character-developing scenario.
Apollo has to face off against his mentor, the guy who... well I’d say Kristoph taught him all his tricks, but Phoenix was a sort of moral guiding force, I guess. Apollo standing up and holding his own against a superior is a legitimate way to show that he’s come into his own. Plus, since it’s not framed in a negative light (or at least, it shouldn’t be) it’s more impactful than phoenix being straight up evil since that would make it easy to take him down. This is a contest between two people who simply happen to be on opposite sides of the chess board. Again, it’s a pretty legit way to show Apollo’s growth.
...that said, I just wish it wasn’t happening after zero character build up and a heaping serving of bullshit. :T
Oh well. At least they got something right.
-
it is pretty hilarious how much they’re trying to up the drama though. it’s not that deep, guys
-
I guess Atishon just doesn’t have legs
[snerk] his shitty speeches are actually kinda funny. ...if a little cliché.
-
...he’s standing... but I'm still not ruling out that he’s legless...
-
Tbh, even though Atishon is clearly lying, the fact that Datz basically threatened the orb out of Buff does make this kind of in their favour.
-
...Apollo, don’t overcomplicate the case. All you have to do is prove that it’s not the crystal and you can have it.
-
Reasons Apollo would make a good rebel: He doesn’t blab his rebelness all over the place for no reason.
-
SEXY PAN UP SHOT FOR MS. SKYE
nice ankles, ms skye.
-
“Ema..?”
“Use some manners, we’re in court”
thats not the way you acted the last time you were called as his witness :/
-
whoa seriously whats with the sudden crazy 180 for Ema? Yeah, she’s grumpy, but suddenly she’s acting like Apollo’s some rude little shit off the street. Why is she upset that he’s going up against Phoenix? Why does he need to apologize? JUST BEING ON OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE COUTROOM DOESN’T MAKE YOU ENEMIES.
or did the SOJ team forget the lessons we learned in the trilo–– oh who am i kidding they’ve never even laid eyes on those.
-
“You’ll never get the job done with that attitude. Take it from someone who’s been there” Been where???? Been where, Ema?????? what the fuck are you talking about what is going on
-
haha the fey statue and the urn were ‘stolen’, huh? yeah. stolen from a better game.
-
pfft. So Buff’s some Kaitou Kid type, huh?
-
y’know ive been neglecting to mention it but have you noticed how much they skimp on animation compared to DD? DD had like 20 tiny animated cutscenes, and SOJ has one lame one at the beginning of each case to set it up. I can’t believe they even slashed the animation budget.
-
has anyone noticed how unfocused 3D phoenix looks. he looks like he’s just. staring out into space.
-
i love they don’t use gendered pronouns to refer to Buff’s kid. Remember the last time they did that? Mr. Andrews......
-
“I was shocked to see the urn that came from Kurain in Kurain”
anyway quit referencing actually good games, SOJ. Back to the shame corner for you.
-
oh COME ON. How do you steal a fucking wall relief?!
and he really couldn’t just get a fucking permit? what the fuck is this
-
“but good intentions are no get-out-of-jail-free-card”
they are a sentence-lightening card, though! either way, this is one of the things i like most about AA. No matter how good your intentions were you still dont get away with cold-blooded murder.
OR KIDNAPPING, AURA. HAVE FUN IN JAIL YOU SHITTY EXCUSE FOR LESBIAN REPRESENTATION.
-
every single theft of an artifact can be attributed to Dr. Buff. every single one.
-
alright, so we’re back to that whole ‘missing object report’. Thing is, unless there really IS a Crystal of Ami Fey, this wouldn’t work out. Atishon has to provide evidence that he owned the item, or that it existed in the first place. If this crystal turns out to be made up I’m gonna pitch a fuckin fit.
Don’t disappoint me, SOJ.
-
“Wimperson”
ah, SOJ, with all the comedic genius of a third-grader.
...to be fair i could say the same about Larry but i like larry and AA1. and it also plays into his phrase-thingy!
-
seriously. gimme pics of the crystal or we’re gonna have some serious problems.
-
“So how do you know this item is the thing he’s looking for”
“he said so”
THATS. NOT EVIDENCE.
-
oh judge, your oldness never ceases to be to be enjoyable
(that wasn’t sarcasm btw i love that dumb running gag)
-
seeing phoenix scream from the opposite side of the table is very enjoyable. just because i love seeing phoenix scream but also like having that scream not mean something bad for my case.
i get to have my cake and eat it too! <3
-
um i dont think you can put dashes in email addresses.
-
“Don’t tell me!”
“Oh, but I will anyway.”
I love Apollo so, so much.
-
so you looked far enough into this that you tried to hack his computer but you’ll accept “its mine cause i said so” as concrete proof of something??
-
“Maybe the recipient of the email was a dog lover!”
he might be on the other side with the kid gloves off but phoenix is still Phoenix “a baseball also has stitches” Wright.
-
fuck. he walks to the bench. he cant not have legs.
...but maybe........
-
what the fuck
Atishon has the same birthday as my dad
DISGUSTING
-
oh my god, seeing phoenix /sweating/ on the other side is even more surreal
-
i also love that everyones making ‘politicians are gross’ jokes willynilly but they all forget that they’re Criminal Defence Lawyers
-
“This is... Quite... a thing... you’ve said”
I'm wheezing
this is turning out to be way funnier than i expected
please SOJ I'm having fun don’t stop me now
-
i mean he has a point. if Atishon leant the item to Bluff to study that still means that Atishon owned it in the first place.
HOWEVER, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE PROOF OF THE ORIGINAL ITEM IN ANY WAY RESEMBLING WHAT WE’VE GOT HERE.
-
its so weird to see phoenix on the wrong side of the bench that i keep getting his voice wrong when i read him out loud. i keep making him sound deep and authoritative instead of... well, how he usually sounds.
-
“Well, grandchildren ARE meant to be spoiled... I mean, that’s what grandfathers are for!”
judgeyyyyyyyyy
im crying
-
ema: can i fuck off now
-
“lets get more info on the crystal”
FINALLY. thank you, athena.
-
NO, NOT ITS HISTORY, DAMNIT
PROVE THAT IT EXISTS AND YOU OWNED IT.
-
“back in the old country”
...england..?
-
pft i though his testimony said “The Hilarious History” instead of illustrious history and i was so ready
-
“he protected the spirit mediums, a minority back then, from the rest of the locals”
well thats a big fat lie because
A) Kurain village is build on mediums
B) no way the Fey clan would allow a male ruler
we could reaaaaaaaallly use some photo evidence, Atishon.
-
“One Ives Shineto”
ok what the FUCK. where the hell are all the women?! HEY. SOJ TEAM. DID YOU EVEN GLANCE AT THE  oh of course you didnt fuck meeeeeeeeee
also whats that pun
-
FFFF PHOENIX YA LIL SHIT
-
“The transformation the mediums underwent when channeling spirits frightened the locals”
i am glad to know changing your entire bone structure is as scary looking as it sounds. of course, i doubt people would be frightened for too long when they were talking to deceased loved ones.
-
i must say they did do a good job writing Atishon’s lines.
-
“The Kurain channeling technique is known to have originated from Kooraheen, and Ami was said to travel there to train”
No, Ami invented the technique, and according to your backstory, she lived there first. Can you even keep your own facts straight?
I mean, apart from all this being bullshit and i hate it.
-
i legit cant believe it took THAT LONG for phoenix to point out the fact that the handover agreement was signed under duress.
that'd be like, the first thing i pointed out.
...ah, there it is. I knew this couldn't stay a happy little civil case for long. Here comes the murder.
Also, really Phoenix? You didn’t bring up the fact that he might have been killed any earlier too?
-
Now that theyre bringing up the pile of books, I realize how ridiculous it is that there were so many of them on the ground. Pulling out one book might dislodge one or two next to it, but not the entire shelf. For the books to have fallen like that, they would have needed to have been shoved from the other side, or for the shelf to have listed forwards. neither of those things are possible. and nobody noticed this?!
i mean the only reason i didnt think about it was because i knew this was murder from the start.
-
Man, Phoenix, with all your “with respect for the dead” talk, it sure did take you a while to bring up the fact that you knew he was murdered and the police should probably be getting on that right now.
>edit: Actually I just realized how despicable that is; keeping the fact that this was murder secret just to use it later on as a quick bargaining chip in your civil case.
Hey capcom? You can screw up the series all you like but FUCK you for making Phoenix a skeezy piece of shit on par with the likes of von Karma. Because you know who else withholds information that sensitive for such a petty reason? MANFRED VON KARMA.
Fuck you, capcom, fuck you, fuck you, FUCK you.
-
“Did you forget who you were up against, Mr. Justice?”
All I do is hurl baseless accusations!!
-
wow the second this turned into murder i just got tired of this case. Also, Phoenix, you better back your butt back to your seat. Being a murder case, this requires a prosecutor... something that you are not.
-
theres AN AUTOPSY REPORT. WHY ISNT THIS A SEPARATE TRIAL.  THIS SHOULD BE A SEPARATE TRIAL; THIS SHOULD BE BEING... TRIAL-ED IN ANOTHER COURTROOM. you can reference it, and use it as evidence, BUT YOU CAN’T JUST COMBINE THEM.
Damnit, Capcom, I TOLD YOU NOT TO DISAPPOINT ME.
BUT YA JUST COULDN’T HELP IT, COULD YOU.
-
...Datz is in the gallery... But he was just in jai–– fuck it whatever
-
ok now that this is a murder trial Atishon’s non-answers aren’t funny anymore, theyre ANNOYING. I WANT THIS SHIT TO BE OVER AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. YAP ME A CONTRADICTION OR I’LL CRAM YOUR BELOVED PLAQUE UP YOUR POLITICALLY INEPT ASS.
-
“Try me, o lord of plebs”
its been a long time since any meme-y type person has called someone else a pleb... please try to keep up, SOJ.
-
i love that phoenix, at the end of each statement, politely states “get the fuck on with it, asshat”
-
why the fuck did he
fall asleep what
OOO THE JUDGE YELL
AW YEA
-
“What did I ever do to deserve this?”
you existed in the first place, Apollo. I’m sorry.
-
No.............
I do not like that Phoenix used the phrase, “Witness, I think it’s time for you to come clean.”
You know who uses phrases like that.
Assholes.
-
“You should know I always come fully prepared, Justice!”
( buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it––)
-
...Right, so Phoenix isn’t a prosecutor but he sure as hell has been doing a lot of prosecutorial things. Calling all the witnesses, explaining the case, etc.
Oh and he and and Atishon still didn’t tell anybody that Buff was most likely murdered right off the bat so ffffffuck you capcom
-
Fuck you, Datz. Stop laughing and fucking focus on the fact that you’ve been accused of murder and it’s kinda tough on your ol’ pal Apoll– oh wait silly me i forgot none of you give a rats ass about him. All you do is laugh and eat and sit around waiting for Sadmad to come home.
-
“Better brace yourself, son”
Hey guess what Dad warranty expires if you haven’t made or tried to make contact in 20 years so get that word out of your nasty mouth, Dhurke.
-
“Worried this might make a rift between you two...
...and that you might then leave the agency”
haha
“Hahaha. She has an active imagination”
hahahah
hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA
-
“...Nothing a little persuasion couldn’t handle.”
Capcom. If it was something douchey. I will tear you in half.
-
SEXY PAN UP SHOT FOR
robot guy
-
i remember when i used to be excited for each new case. now I'm just scared what new horrors the next will bring.
-
hang on why does the drone not have a special sound font? if it didnt disguise the operator’s voice it would be kind of obvious who they were...
-
HOLY SHIT MISSILES
SO... THE WHOLE “BOMBS IN THE COURTROOM ARE HORRIFIC THING” FROM DD IS JUST FORGOTTEN, HUH??
-
hang on.
“Capitalist pig; I’ll turn you into pork stroganoff”
is “Sarge” legit Russian, then? That explains the “Komandir” thing. Shit, I have to change my voice.
-
ok so Sarge is written with an American Sargent phonetic accent, but uses Russian rankings and seems to be communist. What am I missing???
-
“I guess he does dress like he’s in the military...”
hes a paratrooper!!! why dont you know that? i thought you grew up with him.
-
“That’s true. Papa didn’t keep our house locked up.”
...the... archeologist... with a house full of priceless treasures... didn’t lock his fucking doors.
hey congrats for trusting the mediums and all but guess what? thats irresponsible as fuck and incredibly stupid for a supposed thief so I'm kinda surprised it took you this long to be discovered/bumped off.
-
those have got to be nerf bullets cause firing a GUN in court is just fucking ridiculous. like too far for Ace Attorney. Melee weapons, ok. Long range firearms? No.
...Though... Note to self... Next time, when creating parody prosecutor, you now have legit grounds to just give him a fucking gun........
-
“Sorry, but I’m afraid lawyers are missile-proof.”
Note to self. Upgrade gag prosecutor to missile launcher.
-
ooh, i see this drone is in the same vein as the Assassin’s Radio.
-
“Courtroom warriors don’t use guns or missiles, because evidence is our weapon of choice!”
Ahah! THATS why prosecutors are so violent. They never have any evidence to back up their assertions so they just fuckin ASSAULT people.
-
i... had a little chuckle at ‘truth bomb’
-
“What’s with him and Siberia of all places?”
Well context wise it seems he's some kind of... Defected-to-communist American?
-
Huh. Athena’s powers must be based purely on sound waves then. Interesting.
Anyway, it’s mood matrix time! Hooray!!! I’ve warmed a lot to the Mood Matrix to be honest. I like the glowy lights.
-
I’m gonna make a guess right now that something was on fire. Cause thats some PTSD shit right there.
-
pfft the gallery was so on board with their new judge overlord. Also thank goodness this is Ace Attorney and this shit is allowed to fly, cause you’d get your ass handed to you if you tried this in real court, pal.
-
Um, I wouldn’t dig any deeper if sarge is still in such a state. It’s not... safe. Either that or you best hope that thing’s bottomless magazine has run out. Plus, I love that whoever’s watching over the actual Sarge in the Lobby hasn’t tried to stop them when they noticed them SCREAMING AND PRESSING THE ‘FIRE’ BUTTON REPEATEDLY.
Or they’ve left Sarge unattended and the Dark Age of the law isn't over because it was an omnipresent thing to begin with...
-
its ok, game. contrary to what you think, you did write Sarge’s backstory in a memorable enough way for me to remember it up until now.
-
Huh.
HUH.
So... the person involved in writing Ace Attorney Investigations... Has written a sequence in which we must burn evidence to prove a point, huh?
:T
-
DONT YOU HINT AT ME, GAME
-
that solemn moment of reflection doesn’t include Phoenix cause he’s over behind his desk bawling his eyes out
“I’LL BE YOUR NEW PAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”
-
actually Athena’s got a point. Her tragic backstory is much more similar to Sarge’s than Apollo’s. She can properly relate to losing one’s last family member in a horrific way.
-
S––
Well, considering her age, Cutesie Pan-up shot for Armie.
-
Apollo’s having serious Robin Newman flashbacks right about now
-
ahhhhhhhhhh. her mom was Russian. It all makes sense. Tbh just for now, forgetting everything else, this kind of does feel like an old case. I’m at peace... for now.
-
i guess it’s less of an orb and more of some kind of lantern then. Cause you can’t really burn a crystal
unless its
whitcrystal
hahah
hahahahahahahhaha
-
so far I'm ranking the cases from best to worst: Magical, This part of Revolution, Foreign, Rite and Storyteller.
-
sgsjgsjsjjs athena’s INTENSE LOOK OF HUNGER as Apollo burns the orb
“I wanna see me some sweet mama goddess”
-
damn shit thats her face
thats uh
o
ohhhh
oh i see. I was wondering what the ‘great power’ the orb could bestow upon people was, and now I realize that since it depicts her face, if someone knows her name, they could channel her. And since she's basically an actual goddess that would bestow some serious power.
not bad, not bad at all.
i know i highly dislike Kooraheen but i legit feel kinda blessed
-
“The issue is crystal clear”
*seals phoenix’s fate with a fucking pun*
-
dont keep saying “did we just win” before the verdict is handed down, you'll jinx it.
-
oh hey, blackmail. its like a perfect reenactment of Capcom getting Phoenix to sign onto this sequel.
-
Phoenix: According to the legend, once the founder returned... She would bestow spiritual power onto the person who solved the riddle.
Apollo: ...Y-youre kidding, right?!
[Apollo looks flummoxed, the gallery whispers. We cut back to Phoenix’s smirk, and then––”
???: Phoenix... Just give it up.
[Phoenix screams in shock. We pan back to Apollo......... Who now has D-Cup breasts and a very familiar face.]
/...i wish.
-
legit tho i cant believe he's trying to pull this. I'm cackling
this is the lawyeriest lawyer ploy ive ever seen
-
“What’s gotten into him?”
bad writing.
-
sdsgsdhjafhgj EVEN THE JUDGE IS CALLING BULLSHIT IM CRYI
-
(sigh) i guess we’re really gonna have to finish this, aren’t we. oh well. on we go! let’s forge ahead!
-
y’know i just remembered that Pearl appeared like, once in this. Was that her only part? I guess she just existed to remind us that Kurain village used to have girls in it.
-
noooooooo fuuuuuuuuuuck
i really hope the contradiction doesn’t require pressing because i aint sitting thru this fuck’s antics again.
-
it has rounded corners.
and its huge.
-
phoenix and apollo’s objections are too similar, i can never tell who’s screaming.
-
“There haven't been many murders there, I take it”
well........ not “many”
-
i love that Atishon pledges to banish murdeer from Kurain village and Apollo is all “yea good luck with that” like Murder is inevitable, even in a tiny village like Kurain.
Thats. kinda terrifying.
...though considering the way Kurain is...
-
i cant tell phoenix and apollo’s voices apart (sigh)
i never know whose objecting
-
Phoenix: my client couldn't have viewed the murder directly from where he said he was, but the fact remains that he had inside knowledge of said crime!
...phoenix, you’re just trying to help apollo along, right? you didnt seriously believe that that sounded positive to your case, instead of Shady as Fuck, right??
-
“You talk big, Mr. Justice, but do you have what it takes?”
he just finished telling Phoenix he was about to put what Phoenix taught him into practice. Phoenix should be swallowing a lump in his throat and trying not to cry of pride right now.
-
“that suitcase could be a weapon anyone could use!”
yeah... yeah! even someone in a wheelchair!! oh wait wrong case.
..........but we still have someone in a wheelchair
-
a 3D crimscene view
haven't seen that shit since AAAJ
-
‘THAT SHITSTAIN ON THE BOOK PROVES HE WAS HAVIN THE COFFEE SQUIRTS, CASE CLOSED BOYS”
sorry i just felt like being vulgar
-
“and there it is, the final excuse cornered killers are so fond of”
holy shit
i love apollo
-
phoenix shut up please, just shut up
let it end
let me rest
-
oh wait
ah here we go.
-
“hes a bright young politician with a future ahead of him, its in our nations best interests to avoid burdening him with the taint of scandal”
hey, uh Enshiro
ill never forgive you for putting those words in Phoenix Wright’s mouth
-
“Lawyer! Do something! Or a bad thing will happen to ‘her’!”
no? nobody else heard that incredibly obvious threat? nobodys gonna
“whats he talking about? well, i can ponder that later. for now...”
FUCK
YOU
DO YOU HAVE A BRAIN THAT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR FUCKING EARS?!
HOW THICK HEADED DO YOU HAVE TO FFUCKING BE TO NOT RECOGNIZE A GODDAMN THREAT WHEN YOU HEAR ONE YOU
YOU
YOU PUTRID PICKLED RED PEPPER?!?!??!?!
-
Athena: oh yeah i also heard Atishon making blatant threats at Phoenix but meh, phoenix made me pinky swear not to tell.
I’m not shitting a lung in fury, I’m just getting rid of an organ i dont need through the nearest available passage. I’m perfectly calm and not cursing this game, Eshiro and his entire team to the pits of their own stupid made up hell.
-
“I had no idea. This must’ve been excruciating for him.”
i wanted to write a sarcastic jingle but i had trouble coming up with rhymes, so the blunt bottom line is:
when you’re not good at writing, simply steal clever and impactful plots from previous iterations so that you’ll seem clever and exciting
i mean
nobody even remembers Farewell my Turnabout anymore, right????
-
what the fuck is his deal with being king
-
OH SHUT UP DURKE
GO FUCK YOURSELF
think youre gonna steal Franziska and Mia’s thunder????????????? no
you aren’t a fucking fraction of an inch as cool as either of them.
-
“he’s saved my neck so many times”
w
when
-
“where there’s a will, there’s a way”
how about where theres a whip, theres a better game?
-
“wait................... maybe we can summon the founder now that we can see her face??”
aww. you got there in the end, didnt you apollo.
-
...that doesnt automatically spare Maya’s life. Pearl is also a spirit medium. And i’m fairly certain there are other–– oh wait SOJ retconned that neverMIND
anyway, Atishon could still bump Maya off and then force Pearl to channel Mamma Kooraheen
-
OH MY GOD HE JUST BROUGHT UP PEARL
WHY PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID
-
WIMPERSON BROUGHT UP PEARL
THE IDIOT VILLAIN BROUGHT UP THE FLAW IN YOUR BRILLIANT PLAN
GSEGFISGUILSGIULSGUI;SRHG
-
“pearl wouldn't help you if anything happened to maya”
um. you morons think he’d politely ask her to help??? he's already kidnapped someone and threatened their death?? he and his founder aren't above torture or blackmail????????????
you FUCKING MORONS
-
why even bother resigning? just do what you did before and let him go to jail.
-
...this’d better just be a lead up to his breakdown animation
-
YOU COCKSUCKING FUCKSTAINS JUST END IT ALREADY
END IT END IT END IT EDN TI EDNEI HDFI HSRLG SIHFLIHIR HF;LIVHLSIRHIGHISRHOVGLORIH’WI’HSGOI’WSGZIHSI
-
“if only you'd been smart enough to kill the girl, too...”
wow
-
...what the fuck
well that was... interesting.
-
i cant even celebrate Phoenix congratulating Apollo, I'm just so tired
there are like 85 sarcastic remarks i could make but I'm just so exhausted
-
yay we got the orb
dootdootdoot dootdootdoot
-
even the judge doesnt want to have anything more to do with this.
im right there with ya judgey
-
“All I can say is, thats my boy!”
NO, YOU DONT GET TO CLAIM PARENTAL PRIDE OF THIS KID
HES NOT YOUR BOY
YOU BARELY RAISED HIM
GO HOME AND DO YOUR SHITTY COUP
-
“Still, its kinda nice to be appreciated”
if only you actually were, Apollo
-
yeah, thought so... ill bet they dont even channel her. cop out.
“tsk, thats no fun” indeed, trucy
-
i love how nobodys like “OK WHERE’S MAYA??? IS SHE OK???”
its fine her whereabouts are unknown and the last info on her was just that her life was in danger
pfffff
-
its alright, Armie has a place at the WAO
-
"i knew if i admitted i could walk, id have to leave the house”
uh honey newsflash: you can leave the house in a wheelchair too. I'm pretty sure your dad would let you stay inside anyway
-
christ how fucking corny can you get. I CAN WALK AGAIN. why dont we just have Tiny Tim in here throwing away his crutch and dancing a fucking jig
-
see, there we are. Maya’s still in danger you fuck wits.
-
and part one is over, folks! i am pooped. and furious.
till next time.
