so me n sibling finished rise rewatch with all the newfound turtle lore after our big tmnt media binge......... many feelings i wanna get out

firstable........ how anyone watched this show and didnt think those were the ninja turtles in purest form i will never understand. like you cannot deny any of these characters being the same characters but with new roles to fill. raph is the protector. mikey is the heart. leo is the strategist. donnie is the brain. it just created a new dynamic, but never strayed very far from what came before

second....... take the ninja turtles and just hammer home a story about generational trauma and healing from it, giving them strength from how much they love and trust each other.... you break my heart wide open i am crying

to me they are the best amalgamation of all the turtles who came before them like: silly and sweet like 87, they have this close familial understanding unconditional love like 03, and this overarching story of bringing a family back together like 12

started this watch of all turtle media because rise on its own felt so good, but having gone back and seen all the other pieces i was missing makes me appreciate what it was doing more, because i felt every other series and movie in this one in spirit, but with the ideals of the modern cartoon saying: hey kids, its okay to ask for help, youre not alone, your feelings matter, and the people around you should support you

and on top of that, obviously the most visually stunning version to date, utilizing years of lessons learned from western cartoons and anime, meshing together in breathtaking action, but also having the most hilariously snappy comedic animation that uses what seem like cheap movements of a frame to make every line of dialogue all the more hysterical, and having these very expressive characters be able to be very subtle in the touching emotional moments.

i genuinely love this show so much and i feel really stupid for not having watched it sooner, and the fact it is the shortest of all the shows that never got the chance to finish its story makes me so sad. but at least what story it did get to tell was beautiful.

I have to rant a bit about VLD,ss2

So I have finished half of Voltron ss2, they were kind of "meh", very plot driven, kinda rushed, focus on Keith and Shiro a little bit too much but was executed well . I like the interaction between them, it's caring and supporting, and while I ship Klance af, I can believe Keith have a oneside romantic attraction to Shiro :) I would love for the sexuality aspect to be explored in the next season as the crew had promised.. Now for the shit I have to endure, which means the injustice for Lance and Hunk's development, mostly Lance because he's my precious son who deserves the best Have read all the spoilers I kind of guess that Lance is not the main focus of the season, but I dont expect him to be reduced into a comic relief and such flat character except a few moments he got to shine Am I salty? Hell to the fucking yes..He's a great, well-built character with lots of potential to touch on, also relatable to others because of his self-esteem issue. Lance isnt just a flirting machine and a dork, he's kind and selfless and a great sharpshooter even when he thinks he isnt and no one appreciated him. His Cuban root was also ignored ( I have faith in Jeremy, so I will let it slide for now) It was a waste for this season not to dig a little deeper into those potential, like highlighting his leadership skill we had a glimpse in ss1 and a bit in ep 2. The crew did a great job for Shiro, Pidge and Keith's character arc, but they didnt do justice for Lance and Hunk, gosh Im salty Am I optimistic about him getting a shit ton of developement in season 3? Yup.. The hints are there, subtle but there. SS3 will be about Keith become Voltron leader, and for Lance as Keith's rival, would have a hard time to accept that, couple with his crippling inferiority complex and self doubt, it's going to be spicy. The Voltron crew has set up for Lance's great breakdown and development and if it dont happen inseason 3, I will be extremely dissapointed As for shipping material, I were kinda sad that Klance didnt have a lot of developement but they were cute whenever they interacted, so it's okay (They're gonna have big fight in ss3 and then their bond will be stronger than ever, I can feel it). I dont ship Sheith (it makes me uncomfortable) but like I have said, their moments were great even with my Klance shipper side screaming in rage lol To fully enjoy this season, I have to remind myself to watch without my bias shipping goggles, but with my Asexual-af-nitty-critic one lol Kallura is an unwelcoming surprise though. They dont have a lot of chemistry so nope..( I dont like forced hetero crap no thank you) But at this point I will ship Lance with that mermaid girl Plaxum in ep 2 because APPARENTLY SHE IS APPRECIATED OF WHAT MY BABY HAD DONE FOR HER PEOPLE AND SHE WILL TREAT HIM WITH LOVE AND CARE UNLIKE SOMEONE WHO LOVES TO SIDELINE HIM THIS SEASON Screw shipping war, I'm game with anyone who gives a shit about my ray of sunshine Lance. Hance is an excellent choice XD More, Lotor is coming, and in the original he has an unhealthy obsession with Allurs the Blue Paladin, so can I hope we will have a Keith/Lance/Lotor triangle? If they keep the Lotor character like in the original, I could see him and Lance will have great interaction and complex relationship. And My shipper side is giddy with this thought And what the fuck with that ending, let Shiro rest please. Space Dad needs a safety blanket, warm cocoa and a trip to sunny side beach with a therapist so no fuckery can hurt him anymore
