For me the ācanon homoerotic subtextā between brick!Valjean and Javert is really more about the parallels between Javert and Eponine, who are explicitly set up as character foils.
Brick!Javert isnāt obsessed with Valjean like he is in adaptations. Heās not psychosexually obsessed with hunting him down; he really doesnāt seem to think of him as being any different than any other criminalā- he doesnāt think about Jean Valjean much at all until after Jean Valjean saves his life.
But after the barricades, Javertās sudden weird desperate emotions about Jean Valjean are like a twisted mirror of his character foil Eponineās weird desperate emotions for Marius.
Some guy takes pity on them, and extends them a bit of basic impersonal kindnessā and they react by descending into this violently self-destructive suicidal admiration built on self-loathing. Theyāre both described as making themselves the ādogsā of Marius/Valjean, the dogs of people who barely remember they exist.
And anyway! I think there is potential to explore things there in analysis and fanfiction

The Arkanian legend of Vice General Valentine is one that Hux knows well. During a period of intense civil war that split the planet in two halves, the Vice General held secret ceremonies for lovers on opposite sides of the war who wanted to marry, to bond. He was eventually found, of course, and his treachery led to his death but the centuries old tale is honoured once a year on Valentineās Day, a day that celebrates love in all of its forms.
When the calendar notification flashes up on his datapad, Hux scrunches his nose up in disgust. It makes him want to throw his datapad across his chambers but instead, he huffs with revulsion and sits up straighter in his bed. Ridiculous; of all the things to commend, he can hardly believe that his people would choose to honour someone who was a traitor to his own allegiance. Valentineās Day is nothing more than a commercial trap that is set for half-witted fools who believe that theyāre in the throes of infatuation, and it makes Hux sick to his stomach.
āHappy Valentineās Day, lover.ā
Hux frowns, but accepts the kiss from Kylo anyway. The Knight gives him a gentle peck on the lips before moving to kiss both of his cheeks, forehead and nose before handing a cup of Huxās morning caf to him.
āHow do you know about Valentineās Day?ā Hux asks, happily taking the beverage.
āItās a Chandrillan tradition,ā Kylo says, sitting down on the bed. He sets his hand upon Huxās leg and rubs it absentmindedly; Hux silently admits how much these small actions of affection mean to him. āA Lieutenant of the Chandrillan army went against the orders of his superior officer to forbid her to marry someone she loved. Something about him having familial links to an enemy. But he married him anyway, and the two performed covert marriage ceremonies for people in the same situation. They eventually became The Lords Valentine. People from Chandrilla honour them once a year on Valentineās Day.ā
āThatās not the story,ā Hux scoffs. āAnd itās a tale from an Arkanis legend, not from Chandrilla.ā
āI know my history, Hux.ā
āAs do I, Ren. Valentineās Day is an annual celebration of love on Arkanis.ā
āOn Chandrilla too.ā
The likelihood of a military man with the same name becoming involved in secret marriage ceremonies on two completely different planet seems far too impossible for Huxās logical mind to comprehend but he sees the softness in Kyloās eyes and decides not to challenge it any further. And then, he sees something else.
The room is covered in red roses; petals are scattered everywhere and on every surface whilst long-stemmed roses stand proudly in perfect arrangements in vases. There must be hundreds of them, all seemingly glittering in the low light of their bed chambers. The sight of them surrounding him is one of the most beautiful things that Hux has ever seen.
āRen,ā Hux sighs with a smile. āWhatās this?ā
āLike I said, Happy Valentineās Day, lover,ā Kylo says as a large bunch of roses float elegantly into his open hand. He holds them out to Hux, who takes them and inhales their fresh aroma.
āI didnāt get you anything,ā Hux says dejectedly. āIāve neverā¦Iāve never had to before.ā
āYouāve already given me everything I need, Hux,ā Kylo says, leaning in closely until his lips are almost upon Huxās. āYouāre my air. Youāre my heart. Youāre my galaxy. What else could I ever need?ā
Perhaps Valentineās Day isnāt so ridiculous after all, now that he has someone to share his love with.

Japanās concept of confession and why Ochaco might not confess
āConfessionā is a big deal in a country as subtle as Japan. Not all people have the courage to confess, but when starting official relationships confessions are often expected. This is what I know confessions to be like in the world of manga: Person A talks alone with Person B and shares with them the secrets of their heart. āI like you please accept my feelings.ā This usually ends either with them going out or A being rejected by B. The usual reason for the rejection is āI like someone else.ā
Iāve been having some more ideas about the day Izuku fell into Kacchanās arms and how what Kacchan did for him was almost confessional in a way. He told Izuku what was in his heart, why he bullied him and that no matter how much he tried, he just couldnāt escape him. He called him āIzukuā and we saw the impact this had on Izukuās face.Ā
Izuku just couldnāt believe that Kacchan was calling his name properly for the first time in 12 years, it completely shocked him, and after apologising for everything, he told Izuku, āCome home, letās do this together. We need to help each other in this fight against AFO.āĀ
The conclusion of this confession was that Izuku acquiesced to 1-Aās request for him to return, but it was onlyĀ really possible because his attachment to Kacchan triumphed over his motivations to stay away.Ā It was Kacchan who broke down his walls with his apology. It was Kacchan who filled him with hope that things would be better, and Kacchan who finally hammered into Izuku how important it was for him to be part of the collective. That his inclusion was very wanted and needed, and that he in turn can rely more on everyone as well. That together, they can push forward, trusting in and helping each other.
I think what hurt Izuku the most during his solo arc was being away from his friends, butĀ especially Kacchan. Because that day in the rain, he literally gave up on his solo vigilante mindset for him. After hearing Kacchanās unbelievable words he had patiently longed to hear for years, it was impossible for Izuku to stay away from him any longer. As he passed out, he stumbled a few steps towards Kacchan who, without missing a beat, caught him in his arms and gently held him. This embrace told us āFrom now on itāll be different.Ā Iām gonna be here for you, Izuku.ā
So to recap all of that... Kacchan became vulnerable and spilled what was in his heart, Izuku accepted his desires, with it all culminating in them becoming closer. Which is justĀ like a successful romantic confession!?
I think after watching this all go down, something inside Ochaco clicked. A lot of the class are rushing over to Izuku when Kacchan catches him because theyāre just so worried about him, but a few of them, Ochaco included, stay standing back. It doesnāt make much sense at all. But weāre given a zoom in of her without knowing any of the thoughts going through her mind.
They got Izuku back, but she doesnāt really seem all that happy. Momo says to her āthis is just the first obstacle we arenāt done yetā and she agrees. Ochaco knows that thereās still more they as a group need to do for Izuku to make his return happen. But the fact that thereās a few panels dedicated to zooming in on her staying put, her almost emotionlessĀ face (mirroring Shotoās) while sheāsĀ watching Kacchan save Izuku and his new unbridled intimacy he has with him - could be telling us that thereās something else sheās processing.
Is this moment somber for her because she realised the person Izuku needs the most is none other than the person he has openly admired since she first met him? The very same person who always bared his fangs at Izuku because he was scared him getting close?
Was Ochaco witnessing the beginning of something new between them and suddenly finding herself sidelined as a contender for Izukuās affections?
Somehowā¦ this could be what it was all about. And thatās why I think thereās a good chance Ochaco gave up her crush on Izuku for good when she witnessed Katsuki return his love and embrace him after that emotionally-charged apology. After this, a more defined distance between her and Izuku appears visible in their next scene together. A respectful distance of Izukuās own choosing.
It was like a definitive line had been drawn out that canāt and perhapsĀ shouldnāt be crossed. Maybe they both understood that the person Izuku wanted close by his side has always been Katsuki. That desire wasnāt simply a pipe dream to Izuku anymore, it had become reality. And who is Ochaco to get in the way of that?
And then itās almost like she is bookending Katsukiās confession to Izuku with a confession of her own about Toga, putting a close to the Izuocha chapter and she makes a comment which feels double in meaning.Ā āI guess that means we are the same.ā or You love a boy, just like I might love a girl. (To put it bluntly)
And Izuku remembers this line again after he gets separated from Kacchan and Ochaco is telling him to go. Go back to Tenko. Go back to your Kacchan.
The concept of āknowing how someone feels because you love them and always watch over themā comes up from time to time in manga. In a way, thatās also a reason why Kacchan and Izuku understand each other as deeply as they do and they arenāt afraid of showing it off. They were always watching each other from a safe distance and learning things about each other in this way. I think during chapter 322, this concept is what was happening to cause such a realisation in Ochaco. (And itās also for this reason Tsuyu, who never had feelings for Izuku, still doesnāt get it.)
It was hard for her, knowing everything she does about Izukuās deep attachment to Kacchan, to learn that Izukuās affections for him werenāt one-sided and they were now closer than ever beforeā¦ Thatās why I donāt think sheāll want to get in the way by confessing anymore. If Kacchanās apology was intended to be compared with a romantic confession, then Ochaco is probably aware that Izuku already āhas someone he likesāā¦ and that person isnāt her.

[Okay well this sucks.
But Joey is keeping up with Valon better than he expected to. Valon is a much more experienced rider in general, is used to riding that specific bike, and it's better designed for this kind of racing than the one Joey just happened to be able to "borrow." Around tight corners, dipping into alleys, riding up and down stairs, jumping across a waterway... Joey would make wider turns, slip a little further than he meant to, but he never lost sight of Valon for more than a second or two.
He also hasn't the faintest ever loving clue where the hell he is. But that doesn't seem to matter. Valon could very well be leading him into a trap, but... Joey's not so sure. He just has a gut feeling, just knowing it's going to be a lot more straight forward and not at all underhanded like that.
And he's right.
Valon leads the way into an empty lot. Secluded and isolated. It really would have been so easy to set this up to be some sort of ambush, but no; this is where they'll Duel.
Joey plays a little more defensively at first, hesitant and trying to ease into a feel for this stranger's fighting style. Valon goes all out, head on, facing straight into the fight. Were it anyone else, it would be dumb, but Valon's constructed his deck to suit this style. An all out offensive, the only defense being different ways to destroy the other monster in the process. He hides nothing, holds nothing back.
So Joey responds in kind.
They lay it all down; why they're fighting, what they believe in, why they believe it. Who they're fighting for, what matters to them, what drives them. Valon fights to win; victory is everything, the only thing. Joey remembers when he used to be like that. Before he befriended Yugi, and learned what it meant to fight for something. For someone. They use cards to pare away the excess, cards that conform to their bodies so they can fight even more personally. And it's... fun.
It's so much fun.
Their styles, their backgrounds, their abilities, they're different but they mesh so well. A competition that pushes one another to go further and further and be surprised about it, both at themselves and one another. When was the last time he had a fight with someone he could laugh with? Could fight while laughing?
But it hurts, too. Can't have one without the other. And with the Seal of Orichalcos, each hit to the Life Points also does real damage to their bodies. It sure didn't feel great to take a hit from a copied canon Hermos made; he almost didn't get back up. But still, it's exhilarating.
And then, Mai arrives. She can't stop them, angry as she is at Valon fighting Joey on her behalf. Only now, it isn't so much on her behalf anymore. The battle is too exciting, so uncertain, and getting so down to the wire. He genuinely doesn't know who is going to win now, and sees something in Joey and how he Duels that he and Mai lack. He understands now, he says, why she finds Joey so compelling. Joey has such a simple and direct passion for it.
They each strike again, playing their cards to their strengths. It's an explosive clash that strips them both of their armor, leaving them bruised and gasping. Their fight is rapidly coming to an end. They can't wait to see who will win. Mai watches on, sobered with the knowledge that one of them is about to lose their soul.
Rearmored, they strike again. Valon with his ace set of armor cards, Joey with Hermos boosting him once again. This strike is even more powerful than the last, Mai having to shield herself from the energy; yet still they each push harder and harder. Unfortunately for Valon, Joey is able to activate an ability. He sacrifices Red Eyes from his hand and is able to destroy all of Valon's armor monsters, and subtract their total attack from his life points. Ironic that the Seal is what dooms him; if it weren't in place, that little trick would have done zero damage. But his armor, boosted by the Orichalcos, now has 500 attack points each; more than enough to wipe him down to nothing.
It was a good fight. It's a bitter victory. Before the Seal closes, Valon says his goodbyes to Mai. He thanks Joey for the fight. He has no regrets. "And... Take care of her for me."
It hurts, to see him fall. It hurts, to see Mai run to him, cradle his empty shell of a body.
But neither of that holds a candle to how she clamps down, cuts off the sorrow, and blames Valon for doing this to himself. For being foolish. Blames Joey and accuses him of wanting to hurt Valon, wanting to kill him. He snaps back at her, but he can see she's not listening. She isn't going to. She's lying to herself about what she's really feeling, and the Orichalcos Stone is feeding into it.
There's only one thing she's going to listen to. One way she'll see his heart and have to bare hers. Just like Valon.
"Duel me, Mai."]

Omg. Jamie's hat went from saying "icon" to "i,cog" in the finale. The hat represents how he went from being self-centered and arrogant to someone who recognized his role as just "one of eleven" who needs to work together with his fellow players to succeed. Like a cog in a machine, rather than a sole icon above it all.

Ok its fucking. 7am and I've been up since 5 (gotta love early shifts when u need to take the bus) so no one's gonna see this sooo....
I've been thinking about a Pikmin OC for a particular character. I've seen a lot of rly cool wraith OCs and we've seen a couple different types so I thought it might be cool to give it a try! I was thinking some kind of Honeywraith that's honeycomb-themed and kinda attracts/controls bugs and bug-like enemies.

We are 4 away from 300 followers ya'll!! āØļø As a lot of you already know, I like to do a little something for everyone when I hit a milestone, so I'd like to do something this time too!
But what would you guys like to see? I mentioned I was looking into streaming a while back. If I could get that up and running, would ya'll like to watch some Bloodborne streams and stuff? š¤ I'd love to figure out how to stream my drawing process too, but as I only work on a Samsung S7+ tablet, there's a few more hoops to jump through to get it done.
I may open some limited slots for more sketch requests as well, on the side of whatever else we end up doing! But let me know if you guys have any ideas or any suggestions!! āØļø
