HI as most of you know last month my genshin account was hacked and it was one of the most stressful situations of my life, essentially because I did not know what to do at first. Recently I've seen people going through that too, so I thought I'd try and help them out. Also added preventive measures in case it happens, because you need a fair amount of information to prove its your account.
This comes from my personal experience and also compiles advice from the subreddit r/GenshinHacked. I'd advise against looking elsewhere because Twitter threads are a confusing mess full of contradictory info, and this subreddit is really well-done. You can directly see other people's experiences and they answer rather quickly when you make a post so!!
Also I'm severely sleep deprived right now so english hard. Obviously reblogs are very much appreciated since it's to help the community but you know. Whatever let's get into it
1. What NOT to do
- DO NOT try to buy it back. This is actually the reason I'm putting this guide together, because I've seen people buy their account back and, seriously, don't. Buying an account is against the ToS and could result in your account being banned, which is way worse than hacked because then you most likely won't get it back. Additionally, it doesn't mean the hacker won't somehow steal it again. There's no security, you'd be depending on the asshole who literally stole your account. Do not. Do that.
- DO NOT buy accounts in general. It doesn't do any good. Like I said it's against the ToS and exposes you to it getting banned or even, in the worst case, sued by Hoyoverse. Most accounts put to sale are also stolen accounts, btw. There's at least half a dozen websites dedicated to selling and buying accounts, and a shit ton of them are stolen. It's not worth it, even if the account has your fave 5* character(s) c6r5.
- DO NOT contact the hacker or, if your account has been bought, the buyer. This will just increase the chance of it getting trashed, weapons and artifacts destroyed etc. Make sure to tell your friends not to contact them either even if they want to, it's extremely important. Even when you get your account back, just block everyone from the friendlist that you don't recognize and, if someone joins your world on behalf of the buyer, block them too. I don't co-op often but I did get like half a dozen of co-op requests after getting my account back.
- DO NOT attempt to hack it back. It could result in a much worse state, e.g your account being banned. Also if you fail, higher chance of getting your account trashed.
- DO NOT assume the worst. This is mostly for your own mental health. There's a good chance your account was bought or at least the hacker's trying to sell it, so deleting weapons and artifacts would be stupid. And even if they do (which sucks), keep in mind that you'd still have your characters. If you end up with no artifacts and are on the EU server, send me an ask or a dm and I'll help you farm them back for as long as it takes! /srs
2. What to do INSTEAD
- Allow yourself to panic. It's a really stressful thing to go through, so it's only natural to be distressed. I cried for hours, man. It's okay, you'll be fine, but for now just let it happen.
- Immediately go to the aforementioned subreddit r/GenshinHacked, specifically the menu tab, and click "Recovery Form Guide". You can also reach it directly using this link: Recovery Form Guide. It tells you how to get the form, and every step of the process. Don't hesitate to make a post asking for help, they're really sweet and understanding. However if anyone contacts you through dms or even comments about some random guy being able to get it back, ignore it. It's a scam.
- Follow each step carefully, and wait. It typically takes 5-10 working days to get a response from hoyoverse, sometimes less and sometimes more. It's hard, but you can't really do anything about it. I'd say distract yourself with something else but that shit did not work for me. Just know you're not the only one going through that and I'm mentally hugging you.
- Don't give up. It can take a few tries to get it back, but as long as you have the necessary informations and can prove it's your account, you'll get it back.
3. Preventive mesures
- Don't give anyone information on your account, unless you trust them. If someone joins your world and offers to buy you a welkin, a battle pass or even just crystals but need your info to buy it, it's a scam. There's an affiliate website to gift crystals to other players - and I think you only need their UID), so they can go through there if they're sincere.
- Only buy crystals directly from Hoyoverse or affiliated websites. Same with your info.
- Install Malwarebytes on your device and let it check it for malwares. If there's anything, even if you haven't been hacked yet, completely reset your device and change your passwords.
- Enable 2FA (two-factor authentication) on your hoyolab account AND your e-mail address. I use the app Authy, so far it's been working great. I can't vouch for any other. For the hoyolab account, you can link your phone number for example.
- Collect the following information on your account:
The date you created your account. You can verify it by logging into Genshin. Menu > Character Archives > Amber. Bottom right you'll see the day you acquired her, which typically corresponds to the date you created the account.
The device you created your account with, with information about it. The form usually says what they need, and the guide from r/GenshinHacked also help. Keep it safe!
The receipt for your first top-up, if you're not f2p. A screenshot of the e-mail will suffice as far as I know (I use Google Pay tho so I'm not sure how it works for other payment options).
Information on the device you play the most with. The form is pretty clear about it.
Additional information you can get now: 5* characters (with the day you obtained them + constellations), 5* weapons (with the date you obtained them + refinements), event weapons, which characters you picked from the Liyue Lantern Rite these past 2 years (NOT absolutely necessary, I didn't add that). You can provide screenshots of getting the characters and weapons with the UID visible, but keep in mind that these can be forged so it's not fool-proof.
I got reasonably lucky: they answered in roughly a week and my form was accepted on the first try, essentially because I provided the information mentioned above. If you can access it, keep it somewhere safe.

I Know It With All My Heart
For the JatP/Stranger Things Crossover that @innytoes and I have come up with: Luke insists on seeing Reggie's "body".
Luke grits his teeth. He smacks his hand against the glass, deaf to his mother’s disapproval.
That’s nothing new, unlike whatever this sick joke is.
“I’m telling you, that’s not Reggie!”
He doesn't know how, but he knows. If his best friend was gone, he would've taken most of the color in Luke's life with him. He would've taken the light out of Julie's eyes.
The way they had flared with determination before he'd gotten into his mom's patrol car is still seared in his mind, along with the bruising kiss she'd given him despite his dad's pointed cough.
"Get answers," she'd whispered, and he has no intention of disappointing her.
He won't let grief snuff her out again.
That thing doesn't even look like a person under the garish lights of the morgue, through the thick window, let alone Reggie.
He smacks the glass again, scowling at the seemingly unbothered coroner.
“You’re state, right? You don’t know Hawkins, you don’t know Reggie’s dad. He’s got kids from here to Chicago. That could be—that could be Ricky, or Jason, or some other bastard no one knows about—"
"Lucas Mitchell!" his mom hisses, as if Mr. Peter's infidelity isn't as locally established as the fucking high school alma mater.
The coroner speaks in a clipped tone. Their face remains impassive.
"His parents have already confirmed—"
"Yeah, well, of course he might lie about it! And it's not like—like they even care!"
"He has a point," his dad mumbles.
Luke doesn't have to look back to confirm that his mom is glaring.
"Don't encourage this, Mitch. Luke, honey, it was very kind of them to let us come. The paperwork has all been squared away. This is only a formality—"
"This is bullshit! Why can't we at least be in the same room as—as him?"
She sighs. "Would it give you proper peace of mind?"
No, but he has to see for himself, to confirm what he already knows.
What he’d known before Willie had told Alex.
Not Dead. Upside Down.
They’re still trying to figure out what that last part means, but that—thing in there.
That body.
It doesn’t add up.
Reggie never goes near the quarry, hasn’t since Ray told them that ghost story about the place when they were kids. And for the state police to shoulder in and produce this thing? To bring in their own coroner? After he and Alex found Willie outside the diner? After those government goons in suits had fucking shot at them, and Willie had snapped their necks with his mind?
Call Luke crazy, but he won’t have peace of mind until Reggie’s lounging in the studio with his bass again, giving him that crooked grin, or shoving his latest country mixtape at Julie, making her giggle, or playing Tetris with Alex, or arguing with Bobby about pizza toppings.
Fucking Bobby. That asshole better be keeping Reggie’s Tamagochi alive out in LA.
Luke swallows a hysterical sob and throws the door open, barreling past the people who attempt to grab him. His mom’s voice drones in the background, and he’s vaguely grateful for whatever she says, because they reluctantly let him approach the slab, the half-covered body.
His heart lurches despite his certainty, despite the fire that’s smoldered in Julie’s eyes since Reggie disappeared, despite every ugly word he hurled at Bobby as he left, and Alex’s insistence that he heard Reggie singing Stand Tall from the stereo, and Willie’s cryptic claims.
Up close, it does look an awful lot like him.
He forces himself to look harder and nearly grips the edge of the slab as his knees buckle.
They got the pattern of his freckles wrong. They forgot the silvery thin scar on his chest from that minor car accident his mom got into about a decade ago. They neglected the sweep of his long eyelashes, the way his right eyebrow is slightly thicker than the left.
He reaches out with one trembling hand, morbidly curious, only for the coroner to snatch it.
“Absolutely not son, we’ve breached protocol enough as it is.”
His mom puts her arm around him, and he lets her usher him out of the room. For the first time in months, he lays his head on her shoulder. She combs her fingers through his fringe.
“I’m sorry, honey. I know he meant a lot to you. It can be hard to move past the denial stage, especially with a tragedy like this. Was that helpful?”
Yes. No. He doesn’t know.
Reggie’s missing, and there’s a fake body in his place, one that they’ll undoubtedly get roped into attending a funeral for. That has to be what’s happening, but anymore, Luke feels like he’s split in two when he’s with his parents, the person he knows he is and the person they want him to be. It’s only gotten worse since Reggie vanished.
He tells a partial truth, one that splits him right down the middle.
“I think so.”
One thing that he knows with all of his heart—they’re going to bring Reggie home.

Favorite KKC Character Tournament
I have few details, I have very little plans, but I will be posting this mini tournament on the blog. All related posts will be tagged #fave kkc character polls, so you can follow it or block it. I am not making a separate blog cause. . . I don't want to.
To avoid clogging up the kkc related tags either, so I think I'll make one post per round announcing the start of the round with all the tags and the rest will be tagged with poll related tags and character names.
I have a preliminary list of characters I will be using (no villains since I think it would be fun to give them their own tournament (a very mini one lol)
I know which characters I am absolutely including but unsure about the bottom seeds and I gotta figure out how to narrow it down.
The polls will start .. . idk either tomorrow or this weekend.

i'll teach you how to torrent. I'll try to be as concise but informative as possible:
- Download a torrent program or app (on PC I use qbittorrent, I don't know what's good on mobile and whether it's available on both Apple and Android phones, but as long as it works and it's not full of ads or other terrible stuff, go for it.)
- Are you an US american or canadian? Your internet provider might be a rat and will mail you warnings if they find you downloading a movie from a big studio (they don't care about most other things). Then you might need a VPN.
- Go to a torrent website. 1337x.to is a reliable good website that has most everything, sometimes the website will fail to load, but just search for 1337x on your search engine of choice and you'll find a working mirror website. If you want to download anime and other japanese media specifically, nyaa.si is -the- place to go.
- Search for what you're looking for and check "Sort by seeders". The green number denotes seeders, while the red number denotes leechers. "Seeders" are the number of people uploading the file, while "Leechers" are people downloading the file. You want the highest "Seeder" numbers, that'll denote that your file will be downloaded quickly and that it is also a trustworthy file (not many people actually want to trick you into downloading a virus, and most anti-viruses nowadays flag them)
- Click on "Magnet Download" and your torrent program should open up. Download it and enjoy!
Also, please note: Your torrents will automatically "seed" after you finish downloading them. If you have a lot of torrents seeding at the same time, click the "pause" or "stop" buttons on each of them so that you're not clogging up your internet speeds.
Note 2: If you're downloading a torrent that has many files, like say, a whole season of anime or of a TV show, you can check which files you want to download and which ones you do not want to download in case you need to save on storage space. You can also define the priority level of each file so that higher priority files download first, so that you can download quickly the first episode of a show so you can watch it while the other episodes download.
I'm not sure if you wanted me to post this as an ask, but, this is super cool and helpful. Idk if I should tag this, or if you want me to take it down I can, I have it all screenshotted anyways, but, this is wicked helpful. I always thought that the seeding part was a deliberate process you had to go through and that's a lot of why I didn't do it, plus I had heard of a lot of torrenting programs being like, also viruses in their own right? I've been doing direct downloads forever, but, it can't get you everything. Tysm for this.

another thing which is more fandom related is that the Byler fandom is just insanely annoying at times. like i love my mutuals and some of the theories and all but idk, the way we have so many stupid arguments abt small things (think this is just a problem with the entire ST fandom but i’ve not really interacted with the other sects closely enough to see those), the way alotta Bylers don’t just ship Byler bcz they like it/dislike Mlvn bcz they don’t + to us it doesn’t work but are absolutely obsessed with hating Mlvn to a stupid degree. i’ve seen alotta ppl (rightfully) clown on Mlvns for saying that all Bylers r ableist misogynists who hate El from the bottom of our hearts and specifically don’t think autistic/ND ppl can do anything and women are the devil or whatever but then turn around and say all Mlvns r homophobes who hate Will for being gay and hate Mike bcz they misunderstand his character and want him to be miserable or whatever as if that’s any better, and then there’s how so many ppl just tag any post they make as “byler”, ranging from yk, actual posts abt the ship to posts abt the fandom/nothing posts abt the cast to random unrelated ST posts that they idk don’t want those horrible evil mildew shippers finding to shit that’s entirely unrelated to Byler/ST (honest to god a few months ago i was scrolling the tag and had to block someone bcz they were clogging the tag with their random life updates) and yeah idk i’m not sure if this is exactly an unpopular opinion since we all talk a lot abt how toxic the fandom is but idk i feel like no one talks abt the over the top Mlvn hate and the annoying mistagging (at least from what i’ve seen) (also sorry this is kinda long TwT)

And yeah tbh...the mileven hate does get Extensive at times. There's disliking a ship, and then there's devoting your time to antagonizing shippers...like a loser. Atp bylerblr's not much better than the milevens are. Bylerblr is just a different flavor.
The fandom in general is gross no matter where you go, and honestly I'm glad I've detached from it to work on my own analysis niche.
(Also please don't worry about it being long, I love rambling and ranting about shit like this because it annoys me to no fucking end.)

Okay so I read the post with the black reader thingy and I agree with anon. The thing is I am poc but not black (brown girl here) and anon is right. xreader should only be for general where NO color or any hints are given. You are right about how poc are not included as much, and it's wrong of them to put 'my flowy brown/blonde hair' or 'my pale skin' but both in these situations are wrong. xreader should have ZERO hints/descriptions that can only fit a race or specific ones. I just see both of your arguments, but idk I think anon makes sense to me. Hopefully you consider this me sharing my opinion and not be aggressive./gen

i get your point, but even if someone tags something as "x (race) reader" it will still show up in the "x reader tag". therefore, people should be tagging the race of their mc so that when their fic does show up in the "x reader" tag, people can just scroll by it if they don't want to read it. i may have worded my previous post the wrong way bc i've gotten a few anon asks like this, but i was trying to say that everybody needs to tag their stories as whatever race they're blatantly describing their mc as. and if they're not blatantly describing a race, gender, etc., then just "x reader" without the specification is correct. like i said, the "x reader" tag is for everyone and for inclusivity, but saying that specifying race is clogging the tag is wrong and racist bc everything is going to show up in the tag anyway. i guess what i'm trying to say is that the tag shouldn't be gatekept. there shouldn't be people trying to make the "x reader" tag about one race when it's for everyone, like you said. i really hope i worded it correctly this time because i've gotten so many asks like this one (except they were way more rude).

Three ships: I have to pick three?? Minthara/Karlach, Baldurs Gate 3 is what is currently on my mind. It's a wild rare pair but I'm a sucker for two characters that should never get along yet fall for each other, making out and fucking nasty along the way. I should make a fic rec list so I don't clog this post up... Anyway, I'm also a long-term fan of Moira/Angela, Overwatch. The fact that they have implied history and yet have the most scathing lines to each other? They talk like exes that never got over each other and I want them to kiss like it too. Finally, Jinx/Luxanna, League of Legends. I don't even know how to explain this one. I'm in so deep with these two that it's like trying to explain why you like your favorite colour.
First ever ship: Soul/Maka, Soul Eater. Long before I knew I was trans I adored anything with non-standard gender dynamics. Here, the woman is the badass fighter and the man is the one that turns into a weapon and is dedicated and loyal to his 'meister'. Which uh, now that I'm typing this? Kinda on the nose. Also he's incredibly obsessed about what 'being a man is' which, coincidentally, was what I was obsessed with at the time. Still love these two. One of the only straight ships I check the tags of, every so often. Also in middle school a girl I had a crush on renamed all her friends to Soul Eater characters and we were Soul and Maka respectively. At the time I wasn't sure if she liked me back which is comically embarrassing.
Last song: Self by Noname. This one goes hard. Listen to it and then also everything else by Noname.
Last movie: I killed the part of me that cringes. *Takes a deep breath* It was the Fnaf movie. I saw the Fnaf movie twice. Each time with a different ex. Moving on.
Currently reading: Ashamed to admit I haven't been reading much. Lately the only books I've been opening is shit like 'Spokane Municipal Code' and 'ITE Traffic Generation, 10th ed'. I do have a copy of Reflector sitting on my desk for when I'm finally free.
Currently watching: Jujutsu Kaisen. Me and the discord pals watch the new episodes together despite the fact that we're manga truthers and way, way ahead lol. No spoilers but the next few episodes are gonna fucking break me. "How can it get worse from the last two episodes?" You sweet summer child. I will kiss you on the forehead and tuck you into bed.
Currently consuming: Water. Hydration is important, kids.
Currently craving: More hours in the day. Everything is happening like right now and I need it to stop.

Taking a break. Idk how long, and Idk if it'll be a full break where I don't post anything here or if I'll do asks on and off, but I'm gonna give myself some leeway to not come on here if it's stressing me out and only do what I can.
I appreciate the feedback on the font, but I need a break from seeing it 24/7. Someone reblogged my post with the tag "can't read this all the way because of the worst font ever" and it was just... too much for me rn. I try and make this a positive place for everyone and it feels impossible to make a place positive when no matter what, someone is being left out of the conversation based on which font I choose.
Rn I feel like all I'm doing is going in circles over a font trying to find accessibility where it just doesn't exist.
There doesn't seem to be an answer that makes everyone both happy/comfortable and keeps my posts accessible to everyone because if it's too small then it can't be read but if it's too big then it clogs feeds and hurts pwADHD and Autism and if it's not plain text then it doesn't work with screenreaders and...idk. I just don't know a solution I can feasibly do bc I'm sorry, but I can't repost everything in every font because it just destroys my own spoons that way. I don't have that kind of mental energy and even if I did once again pwADHD and/or Autism would be forced to scroll through like 3 to 4x the amount of long, stressful posts and I don't want to do that to them either so there just is no answer.
I'm sorry that I can't find a solution that works for everyone.
I will be back fully when I can.
