My first impressions of 2023 Fall anime season:
- The first ep of My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer was pretty cute and wholesome! As long as it doesn’t turn weird, I like I’ll like this story.
- I really enjoyed the 4-episode premiere of Frieren! There’s something melancholic about starting a story at the end of a journey and I like that we’re following Frieren as she retraces her steps but with a new perspective and a new companion. I’m loving the relationship between Frieren and Fern. Excited to see where the story will go!
- The opening scene of the first episode of The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent II gave me the chills! What a way to hook the audience back into the story! The rest of the episode was cute though. It’s nice to see Sei, Albert and the gang again. I’m excited for this new season!
- The first episode of I'm Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness (Ikenaikyo) was so cute!!! It’s a fairly simple story so I can see this being my comfort anime for this season!
- The first episode of The Ancient Magus' Bride S2 Part 2 went by so fast! I’m so happy to return to this story. This part of the College arc is my favorite so I’m excited to see how the anime team will adapt it!
- I really liked the first episode of SHY! A classic hero story but with a shy and introverted girl as the main character? I’m in! I also liked the little twist that happened at the end of the ep! A lot of interesting potential for our hero! Looking forward to more of this story.
- Uma Musume S3 is off to a great start! I loved how each season is focused on different pairs and this time it’s Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond. Can’t wait to see what this season has in store for us!
- The first episode of IM@S Million Live was good! I enjoyed it a lot! I really like Shizuka so far. Mirai reminds me a lot of Kasumi (Bandori) too. I can’t wait to meet all the other characters!
- The first episode of I’m in Love with the Villainess was pretty funny! I loved how unhinged Rae is when it comes to Claire. I just hope the gag won’t be too overused. I’m curious to see where the story will go and how their relationship will develop!
- SPY x FAMILY S2: The long-awaited Bullet-in-Butt date has been animated and it was such a fun episode! I really enjoyed it! I’m so happy that SxF Saturdays are back!
MVPs of this episode goes to Hayamin and the guy who voiced the Red Circus survivor. Hayamin’s range for Yor is fantastic. The pained noises that Yor made really sold the pain that she was in! The Red Circus guy was also very funny! He was so committed haha!

Omg Allen and Charlotte’s honeymoon was probably the cutest thing I’ve seen all week. After everything she’s been through, a spa day was definitely in order. Allen may not have intended for it to be a romantic themed one, but it worked out for the best. Miacha and Eruca put together an amazing outing for the two of them.
Charlotte in her swimsuit looked amazing! We love a short stacked queen. Was not expecting her to be hiding all that under those clothes but then again it is a fantasy anime so I should’ve expected lol. The pool scene was so cute with the two of them both being so flustered.
Really loved Charlotte seeing her mom in her dream and telling her about Allen. Actually a really touching moment that shows no matter how old you get, the first person you want to tell about good news is your mom. 😢 at least she’s got Allen watching over her now, her mom would be very happy.
Next week the story will start in earnest it seems. The capybara has finally started making his move

Charlotte, a humiliated noblewoman fleeing for crimes she did not commit, falls in the wilderness. Allen—also known as the "Demon Lord"—finds and saves Charlotte from her pursuers. Because she has nowhere else to go, Allen takes pity on Charlotte and offers to hire her as a live-in maid. Allen immediately discovers that Charlotte has spent her whole life subjected to contempt and hatred from her so-called noble family, and she has never experienced true independence. He decides to teach her about all the bad things the world has to offer, allowing her to give in to her desires and instincts.

FALL 2023 ANIME RECOMMENDATIONS
There are too damn many premiers this season. I tried to watch all of them, but eventually I had had enough and gave up. For the love of God, anime industry, quality over quantity, please.
These recommendations are of things the recommender has no prior familiarity with, so none of us can recommend Frieren but you should watch Frieren, and I can't speak to the quality of Undead Unluck as an anime because I'm not about to pay for fucking Hulu but the manga is good. Also Fen would probably say to watch SHY but she’s taken a vow of silence.
Pretty much anything not recommended or otherwise mentioned here is shit, crap, and/or ass, because "crowded season" does not mean "good season."
ACE’S RECOMMENDATION: MIGI&DALI
This is a weird show. It’s creepy, unsettling, a bit off-putting, and very, very funny. There’s a lot to unpack with this show, enough that I could write an entire essay just about the tone and setting if I were so inclined. It’s a ride.
Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange and The 100 Girlfriends who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You are also good and should be checked out. Kamonohashi Ron is fine.
CHARLIE’S RECOMMENDATION: I’m Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady a Crash Course in Naughtiness
The art and animation is a bit standard, but I think that actually works in its favor. A delightful take on a couple of popular trope characters who were, in fact, a delight to have in class.
FEN’S RECOMMENDATION: Reject Modernity & Embrace Nature
