I got a new Din fic coming! Peli is getting married to Mok Shaiz’s majordomo, (I know y’all saw that little something-something between them at the end of TBOBF.) and you Din and Grogu are all invited to their big day as well as some other familiar characters!
Anyway this idea was rolling around in my head for a while and I finally started it yesterday! I’m pretty excited about this one and wanted to share a teeny sneak peak of the reception scene. So here you go!
___
“Instead of staring at her longingly why don’t you ask her to dance?” Said Boba across the table, which was littered with party poppers and empty glasses.
“I can’t dance.” Replied Din matter of factly.
“I don’t think she cares, Mando, I’ve seen the way she looks at you. She’s turned down every male here who’s asked her to dance, she only wants you.”
Din looked from Boba and back to you, as you hold your nose and mime going under water with the Frog Lady.
He sighs heavily, knowing Boba was right, and pushes himself up from the chair to head towards you. As he does the song changes to a slower number, and he watches as Frog Lady and Peli pair off with their husbands.
You stand there alone, looking around at the different couples pairing off to dance together, and are unable to stop the pang of jealousy. You turn, deciding you better go back to the table to wait the slow dance out. But as you do, you almost walk straight into Din.
“Will you dance with me, mesh’la?” He asks, his voice only loud enough for you to hear.
The smile that lights up your face makes Din wish he asked you sooner. He places his hands on your hips as you wrap yours around his neck, and start to gently sway to the music.
Edit: You can now read the full fic here! 💕

Castaway Diva - Wrap Up Review
Tumblr media
I'm not quite sure what it was, but something about Castaway Diva felt like something of a throw back to the K-drama golden age of the early 2010s. Perhaps it was the plot(s - there were a lot of them), perhaps it was the characters (who were both deeply traumatised and wonderfully carefree), perhaps it was the way it was a simply just very fun watch (as long as you didn't think about it too hard, once you started asking questions things got a little holey).
Overall I did have a good time watching this; I liked the characters, I enjoyed their different dynamics, I even liked some of the songs, which is not normally the case for me with musical dramas but Dream Us is now on a playlist and I've looked up a few of the other songs too. The story itself was a relatively fun ride too, although it did suffer from being, for lack of a better phrase, very over stuffed. Domestic abuse, identity theft, the politics of the Korean entertainment industry, a social re-intergration plotline, a love triangle, and more all jostled for screen time and dominance and there were definitely times when it felt like were two completely different dramas going on at once, ones which just happened to be sharing sets and a cast. That feeling only grew as the drama progressed, unfortunately, along with the suspicion that, because Castaway Diva couldn't decide on what it wanted to be, both major plotlines suffered as a result.
One thing I did really enjoy the whole way through was the cast. Park Eun Bin was as stunning as always (although for the first 2 episodes it did sometimes feel like she was trying to shake off the last vestiges of Extraordinary Attorney Woo); it was great to see Chae Jong Hyeop in a lead role again; and Hakyeon impressed a lot as the second male lead with an actual heart of gold. I also really enjoyed Kim Hyo Jin as Kim Ran Joo, it was my first time seeing her in any role and she definitely left a very positive impression, so positive that I'm planning to keep an eye on what she does next.
Equally impressive as the adults were Lee Re as young Mok Ha and Moon Woo Jin as young Ki Ho, both of whom put on such compelling performances that I almost wished we could have had a drama solely dedicated to their lives on the island. Their performances and plotline were some of the highlights of the entire show for me and perhaps therein lies the main problem: the first episode was so impactful but so different from everything that came after it that my mind kept drifting back to those first 60 minutes and wanting more, wanting it so much that the fact that there wasn't more felt like a genuine loss, the loss of a very different, much darker, much more serious drama-that-could-have-been.
TLDR Stats
🎧 Music: 7.5/10 - Dream Us is on repeat and the other songs weren't skipped.
🎭 Acting: 8.5/10 - They carried the many plots and they carried them well.
📑 Story: 7.0/10 - The writers should have picked one story to focus on instead of trying to shoehorn two very different it's into one drama. The bits we got of each drama were pretty good and would only have got better if the focus was solely on them.
👩‍⚖️ Overall: 7.5/10 - I enjoyed it while I was watching it but I doubt I'll be watching it again.
🙆‍♀️ Rec for: People who are looking for a relatively light, uncomplicated watch with highly enjoyable chemistry between characters although be warned the first episode is anything but light.
🙅‍♀️ Wreck for: People who like to ask the question "why?" when watching dramas.

random thoughts about castaway diva, episode eleven
(read more because i always get carried away lol and this post might contain spoilers)
We're starting this episode with woo hak making me angry. Why are you contacting mok ha when the whole family agrees it's best to leave her out of the messy situation with mr jung? WHY???
... I take back what I just said. At least he's helping her with the press conference so I guess he's not that bad.
The whole press conference scene had me on the edge of my seat. So many conflicting feelings. Mok ha not following the script and trying to defend ran joo no matter what. Yoon ran joo just keeping her head down and accepting any accusation thrown her way. Eun mo rae seeming to side with mok ha and wanting ran joo to pursue her career so she feels better about being compared to ran joo (a desperate has-been singer who can no longer sing). All of that feels like a lot.
Talking about ran joo, it's frustrating to see her deny all of mok ha's wishes because it descredits the chunsam island singer. I understand she's trying to ease the tension but still, part of me feels like it's unfair to contradict mok ha like that. Because, in the end, mok ha will also be ridiculed for her statements.
I don't think it was a good idea for mok ha to participate in the press conference but I commend her will to defend those around her.
I'm glad the reporter let the truth out because now ran joo knows she was manipulated into signing the termination contract. I mean, she did it on her own will but had she known lee seo jun thinks of her that way, she might have thought twice before signing it. I wonder if there's a way she can nullify the contract? I feel for ran joo because she's been through a lot and there aren't many people on her side.
YES RAN JOO!!! Tell him how he would be nothing without you. He deserves it. He's trash, not you.
When I'm telling you I feel for ran joo, the fate of a tree metaphor is what I'm talking about. She's always given and hasn't taken a lot. People are taking her for granted. They milked her fame until the last drop and now she's treated like trash. I really wish there was a way to make her get her revenge. She doesn't deserve that treatment.
The scene between ran joo and her mom = saddest scene of the drama. I shed so many tears 😭😭😭 I'm relieved ran joo knows why her mom calls herself that and that they could talk to each other. This scene was beautiful 💖
MOK HA FINALLY CONFESSED HER FEELINGS TO KI HO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Dae woong (i think that's his name) woke up. I hope his story can make mr jung guilty of at least one thing (if he's innocent for the family case).
Lee uk is a good man. I keep repeating myself but I want everyone to know how amazing he is. He's ready to go to prison to defend the family. He's even saying if he could turn back time, he'd follow the mom sooner. I'm so happy the mother found someone so caring after spending years with mr jung.
I was so happy when the judge called mr jung following his family stalking.
I'm so happy the judge decided to believe the real victims instead of siding with mr jung. And dae woong could give evidence of the accident to the judge. Karma came and bit you in the a$$ mr jung!!! HAHAAHAHHHHAHAHAHA
Seo mok ha helping ran joo and her mom <3 She's one of the best people on earth. So kind and thoughtful.
YES! Ran joo wants to keep singing!!!
I'm relieved ran joo could read great articles about her to her mom. About a song that just got released (and not some old song).
So yoon ran joo sold 20 million albums a long time ago? Please make her magically appear during the shares meeting so everything is nullified 🙏🙏🙏
Justice was served for the family and yoon ran joo. I couldn't be any more grateful.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? We got a happy ending for everyone finally and you have to ruin it with mr jung st*bbing lee uk? I can't believe it.
I'm giving this episode a 9/10

Mokjin - don’t leave me
(Read on AO3)
The pain and the nausea finally subsided and when he opened his eyes the first thing he saw was the floral patterned scrubs of the nurse in front of his hospital bed.
“Hello Mr. Hwang. You are at the hospital. You had a tinnitus attack and fell. Your colleague brought you in to get you looked at. Good news is you don’t need any stitches, but you will have some swelling for the next few days. We’re really busy tonight but the doctor should be around in the next hour or so to let you know next steps,” she rattled off. He only caught snippets as he blinked up at the bright fluorescent lights.
Before he could open his mouth to speak, a warm hand was on his shoulder. Normally he’d flinch at a stranger’s touch but maybe he was still disoriented. Looking up he was almost shocked to see Han Yeo-jin peering down at him, a worried look creasing her forehead, and her eyes wide. The nurse gave them some privacy and pulled the curtain around his bed before leaving.
“I was so scared, you were in so much pain, you were screaming at the end before you fell and hit your head,” she said and he thought he heard her voice crack at the end.
“How long have I been here?” he croaked, his voice hoarse. She grabbed the small cup of water on the table and offered it to him. Si-mok raised his head slightly while she held the cup to his lips. He tried not to gulp it down but his mouth felt like it was filled with cotton.
“About two hours, maybe three? I’m not sure what time we got here but it’s been a while.”
She was sitting in the wooden chair next to his bed and as she leaned forward it creaked a little, probably from the years of supporting hundreds of people in distress. When he finished the water she looked at the empty cup in her hands and jumped up suddenly.
“I’ll get you more water, you must be so thirsty!”
“Don’t leave me,” he blurted out, surprising himself.
Yeo-jin froze. Slowly she sat back down, her eyes soft and warm, and placed her hand over his arm that was still tucked under the thin sheet.
“I promise I’ll be right back once I refill your water.”
He wasn’t sure what embarrassment felt like, but it might be this uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. It felt different than the earlier nausea. Looking away, he nodded. She disappeared between the part in the curtain and he turned to see if his phone was on the table. Relieved to see it next to him, he picked it up and checked the time. 12:46am. They’d been here for over 3 hours. The last thing he remembered was saying goodbye to her after dinner when a sharp pain pulsed through his head, practically knocking him over with the sheer speed of the onset.
“See, I came back!” she grinned as she fluttered back in through the curtain. Her face looked a bit different. Like she’d done something to brighten under eyes, or maybe her lips seemed pinker? He couldn’t put his finger on it.
She helped him sit up a bit more so he could drink without her assistance and sat back in the chair next to him.
“I can’t believe you think I’d just leave you in here after sitting here for hours waiting for you to wake up,” she scoffed. He could hear the slight sing-song tone in her voice. She was trying to lighten the mood.
He wasn’t sure what had come over him. He knew logically she’d be back, but the thought of being alone in the hospital for the umpteenth time in his life made him act out in an illogical way.
“Hey, how much battery do you have left on your phone? Mine’s almost dead” she asked, nudging his shoulder playfully.
His phone was at 63 percent. He handed her his phone without asking what she wanted to use it for and was perplexed when she pulled out a pair of wireless earbuds and handed him one.
“The latest episode of my new favourite drama just came out tonight! Wanna watch some of it until the doctor comes to discharge you?”
He had absolutely no interest in watching a show right now but found himself nodding and inserting the earbud into his ear. She dragged the chair closer to the bed and rested one elbow next to him and placed the phone on his lap in front of an extra pillow she’d stolen at some point of the night. She pressed play and leaned a little closer to him so she could see the screen better. The opening theme music was some sort of cutesy kpop song and out of the corner of his eye he watched her mouthing along and bobbing her head to the beat. For the first time in his life, Si-mok secretly wished that the doctor would take his time making his rounds.

oh great, mok guy hits on teenagers now??? why is he such a constant fucking disappointment??? you would think Actual Literal Rock God Mok Swagger could do better.
I can dig the Receipts™ out if necessary, but the short of it is that Mok Guy will often swooce into the DMs of people who follow him, if they’re particularly personable towards him. He opens up really fast (which I know from experience) and will either tell you really personal and oft uncomfortable facts about his life, or put the moves on you. A couple people who he tried the latter with had to be like “Dude, I’m 16″ to which he, a 20 year old, gives them hell for following his account. Plus, during a conversation about R&R-related dreams, I told him about an awful dream I had in like 2016 about a “lost” Mok song that was about being a predator, and Mok Guy verbatim goes, “mmm~”. Needless to say, that was not the reaction I expected
I wish I could go into my brain and delete every Mok headcanon that Mok Guy told me about. Movie!Mok is incredible, bizarre, and graceful in his lunacy, while Mok Guy’s Mok is a RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant who fucks to survive
