Questions Often Left Unanswered: Mun Edition [Accepting]

1. Are there any characters in your fandom or faceclaims you refuse to RP with? Who and why?

// My rules has a section showing the fandoms/communities I don’t want to interact or rp with! Here’s a reminder to it:

MLP, Homestuck, Undertale, Fnaf, League of Legends (Arcane won’t get a pass), Genshin Impact, Fnf, Disney and MCU (I’m debating on whether or not, I’ll give the comics a pass tho...)

Star wars stuff in specific. I’m intimidated and iffy about Legends characters, simply because I’m still not 100% knowledgeable about it (I’m learning more and more about it). Kotor/jedi fallen order/any of the SW games... I’m also not well versed in them, so I’ll also be hesitant to interact with them. With all of these things said, here are my straight ‘no’s. Unless I’m well acquaintanced with the mun behind the muse, I’ll not write with any of the sequels era characters (As stated in my muses directory. Although I’ve watched the trilogy, I’m not entirely familiar with it, which contributes to my overall lack of interest in interacting with it). Then there are the Starcruiser hotel, and the theme park attractions which are at the very bottom of everything thus getting the biggest no (I don’t think I have to talk about how the vibes between those things, don’t fall in line with anything else within the SW universe, right? Nah man, y’all can keep and try to excuse the +6k dollar LARP mess [which I heard that Disney is looking to double the prices so Y I K E S])

And as I’m writing this: I also won’t RP with Andor muses, until the serie is over.

2. Are there any plot tropes you are sick of/refuse to RP? If so, what are they and why?

// I’m not a fan of those fix-it AUs. No matter what it may be about. ‘No order 66 palpie chokes on a croissant & the galaxy is all fine & dandy uwu AU’, ‘clones are just one big family & jango is their dad uwu AU’. I understand the desire for those types of plots for fanarts and fanfics, but when it comes RP? Killing off the tragedy in SW is the equivalent of, burning down SW’s very essence. Also I’ve noticed that with these plots, they always end up watering down so many things about SW. The name of the series is literally Star wars, the war IS meant to be ugly, I don’t think anyone should sugarcoat that.

6. Is there a character that the rest of your fandom adores that you just don’t like/are indifferent to? Who is the character and why?

// I think that the Kenobi series hype is long dead by now, SO I can finally say this, without sb coming out of the woodworks to crucify me for it. Reva was mediocre at best (the actress put on her best, it is just that the script she was handed to was bad. The odds were against her.). She most certainly wasn’t the worst thing that came out of the show, see young Leia (wtf did they do to thIS KID?) and Tala (who? I literally forgot about her 5 secs after her death).

I just wished that Lucas arts hadn’t wasted their time with fan-baiting, hate-baiting its audience, all while using Ingram as a meat-shield for every single criticism towards the show. And instead taken their time to properly iron out this character. BC as she currently stands? It’s bad... That pitiful attempt at a redemption? Yeah, it could use some MUCH needed work, instead of just slapping it on her then calling it a day. But I’ll take what we got, over whatever the drafted one had in it (Cody’s legacy is safe... For now...).

12. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to the fandom you RP in?

// What’s up with all the weird anons me and many of my mutuals have been getting? I’ve never had to deal with anything like it, in all of my RPing years. What’s up with people not knowing how to use the block function, and blacklisting feature?

I’ve received multiple anons, whining about the fact I write cloneshipping. Or even having meltdowns over some of my HCs. I want to believe this is the result of how the search function on tumblr now operates, so it searches with anything that contains the searched words, instead of the tags. So, I’m chalking it up to being just strangers, finding my blog unaware of what this blog is about. But at the same time, there is a part of me that thinks I’ve received hate from actual RPers over that. BC god forbid, blocking sb and moving on with their day, is just too simple.

There is never a bad reason to not block someone. Even if it may sound silly in your mind, just block/filter out whatever is bugging you. It’s a whole lot better than hate-reading, or exposing yourself to shit you know that causes you discomfort.

If i may ask, why do you despise the bowling ball so much? All it does in the pilot from what I've seen is make funny sounds and be lovingly touched

quick note: this could contain possible spoilers for the pilot- I’m trying to keep it as spoiler free if I can but if you’re avoiding spoilers either look away or read with caution (also I talk very negatively in this so ps: I’m not mad at you!! I just needed to rant on these things cuz I don’t necessarily have positive thoughts on the bowling ball as you can tell heh- also I do give bread mentions of suggestive stuff and a dark (and gross) mlp fanfic (c*pcak3s- ugh i hate that fanfic so so much-) and these mentions don’t say anything too in detail related to what happens in said topic but I just wanted to warn y’all)

Okok so it’s kinda hard to explain but it’s mostly just the fact there is some really suggestive scenes involving the bowling ball in the pilot which make me uh- VERY uncomfortable (I don’t like suggestive stuff at all and all it really does is make me feel icky and I hate it-) so the fact that the ball is only associated with being Ducks uh… interest well put it as makes me uncomfy- plus to add on to Duck they are my comfort character and this is a bit petty of me but characters I feel close to I take a lot more seriously than others and I hold them closer to me so when I see duck and that ball being associated with that I already get super icky and idk- it’s a really hard feeling to explain like an example of this feeling that’s a bit better to explain is how I was when Pinkie Pie got so closely associated with that one fic who’s name shall not be spoken in this household (I’ll just replace its name with 🧁 when I bring it up) basically in this fic pinkie is a very very bad character and does some horrible HORRIBLE things to Rainbow Dash and as it was I didn’t like it cuz that’s not my pinkie! She isn’t like that!! And then there was one episode of the show that came out where pinkie got super insecure abt Rainbow not eating her pies and I remember I watched a scene from said episode where pinkie just snaps and I remember I loved that scene cuz it showed a whole new side to her but I looked in the comments when people CONSTANTLY made references to 🧁 almost acting like it was canon which really really messed with my brain- now each time someone hears the name Pinkamena all they think of is 🧁 and this other horrific animation (Smile HD- DO NOT LOOK IT UP PLEASE-) so pinkie having all those gross traits placed on her made me uncomfy and very insecure in an odd way and caused me to hate most of the dark fanfics and art of her (cuz I just knew they would make her the villain which makes me, a person who holds her dearly to my heart, very very upset) and that’s how it is with this bowling ball cuz they are already associated with those scenes and I just genuinely want to avoid thinking of that stuff especially in regards to thinking of Duck who gives me comfort- the topic in itself is something I hate thinking about and i just hate having that topic being tied to my comfort character hence why i try erasing the thing associated with said topic out of my brain- I hope that makes sense- it’s just the bowling ball is associated with gross stuff, they then start to imprint said gross stuff into a comfort character (which immediately puts me in a protective mode) And overall the topics they are associated with make me uncomfortable- maybe if we got actual info as to what they were like as a character I’d have a bit more tolerance but all I know is they are related to suggestive stuff including my comfort character which just thinking of the scene(s) itself makes me feel gross- <:/

OH KAY SO THATS MY MAIN RANT- (also note: I wrote that before I wrote all this so sorry but more ranting! ^^”) also before y’all say I’m being too protective over a character please just understand Duck is a character I hold very very close to my heart (they helped me find out a lot of stuff and helped me get through some things too) so- seeing them associated with this stuff makes me feel gross and yes I know this stuff is natural but it’s a personal thing that makes me get uncomfortable right away and I don’t want to think of those thoughts when looking at my favorite character- my hate for the bowling ball is moreso jsut a hate for the scenes it’s associated with, I can’t control it, especially when they are the only scenes I know of that are related to this character- again, maybe if they had more to their character I would be more tolerant towards them but as if rn we don’t have that- all I know about them are through those scenes and those scenes make me uncomfortable so the bowling ball makes me uncomfortable and idk- the bowling ball just leaves a really really icky taste in my mouth- I can’t explain the exact reasons why so this was my attempt at doing so- and I love that you see the bowling ball in a positive light! I just don’t feel the same way, I have the habit of seeing bad in things especially when they are topics I dislike, like bugs- (warning I go into detail about what I see in butterfly anatomy) butterflies for example! Others think their wings are beautiful and elegant, they are cute and have a sweet meaning but all I see is whats in the middle of those wings- a long bug with a stretchy tounge, multiple tiny legs, really freaky eyes, it can follow me since it has flight and can land almost anywhere- and if that thing gets near me I will run a whole mile just to get safe from the mostly harmless bug- that’s how I see this scene and character- all I see is the icky stuff I hate in that scene and there isn’t much to drive me away from these thoughts- it’s not something I can control- but, again, I’m glad you see the bowling ball positively! These are just my thoughts, also ps don’t take this whole rant the wrong way I actually needed to let off this steam- but I mean no rude or mean intent towards you! I just wanted to attempt explaining why i have a dislike towards this ball, it’s all just based on my thoughts and how I perceive certain things yknow? like the butterfly example is how I see this bowling ball- it hard for me to break out of this- But I hope this explains my reasoning also I typed all this whilst being super sleepy so my brain isn’t all here lol so if I sucked at words today I’m sorry- but, again, I hope this explains that and I have no mean intent behind this directed towards you and I apologize if I came off that way at any point in this 💚 (also using a green heart cuz i like green :) )

(also side note: I hope this also tells y’all not to bring up the bowling ball or these topics to me because I will likely not react in a positive way and it’s never directed towards yall- just towards the characters and topics it-selves. Please be weary of that and do refrain from mentioning either the bowling ball and/or these topics because they make me feel icky- I hope you understand and please understand where I’m coming from with all of this!!)

Hey everyone sorry I haven’t been drawing much for the past couple of days

For one I’ve been very stressed and anxious about school and knowing I start online school in a couple of days and I’m in 8th grade so it’s a lot more work

But I’ve been watching MLP cuz it’s been keeping me very calm and less anxious from school

I made a pony sona cuz I have been practicing ponies and the characters as well

Maybe I’ll post em maybe not

Ik it’s a bit childish of me but MLP has really been a great comfort too me

Don’t know how much art I’ll be able to do when I got into school but I’ll try

If I may be so bold as to ask, what’s your opinion on ‘cringe culture’? Was talking about it with a friend and was curious to get your take if that’s alright! ~ Prince

Sorry I haven’t answered until now, Prince! I wanted to think how to answer this!

I won’t lie to you— a couple years ago, I loved cringe compilations a LOT! I never watched L*afy*sh*e*e bc that, even back then, was too far for me. I usually didn’t like those that had commentary. I mainly focused on weird/fringe fandom and fandom stuff I didn’t like as well as art

(Like those people who drew and shipped the very much real people from Hamilton... y’all... wtf you doing....)

To me, I kinda liked it bc it made me feel a bit better about the weird and cringy shit I use to do/make in the not so distant past if I’m being honest! That being said, I wasn’t an angel and tho I never went and talked to or hunt down anyone in a video or their page, I do feel I contributed to a toxic culture and for that, all I can do is make sure those around me feel safe to pursue what they wish and encourage others to let people be all the same.

“Cringe culture” isn’t exactly the easiest thing to talk about mainly because there are layers

Like are we talking 10 year olds on D.A? Or making animation memes? Are we discussing those weirdos who have weird fetishes like the Wonderbread Guy?

Are we discussing normal bronies or the stuff like the “Ponyn Cum Jar Experiment?”

Are we talkin people shipping CanonXOc or people who ship others in real life?

In any group you find of fans, you’re going to find people who simply have no self-awareness and do weird shit because humans love doing and saying weird shit. That’s just how it be, if we’re honest.

When it comes to (most) creative endeavors, esp with younger artists, I think people should in GENERAL leave them alone. This esp includes adults who go around DA and randomly “”””critique”””” characters and I use that word lightly since it’s very rarely real and sustainable critique.

When it comes to general fandom wank and other weird stuff, I think kinda the same thing. As long as you aren’t hurting anyone, go nuts. Do what you want. HOWEVER, if it’s something like... genuinely strange. Like shipping the dead founding fathers together or the weird side to MLP we all know about, I think you need to have some self realization ‘cause other people are allowed to say they don’t like your behavior and find it gross! Other people can have an opinion on you and the weird stuff you do! That’s just how it works!

Have I written and done and said cringy things? Oh fuck yeah I have, but I am also aware when I put it on the internet it stays here, and I now know to be more careful of things like that if I don’t want other people to possibly tell me their opinion or speak out about it. I wasn’t careful in the past, but I suppose that makes those times a learning experience above all else.

Now, that’s kinda the more tame stuff of cringe culture. Mainly pointing and saying “this is fucking weird” to weird stuff online. That’s kinda the stuff I use to consume back when I did participate in cringe culture. The darker side of cringe culture and what people really tackle more than anything is the belittling of people who may have mental health issues or be impaired online and attacking them. Or, attacking young kids who don’t know better and who clearly don’t have parents who are keeping a close enough eye on them.

One, the two groups listed above are usually innocent, are minding their own business about things, and in general sometimes don’t understand what they did to warrant others to attack them. It’s also really rude and oftentimes is ableist or ageist to do so. In general, you shouldn’t attack anyone online like a feral dog full stop. Ever. But those two groups are those most suspectible and the worst part of cringe culture is that it’s oftentimes done without others being aware and can’t say anything for themselves. To me, that’s insidious.

I’m not entirely sure how the internet shifted, but it did and probably for the better. I think Cringe Culture will always exist, both the lighter and more spectacle side of things as well as the side which goes out and actively attacks and hurts others. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the way the world is.

At any rate, cringe culture is def something less becoming of people now than in the past (on some sites...) and with more people speaking out against it, I do hope we can prevent this sort of “pointing and laughing and poking” in the future and better protect those vulnerable online.

When it comes to shipping, am I the only person that’s like a die-hard fan for a ship yet my mind is not screaming that it needs to be canon? Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for people wanting to see their two favorite fictional characters together as a couple; but then again I’m down with whether or not a creator/developer of a film, show, video game, book, etc. can confirm that a couple is canon. Though even if I can find that adorable, let me stick with any other aspects that I want to see in various outlets aside from romance. Or what I find better, for a fictional character I still want to think about portraying them as the way they’re originally portrayed. Sure that I understand that there are AU’s or any form of alternative just so we can make up anything about our precious OTP. Even though I’m all for anyone doing AU’s, sometimes I can’t help but to think that it would corrupt my head; but I’d like to do an AU one day! I’m usually a shipper that doesn’t think that my favorite pairings are the “oh-so perfect OTP and they need to be together forever”, because even for having a ship I do have other shippings that would involve the same character! So, this would probably be the longest text post I’ve ever wrote but at the same time a lot needs to be put down. And with some of the pairings that I will mention, maybe you would be familiar, maybe I’ll not mention your favorite OTP, but do take my conception in consideration!

So my first ship that I’m going to begin with talking about will be Moana x Ariel (or MoAriel). Do I ship them a lot? Well, I’m more in between with they could be great gfs or just best friends, but the way I see it is that they make great ocean buddies! So I cannot deny they’re cute! Do I want them to be canon? No, and here’s where I say that even if MoAriel is cute I still want my mind to be on the right path where I want to portray Moana and Ariel as the way they were originally portrayed in Moana and The Little Mermaid. For Ariel, I still need to keep in mind that she has Eric and Melody (idfc if I’m mentioning the shit sequel, it was one of my favorite direct-to sequels growing up k bye). I also like seeing Ariel and Eric together! Now with Moana, I just think she’s too good for a man and I’m not even headcanoning that she’s lesbian either. While we’re in the topic with the Disney Princesses as all of the news is spilling for Ralph Breaks The Internet, and as an avid LGBT supporter myself, it’s times that I couldn’t take a few people seriously to where they say that Merida, Elsa, Mulan, and many others are lesbian or bi. NOW DON’T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY! I’m all for seeing anything LGBT-related in animation, but sometimes I get a bit iffy on that issue with what will kids think of when they see it. I mean I understand that some people would say that it would mess the kids’ minds up. All I can think for now is that if I were to have kids, I would probably teach them about gay marriage not at a young age but maybe when they get older. I guess I’m that one LGBT supporter who can’t stand some of the SJWs… but hey, if people want to headcanon that they’re gay, well they can do them. I won’t stop them for that. Like for Merida, I’d still think she’s better off without a man but I won’t headcanon about her sexuality. For Elsa, like I get that people want her to be lesbian for the Frozen sequel, but I’d prefer wanting to know about the premise of the sequel more. And with Mulan, okay I get it that her outfit is dope and I’m all for her modern outfit. But I can’t have the mindset screaming “OMFG MULAN’S BI!” I believe that she’s a strong female warrior, and even I can’t help to think that she and Shang are great together! Okay now to get back and wrap up with MoAriel, I will say huge kudos for the shippers for making that happen. Like I can’t deny that it’s an amazing crossover between the land and the sea.

Alright, so another ship I’d like to talk about, and another same-sex ship, will be TwiDash (Twilight Sparkle x Rainbow Dash from MLP:FiM). Oh hey look, Imma throwback to one of my all-time favorite OTPs especially I happen to watch some of the old episodes again! Now let’s get to those 2 questions again: do I ship them a lot? I pretty much do, especially the fact that they happen to be my favorite ponies out of the Mane 6! Do I want them to be canon? No, and it’s not because that I think they should end up with stallions instead (and apparently, I don’t want to have those pairings be canon either!). Obviously RD is one of Twilight’s best friends, so I’d rather stick with whatever chemistry they have for each other! So because I have to bring up the fact that I also have pairings of Twilight and Rainbow with stallions, here’s what I need to say about that: Of course having TwiDash as one of my MLP OTPs, I happen to like SoarinDash and FlashLight (that’s Flash Sentry x Twilight Sparkle just to clarify in case if anyone gets mistaken for literally a flashlight; and yes, I like Flash try me bitch). And as a same-sex shipper, I’m not one for giving another character shit for getting in the way of the same-sex couples that I like. So as a TwiDash fan, I really don’t give flak on Flash if he were to get in the way (and Soarin’ too, I guess). Not even to mention that not only that I’ve had it with the Flash hate, it frustrates me to see some bronies/pegasisters making attack/kill art of him (I do have a vivid memory of seeing an art piece of Flash getting attacked by Trixie just bc the artist likes Twixie.). I mean I get that Flash doesn’t have that much character development (human or pony; in fact I’m more of a pony Flash x pony Twi shipper) aside from appearing near Twilight or Sunset Shimmer to where a lot of people scream “gary-stu” or “waifu stealer”, but I will say that I think Flash deserves better. Now I know saying this as a FlashLight shipper in where they don’t really interact with each other that much, I really couldn’t help myself thinking how cute they are together though. But then again, there’s more to MLP:FiM than just shippings! So to get back and wrap up with TwiDash, sure there’s nothing wrong with having other shippings with one of the same characters! Though at the same time, and just like I mentioned from my previous statement with MoAriel, I’m not headcanoning Twilight or Rainbow’s sexualities at all. So I’ll just let my imagination flow to wherever the hell it wants!

Okay let’s get into another of my favorite ship, and this time it’s a hetero ship, ShadAmy! Yay, time for another throwback to one of my favorite Sonic ships! Though I will get into a later topic that’s kinda like the topic with me as a TwiDash fan and not giving Flash a lot of shit for being in the way. So onto the same two questions: do I ship them a lot? I think shipping Shadow and Amy together was sudden, bc I was a huge SonAmy fan back then (and I still do ship SonAmy don’t worry) and wasn’t really fond with Shadow until to this day. I guess after seeing fan art of ShadAmy, it led me to start shipping them. Do I want them to be canon? Probably not, and it’s not that I think that Amy should be with Sonic (and as an SonAmy fan, I could care less whether or not it’s canon, and if anyone screams at me that it is canon and I can’t change anything about it, leave.); and I don’t think that Shadow and Amy have a huge chemistry with each other (even if they only interacted with each other twice in Sonic Adventure 2). Now here’s the part in where I say that as a ShadAmy fan, I’m not one for giving shit on Sonic or have to make him the bad guy just bc he keeps running away from Amy. And even if I’m more into Shadow than Sonic (I promise y’all I’m not like one of those Shadow fangirls…), that doesn’t mean I won’t stop loving Sonic! And playing the games of that blue blur will always hold a special place in my heart! So what conclusion do I have for ShadAmy? Nothing probably. But no matter what I’m okay with whoever I want to ship with Amy. ShadAmy? SonAmy? I really don’t care!

Now since the pairings that I’ve mentioned so far happen to be my favorite OTPs, let’s take this next topic with talking about a NOTP. And who will I be talking about next? Enter Victor x Emily from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride. As much as I enjoyed this masterpiece of a Tim Burton film, apparently having to think about this does grind my gears. So onto the questions again: do I ship them a lot? I’ve already stated that they’re not my cup of tea. Do I want them to be canon- okay um yeah let’s get right into that! I guess ever since I first saw the film back then, when I saw the ending scene with Emily turning into butterflies and then Victor and Victoria embraced my mind screamed, “welp, at least Victor and Victoria have each other now”. But at the same time it did sadden me to see Emily go away like that, yet then again Victor has freed her from the memories of pain and shit she’d been through with Barkis. So where am I going with this? Oh yes y’all, I actually like Victor x Victoria. And no, it’s not that I think Victor x Emily is necrophiliac. Pretty much, I’ve had it with everyone talking shit about Victoria all bc she was in the way between Victor and Emily. Tbh I could go on and on talking about defending Victoria, but to keep it a bit short it wasn’t her fault for interrupting the wedding; in fact, that can be saved for a later time. Now before I wrap up, and as I mentioned since the beginning, I’m all for alternatives or “what-ifs” made by Victor x Emily fans but at the same time we gotta accept the fact that the ending of Corpse Bride is just the way it is. Get used to it. Emily had her own happy ending.

Alrighty then, I’ll be taking this last topic discussing about WildeHopps just before I wrap this whole post up! Ah yes, our favorite fox-bunny duo; yet I do have some tweaks with what I think about them for the near future.. But anyway, let’s get into the questions one last time: do I ship them a lot? Now for anyone that have followed me for my Zootopia shenanigans, I do need to say that it seemed sudden of me shipping them out of nowhere. Like sure I can’t deny that Nick and Judy have a great chemistry, but there’s more to the film than just the shipping (or any romance outlet for that matter). I guess I should say that after seeing the film and looking at the fan art of the two, it led me to start shipping them! Do I want them to be canon? Okay see, this is where I get iffy about it bc even if Disney confirmed that they’re canon (or at least that’s what I heard) I still think that Nick and Judy need to start off as best friends first and then we shall see what will happen in the future if there were to be a sequel. So yeah, I think I’m that one person who had to cool off from seeing the ending bc yeah it’s cute but I don’t think I’ll be falling for it sorry! Friends? Couple? Again, these two have chemistry and that’s all that matters to me! So for now, I’m in both platonic and romantic sides of their relationship. And even though having this thought never occurring in my head, I don’t want to think about giving in for them to have their own mate by the same species. But hey, if y’all want to ship Nick with a vixen and Judy with another rabbit I ain’t stopping ya! Which would somewhat lead me to talking about how Judy would be shipped with Jack Savage (quick fyi for those who don’t know him, he’s a deleted character that was the main protagonist of the early version of the film); while I may not be into SavageHopps that much (and this is pretty much the same thing with my TwiDash and ShadAmy topics..), but damn some of y’all are salty on him for trying to “steal” Judy from Nick. If people want to like Jack, let them. If people want to ship SavageHopps, let them! I mean hey, he’s got Skye (who’s another deleted character during the early process) and I’m all for SavageSkye y’all! Okay, yeah I know I brought them out of nowhere as this topic is supposed to be about Nick and Judy but at the same time I kinda had to bring that out there haha. Like I said we shall see where will their future will take them, and we can have our imaginations flow wherever the hell they go!

Steampunk MLP AU

Very, very, very loosely based on @earthsong9405‘s original germ of an idea at this point. They’ve gone in a completely different direction than I chose to, but that’s awesome. I highly recommend checking out their Steampunk/Bioshock/Fallout AU and see if it’s your cup of tea.

Me? I have my own muse to fiddle with for now, so here’s something I cooked up between moments of busy life.

When they finally landed, it was at the Golden Oaks Library. Twilight couldn’t help it. Any time she panicked, she felt better around books and Rarity. And as Rarity was with her, she zoomed in on the safest books she knew.

“Well,” Rarity said, amused. “I don’t think they’ll think to look for us here.” She stepped out of Twilight’s embrace to walk the library’s space. She trailed a finger along the spines around her, leaving a track of cleanliness in the dust.

Twilight hunkered down, letting her reserves recharge. She’d pushed herself, and she wanted to be ready in case any one saw them come here.

“Good spot,” Applejack agreed, peeking out a curtain. “We got a good view of the place. Any hidey holes I need to worry about?”

Twilight shook her head. “It’s secure. I...” A memory floated up. One from... Before. Someone promising her this would be a sanctuary. A true one. “I’ve confirmed it.”

“Must have been before me,” Rarity said. She took stock of the thick pile of dust on her fingertip and wiped it on a nearby table. “Very before me.”

“Only air-capable Guardians can access it,” Twilight said, whether to reassure herself or Rarity, she wasn’t sure.

She turned her view on Applejack, who had finally realized how much blood was on her, and set about trying to wipe some of it off.

“Here, darling, allow me,” Rarity said. She extended her hand, and Applejack’s coat, pants, and the bit of her shirt that had been messed glowed with a sparkling blue light.

Applejack’s eyes widened as the blood sucked off of the fabric and splattered on the floor, like dust. With a flick of her hand, Rarity shooed it out under a door.

“Land sakes...” Applejack breathed. “How’d y’all do that?”

“My gift,” Rarity said, with a casual shoulder shrug. “And why Twilight is my Guardian, and why I’m... air bound. As it were.”

“This ain’t something regular you sky folk do, huh?”

Rarity smiled at the “sky folk” name. “No. I am the only mare I know of who can do it. The scientists who’ve experimented on me, used much loftier terms, but even a foal can tell.” Her horn lit and sparkles dripped off her fingers. “It’s magic.”

“Don’t gotta convince me. Thanks for the dry-cleaning service,” Applejack said, tipping her hat.

“It’s the least I could do, as I have quite a few questions,” Rarity said, pulling out her kerchief and dusting off a nearby chair before sitting down. “As does Twilight, but... I know she’s a bit reticent around new ponies.”

Applejack glanced at Twilight who hunkered her 13 foot frame down. “She’s reticent,” Applejack said flatly.

“Don’t let her size fool you,” Rarity said, patting Twilight’s massive, purple-silver arm. “When her guarding mindset hasn’t been triggered...” she gestured to a box attached to a corner of Twilight’s massive back that hooked into her head, “she’s quite chatty and intelligent.”

“Alright,” Applejack said, hooking her thumbs in her suspenders. “How do we get her out of...” She waved at the back of her own head.

“When she’s certain I’m safe,” Rarity said, crossing her legs and showing off her immaculately clean boot from beneath her purple skirt.

“She ain’t yet?”

“She doesn’t trust you.”

Applejack sighed and looked up at Twilight. “Okay then. Well, Twi. What do I gotta do to get on your good side?”

Twilight stared at Applejack for a long time. Applejack glanced at Rarity. “Did I say something?”

“I think you confused her,” Rarity said, with an amused smirk.

“You... want my trust,” Twilight said.

“Well, yeah. If I’m gettin’ ya back to yer folks- gonna need it,” Applejack said, crossing her broad arms.

Twilight twitched.

Rarity put a hand on her. “It’s okay, Twilight dear,” she said, soothingly.

“It’s... my parents? I don’t understand,” Twilight said, voice tight. She shook her head. “Please, disarm. I want to- I need to talk about this. But your weapon. It’s a threat to Rarity.”

“How about this?” Applejack said. She slowly undid the revolver from her belt and emptied the bullets on the floor. She snapped the cylinder back in place and reholstered, snapping it back on. She raised her hands. “I’m fast, but I’d wager y’all are faster. Fair compromise?”

The fluids that had been clouding Twilight’s vision ebbed, the sense of threat fell away, and her head felt clearer. More close to baseline.

“Thank... you,” Twilight said, the words heavy. She wasn’t used to talking with other ponies like this. It was either Stay Away, or Yes, Master Scientist. She only really held conversations like this with Rarity. And this Applejack was as far from Rarity as Rarity was from Twilight, even if she wasn’t augmented like Twilight was.

Now that she wasn’t reading Applejack as a total threat status, she could really take her in- big, clearly earth pony by the way she carried herself, with orange fur, blond mane and green eyes. There was a scar across her muzzle and another near her eye, but they didn’t seem to bother her in any way. She dressed- well, like a gunslinger from a book. Long, brown coat, heavy pants, well-traveled boots, and a thick hide-like vest over her white shirt. The brown hat just completed the look, though Twilight couldn’t determine the tactical value in it.

She focused on the hat. It made her wish this Applejack pony were nude, just so she could read her as less of a threat.

It was easy to regard Rarity as a non threat. Pristine white coat, immaculate mane, cream blouse pressed to perfection, same for her long, purple skirt, and her boots just showed off the shine of her hooves that much better. If Twilight weren’t already charged with guarding her, the only way she could pique Twilight’s defensive measures is if she used her magic in a direct way. And that only happened if there was a tear in a curtain, or if she were working on a new outfit.

“Like what you see?” Applejack said, breaking into Twilight’s very clinical assessment of Rarity’s threat level. “You’re lookin’ long enough.”

“Sorry,” Twilight said, shifting her weight nervously. “I’m... unaccustomed to the company of others.”

“I can tell,” Applejack replied. “So, y’all got questions. Shoot.”

Twilight was unsure of what to do. Questions about her parents? She didn’t even know where to start. And while she trusted their location, she didn’t trust it forever. Trouble would come eventually.

With that in mind, Twilight stomped forward, presenting herself at her fullest height. Focusing on Applejack, she remember her prime directive. “What are your intentions with Rarity?” she boomed.

“None,” Applejack said. She started absentmindedly patting down her coat.

Twilight paused. Okay. Now to be certain.

“You’re not lying?” she said, looming directly over the possible threat. “You mean her no harm.”

“I mean her precisely nothing,” Applejack said, slowly. As if talking to a child. She tilted her head at Rarity. “No offense, ma’am.”

“None taken,” Rarity replied, inclining her head in return.

Facing Twilight, Applejack stopped rummaging in her coat.

Twilight tensed. This was it-!

Then, she felt like a hot idiot when Applejack produced a toothpick. “I’m here for you, sugarcube,” she said, popping the little thing in her mouth.

Twilight was stuck again. None of her protocols covered asking about... herself. Especially not to a stranger. So, she just loomed over Applejack. Who chewed on the toothpick in response, and looked completely unflapped by her presence.

Which was new. Usually, Twilight made other ponies very, very nervous. To the point that they’d attack or run out of the room. The only ponies who were this at ease with her were Rarity and Mother. And even Mother didn’t give her this indifferent patience.

It made Twilight feel... Awkward. Profoundly awkward.

“Twilight dear,” Rarity said. “Stand down, please.”

Twilight sat obediently. Her head was spinning. She hated this confusion. She wanted things to make sense. So, she faced Rarity and hoped she would make sense of it.

“Sorry,” Rarity said, approaching Applejack. “I thought she’d be okay, but I believe you’ve really sent her into a tizzy.” Stopping at arms length, she cocked her head curiously. “Her parents are truly looking for her?”

Applejack nodded. “Eeyup. Twilight Velvet and Night Light. Pair of unicorns from Ponyville, land side. Nice folk. Night Light helps my brother with any glass work we need on the farm.”

Twilight blinked. Rarity blanched. “On... the farm?” she said, voice strained.

Applejack grinned and nodded some more. “Yup, the farm. My family grows all kinds of things, really, but our specialty? Apples.”

“Apples?” Rarity asked, confused and curious.

“Yeah. Apple? Red thing. Tastes like heaven?” Applejack prompted.

“No, I know what you mean,” Rarity said, waving her hands. “What I mean is- it’s a wasteland down there. How can you grow anything?”

“Same way we always do,” Applejack said. “Hard work and patience.” She squinted at Rarity. “And watch what you’re callin’ a wasteland. That’s my home, y’hear?”

“My apologies,” Rarity said, eyes darting back and forth.

“Look, can we wrap this up?” Applejack said. She leaned back to the window and peeked through the curtains again. “I know you said this place was tight, but I’d feel better if we kept movin’.”

“Do you have a picture of them?” Rarity asked.

“Huh?”

“A picture. Of Twilight’s parents.”

“Oh. Yeah, yeah. Uh...” Again, she patted herself down. Again, Twilight started getting ready for violence. And, again, felt embarrassed when only a picture was produced.

Applejack handed the little photo to Rarity, who stared at it. Eventually, she smiled. It was a small, private thing, that Twilight had only caught in rare moments. Sometimes when Rarity was looking just to the left of Twilight’s head.

Twilight, curious, stepped forward and looked over her shoulder. Rarity smiled a little wider and raised the picture up to Twilight’s viewing screens.

They were unicorns. With similar coat colors as Twilight’s. And...

“-next, mom?”

“Oh, I haven’t gotten that far yet,” her mom said.

“You haven’t?! Mooooom! I have to know how the story ends!”

“Well, you will have to wait till tomorrow, Twilight.” The mare, so much larger than her picture indicated, bent over Twilight and transferred her warmth by pressing lips to Twilight’s cheek. It was magic to Twilight. “But, I promise. I’ll finish the story.”

“You better!” Twilight said, settling down in her sheets.

“Okay, lights out or not?”

“Mmmm. I have Smartypants!” Twilight held up her prized doll. “She explained that my imagination was getting away from me, and I shouldn’t be afraid of the dark any more.”

“Sounds like she’s as smart as you,” her mom said, with a fond smile.

“She is! You should kiss her, too!”

Her mom did, then went to the door. “Good night, Twilight.”

“Night mom,” Twilight whispered.

“Twilight are you alright?”

Rarity was looking up at her. Twilight had a hand to her cheek. She jerked it away.

“Kinda checked out there, sug,” Applejack said.

“I- I don’t...” Twilight stared at the picture.

Then, her proximity alarm went off.

So, @melodydrake and I were basically watching MLP together. Enjoy y’all.

Oreasa: Okay, weren't you the one who was telling me about the connection to the girls' stories and possibly StarSwirl? Oreasa: Tia! You mean you NEVER looked for him?? Melody Drake: I did and she was super young, give her a break Oreasa: Twi, how are you containing your fangirl? Oreasa: Omg, she was blocked by penmanship! Melody Drake: All the geniuses have that problem lol Oreasa: That's fair. It was just a beautiful touch Melody Drake: *nods* Oreasa: I'm concerned the Mane 6 are going to do everything and everyone else is just along for the ride. Melody Drake: Well....Starlight does. Sunburst, unfortunately, is as much of a fan as Twi, with less than half the magic Oreasa: Dragons!!! Melody Drake: Fuckin Garble Oreasa: Do it, Spike! Melody Drake: I love that bit Oreasa: It was nice Melody Drake: RD got to outsmart someone for once Oreasa: I'm not to that yet Oreasa: In the middle of it. Melody Drake: Heh Oreasa: Wow, Pinkie. You are a goddamn Princess. ACT. LIKE. IT. Oreasa: Really, I'm feeling like Starswirl is the bigger antagonist than Shadow Oreasa: REMEMBER NITEMARE MOOON, TWI!!! Melody Drake: I don't think she really gets that the PoS is a REAL pony. Oreasa: She does now. Oreasa: Yes! Forcibly drag his ass out!! Oreasa: Wait? Is he figuring shit out??? Melody Drake: Yup Oreasa: I love you, Star. Melody Drake: I knew you would Oreasa: Omg, Twi is going to explode. Oreasa: Thank you, DVR for not cutting off the last minute.
