I really thought Paulina and Leontes were going to get married at the end of The Winter's Tale
#is this a hot take? i kind of didn't expect it as much as i thought the way their arcs were moving it would be fitting and logical#tales from diana#text post#shakespeare#the winter's tale#i was kind of disappointed w perdita. i thought her story was really cool but her character got not much to do or say of her own.#meanwhile i think paulina may just be my new fave shakespeare heroine. what a FUCKING BADASS that lady.#i mean marry camillo that's fine that works#hermione came back to life good for her#i was somewhat wondering if smth like that was going to happen since it's a romance not a tragedy#and they were killing off a lottttt of characters early on for it not to still feel tragic by the end#altho r.i.p. mamillius my poor son#but the part of me that didn't think leontes and hermione would be reunited in the end was hoping that leontes would marry paulina#since she was the only one brave enough to CALL HIS SHIT the entire time. truly as i said a badass.#and she stuck beside him in those 15 years of painstaking repentance#even as her husband was also dead.#i thought it would've made for a good earthly story that the widower king marries the brave and bold widowed lady#especially since she'd been keeping him in line all those years. ah oh well.
