Twins - Ep 7

I tried to write some sensible commentary on this episode, but no sensible words come to mind 🤡

I love this series, I love how chaotic it is, how for 6 episodes nothing happens in terms of romance, but there are random, sudden scenes of the second couple making out hotly - a couple which is barely shown and if you don't watch carefully, you can even miss them. And how the main couple catches up with all the previous episodes in terms of their romance in one episode 😀😂👌

MY EVERLASITNG LOVE IS SPRITE, MY BELOVED PRECIOUS BOY, THE BEST HIMBO BOY THAT HAS EVER HIMBED. Sprite has no filter, he is very dumb, but at the same time he has the surprising wisdom of the ancient gods. He doesn't see how he's being treated badly (DON'T WORRY BABY, I SEE IT, I'M NOTING IT IN DETAIL, AND I'M HOLDING MY GRUDGES FOREVER), but he always sees when others need his help. Sprite's game is at a level impossible for mere mortals to achieve. He has First where he wants, he does with him what he wants, how he wants, when he wants. First didn't even notice how his entire existence is now in Sprite's hand (the other hand, not the one holding the garbage bag). First's mood depends on Sprite, what he will do, what he will tell him, how he will behave. First, the "perfect grumpy dude", in the presence of Sprite turns into a pathetic, sad, sulking jealous babygirl, who is 🥺 because Sprite gives him ONLY 96.78% of his attention and who is 🥰 because Sprite says that he is his special, most important boy…. I AM IN AWE, that's my son! And the funniest thing is that Sprite doesn't do it consciously, he is SINCERELY devastated that he is not on the same team as First, he honestly runs after him with the most 🥺🥰🥳🤡😇🤩😋😊 face in the world, he sincerely wants to be with him and take care of him. Putting aside everything that happens in The Sign, the shoe-tying scene is my third favorite, hottest scene of the year. And that is the perfection that is Twins. They have no shame or objections at all to just... randomly throw a scene that makes me wonder why I'm still alive and writing these words and not my own epitaph.

And that's not even all! There's also the adorable necklace scene with Salmon, Evil!Buddhist Monk sowing disturbance with his whispered evil words :) random scenes with the other characters and their own messy lives, how social media and shipping culture destroy friendships and real people, Sam heartbroken pumping volleyball balls while the camera shows him from behind 😭😂…

The only thing I didn't like, but I just NEVER like it, was the romanticization of bruises. No honey, bruises are NOT signs of love, can we stop this already?

But! Back to being stupid and high. I can't help but praise the 'realization of their feelings and the kiss' scene, which was the most random, ridiculous, TRASHY lol and funniest scene in the world, which I spent half of wheezing on the floor, but which I absolutely fucking LOVE.

The amount of love I feel for Sprite and his pure energy is immeasurable. Both me and First have NO chance, he's just too powerful. And the moment when Sprite knelt in front of First, slowly and never breaking eye contact, was defining and life-changing for both of us 💖

The small boat rocked with each surge of the waves, tilting from one side to the other. John had rolled his sleeves up to his elbows, and the muscles of his arms strained with every stroke of the oars.

He was very strong, not even panting with exertion. Sea spray dotted his face, but not sweat. His hair was damp and disheveled, and if it wasn’t for his collar and nice clothes, he would seem like a rugged sailor.

You glanced back over your shoulder at the ever receding Crockett Island. The stars slowly wheeled across the dark sky, the full moon the only other source of light. But that wasn’t a problem for him, he was perfectly capable of ferrying you two to the mainland.

“Are you really sure?” You asked, wrapping your sweater tighter around you, more for comfort than against the chill you could barely feel.

“Absolutely,” he said with no hesitation.

You were about halfway there, and you figured there was still time enough to turn around. You hesitated for a moment, not sure if you’d really want that.

“You’re not going to miss it?” You continued, trying to be tactful. “Not… Sarah? Nor Mildred?”

He swallowed hard. “That was another life. I…have made my peace with it. Nothing else to miss. Certainly not Beverly.”

You couldn’t help but smile a little at that, knowing he was trying to cheer you up.

“Sorry to bring it up I just… I want you to know I don’t want to force you into anything. I would be with you anywhere, whatever the circumstances.”

“I know you’re not forcing me,” he said, halting his rowing so he could take your hand for a moment. “I would never accuse you of it. I made a choice when I met you, and I will continue to stand by it.”

“But to leave all you’ve ever known…” you tried to protest, but he cut you off.

“I have you. Who cares about the rest?”

Your eyes watered as a myriad emotions overwhelmed you, but you bit your bottom lip to contain the tears. He smiled that warm, kind smile of his, thumb stroking over your knuckles, and you knew things might just be alright.

“It’s like you said, anywhere together,” he said. “And I want to see the world with you.”

A revenant, due to a priory experiment that backfired and went haywire. Rather than the experiment MAKING Pyrs a revenant, all by it's self, it actually ripped open the connection he already had to the mists. From the time he was a sapling, he could hear voices and strange noises where there shouldn't be any- one of the reasons other saplings avoided him.

A lonely sapling, Pyrs didn't keep much if any company. Most other sylvari found him just odd enough so as to not connect with him, or even try to. His one friend from the very beginning was Sugyn. She was also an outcast and generally odd, so the two were able to bond over their mutual treatment. Eventually finding that they had a lot in more common with each other.

Pyrs felt called to the vigil as part of his wyld hunt. He was not very cut out for it and it took a very long time before he acclimated to the noise and new sensory experiences. Which were very distressing for his first year there.

Despite having a better handle on his sensory sensitivities now, he still wears a blindfold. It still helps him concentrate and generally comforts him. The only person allowed to take it OFF OF him, other than himself obviously, is his husband Louis. A sign of trust between the two, whenever his husband wants to see his face, he'll slip the blindfold off. gay moment.

He was originally training to become a guardian. Canonically, he's a Herald. but I play Vindicator on him the most lately.

He heard Louis' voice in his dream long before they met. He recognized Louis' voice the MOMENT he heard him in person.

Him n louis got married sometime in season 3 and spent basically all of HoT doing hurtcomfort fic things because louis almost fucken DIED and pyrs wasnt high enough rank to aid the commander or the grand magister(<louis) on the field yet. also more hurtcomfort angst comes around in pof when louis fucken dies trying to protect aurene and goes through the domain of the lost to live again because i love torturing my most beloved babies. sometimes when louis misses pyrs a whole lot cause hes out doing the vigil warmaster stuff for months at a time he'll summon a mesmer illusion of pyrs so he can Gay Yearn about his husband being away still 🥺 also fun fact. pyrs and louis are my most Normal Conventional height difference ship. pyrs is like 5'8 and louis is like 6'1. most normal height difference on my entire account in my entire lore lmao.

theres also hurtcomfort in HoT from pyrs hearing mordy doing The Thing and louis trusts him so so much and pyrs trusts louis more than anyone else ever and they help eachother before louis Does The Thing and almost Fucking Dies and then they help eachother more.

I have a lot of fun spotting familiar faces, so I thought this would be a fun and silly little project, seeing which actors have repeatedly been in things that Deano was also in (not necessarily alongside). Shortland Street (1996/2019)

Dean played Nurse Harry Martin in 1996 (not sure how many episodes). Jared played Dr. Sam Collins in 18 episodes in 2019.

All Saints (2001/2002)

Dean plays Evan Coen in S4E42. Jared plays Brett Davis S5E8.

Go Girls (2009/2009-2010)

Dean plays Marco in 2 episodes, S1E2 & S1E11. (His character is so awful, like what Anders haters think Anders is like.) Jared plays Ben Maddox in 12 episodes S1E4-S2E12.

The Almighty Johnsons (2011-2013)

Dean plays Anders Johnson (Bragi) throughout. Jared plays Anders’s younger brother Tyrone Johnson (Hod) throughout.

Dean plays George Lowe in all 6 episodes. George is so lovely! Unfortunately these two seem to have a falling out. Jared plays Earl Riddiford in 3 episodes, S1E2, S1E4, S1E5.

Dean plays Barnaby Buchanan in S5E4 “The Dark Angel”. Barnaby is a tragic character suffering from serious PTSD exacerbated by his time at an asylum. I love himb. ♥

Jared plays Rory Parkes in S1E4 “Hunting the Stag”.

He wants to be called darling, it’s so cute when you do it, and it always makes him smile, even though he doesn’t like to admit it. 

Wilford: Wilford would look at you with wide eyes, and then immediately get on his knees, “Pumpkin? Did I do somethin? You usually call me your cute gum drop! Ya haven’t called me that all day! You only use my name when I’m in trouble! Did Wilfy do somethin wrong?” he grabs your hand and gives you the sweetest puppy eyes, “I didn’t get out Mr. Shooty today, I swear!” 

The Googles: Prime: Would be sus. You usually greet him with pet names. He, being well… fucking google, googles it. He asks the internet why you aren’t calling him his pet names. When he finds out it could be because you’re mad, he goes to you and asks what’s wrong.  “You’re the only human I like, and I want to know if I made you angry.”  When you admit it was a little prank, you actually see him pout, and blush, “I actually missed your nicknames, don’t do that again, or I’ll be sad.”  Oliver: He picks up on it immediately.  “Honey– am I in trouble? I didn’t do anything, wrong, did I? Have I been putting too much pressure on the nicknames?” Then you tell him it’s a tik tok trend.  “A-ah..” he then pouts, and wraps himself around you, “Well! (Y/N!) I don’t mind you saying my name, it sounds so wonderful coming from your lips~” he winks at you as you turn a bright red.  Oxnard: He pretends it doesn’t affect him. He just looks towards you and asks, “What?”  “Oh nothing.”  On the inside he’s wondering where your sweet pet names went, and it’s only when you two are going to bed that he confronts you about it, pouting as he clings to you.  “You haven’t called me sweet heart or love all day!” He’s overheating now, “And I don’t like it. I love your pet names, please keep calling me them..”  You can’t help bit smirk a little, and tease him, cooing over him and smothering him in affection. Which, even though he doesn’t say it, he loves.  Omega: Gets pouty, not angry, just pouty. He wants you to call him darling, and sweet heart, and other nick names! Why’d you call his name? Everyone else uses that name! You use your special little nicknames, and he likes how only you can use them! So he just ignores you until you call him sweet heart. 

Bing: He gets anxious at first, before grinning like a fool.  “You saw that tik tok video, didn’t you?”  You give him a sheepish smile, “Yeah..”  He chuckles, laughing, “You almost got me dude! Nice try babe!”  He then ends up wrapping his arms around you and snuggling you, playfully scolding you for trying to prank the prankster!  

Eric: He thinks he’s in trouble.  “D-did I-I d-do some-something w-wrong?” he whimpers, looking at you with wide eyes, his heart pounding– oh god, is this when you finally dump him?  Seeing him so scared, you quickly climb into his lap, and shake your head, telling him about the video you saw on tik tok, and apologize for scaring him. You cuddle, kiss, and snuggle him for the rest of the day, calling him all the sweet adorable pet names he deserves. 

Illinois: He smirks, “Why, I love the way my name sounds when you say it~” he purrs, “Can you please say it more? You make it sound like a song from heaven, which makes sense, cause ya are an angel.”  He then winks at your flustered face, chuckling at how cute you look when blushing.  Yancy: “Youse okay– wait, am I in trouble? That’s what my ma would always do when I was in trouble! Did I do somethin to upset youse? I only beat up that guy cause he insulted ya!”  You look at him in shock, “Wait, what– you’re not in trouble? And what guy?”  He laughs, “N-no one! I didn’t say anythin about a guy, sweet heart, youse must be crazy bella!” He laughs even more, “I-I didn’t do anythin! I swear!”  You look skeptical as hell, but don’t push the issue any further. 

Magnum: He tilts his head, before perking up, “Yes sweet heart? The siren who stole me heart? The love of me life? Is there somethin you need me to do, or did ya just need to call me over for some cuddles? Ye know what, lemme go cuddle you, cause now I’m in a cuddlin mood!”  You’re too flustered to even respond to if you need help, because him calling you the love of his life melted you into a shy puddle. He ends up cuddling you and calling you more cute nicknames, loving how he can tease you.  Bim: He is all about pet names. He loves pet names. He loves knowing that there’s a name just for him. So, when you call him Bim, he can’t help but pout. Since he’s so used to being called darling, and pouts.  “Oh everyone calls me Bim! Since I am Bim Trimmer, and while I do love my name, since, well, you know, I am Bim Trimmer, I like it when you call me your darling much better, because only you get the privilege to call me that!” 

Silver: “How do you know my secret identity?!”  You dead pan, “We’re literally dating!”  “Oh! Right! I mean– what are you talking about random civilian?!”  You purse your lips, crossing your arms, and he chuckles nervously.  “You never know where there might be spies! I’m just saying!”  You turn away in a huff, and he immediately asks for your forgiveness, saying that evil is everywhere, and he has to protect you! 

Host: He just looks at you, before saying, “Host knows that this is about tik tok. And he wants to say, that you tried, but also, he wants you to know that while it was a very good try, he still loves you.”  You pout, and he just chuckles.  “Host loves how cute you are, my darling. I can indulge you, this once.”  You sigh, “It’s too late! The opportunity is already gone!”  He chuckles at your antics, before going to cuddle you, laughing at how pouty you are. 

Dr. Iplier: He acts similarly to Dark, taking a sip of his coffee before going.  “(Y/n).” You look at him in surprise, not expecting that.  “Bing showed me the tik tok video.” he grins, “It was cute.”  Then he goes back to drinking his coffee and reading his book, chuckling, before saying, “Maybe next time.”  Yan: (I saved my boi for last leave me alone! >^< I love himb..)  He just perks up, his heart fluttering– you called his name? You called his name! He smiles, swooning, leaning his cheek on his hand, “Yes senpai? Is there anything you need, my love? Or did you just want me to notice you? Because I already have! Let me show you!”  Then he realizes– the tik tok! Bing showed him that tik tok! But he decides that he wants to hold you more than play along with the tik tok, so he wraps himself around you like an octopus and showers you in love.

Alright I’ll have to post the last two separately, so keep an eye out!--There’s still a week left of vacation left for Stinger’s parents, and Stinger himself is clearly falling apart.Max, a single child from a run-down inner city neighborhood, who pulled himself up by his bootstraps so often they might break if he has to do it again, still marvels at big, close-knit farming families like his boyfriend’s. The love. The support. The sheer number of people that show up to holiday dinners.Stinger, the fourth of seven children--seven, Max can hardly even imagine--comes by his work ethic honestly. It’s a bit of a shame that between school, training, more school, illness, transitioning, more training, helping Death Gatling and his kid brother out after The Incident, and hero business, he’s fallen out of touch with using it for actual farm work. He assured Max, when he brought up the idea of giving his loving, hard-working parents some time off, that it was like riding a bicycle--once learned, not easily forgotten. He’d take right back to it like a duck to water, he said.In hindsight, they both should have known it wouldn’t be so easy.It’s been three hours since he sat down to balance the books for the day--in the meantime, Max got the twins to bed, cleaned up the kitchen, jotted down a grocery list for tomorrow, and made the rounds to lock down the whole farm for the night--and he, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be making any headway. The freak storm a few nights ago left them with some extra expenses to take care of today, and the added paperwork, on top of the routine things he’s already spent a week struggling with, seems to have stalled him out completely. He’s been staring at the same receipt for at least half an hour now. If he bounces his leg much more it’s gonna fall right off.Max glances at the clock and decides that if he doesn’t step in now, Stinger won’t get enough sleep tonight and tomorrow will be even worse.“Babe, it’s getting late,” he calls, testing the waters.As expected, Stinger doesn’t seem to notice him. His pencil drums a frantic rhythm against the table. He’s muttering an endless string of numbers under his breath.Sighing with a tired sympathy that’s been dragging at his arms and feet for days now, Max heaves himself upright and lurches across the room. After a long day of hammering nails and hauling debris and chasing children, he’s ready to fall into a coma--but only if Stinger’s there with him. He’s not leaving him here to agonize over his family’s finances all night, and he really doesn’t feel like sleeping alone.He sets a hand gently on his shoulder and shakes him. “Stinger, come to bed.”The only reaction he gets is a slight faltering of Stinger’s restless movements.Yeah, figures. Time to break out his secret weapon.It’s undignified and utterly graceless, but the slouch of Stinger’s long, gangly body leaves him just enough room to squirm under his arm, a hand held on his bouncing knee to keep it from battering him on the way. He doesn’t waste a second--and not just because it’s cramped down there--seizing Stinger by his dirt-stained vest and pulling him into a kiss.He jerks back into the real world with a muffled noise that isn’t quite a protest, and Max snorts out a quiet laugh, smiling against his lips, leaning in harder until the stunned resistance melts away. Stinger’s arms loop around his neck; Max’s hands find his hips and press as he levers himself into a more comfortable position. Fingers thread into his hair, undoing the rest of what the long day missed, but it’s hard to care when he’s so tired and Stinger is so warm and so close.It’s clumsy, lacking in their usual enthusiasm, and his lips are none too soft after a week of paring down his hygiene routine to the bare essentials, and it still feels like home, wrapped up in his arms, the world, ever so briefly, nothing but each other.They break apart for some gentle nuzzling for a moment or two, before Max opens his eyes--Stinger’s are gazing back, bright in the lamplight despite the dark circles under them--and asks, butting their foreheads together, “Do I have your attention now?”Stinger gives him a small, tired smile. “Oh yeah.”“Good.” Max rocks back, pulling out of his arms, to park his butt at the very edge of the table, blocking his way back to the sprawl of papers, and says, “It’s time to hit the hay.”The smile slips. “Max...”“You’ve been at this for hours. It’s getting late.” He trails a foot forlornly up and down his leg, giving him his best puppy eyes. “Are you really gonna make me sleep cold and alone tonight?”Stinger wilts under the force of his pleading face...but not enough. The frown he adopts is nearly a grimace as he shifts his hips uncomfortably and says, “Max, you know how important it is to me that I do this right.”“I do!” he assures him. “But you need sleep, and I need sleep, and I think--” He flashes a wink, smirking. “--that if the farm survived you as a child, it’ll survive you leaving the finances for tomorrow.”For the longest time, Stinger simply stares at him, obviously trying to formulate a rebuttal and failing, probably because Max is right. And his brain is fried. In the end, he settles for plopping his head into his lap and groaning.“I just want to show them I can do something right!” is what Max thinks he whines into his thighs. It’s hard to tell, seeing as he’s whining into his thighs and all. He can forgive him for being a little muffled.A few more, indistinct things rise to his ears, things like “college dropout” and “disappointment” and “a bad son”. Max wants to laugh, but Stinger might think he’s laughing at him and not about how absurd it is that he thinks his family doesn’t unconditionally love and support him.He smiles instead, petting his dark, messy hair, and tells him, “I’m sure your mom and dad won’t care if you need help. In case you forgot--they don’t do all of this by themselves, and they probably aren’t expecting you to, either.”It takes a little longer for it to sink in, but Stinger finally sighs, turns his head to the side, and mumbles, “I guess.”Max does laugh then, just a few soft chuckles, at how despondent he sounds. Carefully, he slides off of the table and pulls him to his feet, where he promptly sways and slams his face down into his shoulder.“You know you’re family too, right?” he murmurs.He knows, but hearing it makes his chest and face feel all warm. He opens his mouth to thank his lovely boyfriend for his kind--“Hey, that gives me an idea! You wanna take a crack at--”“Stinger,” he says, and pulls him off his shoulder. Looking him straight in the eye, hands squishing his cheeks lovingly, he states, voice flat, “I got into college on an athletic scholarship.”Stinger’s eyes flick between his and the papers on the table. “So...?”“We’ll call your sister in the morning.”Stinger sticks his tongue out at him, with a bratty, “Nyeh!” for good measure.Max kisses his handsome, stupid face and ushers him to bed.

Sorry, I couldn't find clips of Aidee in Shortland Street, but if anyone knows what episode(s) she's in, or has shots of her from it I'll happily update this post lol.

The Brokenwood Mysteries (2018)

They're in the same episode, S5E4 "The Dark Angel"! Dean played Barnaby Buchanan, a man with PTSD, and Aidee plays his therapist Amy.

Barnaby is such an odd little bean. I love himb. Amy is a believable - and I think even likeable - character but I still didn't agree with some of her choices.

One Lane Bridge (2020)

Dean played Andrew 'Grub' Ryder in S1E1-S1E6. Aidee played his wife Kate Ryder in the same episodes.

Vegas (2021)

Dean played Ryder Harrison in 5 of the 6 episodes. Aidee played Ginny Poulan in 2 episodes (S1E1&S1E6).

Dean plays a bad guy once again. But more importantly, look at his hair. Idek if you can tell but it's all shaved except this patch on the back and it looks awful. It sells the character but how could they do that to him??? I wonder if it was his idea, haha.
