Ok so While the reveal of his fiance/wife Yona hit my Sidon simpin ass like a fucking freight train. I’m actually not angry about it. There’s a part of my heart screaming it should a been me and a part of it going “good for my boy.”
while its an arrange marriage which makes alot of sense given that he is royalty and this is not the first time its been used. I actually genuinely like Yona. She’s really sweet and really cute and I like that she’s not afraid to to be like “JUST DO IT!”
My biggest issue with her in all honesty is just some color choices. I would a made her just a little less saturated to work better with the render engine and personally would have done yellow dots over her eyes as I’m not feeling the pastel pink. But that’s minor nitpicks that do not hinder her for me. (tho I do wish some of the plot/dialogue was written a little better i feel they made the Zora talk to one another way too formally even people who are close. I personally would a liked more organic speech but that’s more an issue with the writing)
And I love the sidlink ship too. I adore so many sidlink artist as well. But what I do not like at all is how much hate I’ve seen to Yona. Like she doesn’t deserve all the hate. I also do like the idea some people have that Link and Sidon are more brothers than lovers due to Link being betrothed to his sister Mipha.
I like both sides of the exploration with sidon and link be it romantic or platonic in nature. But i really don’t like some of the nasty views I’m seeing stir up. Tho the welcome home cheater memes funny as hell to me.
but all the hate i’m seeing for Yona does full my spite NexGen tendencies and I am very tempted to make them a child who is named Link because Sidon would 100000% name his kid after link.
EDIT: Caved and made him. Meet Prince Link. I’ll develop him more after I finish my last batch of commissions.

Green and Banded like his mother (saturation duller and darker tones due to his fathers coloring) With Cyan and yellow fins like his Father’s family and his father’s face and golden eyes, but with a head tail much like his grandfather’s.

Have to admit, seeing more people confirm my suspicion that the female characters in totk felt... let's say lacking, both new and old, is kinda a relief. I thought I was just hyper-critical, but I guess not as much as I had feared.
I also have seen someone criticise Yona for feeling like a glorified sign-post, and only there to be Sidon's emotional crutch, with no real quest-arc of her own to build her character beyond "Fiancee" being rushed in.
Sonia could have had potential, but just became Zelda's mom stand-in. Kind motherly sweet.
Mineru: Probably the only newly introduced female who could be a bit different, and she literally only has like 2 cutscenes, and even she feels more like a "kind and gentle" character.
It also feels like in Totk, most of the female characters, exception Riju and almost Mineru, with some bigger role are follow a specific kind of personality. Like the cute, sweet, affectionate kind girl trope. In Botw we at least had Urbosa. Compared to the male characters, who feel a lot more diverse in personality and general presentation, the pool of girls just feels like a shallow puddle.
Yeah, I completly agree. There's a sweetness that prevails every main female character, to the point where it almost makes them nonsensical at times? I have already talked about my confusion regarding Mineru's feeling of responsibility regarding the Imprisoning War, that feels more like there to soften her as a character rather than about making her relationship to Rauru, Sonia, Hyrule or Zelda any clearer --since... what did she do/didn't she do that could make her feel like she should take responsibility?
Even Riju kind of follows the trope of "not feeling enough" in a way that almost doesn't land with her actual role within the gameplay, and that is kind of a redux version of her BotW arc where it did make more sense since she was a child --and she went through turmoil before once. Buliara does a lot of the heavy lifting here (literally I suppose).
Shoutout to some side characters tho. Lots of gerudo characters that I really loved (I don't know why I love the two racers so much but I do, the girl who works at the Bazaar inn and literally could not care less whether you live or die, I even felt Emotions about Mattison and her father even thouuuugh I have many issues with the message being "you will eventually come back here and marry and have a child of your own" like, she's 6 years old??? let her decide for herself???? and also the fact that the game doesn't want to give weight to that old tradition of keeping voes out makes it feel arbitrary when it could be a genuinely interesting moment of the difficulty of having to shoulder a complicated cultural heritage VS your personal comfort, which is, like, biculturality 101 and VERY relatable, anyway), I think Paya is better handled in this one, Impa's little roadtrip is fun...

Nanbaka: a bunch of prison buddies in a jail cell, they try to escape whenever they’re bored but never actually end up getting out. Not like they want to leave anyway..
(My sister introduced me to this show actually)(honestly if I lived in this jail I wouldn’t want to leave either)(very much a comedy series season 1 but it does get more serious in season 2)(so I’ve been told.. well i made it to zora’s domain, on the way i stopped to look at the tablet thing thinking i recognized it from botw and after reading it was like LMAOOO fuck i was right

For you who stayed, let me recommend you something.
Beware of the villainess is a reincarnation story about a previously normal (but slightly angry) girl from our world who suddenly finds herself in a romance novel! Turns out she has turned into the villainess, Melissa Podebrat!
Follow Melissa as she explores the world of the novel and realizes that the love interests she previously liked are actually huge creepy scumbags.
Now for the characters!
Melissa Podebrat:
It’s hard for me to describe Melissa, not because there is little to her character but because every time I think of her all I can think is “hee hoo pretty girl please hold my hand and maybe murder me?”.
Melissa is a sassy, smart, hot head who is angry at the love interests for how they treat her and Yuri.
Anyway I love her.
Yona Whitefall:
Yona is Melissa's personal maid. A sass monster who hungers for money.
Yona was originally my favourite character but then Melissa got a sword, and that kinda awoke something in me? I’m not sure.
Anyway I love her too.
Nine Forton:
Nine is a good boy. Honestly maybe the goodest boy to have ever existed.
Melissa finds him as a poor beggar and offers him a job, he now works for her as her personal butler and is head over heels in love with her. Sadly he lacks a tongue and some of his teeth.
A good boy, 10/10 would pat head.
Yuri Elizabeth:
The original novels main character! A sweet girl who absolutely adores Melissa. Originally an orphan but gets adopted by the Elizabeth's due to her strong magic.
She is quite disgusted by all her “love interests” and is very much on board with Melissa helping her get rid of them.
She is also a sass machine.
The love interests:
One of these guys are not actually that bad but the other three are absolute trash.
Ian Basilios. He is Melissa's fiance as well as the crown prince. He is a playboy with no care for his fiance. He can’t handle being reprimanded.
Anyway yuck...
Jake Podebrat. He is Melissa's younger brother. He’s a stalker. Yuck.
I... I don’t really remember his name? I think it was Peacock Melody? Anyway he is a kidnapper. Fuck off with that. Mega yuck.
Jack Forton. He is a werewolf. He isn’t that bad, very full of himself and quite violent, but compared to the others he aint that bad.
There are more characters but this is getting long so lets just list some pros and cons!
Pros:
1. Melissa, fuck I love her. I can’t do her justice describing her, but fuck dude. I love her.
2. The story is genuinely enjoyable and has made me laugh quite the number of times.
3. The art is gorgeous.
4. I really like that both Yuri and Nine are so wholesomely in love with Melissa. It’s super cute.
5. Nine cries a lot and it’s cute.
6. Doggo
7. The outfits are sooooo good.
Cons:
1. The first chapter is kinda lame. Melissa seems a little forced there.
2. Some story things comes a bit out of nowhere and some things changes as the story progresses, that might just be a translation thing tho.

mostly bc I’m usually so picky fhgkdkfgj pls don’t get me wrong, there’s tons of mangas/manhwas/webcomics that I like, but I only follow a few. I usually follow something that I use as some kind of reference to build my own story, mainly for the art and characterizations, etc so yeah wwww
for ones I obviously read were Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater, ofc, but you def already know about them wwwwww
so uhh I guess I’m just gonna list what I currently follow? I’m currently liking manhwas/webcomics bc it’s easy to read on mobile. these are all that I check p regularly:
1. Gangsta. by Kohske. (seinen, adventure/thriller) Yeahhh p obvious I love this one lmao, it’s mature and pretty dark and interesting even though the plot’s pretty simple. Also, Kohske is cruel. She’s one of mangakas I look up to fgsgsjfd. It’s about mafia fights and drug problems and superhumans. plot is angst-heavy, but the characters are so lovable and did I mention everyone was hot asf? it’s currently on hiatus tho.
2. Otoyomegatari by Kaoru Mori (seinen, romance) this one’s so obvious lmao I like pretty clothes and it’s a great reference for me to learn to be a mangaka. The plot follows the stories of couples and marriages in medieval central asia. I must warn that the art details on this manga is beyond insane. Eyegasm.
3. Kono Oto Tomare by Amyuu (shounen, music) if u like chihayafuru u def would like his one wwwww. it’s about Koto and traditional japanese music. the romance is so cute jhdfsjfgsjkafgjkghgjdgd
4. Akatsuki no Yona by Kusanagi Mizuho (shoujo, adventure/romance). I’m honestly so into historical mangas wwwwww. it follows Princess Yona and her ‘dragons’ on their journey after Yona was exiled from the palace.
5. Boku no Hero Academia by Horikoshi Kohei (shounen). Yeah this one’s maybe the only popular shounen I follow rn wwww but I haven’t checked it since like four months ago or smt wwwww
6. Flawless by Shinshinhye (webtoon, romance). it’s about a story between a blind boy with advanced senses and a headstrong girl. seriously good romance and even the side characters are all so complex and flawed. The male lead is a bit twisted and so manipulative while the heroine is stubborn and v independent.
7. 7 Wonders by Metalu (webtoon, fantasy/romance) idk if this had been translated or no, I read it in my native lang wwwww. it revolves around Indonesian folktale of Jaka Tarub and Nawang Wulan.
8. The Villainess Reverses The Hourglass (manhwa, romance). Aria Roscente was sentenced to death bc of her adopted family’s schemes, but god gave her a chance to change her fate by sending her back ten years earlier, and this time Aria vows to be a real villainess to punish people who wronged her.
I love this one so much bc we have a villain as a protag, who actually acts like a villain. She actually knows she’s evil, is ruthless, but still so charismatic that we can’t help but think that her actions were justified. I’m weak against greatly written villains. She’s also deeply wicked to the core, and not turning into your typical glorified good hero. Did I also mention she’s a strong woman who absolutely doesn’t need no man? yeah absolutely good shit
9. Suddenly I Became A Princess/Who Made Me A Princess by Plutus & Spoon (manhwa, fantasy, isekai). seriously, I normally don’t do isekai guys but I like this one so much wwwww. Basically an orphan fell asleep (suicide?) and woke up in the body of Athanasia, a princess she’d read about in a novel. The catch is she knows the whole plot of the novel and she knows Athanasia’s gonna be murdered by her own father, the emperor. So we follow Athy as she tries to avoid her death. Good. Found. Family. Shit.
Also the dad’s so tsundere hjgdskgfdk I love him.
10. Lessa by POGO (manhwa, dark fantasy) Completely Underrated™. it splits into a trilogy; Lessa, Lessa: The Crimson Knight, and Lessa: Servant of Cosmos. the last one is ongoing. Following the adventure of Lessa, a fallen god who fathered a demonic race called the Demans, and Rano, a human searching for his sister who was abducted by the demans.
This one also got a pretty dark in theme, considering its heavy symbolic with gods, angels, disciples and believers. I must warn that the art is maybe not for everyone bc it could get pretty disturbing like let’s say, Madoka? but instead of cute girls we have devilish/satanic figures lol. But honestly, the art is very pretty, and it speaks. Definitely my favorite manhwa so far.
Bonus, the ones that already completed (or, ehm, indefinitely on hiatus)!
1. Chang Ge Xing by Xia Da (manhua, seinen) currently on indefinite hiatus, but the published chapters are definitely Worth It™. it follows Princess Chang Ge, who was chased out of the palace after a coup, and living as a man while trying to gather strength for a revenge. I’m a historical fanatic I told you wwwww, but also the heroine is so complex, ruthless, cunning, manipulative, but also independent and v charismatic. The kinda heroine I love the most ughhh.
she seduces princesses and even elected as the male lead’s ‘sworn brother’ lol also she has a wife at some point. A++
2. Zetsuen No Tempest by Shirodaira Kyo (shounen, dark fantasy) follows Mahiro and Yoshino as they try to crack the murder case of Mahiro’s sister Aika through magic, wizards, and logic, at the end of the world. Heavy Shakespeare references. if u don’t have the time to read the manga, the anime is a pretty dang good choice too.

here is a list of shoujo manga i’ve read and i think are worth reading (under the cut) and warning this is gonna be pretty long
NANA: The story of two 20-year-old women who share the same name. Even though they come from completely different backgrounds, they somehow meet and become best friends.
everyone is probably sick of hearing me talk about it but I truly think this is the best shoujo manga of all time 😁 i’m not even joking this series is everything to me

I think this is technically josei but I still recommend it, same author as NANA

this starts out pretty harmless, but it gets really heavy omg i cry every time i read it 😐 i can’t do it justice in a couple words but it’s one of my ultimate fave series. fave male lead and fave relationship dynamic

again, this is josei but highly recommend!! the description is misleading because most of the story happens when they’re in high school. imo this is the best sports manga of all time

i love high stakes and drama... and this has all of that. my fave ongoing shoujo manga
Cardcaptor Sakura: Fourth grader Sakura Kinomoto finds a strange book in her father's library -- a book made by the wizard Clow to store dangerous spirits sealed within a set of magical cards. But when Sakura opens it up, there is nothing left inside but Kero-chan, the book's cute little guardian beast... who informs Sakura that since the Clow cards seem to have escaped while he was asleep, it's now her job to capture them!
one of my childhood favourites and i still love it to this day

it’s not a perfect series but i think anyone who reads it will definitely find something to love about it

Oboreru Knife/Drowning Love: They fight one another, they chase after one another, they capture one another—a turbulent tale of preteens on the brink of self-destruction.
i love the art and the tone of the writing but i have a lot of mixed feelings about this manga. i think it’s worth the read for the pretty panels alone tho... tw for sexual assault

Review on Soowon in the recent chapters of Akatsuki no Yona
Soowon have lied to Yona and the dragons when he said the Marital Arts Tournament was just to parade them in front of the people. He later reveals it to Zeno that it was to see his power. Kye-Sook told him the details of what power Zeno had lifted and tossed Joo-Doh caravly, man and horse with one hand. As we saw in the tournament Hak can hold a bolder with just one hand, and the sky tribe with two hands. If we think about it Zeno can kill hundreds and even thousands of soldiers, he had done it before when the soldiers where gonna attack the Kouka Kingdom. Which made them to believe that Zeno has protected of the castle. The Dragons and Yona, Hak prefer Zeno not to fight which is good because Zeno should be there to protect Yona as well if there is trouble, not to be used as an soldier. But how come Zeno didn’t brother to stop Soowon soldiers that enetered Kouka Kingdom? We see Zeno who was behind a tree watching Soowon mom and dad, maybe he did that because she has the King Hiryuu blood or he could just be checking around the castle. I believe Zeno became an traveler like how he had met the dragons when they were young and even found true love, he ofc eventually had to go back but when the princess was born did he stay to protect her at an young age, all the dragons had felt something when they first met Zeno, why doesn’t Zeno react the same way? If you ask me soowon has taken a like towards Zeno power but maybe that’s because he doesn’t have long to live, which made me think why don’t ya make Zeno the King? But that wouldn’t go so well and we all know it, the dragon warriors are only there to protect the reincarnation of King Hiryuu. But that wouldn’t make sense but I believe that soowon has picked someone who is befitting to be king and if so it’s someone we don’t know of. Soowon would’ve let Yona in on the battle and the four dragons if he ever thought she was fit to be ruler, right now they are treating her like some damsel in distress. But I wouldn’t be surprised by that since women aren’t supposed to rule the king empower which makes me think if not Soowon then she’d have to rule by herself. Something tells me that Yona isn’t gonna sit silently by any longer.
Hak still haven’t forgiven Soowon so they aren’t on speaking terms I would say but it’s not like Soowon treated hak as an soldier, his general said he was Soowon companion. That’s why Soowon was shocked when he saw Hak working with the soldiers and helping out, he only said those few words “what are you doing” by accident because his head has been in splitting pain. It was good that we got to see what soowon was thinking even if it was only for a few panels of the time he was sick and he had accidentally talked about Yona to Yona without even being aware eirther.
As you can see here it is clear that soowon still cares for Yona, they had totally had the unhappy vibe if you asked me you could even see it in there eyes. But I think Soowon kinda resent Yona because of what has happened a little bit.
Hak has gone back into thinking that he must stand by for there happiness, he has once done that for soowon when’re he wished for Yona and his happiness.
Not only that but has now find out that he has planned it from the beginning and not only that but a lot of people wanted to see Yona father die and make Soowon the King. Even Hak had thought that Soowon would make an great King. But Soowon knew that when he killed King IL that Hak could never forgive him even if he had kept it an sercet to his revenge plan and told him the reason why. I believe that Soowon knew it could never keep Hak on his side. This also explain why Lili dad didn’t want to help Yona because he was on Soowon side.
Tbh I was pretty disappointed when Lili said she was on Yona side, tbh I wanted her to say that she was on both their side. She did say she didn’t want blood shed tho.
But in these recent panels Soowon has slit up Hak and Yona not because he has feelings for Yona but because he doesn’t trust them even if they had an alliance he is still on guard of them and if you ask me that’s an pretty good King like decision. It is clear to me that Soowon has picked the throne over then to be with them. I was really hoping they could make up with each other tbh. Soowon could never ask for there forgiveness he knows that but he also knows he has an duty as King which he cannot overlook. I’ll see you on the part of the Review that I will be doing of Soowon soon. Also can we appreciate how cute Al looks in these scenes too.

Yona and Hak are just *chefs kiss*. Their whole relationship is honestly amazing. I think the dragons are so cool too although we didn't get to see anything sinificant about the yellow dragon. I love shin ah so much, baby needs to be protected. Also yona fucking killed that pimp like the queen she is, i stan an icon

if u want something emotionally consuming and devestating but beautiful and cool and very interesting id say zankyou no terror. this changed me as a kid lmao
jujutsu kaisen is an ongoing anime (up to episode 6) and i think itd be a nice anime for newbies !! its abt these 3 students who fight curses (monsters) and the fight scenes r nice and the characters are so cute and funny !!! it looks like it will go a bit deep tho,
i always recc akatsuki no yona because its such a perfect lil story with 24 episodes . its about a pampered princess who loses everything she's ever known, and her journey to become a true ruler, the character development is so satsifying and it has a fantasy historical setting !! the romance is also v cute and a side plot so its not overwhelming ( i hate focus on romance lol)
mob psycho 100 - a kid who has insane psychic powers but is average in every other aspect. its HILARIOUS and the animation is chefs kiss but also it has some very interesting life lessons !!
3 gatsu no lion - if you would like a gentle soothing slice of life where u just want to relax this is the one. its about this 17 yr old kid who lives alone and has depression who meets people and heals and plays shogi, the art and animation is so soft and warm !!
death parade - an extremely unique storyline abt where u go in the afterlife and stuff, i dont really know how to explain it but i highly recc u watch the trailer and read the synopsis to see if u like it !! the first ep blew my mind
psycho pass - another unique storyline in a world where computer intelligence measures the liklihood of a person being a crimimal, it discusses the morals of computer intelligence and whether its right for a computer to decide the outcome of a human life and has a super cool villain !!!!

AkaYona Week Day 1: hugs, kisses
February 8th, Sunday
“Everyone, I have an announcement,” Yona put her pen down and addressed the group. The seven were huddled in a far corner of the Kouka Public Library. It was the late afternoon and although there weren’t much people around, she took care to make sure her next few words only reached her friends.
She looked around at them: Hak had his palm under his chin, his black hair obscuring his usual bored looking face, Zeno didn’t look up: his full attention was on the bag of chips they somehow smuggled into the library, Jae-ha had his legs up on another chair next to him, he was all ears for Yona but his eyes were checking out the cute librarian’s ass a few feet away, Yoon was typing away at his laptop, and only Shin-ah and Kija’s full attention was on her.
“Should I call Soo-won back over here? I’m sure he’d want to know, he’s the editor and all ..” Hak brought out his phone and was seconds away from calling him when Yona stood up and almost hurled her petite body at him.
“No Hak!,” she yelled, receiving an irritated “shh!” from the librarian, she sat back down and sighed, “it’s .. about him. I’m going to tell him how I feel.”
Her companions stopped what they were doing and looked at her, she got all their attention now.
“Yona, are you sure?” Kija asked, concerned, “you said you were going to do it before winter break at the Christmas Party but you decided not to.”
“Yeah and that card was really hard to sneak out and throw away, I had to flirt with all those waitresses and give them my number while Sin-ah snatched it away, they’re all still calling me,” Jae-ha said and Shin-ah nodded in agreement, with his pet squirrel Ao on his shoulder.
“That’s because they think you’re in college, Jae-ha.” Yoon rolled his eyes, “if they knew you’re in high school still, I don’t think they’d pay you any mind.”
“I’m taking an online mixology course, it’s practically the same thing,” Jae-ha said, waving his friends’ remarks away.
Hak rubbed his temple with his hand trying to work away a headache, “no it’s not Droopy, and Yona, what Kija said, are you sure?,” he looked at her, they all did.
For a long time Yona knew she had feelings for Soo-won. Ever since she ran into him in the hallway that one day in the summer before 7th grade, Soo-won had been the one she looked up to and aspired to be. He always would speak to her with a smile on his face and always showed interest in whatever she was talking about at the time, he always minded her company. Aside from his kind demeanor, he was top of his class and was in almost every club, to which she tried to emulate. The way he drew people in and made everyone feel like an old friend, got him to be the President of the school council since his junior year beating out older, more experienced students.
But he was in his senior year now while Yona was still a sophomore, she knew she didn’t have much time to confess her feelings, and a few months towards the end of the school year didn’t seem like much.
“He’s going to graduate at the end of the year with you, Hak,” Yona said, “Jae-ha and Zeno, you guys are graduating too. I feel like I don’t have much time to decide, and before you know it, I won’t be able to do it at all. I’ve been in love with him for so long and I want to be able to tell him, the only thing is I’m afraid of what he’ll say.”
There was a long pause before Zeno broke the silence. CRUNCH. He had just finished his last bag of chips while Yona was talking and proceeded to start another.
“Don’t worry Missy,” he said, in between crunches, “he probably loves you the way we all do. We’ll help you confess to him.”
“Well ..,” she started, grabbing her school bag and reaching in, “I already made something for him ..”
Yona pulled out a red heart-shaped card out of her bag and placed it on the table. There was pink lace carefully fixed around the edges and a ribbon tied around it. There was carefully placed candy hearts glued to it that read “be mine,” “I’m yours,” and “hugs & kisses.”
There was another long pause before Yona spoke up, “so .. do you think he’ll like it?”
They all looked like they were trying to find the right words to say.
J: “I mean ..”
Z: “maybe one more candy heart over here ..”
K: “it’s so .. pretty ..”
Yoon: “ehhh”
S: visibly cringes
Hak bursts out laughing,”ok wait, wait,” he manages to say, in between laughter, “you’re going to confess to him with that? When are you going to do this? Can I have a front row seat?”
Yona hits him with her bag, “Hak, you’re so mean! I spent a lot of time on this, I can’t believe you! When you confess to your crush I’m going to tease you relentlessly!”
Hak dodged her attack easily and smirked, “when I confess to my crush, I bet you won’t!”
“Seriously tho guys,” Yona put her head down on the table, “if this card isn’t good enough, I’m gonna need help telling Soo-won.”
Zeno managed to get one of the candy hearts free and put it in his mouth, Kija hit his shoulder and Jae-ha mouthed a “what the fuck?” at him, to which he shrugged back and smiled.
“Let me take care of this, Yona,” Kija said taking out a pen and some fancy stationery from his bag. “I’ll help you write him a love letter and I’ll slip it to him tomorrow at the student council meeting.”
“Are you sure?” Yona asked, “I don’t know what to write to him.”
“I’ll take care of it, don’t worry,” Kija said, “I’m not one of the head writers of the journalism club for nothing.”
“Thanks so much,” she smiled and hugged her friend. “I’ll read it tomorrow at school, I can’t wait!”
