If you’re still doing Pokémon facts, could we get some on the Azumarill line?
i am always willing to talk about pokemon facts haha!
in a lot of ways azumarill is the perfectly built rapid waters pokemon. its large lungs and the swim bladder in its tail give it phenomenal control over its buoyancy- in fact, one of the most detrimental injuries an azumarill can face is a tail injury, since that would prevent it from being able to swim! the countershading on its body is designed to keep it hidden in rapid currents, where it often hides to ambush prey, rather than still waters.
i think one of the most fascinating adaptations they have are the specialized muscles in their ears that allow them to fold their ears in and keep water out! this means that they can still use their large ears to pinpoint the location of prey over the sound of water without risking ear infections. they really are a phenomenally built pokemon!

Thank goodness the palkia/dialga raids are 5☆, couldn't have dealt with another mewtwo fiasco.
Quick guide this time, them being lv. 75 makes them much easier to deal with and leaves more options to choose from; but they're still legendaries, so I'll drop some guidelines and a couple builds.
About both:
They're both dragon tera, both know Draco Meteor (only dragon type move of their set) and Fire Blast. They wipe the player's stats modifications and ability once at 80% HP left, and their own twice at 75% and 50% time left.
Draco Meteor can be exploited if you can survive it comfortably once (bring a non-fairy type with enough special defense/HP), let it hit you so the enemy's special attack goes down by its own and you only have to care about your offensive power.
However, since there are TWO enemy side stat wipes, and they are fairly close, you would have to survive a full-strenght Draco Meteor thrice!
The other way is to bring a fairy type and make your own special defense (via Calm Mind and Amnesia).
In any case, it's more efficient to buff your own statistics than debuff the enemy's.
DIALGA
Lots of coverage here, mainly in the form of Steel Beam (BAD news for fairies!). It also has a move that can lower your special defense (Earth Power) and a once-per-battle scripted Iron Defense.
It looks incredibly hard to beat on paper, but in reality it's still only lv. 75 and can be done with a common all-purpose Azumarill (you know the one: fairy tera, max attack & HP, huge power, shell bell, belly drum + play rough? Remember to teach it or make it remember Amnesia)
The trick is to NOT terastallize. It'll be a bit slower, but Steel Beam hurts a lot when you lose the resistance from the water typing and maybe it was me but it kept critting >:(
Instead, use Amnesia at the start of the battle, attack until the shield goes up (NO Belly Drum before that), Amnesia again - possibly 2-3x, then check how much life you've got left and see if you can slip a Belly Drum before attacking with Play Rough.
Keep in mind that you will probably die at some point (not gamebreaking, I won after fainting twice in the same try so it's doable) and if you do you have to reapply at least one Amnesia each time you come back. On the other hand you don't need to use Belly Drum, because Dialga will have a preference for Steel Beam which, while strong, also hurts the user - you can literally spend the entire duration of the shield setting up and watching it go down by itself.
Use healing cheers sparingly, keep them in case you get burned by Fire Blast, or for when you're done maxing out your attack and special defense but you risk going k.o. and the Shell Bell won't heal you enough.
You could try Leftovers instead, too. It's a bit more annoying but the healing is better (and not dependent on how much damage you deal, which is not a whole lot, this time...)
Azumarill can also learn Light Screen via TM, forgot about it so I can't say how efficient it would be and when to use it, but could def help
All in all not the cleanest solution in my repertoire, but I would hope everyone and their mother has a raid-grade Azumarill by now u-u
PALKIA
Would have loved to use Azumarill on this one as well, but it has Thunder (AND Rain Dance) so no can do.
Great results with Florges, though (which is nice since there are event mass outbreaks of Flabebe rn). Any other pure fairy type with good special bulk and access to Calm Mind (OR both Amnesia and Nasty Plot/Swords Dance/Belly Drum, depending on which offensive stat is higher) and Moonblast (or whatever other strong fairy type move your pokemon of choice can learn) will do. Other strong contenders we didn't try are Sylveon, Clefable (especially with Magic Guard!) and maybe Scream Tail.
Palkia, too, between Draco Meteor, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, and Thunder, has great supereffective coverage, but thankfully they all only hit fairy neutrally. Just need enough special defense to tank everything.
Our Florges had 252 EVs in special defense and special attack (and 4 in HP), a Shell Bell, and only ended up using Calm Mind and Moonblast. Sylveon-Clefable-Scream Tail would use the exact same build of course.
They're less common pokemon to have for raids (unless that was your choice for the Charizard event), but once they're ready the battle is extremely easy. Use one single Calm Mind at the start of the battle, Moonblast until your stat modifications get nullified, now use 6x Calm Mind, terastallize if you can (if not use more Moonblast(s) to charge), and simply more Moonblasts until Palkia goes down.
You can use a healing cheer if you end up paralyzed by Thunder, but there's plenty of time so you can even ignore it and let your walking bouquet miss a couple of turns, without fear of being kicked out. You can 100% ignore burns from Fire Blasts too, as it doesn't have any effect on your special attack and you heal much much faster than the chip damage it deals.
If you want to be safer you can bring moves like Draining Kiss, Wish, or Synthesis for emergency healing, but again you could literally do this battle with 2 moves only >:)
More info
Other useful things you may want to know.
-the natures seem fixed (Quiet for Dialga, Modest for Palkia). The IVs apparently not, though. They will have 4 stats at random with max IVs, and the other 2 with random IVs. I didn't reset a lot but I think the IV spread is fixed as long as the location is (in other words: if you're looking for a different IV spread, you have to change the date - or wait for it to change by itself. If you save in front of the den - or, really, anywhere - the IV spread is fixed again, and needs another date change to change again). Keep it in mind if you're looking for certain stats.
-they do not have their signature moves yet (will learn them at a higher level)
-their ability is basically useless in these raids, so pretend they don't have one
-I didn't mention that Dialga also has Trick Room (it actually works to your favor if you bring Azumarill, but only for the first 5 turns) and Stealth Rock (deals some damage upon reentering from a ko, not much of a problem unless you bring like. A Talonflame. Do not bring a Talonflame).
-advanced trick for Dialga: if you think you're going to die on the next turn (let's say you are at 10HP left, no sp.def. boost, and you can't be sure Heal Up will bring you back to over half HP): you try and terastallize. If you're lucky, Dialga will kill you with Steel Beam instead of Earth Power or Fire Blast, and the doubled damage to you (because of your type change) will mean double recoil damage to itself. If you're EXTRA lucky and Azumarill acts first you can also get more direct damage from a tera-boosted Play Rough. Not a game changer but anything helps!
-Dialga again (sorry that's the one from the version I own so I had more time to mess with it, lol): Dudunsparce, Umbreon, BELLIBOLT, and Mudsdale npc allies are... not as necessary as with Mewtwo, but definitely very very welcome

Shouto’s Ice-Type Team:
Ninetales (Alolan variant): Ice/Fairy
Glaceon: Ice
Frosslass: Ice/Ghost

Sho’s team is basically the most regal-looking ice types I could think of
Both he and Touya have Froslass on their teams to reference their relationship. Froslass is a dual-type pokemon (Ice/Ghost), so it links them very well
If the character’s typing matched an eeveelution currently available, I tried to fit them on the team
He has one regional variant, one eeveelution, one fossil pokemon, and a legendary
Eijirou’s Rock-Type Team:
Golem: Rock/Ground
Rampardos: Rock
Coalossal: Rock/Fire
Lycanroc (Midnight form): Rock
Commentary:
He enjoys the classics, so I strayed from fancy forms or variants
Except for Lycanroc’s midnight form, because its red, and he’s RED riot
Also I think a wolfish pokemon really suits him anyway
He likes heavy hitters, but if he plays their movesets smart, they can become the fastest bunch on the field too (especially Golem and Coalossal)
Katsuki’s Fire-Type Team:
Charizard: Fire/Flying
Flareon: Fire
Houndoom: Fire/Dark
Talonflame: Fire/Flying
Commentary:
Like Ei, also likes the classics, so I didn’t give him flashy forms or variants
Chuffed that Ei opted for only 4 pokemon, rather than 5
Unwilling to be bested, he also opted to only use 4 pokemon, because how dare Kiri outshine him
Says he didn’t want a flashy team, but has a Charizard
But it matches his attitude
Ochako’s Fairy-Type Team:
Azumarill: Fairy/Water
Togekiss: Fairy/Flying
Sylveon: Fairy
Tinkaton: Fairy/Steel

Of course, she fits the fairy aesthetics very well
All fairy types are super cut and pack a punch (just like my sweet girl)
I think she has an impressive range of typing
Iron Valiant is a tribute to her internship with that one pro-hero who taught her how to fight lol

Honestly, I think he just wanted a gag team, but ended up with a really fast bunch
It would be really fuckin annoying to battle. There’s plenty of opportunity for speed set ups/reductions, poisonings. His battle style is definitely more in line with stalling and waiting until your out of options before he slowly chips at your team’s health and morale
He has a really great type coverage for a bug team
I was gonna give him Surskit for the interesting dual-type, but then I remembered Araquanid existed and replaced him instead.
Also I think he just really loved the arachnid pokemon. For obvious reasons.
Has Pheromosa because he has definitely seen NSFW art of the pokemon and wanted it on his team.
Hitoshi’s Psychic-Type Team:
Hypno: Psychic
Espeon: Psychic
Metagross (Shiny form): Psychic/Steel
Gothitelle: Psychic/Dark
Lunala: Psychic/Ghost

Lapras was originally on Sho’s team, but I decided I wanted Ninetales on the team instead (they don’t have a dual-type crossing, but I just liked the idea of spreading out the generations of the individuals on each team)
Politoed is here because I think its a good homage to her canon quirk. There are a lot of frog pokemon, but I think Politoed is the most... in-line with Tsu’s personality
Samurott is an homage to her internship as well. I forgot his name, but he’s here lol
Kyouka’s Dark-Type Team:

Sableye: Dark/Ghost
Thievul: Dark
Meowscarada: Dark/Grass

Honestly, I just wanted her to have dark pokemon that looked like they would be part of a bank heist

Lopunny (Shiny mega form): Normal/Fighting
Diggersby: Normal/Ground
Bewear: Normal/Fighting
Commentary:
Wanted the E4 to have really hard-to-beat teams, so I put in alternate forms, and at least 1 mega on each team
I’m tickled by the fact that she leads with an Eevee and makes you believe you have this battle in the bag from jump
But then she has an absolute unit of a team behind it
Lopunny is here because why wouldn’t I give the bunny girl a bunny pokemon
Also Diggersby is basically the unofficial Lopunny cheerleader so I had to put him here, too
Kai’s Poison-Type Team:
Nidoking: Poison/Ground
Gengar (Shiny mega form): Poison/Ghost
Scolipede: Poison/Bug
Toxtricity: (Amped form): Poison/Electric
Grafaiai: Poison/Normal
Commentary:
He’s the poison E4 member because he’s a germaphobe. Made sense he would use a poison team on unsuspecting challengers

Touya’s Ghost-Type Team:
Drifblim: Ghost/Flying
Froslass: Ghost/Ice
Chandelure: Ghost/Fire
Mimikyu: Ghost/Fairy

Touya’s was probably the funnest to put together
Ghost type is an homage to his canon backstory
Drifblim has an ability called “Aftermath.” When you kill it, it explodes and weakens your pokemon on the field. I think this pokemone especially fits the trajectory of Touya’s arc in canon (if it goes the way I want it to)
Mimikyu envies Pikachu. Its name is literally “mimic you” and wears a sheet with a Pikachu caricature on it. Considering Touya’s showdown with Sho and the phosphorous technique being copied, I figured this pokemon was in line with that canon
Chandelure is a dual Ghost/Fire type (ghost for the backstory, fire for the quirk)
Froslass links him n Sho
Gholdengo was supposed to be a gag. I just wanted a gold pokemon in his team to reference his manga colors. Its still a Ghost type though
Doesn’t have a pokemon with a mega evolution form, but he does have a legendary, so I guess that makes up for the lack of a team gimmick
Keigo’s Flying-Type Team:
Pidgeot (Mega form): Flying/Normal
Ho-Oh: Flying/Fire
Salamence: Flying/Dragon
Noivern: Flying/Dragon
Flamigo: Flying/Fighting

He likes the fast and strong pokemon, so I gave him a mega, a legendary, a pseudo legendary, a dragon, and a gag pokemon that’s actually really good?

Idk much about pokemon but my favorite is sylveon!! I have a sylveon in Pokémon go and I named her Madoka because I had just finished Madoka Magica

Back at it again with water gym leader nene !! Her signature mon is lumineon ! No mega because there’s only like 3 water type megas and they’re ugly and hard to draw and none of them make sense for nene anyways
On a side note I’m proud of the outfit i came up with :) it was hard to figure out how to incorporate her original colors + blue into something new but i did it i think
Reasons behind the team:
-lumineon bc its the most similar to the fish she turns into

GOD fav pokemon is hard... my first pkmn game was ruby on gba and my team was always, no matter how many time i restarted, gardevoir, sceptile, azumarill, flygon, pelipper and then aggron or altaria... so these are favs.

ok comrade i will tell u about rin and her Blue Boys
i must clarify this was EARLY STAGE so there isnt any hidden art or anything i wasn’t on the grind yet…you will get a yukirin essay at the end
i guess the most interesting one would be muramasa. rin was my first catch and even till the end if their relationship was platonic he has always prioritized her and treasured her and saw her as the only one who could fill the role he left. she was very weak to start and he ended up leading the team a lot so i was thinking about how when she if and when she evolved and became stronger she’d finally sort of realize all that hes done…i guess i decided not to because it didnt feel so mutually beneficial? and, while cute, i didnt think it helped develop rin well. most of my friends were on board with this tho
the other was my azumarill lucas who i eventually boxed (didn’t need two water types) but when it was just the squad of her, muramasa, and him, they were two idiots and muramasa had the only brain cell. good buddies. i just thought their combined idiocy was cute but i dont think i ever gave it serious consideration like i did her and muramasa.
the reasoning for yukirin was kind of dumb at first, i just found it cute how they were both the tiniest members of my team and thought about how with how RUDE and NASTY he was as a woobat nobody on the team dared approach him, but rin is a go-getter. shes a good mix of understanding and ‘i am going to tell you to shut up’ so obviously she was the only option to me when i thought about how in story terms he’d ‘evolve’ per say by friendship. she was still looking for a sun stone by the time she met him, so she actually had a plan to help him with his issue with friendship if he stuck around and helped her find a stone…well he evolved first, actually quite a bit first. he didn’t call off the deal, which surprised her, and he was also surprised SHE didn’t call off the deal out of her own frustration…by that point i think there was just a mutually unsaid sense of comfort within eachothers’ presence and it didn’t become about any sort of deal, she was just happy she saw the best in him despite his difficulty with others (he’s a real sweetie now so its ok) and gained someone she loves in the process :) shes matured a lot being around him oddly enough; she was a bit entitled for a while and blamed her weaknesses on external factors, but now she finally has someone shes determined to protect. yuki after a life of unhealthy friendships that felt more parasitic than genuine, where he was used to most people getting to know him for their own benefit, as well as who he knew for his own benefit, he finally learned to begin trusting others and even just beginning to know the feeling of WANTING to be with another person…i had planned to have her help him evolve irregardless of rin’s end pairing, but i just thought they really just bounced off eachother well and are more mutually beneficial than rin with anyone else, and i could also just see him rlly falling for her. corny but true

gasps!!!! i love these but im super bad at them :’(connor would be the protagonistRK800-60 the self-proclaimed rival but ends up never being considered so by connor rather a friend who he always needs to help bc he makes a lot of disasters (there’s a touching moment towards the half series finale where RK800-60 loses a big battle and cries and promises to become stronger AND ACTUALLY SUCCEEDS)RK900 is the cool aloof rival who seems sketchy and almost evil, probably gets in fact tricked by the evil team but join forces with connor and saves the day, THEY ALL join forces even RK800-60 and be good friends from that moment onanyway this requires a good answer like a full team but am i that bitch? idk i’ll try my besti’ll go with the boys™ as androids ofc
