#Better drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #lan wangji #digital art #This was a style experimentation doodle that took on a life of its own.#In a way it is a great example of 'beautiful failure'. The original goal was to try a pure black and white contrast piece.#Which I very much failed at doing. Not quite ready for that! However what this turned into is something I like a lot!#Different but in a way that really pushed me as an artist. A little less simple; a little more proportional.#I was also recently thinking about LWJ's grieving that we only catch glimpses of.#LWJ grieved his first love for 13 years. His love that was never reciprocated.#He chose to dedicate his heart to that mourning and most painfully of all - he did so knowing there was no end to that grief.#Wei Wuxian comes back to life in MDZS but that is an exception. Not the expectation.#He was dead. Not missing. Not 'maybe in hiding'. He was dead and his spirit unreachable.#Jiang Cheng went forwards with denial but LWJ takes that grief on. He copes by continuing to carry the weight with him.#Let me be clear. Neither are healthy approaches. It is a way to cope but it does not mean that is healing or healthy.#Grief is loved transformed but it is also about endurance and letting go. Grief can change you. You can also change your grief.#It isn't a good or evil thing to experience. It is just an experience.

Just Admit It- Part 1

I've been playing around with possible friendship dynamics of the Beast Council for fun!! I love imagining what kind of childhood they could have in the Forgotten Land all together.

What if Carol and Sillydillo are the fun-loving extroverts? Leon is the introverted one who's been smitten by Carol for a really really long time but he's too shy about it? And Gori is the friend who is an excellent observer and will bluntly tell you what he thinks (and maybe has a tendency to get grumpy when things aren't easily going his way).

Somewhat of a prequel to this other doodle comic about Leon and Carol- everyone here is still a kid ^_^

#I know beast pack headcanons are so wildly up to interpretation! there's a few canon personality traits and lots of space to fill in betwee #I also just love stories about a group of lifelong friends all doing their best!#so why not play around with them and see what kind of stories about love and friendship they might experience? heehee.#and not all of them are about just Leon and Carol I have other plans!! this is just one of the first ones I have :P #these are quick and very self indulgent but I hope they can still be enjoyable hehe #friend squads for the win!!#also I feel like I draw the beast council a little differently every time I try lol. after getting back into AT as an adult, I've come to realize that it was also "guilty" of most of the same sins that people religiously hated SU for, and now I'm just mad lol

#note that this isn't me trying to disparage adventure time at all cause I love this show to death #almost if not as much as I love steven universe #but both shows have a lot of the same 'problems'. inconsistent character proportions? check. storyboard driven writing? check.#story beats introduced but only picked back up many episodes later? check. a story about war that's not 'really' about war? check #if anything su's narrative is a lot tighter. at was a very 'fuck u I'm only gonna have an overarching plot when I feel like it' kind of show #which was just as much a strength as it was occasionally a folly mind you #but that exact sort of meandering walking-speed storytelling was what su got an insane amount of heat for.#and it's not at all difficult to see why one show became the internet's punching bag & the other didn't despite having some similar issues #at #adventure time #su #steven universe #fandom bs

I've been ping-ponging the idea of a Frankenstein inspired Talon!Dick fic, but I need to read more Court of Owls things to feel confident in writing it. In any case, this scene would not quit, so I drew it instead ♡

#trying not to freak out about the proportions im so 🫠🫠🫠#anyway the basic idea is dick dying either by surprise or via sacrifice In Bruce's arms and its Devastating (because i love him suffering)#he's a wreck for a few years before he goes up against the Court and their mysterious new assassin - spoiler alert: its Dick re-animated #who has a foggy memory of a lot of things but not enough #love the idea of him like ignoring his brainwashing slash mush brain and deciding to come back to the manor #and everyone jokes about him joining the dead robins club or whatever but no one thinks its actually funny #(because he looks w r o n g - is a little wrong. the pallor is too strong the eyes not blue anymore the skin too cold)#and maybe they fall into bed for the first time because there are too many all encompassing feelings - which is also agonizing #BECAUSE !!! how much time did they lose Before and it took actual death ??? for them to come together #AGONIZING.
