I love when I write a post criticizing a show or a video game or whatever and then I get some starry eyed stan who's like Well Aktually, the writer was clearly INTENDING to do this all along and actually it's YOU who just doesn't understand what they were trying to do-
you don't have fucking evidence of that.
you're entirely building up the story on your own, while the actual writer is doing none of the hard work.
you're projecting a deeper story that doesn't exist, and getting mad because someone else is pointing out the flaws of the existing story.
and it's because you have written this elaborate story of your own IN YOUR HEAD and mistaken it for the writers' story.
and thus, you see me criticizing THEIR STORY as me criticizing you.
and I am right now, but it's not the elaborate hallucination part that bothers me, it's the fact that you don't even know you're hallucinating.
you can like a flawed story, I don't know when we all decided that a story had to be flawless for us to like it. but pretending your story is flawless- that's a good one. no story is without flaw.
and some are riddled with mistakes so egregious that you go off the deep end trying to justify all of them- just chill. just shrug.
it makes sense that there is no human story that is flawless, because none of us are without flaws.
