Welp, I've been thinking about this since you sent it and I feel I won't do it justice! I feel like I could say a lot if I went chapter by chapter, but many tabs of unread fics stare back at me. I'll skim and try to say something, though.

Some commentary on say it's here where our pieces fall in place under the cut! I am sick and rambly. And lbr I can never shut up anyway, but this might be too incoherent even for me. (Original ask post here)

It was sort of an unofficial NaNoWriMo project, in that I set myself a goal to tackle “longer fics” or ideas I wanted to cover but hadn't. From my notes, I had this idea to write a ficlet per year because I always enjoy this kind of story, and I know I'd tried to approach different ones in the past. I started writing in late October/finished in Nov 2021. (The other fic I started was never finished, even if dammit, it hits.) I posted it in January, so it wasn't that bad, considering I'll often take months.

It's maybe important to note that I had only finished writing “The Monster (affectionate)” (aka the 148k-ish word IM AU) in early September and I felt a bit burned out after spending five months writing that (would’ve been less but the struggle was real for the last third of the story. Oddly reminiscing of you-know-what story these days). This arbitrary deadline helped me get back into writing. Granted, I wrote a couple of fics in those five months, but I wanted to try another multichapter.

Anyway. I picked some random, perhaps not obvious choices for the vignettes. It was partly to avoid writing something I might have potentially covered at one point, and also a challenge. Some are also strange (the dream!), but I kinda loved it? (Fun fact: the fic references the Sherry-Netherland, whose exterior is the establishing shot in Internal Displacement. I swear there is some thought put into my writing.) And as the A/N I wrote to myself, I definitely wrote and rewrote bits and pieces of this on my way to and from therapy, haha.

Let me find a fun fact about each of the chapters, if I can think of any.

1998: actually repurposed some campaign fic idea I distinctly remember writing in spring 2018, while I was still in uni. It also has GLOVES. I live for that.

1999: I like the idea of exploring Danny and Abbey's relationship! They presumably have a good one and yet, I don't think we ever see them interact. (And god. Danny's recent, pre-campaign breakup is a recurring theme in my campaign stories too, loool.)

2000: Danny and Josh are an underrated friendship, and I like the references to Rosslyn. There was so much in those months in Midterms that we didn't see, and I like thinking Danny visited his friend.

We also got two back-to-back chapters focused on Danny - I remember trying to make it even, so that the focus was more or less evenly split.

2001: the Manchester fuckup! And it's one of the dream chapters! There were two of them? (We're 3 out of 4 in which I was surprised by the focus, but now I kinda want to re-read it all properly?) I'll say that I can see some vague, unconscious inspo from Freefall by KadeeFalls in this chapter (esp since I was just talking to you about it)... But I'm mostly obsessed with the magical realism (there's another term that my foggy brain cannot think of rn) of dreams, and how it can help us clear our heads.

2002: I remembered this was set after Simon! I know it's probably an odd, controversial choice but they both tried to move on (at least, we know CJ did), and it felt disingenuous not to include it. There are moments when she almost admits to her previous (?) feelings for Danny, but stops.

As with most thus far, there were fluffier and probably better choices for 2002 (Christmas!!), but... My brain wanted it to appear like CJ couldn't really bring herself to think about Danny.

2003: Aw, the specialty store is inspired by a franchise over here that had Goldfish (not many flavors) and I took a dramatic license and added it over there. I also added a small flashback because I love thinking Danny doesn't think they're all that but likes them. (But will tease CJ about it.) Plus, some more resolution to moving on!

2004: Yeah, the formatting is weird. (This is one I'd have to go back and do a blockquote or something.) Danny winning a Pulitzer for the Shareef stuff is a mostly accepted headcanon. CJ seeing his picture on the paper and having feels is just something I love, especially if he mentions someone else. (Look. I'm all for letting him pine, but he deserves to move on and fail too.) Plus Josh teasing her!

2005: The Sherry-Netherland! fwiw, I'm sure I had finally figured out this was the place and decided it would be so cheeky to add it here. I'm so sMaRt. Flowers when she gets promoted! And my spin (in this story) of CJ vaguely shunning him. This is the angst before the fluff.

2006: I remembered this one was a dream at some restaurant! (Again the formatting is not great, but I didn't want to tip my obvious hand.) The same way I think CJ's dream in 2001 was about her wondering how Danny would have reacted, this is about Danny realizing he needs to reach out to her... But with the added family ~tale~. Def inspired by that lyric in "Sad Beautiful Tragic."

2007: I feel like having it at some random dinner with Josh and Donna was an odd choice, but I loved the idea of a double date! The scarf scene is just so! And the chaos siblings energy is great. It was a reprieve from the angst.

Meeting at LAX was right there! I had written a story or two trying to do it justice, so I'm guessing that's why it's not. And fwiw the airport story I wrote shortly after that is the one being posted ~soon~. (A rewritten, slightly expanded version.)

2008: Pregnancy mood swings! It hurt to make them fight, but it's so fluffy otherwise. From what I remember, it has various references to things that happen in the story (particularly from the first two chapters) but it still manages to close it rather nicely, showing how strong their marriage is. I hope.

Okay. This has gotten way too long and it's probably useless.

I've always said I could have written another 11 chapters using different scenes, because there are just so many, even outside the obvious ones... Though I feel I wouldn't be able to recapture the magic.

I do definitely want to reread this for real. As with many fics, it's one of those I used to reread often before posting it (especially the last quarter/third) and then just ignored after. See some other recent examples, such as memoir fic, Portland fic.

Graham Coxon Allegations: Part 1

(Masterpost)

This post is to serve as an archive of evidence known about Graham and his alleged predatory behavior with his young fans.

It's been almost a year since the allegations against Graham came out. However, it must be noted that they existed well before Britpop Abuse made an account on Instagram in Nov 2021. We have been Blur fans since 2004, I've been privvy to most of Graham's online presence during that time and friends with those who knew him during the early twitter days when he was much more public with his egregious behavior with fans.

I had a friend who was hurt by Graham. I haven't spoken to her in years and she doesn't talk about it. I witnessed it. It haunted me how cruel he was to her. He love bombed her, he wrote songs for her, I saw them flirt. We all knew he only replied to girls with attractive profile pics but we hoped it was just in our heads. This was early 2010's. Allegations came out shortly after from a close friend I trusted who was close to him that he was allegedly DMing girls "his daughter's age." She only told our friend group, that I'm aware of.

I didn't want to believe it at the time. But after seeing his behavior on twitter and hearing that allegation I had to take a break from the fandom for a couple of years.

When I came back, my old friends caught me up on everything that had happened. They said that something very bad had happened (vaguely) and Graham was giving his socials over to management or something. I saw G had announced he was having or had kids with Essy. I buried the allegations in the back of my mind, 100%. I admit that now. I didn't want to lose my fandom writing and so while I knew about Graham's behavior I assumed that he had settled down with Essy (esp because his twitter interaction with fans had vastly changed to being more appropriate).

In 2013, something went down because of three Mexican fans: Mirja, Michelle, and Scarlett. Many remember them as toxic and known for making up lies. They liked Gramon and roleplaying and reading fan fic. They told their friends that they were DMing & dating Graham & Damon and everyone thought they were crazy.

These are personal chats bpa didn't want me to post but I am because they need to be in order for people to see the dynamic between him and these girls much, much younger than him.

There was jealousy - both Michelle & Scarlett liked Graham too, but he only loved Michelle. He said he would marry her if the age gap wouldn't look so bad. Graham would complain about his family to Michelle. He would get mad at Scarlett for being jealous of his and Michelle's relationship.

We also know that around this time Graham was not sober and was photographed drunk in public. He recently confirmed this in an interview that he was not sober until around 2016.

Mirja and Scarlett still talk to Graham. In fact, they are the people who go to bat for him when the allegations happened. The video of the Hangouts chats that pissy.water posted as "proof the Google chats were fake" - that's Mirja's hand in the video the email shown in the "debunking" hangouts video is the same email she uses for her fandom roleplay account. All the "I have a source" pro-Graham people were talking to Mirja.

Graham came back into Mirja's life right around the same time as Essy and G split and G flew back to London abandoning his kid and Essy in L.A. Mirja pathologically lies constantly. She's pretended to be multiple accounts now, even made up personas in her head to talk about her real self. She's a dangerous person who has spread a lot of misinformation about the allegations under alt accounts. As a scapegoat it's perfect, because if she ever said anything about Graham, fans would just call her crazy because of how she lies. She has no believability. It's the perfect situation for him. The joke of it all is this is terribly very real.

Mirja used to go by Mirja Lolita which is gross knowing what age they first started talking to G to say the least.

That's all I can fit here for now.

I would have hoped that at this point Mirja and Scarlett would realize how fucked up this all is. But I don't think they care. They care about the little bits of attention he gives them while he's not living his fake life. 30...ya'll should know better.

Personal Background:

I like to think I am pretty open minded and I love to receive questions/Thirsts. I might be slow on doing written requests, but I am always happy to talk!

I have been writing and roleplaying since I was a preteen, so I have been at both for more than 10 years. I have seen and read most of my life regarding fanfiction, so I’m pretty open to all types of fanfics. I’ve been in many fandoms both small and large, toxic and quiet.

I work full time and I am going to school part time. I also have a nearly 9 month old Husky(August 2021), so I often get busy. I'm someone who grew up in an abusive household so I have always used fanfiction, books, roleplay, and fandoms to escape and as I got older it became a fun hobby and quite a passion. So, I just have fun with writing when I can.

I'm pretty open if you want to ask me any questions about my life, if you want to send me Thirsts/kink smut requests. I'm from the old days of literotica, Wattpad, Fanfiction.net, MM.org, and I am on AO3.

I've also written a lot for crossovers in the past for older fandoms such as Fruits Basket, Inuyasha, OHSHC, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc.

One hundred and fifty fics. My mind is blown.

The variety of these fics is unbelievable.

There’s fics for every type of fandom, for every size fandom, for every type of pairing, for so many different tropes. There’s AUs up the whazoo, there’s canon compliance. There’s genfic, there’s explicit, there’s friendship, there’s angst, there’s fluff. There’s fics showing diagnosis, complications, technology, doctor visits, everday diabetic life. There’s fics where the diabetic character is the undefeated hero, fics where the diabetic is the one getting rescued, fics where the diabetic is a bystander to the drama, there’s fics where nothing dramatic or exciting happens at all and everyone is happy.

If you want a particular something, there’s a good chance it shows up at least once. And the more the collection grows, the more variety we get!

Derek Hale Appreciation Week 2021 Day 7:

Sunday Nov 28 - Dealer’s Choice // Sadness

(Will likely write a full fic for this eventually)

Killing Peter was simultaneously one of the hardest things I’ve had to do and worryingly easy to do. I know he deserved it, that it needed to happen. But he was still the only family I had left. I expected it to be harder than killing Paige, but oddly it’s not. I worry what that means about me.

“Derek you’re freaking out, stop. It’ll probably affect you more when things settle, but even if it doesn’t there is nothing to freak you out about. It was sadly necessary and you’ll deal with it in your own time, don’t rush it.”

I whip my head towards him and really he must be right since I didn’t even know he was there.

“What are you doing here?”

“I’ll tell you the truth only because you’ll know if I lie. I felt the need to check on you. So I didn’t even question it, I just did it.”

“That’s weird because I’m pretty sure you hate me.”

“I don’t hate you, I never did, I just didn’t trust you in the beginning. Though you do hate me. Which isn’t new.”

“I don’t hate you. You just annoy me.”

“Oh. Well then I’m going to tell you something that might help you digest what happened. My mother got sick and eventually she forgot that she ever had a child. She thought I was a demon sent to kill her. She tried to kill me five times before my father found out and put her into the hospital. I never hated her for it. She did what she felt she had to.”

“How is that supposed to help the situation of me actually killing my uncle?”

“Your sane family and possibly even Peter will understand you did what you had to do. It sucks completely and I get that. But it was what needed to be done. It was necessary and it was better it being you, than it being Scott. I love that boy I do, but he’d make a shit Alpha.”

“You really believe that?”

“Yes. Scott is kind of a shit werewolf as it is. He does not need the upgrade. The bite was wasted on him. He hates it but exploits it to his advantage.”

“That’s really aware of you. To see that. Despite him being your best friend.”

“I’ve never been blinded, well not in that kind of way. I know his faults. Just like I can understand Peter but know that he also deserved what got to him. He was mostly feral and insane, though I’m not totally sure how bad it was. Because he offered me the bite and actually took no for an answer despite saying I was lying.”

“Do you want the bite though? Just not from him? That could be why it read as a lie.”

“I’m not sure honestly. I don’t think I know what I want. Part of me wants to stay human, but part of me thinks Peter wasn’t wrong when he said I’d make a great wolf. At least much better than Scott.”

“I also think you could make a great wolf, you’re already fairly wolflike as it is. And you could better keep Scott in check as a wolf. Or become your own person.”

“I don’t think Scott would be okay with me willingly taking the bite, especially from you. But I also think that I need to make my own decisions for once. Because I’m going to be involved either way, whether I’m human or wolf. I’m also not sure I would actually turn into a wolf. I read somewhere that sometimes the shape you take reflects who you are inside. I feel like I’m more of a fox and I’ve read that that is possible. But wouldn’t that not be good?”

“That is possible, but it wouldn’t change anything really.”

“So I wouldn’t be left alone if I end up being another type of were?”

“Never. If I bite you and you want to stay in my Pack, you’d always be welcome.”

“I’ll give it some thought. I can let you know later, right. You’ll be willing to accept me even if I don’t decide now, right?”

“Yes, Stiles. I don’t want you to rush into this decision. You could probably not even let Scott know if you do take me up on my offer. You’d have better control than even me I think. So you could play human until you were ready for people to know.”

“Do you really believe that?”

“Yes, also I think you’re already a little something and it might translate over if you get the bite as well. I think the bite would strengthen the magic you have in you. Since I’m pretty sure that you’re a Spark, which is the only kind of magic that works well with the bite.”

“So that would be really good for us right? I could still do things I normally wouldn’t be able to do as a were, correct? So I could probably still use mountain ash and stuff while being a wolf or whatever I end up being.”

“Exactly what I think. Also that way you really could pretend to be human for as long as you wanted. Because you taught Scott control in a day, something that would have taken me a month if not longer. And now he’s even okay on full moons. So I think you would have control easily, especially since you already have such self control.”

“Are you just saying this because you want to build up your Pack? Or do you really believe it? Also, are you only willing to turn me because you think I’d be useful?”

“I really believe that you would be an asset, but that’s not the only reason I want to turn you. I want to turn you, because like you said you’re going to be involved either way, it’d be better for you to be able to heal like us. I’d feel safer having you around if you were able to heal like us. But I would never force you to get the bite. It would just make me feel less guilty.”

“If I take the bite, I’d want to tell my dad. Though I’d want it to stay in between the three of us. Until I was ready for it to be different.”

“I understand that and I think it might be for the best for your father to be in the know. But Scott won’t be happy, so you’d probably want to tell your dad that he shouldn’t let Scott know that he knows. Because he’ll think that your father will tell his mom, which wouldn’t be a bad idea, but Scott would not be happy.”

“That is a good point. Would you tell my dad with me? As my Alpha, wouldn’t that be something that you should do?”

“Yes, you moron. What happened was not your fault. I know you won’t believe me, at least not yet. But it really wasn’t your fault. You were a child and what she did was on her, not you.”

“You actually believe that. I don’t know how, but I want to believe you. Maybe in time I will be able to believe you.”

“I’ll be willing to tell you until you believe it. Because only after you accept yourself would you be able to truly become the Alpha you’re meant to be. I’d like to help you get to that point.”

“I bit Jackson and I think it was a mistake.”

“His body seems to be rejecting it, but he’s also not dying. So something else might be going on with him. It honestly scares me.”

“That’s what I’m scared of, yeah. None of the things that could mean are good news for us. I’m biting Issac Lahey tonight, his dad is an abusive piece of shit and being a wolf could help him.”

“He’s both a good and terrible choice. Erica Reyes should be next. Or me than them. Do you know who else you’re going to bite?”

“Boyd, I think. Issac said something about him.”

“Okay good to know. I should probably get the bite before Erica, because I think she’s going to come after me slightly. Not intentionally, but because she won’t know and she’ll see me as a loose end of Scott’s.”

“So you’ve decided you want the bite?”

“Yes. As long as you’ll trust me, I think it’ll be a good idea. Though at least in the beginning, I’ll only be on your side behind the scenes.”

“Okay, Stiles. If you’re sure I can bite you now and we can talk to your dad tomorrow.”

“That sounds good to me. I’m pretty sure I’ll be fine on the full moon, but make sure you keep an eye on Issac. He’ll have an extra hard time I believe.”

“Okay.”

I give him the bite and take him home. We’ll see how he is tomorrow. I’ll come see him after biting Issac.

November 5th

It's November 5th which promises chaos, if not in the world, then at least on Tumblr. I decided to lean into it and celebrate the newest Tumblr holiday by removing submission restrictions.

So for the next 24 hours you can submit any fan work, no matter how many comments it already has. You also don't have to comment on another work first.

This event ends on Nov 6th at 10:30am GMT+1 (5:30am EST). So why not submit one of your fanworks or one of your favorite fanworks from other people (with permission of course) that deserve more attention? I'm aware I should probably start planing these events sooner than the morning of the day, but oh well...

Some words of encouragement for all the writers out there whose fics get little attention. As AO3 Comment Of The Day pointed out several times, the amount of kudos and/or comments we get on our stories does not relate to our worth as writers or the quality of our works :)

We shouldn't get discouraged because of a lack of attention. Your fic is someone's favorite fic out there! It's the story someone reads when they're feeling unwell, sad or lonely 🧡💛💚

April is half way over and we got eight submissions so far this month. That is almost as much as we got in the last three months combined, so that is something.

But I would still love to get more submissions and keep growing this blog. Especially since our one year anniversary is coming up next month. And for that I need your help, I really want to improve things around here, so please send me any ideas or suggestions that you think could help. You can send them anonymously if you want. I am open to all ideas.

What would encourage you to submit works? What would encourage you to comment on more works? Which past events/activities did you like? (E.g. Fandom highlights, theme weeks, suspending the comment-first-rule, etc.)

2021 Fic/Writing Goals

Ok, so, I go away for every new years and therefore I totally forgot to do a 2020 wrap up post, but I’m getting back on the writing horse after a crazy Nov/Dec period and wanted to make some commitments!

I was SO proud that in 2020 I came back to fic writing, and published new fic for the first time in a decade (find them here and here!) I am also SUPER proud of both of those fics, and their reception has ABSOLUTELY given me the confidence to keep writing, so thank you so much to everyone for your encouragement. I especially want to thank @sashinalash, @twopoppies and @lululawrence, as well as the rest of the Panic Room GC, for their encouragement, support and cheerleading. I honestly could not have done it without you.

Now, onto the 2021 fic writing goals!!

Overall word count goal

50,000 words - If I write all the fics I plan I will easily make this, but I have learned not to overestimate myself haha. This seems reasonable, with plenty of room for improvement :)

1D Fic:

5x Fest Fic - This is due in 10 days, and I cannot wait to share it with you all. I have had it planned, blocked and (semi) drafted since Oct, so I’m on the home stretch. It is gonna hurt and I’m so sorry/not sorry at all. I wish I could say more. You’re just gonna have to read them all to guess which is mine!!

In Those Years Pt 2 - The second instalment of my In Those Years series, and the follow up to At Risk I Fold, set throughout 2016, is story blocked but not drafted... yet. I am hoping to get it done by the end of the year but this is something I want to take my time on to get right, so it might take me a while. Who knows what will happen to inspire me?!

Melbourne Pubs AU - Another WIP I am sitting on that I am regularly thinking about - who knows if this will be finished this year but I am putting it here because Emma/ @sashinalash keeps egging me on.

SPN Fic

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve kinda fallen deeply back in love with SPN in the past few months (over 12 years since I left the fandom whoops). I have two WIPS that I’m thinking about:

Civilian - WIP - SPN/Generation Kill crossover (Alternate Season 5?) - In which pre-Series Dean joins the marines and goes to iraq, and Sam doesn’t find out until after Lucifer Rising. I have snippets of this written on my phone but it’s a bit all over the place right now. I guess I’ll just HAVE to rewatch Generation Kill (what a chore lmao). Most importantly, though, I have made a playlist, which means I’m serious about getting it done.

Alternate Season 12 WIP - Dean centric (duh) fic in which Amara brings back Charlie instead of Mary at the end of season 11, and lots of character work ensues. A really character based/figuring my shit out fic with lots of characters calling each other out on their bullshit. This will likely take me a while to write but I’m thinking about it a lot.

Dark Angel Fic

People who have been following me for a LONG TIME know that my original fandom is Dark Angel, which I recently rewatched.

Escape and Evade AU WIP - ok, I have had this fic in my head since 2006 - and in my recent rewatch I finally solved how I was going to approach it. This is a deep cut fic that probably no one will read but it is so near and dear to my heart that I am putting it on the writing list anyway.

Dark Angel Character Studies/Episode Codas - I also want to build my repertoire with a bunch of shorter DA character studies in prep for the fic. Putting these here as a goal because I am more likely to finish these than anything else.

Tumblr Drabbles

Last year I published a bunch of my old tumblr drabbles and was surprised by how much I liked them, so I want to get back to taking ask prompts for short fics in any of my active fandoms. Good exercise!

This Isn’t A Ghost Story extras for Chapter 8: The Temple

The eighth and final chapter of This Isn’t A Ghost Story has been posted! You can find it here on AO3 and here on Tumblr. Below the cut are extras for this chapter and a few things for the story over all. I’ve had such fun writing this fic, and hope you’ve all enjoyed reading it and following along with the writing process here too!

Like the previous chapter, chapter 8 is named for the location where it takes place, in this case the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, which is near the Valley of the Kings, Thebes, and modern Luxor, on the west bank of the Nile.

As mentioned in both this chapter and previous chapters, several sections of the temple have stars painted on a blue background on the ceilings:

The ‘towering statue’ Clara comments on is one of a line of statues depicting the pharaoh Hatshepsut as the god Osiris, only a few of which are still standing:

I came across the Temple of Hatshepsut fairly early in my writing process, when I was looking into what archaeological dig sites were active in the 1910s and 1920s. This photo from the late 1920s shows the continuing work going on in the area (that’s the Temple at the back left), and served as part of the inspiration for Clara’s memory of finding the Doctor at a dig site in Thebes in 1921:

About a month into writing This Isn’t A Ghost Story, I was grappling with the detail of Clara’s wedding ring, based on the poll results you guys gave me. I had been toying with going with an emerald for her ring, since emeralds have some interesting ties to ancient Egypt, but I also really wanted to go the route of a TARDIS-blue sapphire, and in particular a star sapphire really appealed to me, for its look and its symbolism. The results of that little impromptu poll clearly pointed to a star sapphire -- but also suggested I tie it into the world-building somehow.

Those two elements came together in my head rather abruptly when I remembered the star ceiling at the Temple of Hatshepsut, and after digging into the history of Hatshepsut, I realized it worked almost too well. On 28 June this final epilogue chapter sprang into being in basically the form you see it in here, baring a few edits I’ve made to it in the three months (!!) since then.

As the Doctor says in this chapter, the Temple was designed and overseen by Hatshepsut’s head advisor Senenmut, and many modern Egyptologists do in fact believe that the two may have been lovers during Hatshepsut’s time as pharaoh. While there are many stylized statues of Senenmut (including a few of him with Hatshepsut’s daughter, to whom he served as primary tutor), archaeologists have also found ostracons, chips of limestone that ancient artists used as throw-away sketching surfaces, that depict Senenmut in what he more likely looked like in life:

And then there’s Hatshepsut herself, who is depicted in numerous different ways throughout art and statuary, sometimes shown as more typically male in her role as pharaoh, but more often shown in what Egyptologists believe she looked like in life -- large eyes, full cheeks, and a small chin:

Once my brain made that connection, I really couldn’t let it go.

I had originally planned to end the story with the sequence in the Cairo museum that eventually became chapter 7, but the connection between Clara and the Doctor and the real historical Hatshepsut and Senenmut -- with the added parallel of Senenmut as tutor and guardian of Hatshepsut’s daughter corresponding to the Doctor watching over Margot in Ghost Story, even -- was just too good to pass up.

Senenmut’s tomb is as the Doctor described it, with the oldest known astronomical ceiling of any tomb or temple in Egypt:

His tomb is very near to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, and tunnels into the cliffside such that it is extremely close to Hatshepsut’s own tomb, which is entered from the Valley of the Kings, on other side of that mountainous area. This has only further fueled speculation that the two were very much in love -- as pharaoh, Hatshepsut had to have her tomb built in the Valley of the Kings, and as a commoner Senenmut couldn’t be buried there. But they could design their tombs such that they would be as close as possible to each other, even if the entrances are miles apart.

Part of my goal with this final chapter was to give a hint at a larger story that this version of Clara and the Doctor are just a part of. I left the possibility that they had once been Hatshepsut and Senenmut intentionally open-ended, so the reader can make their own decision. They might have been, they might not have been, but in the end what matters is that they are together and in love now.

Similarly I also wanted to make allusions to both Doctor Who canon -- Senenmut as an ancient astronomer, and Clara’s comments about travelling the stars together in their next life -- as well as the wide variety of fanfiction that exists for this ship. In a way there are thousands of versions of them scattered about out there, finding each other and falling in love over and over again. This Isn’t A Ghost Story doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it’s part of a much larger multi-layered story that is constantly being told and re-told. And in many ways, that’s what I love best about fanfiction versus any other genre of fiction.

The process of writing this story has been so interesting and rewarding, frustrating at times and huge amounts of fun at other points. With this final chapter posted, This Isn’t A Ghost Story is officially the first multi-chapter, non-series fanfic I have ever actually finished, in more than a decade of posting fanfiction online. This is the first time I’ve made myself wait to start posting a story until it’s nearly complete, and I documented more about my process thoughts here on Tumblr than I have for anything I’ve written previously.

It has been a fantastic nearly four month journey, and so much of that is down to the lovely interactions with those of you reading, both here and over on AO3. From the early interest many of you expressed way back at the beginning of June, to the comments and cheerleading on my #process thoughts posts throughout the summer, to all the many wonderful and humbling comments on the story on AO3, I could not have made this journey without you guys. With what a strange, stressful, and often depressing year 2020 has been, I know that when I look back on this year, this is what I’m going to remember the best, taking this journey along with all of you.

@tounknowndestinations had asked about the timeline I worked out for the entire story, that I’ve been keeping under wraps for fear of spoilers. Originally this started as just a way to keep straight how many years had passed -- ‘do I say eighty-six years here, or eighty-seven??’ etc -- but eventually ballooned from there to cover the entire narrative, and even some of the timeline that is only hinted at in places. This is its final form in my working googledoc:

1885: the House is built

February 1899: Clara the 1st is born

13 May 1921: the Doctor and Clara the 1st meet in Cairo, she is 22, he is 46

12 May 1923: the Doctor and Clara the 1st marry in Glasgow, she is 24, he is 48

August 1925: purchase of the House

23 Nov 1927: the Doctor dies, age 52

21 August 1928: Margot is born

1991: at 5 years old, Clara tells Ellie and Margot about the ghost

yeah, for sure! this is such a fun question! there are a few I'm keeping a secret for now just as far as birthdays and holidays go but I'd be happy to go over some of the ones I've got almost finished! (I have over 25 wips but you can find some of them here!) thank you for asking!

#1. charlie’s angels inspired au posting: october 2020 | estimated word count: 25k | implied b!L

this one (if I can find the time to finish it!) is set to come out sometime in October so hopefully soon! louis is the brains, harry’s the charm, liam’s the muscle, and niall drives the getaway car. zayn makes an appearance as well :) I've never written anything quite like this before and I'm super excited to see if ya’ll like it! it’s not enemies to lovers since they’re all super close friends but each character has a bit of a backstory that tangles them all together!

#2. look after you iii posting: ?? 2020 | estimated wc: 50k | b!L

this series has been one of my favorites to write and I love these characters so so much. the first and second book were past and present, and this third one will be about the future. it’s got adoption and married life and fluff and angst and allllll of the kinkiness from the others as well! this one’s important to me because I was adopted as well and I've seldom seen that as a big theme in fics. it won’t be for everyone but I'm hoping it resonates with some of you!

#3. the blff’s posting: nov. - dec. 2020 | estimated wc’s: 40k & 30k | b!L

this is the first year that I've gotten to participate in the blff and I’m so excited!! I absolutely adore both of my prompts (#411 and #322) and I hope to do the prompters justice! #411 is the smoking one that I just recently posted a snippet from and everyone seems to be very excited for it! harry’s a psych major and decides to help Louis get over his oral fixation with something else ;) featuring roommates and best friends to lovers! #322 is a dom/sub prompt where Louis’ nervous after being matched with a younger dom (harry) but of course he goes above and beyond his expectations. that one has been so so interesting to write because I really dived deep into the dynamic. I can’t wait to see what everyone else puts out for the fest as well!

#4. stem major louis posting: ?? 2020 | estimated wc: 45k | b!L

this is an idea I had that I've been working on off and on for nearly a year now. it’s stem major Louis who’s dedicated his entire studies to proving that love doesn’t exist. enter philosophy major harry. lots of nerdy conjecture and debate etc.. I've really enjoyed doing the research for this one! definitely some enemies to lovers vibes as well ;)

#5. sitcom au posting: 2021 | estimated wc: 50k - 100k | b!L

I am sooooooooo excited about this one. it’s a friends-esque setting with the cast members as the five boys. the storyline follows all of them (but mainly h&l) as they film all of the seasons of the show and also navigate their own lives and trauma and healing. I don’t want to give too much away but there are some enemies to lovers elements... kind of... as well as angst and character development and the works. but also just a lot of friendship and growing up and all of that good stuff! I like to write things I feel like I can relate to and this one has just been an endless source of happiness for me recently. I can’t wait for you guys to read it!

and then for some that I have in my list to write but haven’t gotten around to yet:

#1. modern day fairytales

I'm obsessed with the idea of taking fairytales and twisting them to fit realistically into today’s society. I think a series on each of the classic fairytales (beauty and the beast, the little mermaid, etc.) could be really really cool!

#2. ghost writer Louis

Louis is someone’s ghost writer traveling with them as a friend even though no one’s supposed to know that he’s actually writing the songs for the artist. harry’s the opening act on tour with them and is Louis’ secret muse, but things get confusing when harry thinks it’s the artist that’s writing the songs so clearly directed toward him. cue angst and pining and all of that good stuff.

#3. grease au

loosely inspired grease au with a twist! harry is excited to see him at school after their summer of romance but louis thinks he’s too good for harry. (preppy louis vs ‘wrong side of tracks’ harry).

#4. until marriage fic

Louis wants to wait until marriage to have sex. harry comes up with some clever ways to circumvent this plan.

#5. PWP’s & drabbles

there are a TON of these on my list, including but not limited to: gentle dentist harry x nervous louis | sunflower farmer harry x tourist louis | louis with chronic hiccups x annoyed at first but then endeared harry | bookshop owner louis x bibliophile harry | proposal drabble inspired by ross’ dream proposal from friends at the planetarium (scientist harry) | bdsm club voyeurism drabble | and more! (I'm always taking suggestions!)

I can share more around the start of next year but for now these are all my main focuses! thank you so much for asking!! I hope some of them sound exciting to you :)
