Hey so I have to inform you all because I am morally and legally obligated to inform people about this movie -
I have told you before that Clue (1985) was available on Amazon Prime and today I have even better news. I don't know when it was added BUT ! it's FREE TO WATCH (with ads) ON YOUTUBE !
Also it's my favorite movie (this doesn't matter I just have to say it).
Also also just because I found this out five minutes ago it was released on Dec 13, 1985. Which was a Friday. A movie about a board game about murder released on Friday the 13th ? Truly a move of all time.
EDIT: Someone wanted to know if you can watch it with adblock on and hey! You can! (I have watched it problem free)

On the 1st day of Dethmas this writer gives to thee...
Dec 13 - Your favorite holiday tradition... Dethklok style
My mom has these static cling decals in traditional greens and red, and every year I am in charge of using them to decorate the bathroom mirror. At some point ages ago I got bored with doing plain ol’ wreaths all the time. Sometimes I spell out Happy Holidays, sometimes I make green presents with red bows, sometimes it's a garland draped across the mirror, etc. I don't even live there anymore, and she still goes spare if I don't do it.
I just spent an hour trying to find an example picture and failed, so (Facebones voice) use your fuckin’ imaginatiooooooooooooooooon. ... Roll it!
(Oh yeah, and I’m doing a different pairing for each fic this challenge, no repeats. This one is Nategaar.)
~
We Two Kings
~
One trip back to Nathan’s parents’ place for Christmas. That’s all it takes to break Skwisgaar’s long tradition of not bothering to get presents for anyone he’s sleeping with. As soon as they get back, he marches into their manager’s office.
“You gots to finds this things for me,” he says imperiously, dropping something flat and green on Offdensen’s desk. “Buts in blacks and silvers. Ands with the little red dots whats ams berries.”
Offdensen picks it up gingerly between thumb and forefinger as though he’s concerned it might be some sort of used condom. (He’s only been working for the band a few months now, but it wouldn’t be the first time.) “What, ah, is this exactly?”
“Ams ones of those things for ams puttings on a mirrors.” Skwisgaar fishes around in his back pocket and produces a somewhat bent polaroid, dropping it on the desk next to the green slip of plastic shaped like a cartoon holly leaf. In the picture, two different shades of green leaves make up a Christmas wreath on the mirror, dotted with red berries, all clearly captured by Rose Explosion using an old Sun 660 Autofocus. “Nathans makes this at his parents’ house. Different stuffs every years, never repeats hims-self.”
The photo is given due consideration as well. Offdensen glances up over the edge of his glasses. “And you want to. . . .”
“Wants to haves them for the new house we ams have built,” Skwisgaar confirms. He’s not particularly thinking about why all this feels so important or what that might mean about what was supposed to just be a casual fling. “For next years, whats he can does it at homes, too. Onlies gets more and haves a big fucks-off mirror ins the livings room for thems.”
“I’ll let the contractors know to add it to the plans.”
“Goods.” Skwisgaar starts to leave, but pauses at the door. “And don’t tells no ones. Ams a surprise.”
And the surprise goes pretty well. A few weeks before the next Christmas Skwisgaar takes the almost man-sized box, scrapes the shipping labels off, wraps it (poorly), and leaves it in front of Nathan’s bedroom door. He doesn’t leave a tag saying who it’s from and Nathan never asks, but the guy has to have an idea who it’s from. Who else would know to do this?
A few days later, the living room mirror in the newly christened Mordhaus is decorated with a giant silver skull made out of cartoon holly leaves. It’s layered over the black ones to give the illusions of lines and holes, with a glimmer of red berries sprinkled deep within the eye sockets. Up close it’s crude and a little weird, but from a distance it looks fucking cool. It gives Skwisgaar an unfamiliar warm feeling in his chest to know that he’d helped make that possible.
The year after that, it’s a crow in flight with a silver fish in its beak, dripping with blood. The year after that, it’s a black and silver present with blood seeping through one corner and a red tag that reads “FROM SATAN.” Between that and the following year’s spider wearing a Santa hat, that’s about as Christmas-y as it ever gets. The rest of the guys think it’s cool but don’t pay enough attention to realize it’s their own bandmate who does it every year.
Fast forward about a decade.
It’s well after 4am, early in December. Skwisgaar is lounging on the couch nearest to the mirror, idly playing guitar while Nathan works with his static cling decals and, occasionally, a step stool. Every once in a while the hulking frontman paces around the room to examine his work from different angles and distances, scratch his head, and drink absentmindedly from his current beer bottle. It’s the same brand his dad keeps in the fridge back in Florida. (That one isn’t Skwisgaar’s doing, Nathan arranges for that all on his own every year.)
Just like the unacknowledged understanding that Skwisgaar gave him this new tradition to look forward to, there’s an unspoken rule that Skwisgaar doesn’t look until he’s done. Relationships, it turns out, are mostly a matter of paths trodden so deep into you that you follow them without having to think about it, and it feels good. Comfortable, even.
Eventually Nathan thumps down on the couch next to him. Skwisgaar stops his absentminded fretting to put the guitar to one side and stretch, getting a few satisfying little pops out of his spine. From the looks of it out the windows, dawn isn’t all that long off. “All dones?”
“I think so,” Nathan grumbles. “I can’t get the fucking lines smooth enough, but whatever.”
“I’s shores it am fines, Misters Porflect,” he replies, and accepts the half finished beer that Nathan hands him. Their fingers brush, and Skwisgaar impulsively transfers the beer to his other hand so he can tangle them together. He’s not particularly thinking about what this impulse might mean about what was supposed to just be a casual fling over ten years ago now, but has endured into . . . something else. “Can I sees it now?”
Nathan seems surprisingly ambivalent; usually he demands that Skwisgaar look and give his opinion immediately upon completion, pressing and wringing to try and get constructive criticism even though they both know he doesn’t always take that the best. This time he just shrugs and says, “Sure, I guess you can, if you want,” with so much forced casualness it’s like he slathered it on with a trowel. Puzzled, Skwisgaar stands and tugs for the other man to come with him as he starts to turn—
His jaw drops as soon as he sees what Nathan has spent the last several hours working on with meticulous attention to detail and laser-like focus.
“That. Ams mine face,” he says wonderingly, dropping Nathan’s hand and drifting in for a closer look.
Despite the complaint a moment ago, there aren’t really lines. The entire piece is roughly as tall as he is and mostly silver overlaid with black, like looking at the negative of a photograph. It’s not particularly detailed, but Nathan has captured the contours of his face in black shapes. Eyes, nose, cheekbones, mouth, jaw . . .  even the hollow of his throat, all framed by dark waves of the hair that always hangs down in front of his shoulders.
Tumblr media
Nathan comes up behind him while he stares, taking the beer back before he has a chance to accidentally drop it, and Skwisgaar rocks back on the heels of his boots and leans against him. “I can’ts believes you dids this. . . .”
“Yeah, well.” He can feel Nathan shrug, and the rumbling in his chest when he speaks. “I didn’t want to do a stupid Christmas tree, and I couldn’t think of anything else.” More of that forced casualness. “It’s not really a big deal, I’m gonna do one of us each year for a while so those other assholes can’t bitch too much about being left out. But . . . yeah. I started with you. What do you think, any good?”
“Ja, goods,” Skwisgaar manages against the sudden big gay lump in his throat.
He’d been facing away from Nathan the whole time he’d been working on this; it was done from memory. Nathan has memorized his face. And this is a guy who, rather than just imagining he’s singing in armor just to make an album more brutal, actually commissioned a full suit of armor to be made for himself on the grounds that just picturing stuff when you could actually have it was for pussies.
Fuck. Holiday bullshit hadn’t ever gotten to him before, but he’d made that one, tiny no-gift exception and that had opened the floodgates, hadn’t it? This big lug with his once-a-year art projects has a piece of his heart . . . and now seems to be holding out a piece of his own.
Skwisgaar turns. It feels like he’s moving in slow motion and his tongue is weighted and heavy with words he has no practice and probably no right to say out loud. So he doesn’t say anything, just winds his long fingers into Nathan’s hair and kisses him like there’s no fucking tomorrow. They’ve been together for so long, that’s all he really needs to do to tell the man I love you back, I love you too.
It’s going to be a brutally amazing Christmas this year.

Review Response, Dec 22 - 28, 2019
“28″, but I’ll be including the reviews that came in this morning. Because hey.
And... there are a lot. The most this year.
Legacy Prologue - Kalos
1) That first part DEFINITELY reminded me of the XY chapter, except Y is being the Hikikomori (shut-in) and X is trying to drag her out... It’s a good role-reversal!
I also wanted it to be like the time in XY where Y found out what happened to her mother and she got super depressed. Except this time, X tries to do something about it. Finally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Legacy #008
1) LOVED IT!
Thank you!
2) Poor moon. I loved this chapter
Hey, it’s you! <3 Thank you kindly.
3) WoW cool chapter. So blue confessionele next chapter hopefully? Lol have been waiting on that for the entire story so Lets hope its the case
Haven’t we all. ... Except for those that don’t like this pairing...
4) It’s nice to see platinum trying to help blue move things was a good chapter with nice interactions with the juniors and seniors all under the same roof
It’s like a big Dex Holder family! ... But not too big, since there are far too many of them nowadays! And despite Platinum not really wanting to get involved, she helps out anyways, as “foretold” by the Headcanon Chronology!
5) While Moon really should rest, the idea of her getting that Spirit of Vengeance team you posted about on your Tumblr sounds way too awesome. ...Also Umbreon bias since it's my first (and only) shiny, but yeah.
Poor Blue - it really is probably only going to hurt her the longer she keeps it in. Wonder how that is going to play out, since I guess Platinum's now put things in motion. I think the first scene in this chapter is the one I enjoyed the most.
Damn, for Moon's Pokemon to die like that...that's gotta be traumatizing. I have to admire that determination though, even though she's shaping up to be a revenge-obsessed character from what I see.
Awesome chapter as always and can't wait for the next one!
Hehe. Spirit of Vengeance. The amount of curse in that team would be quite terrifying. Hehehe... ... Only shiny, you say? Aww...
Platinum has gotten the ball rolling despite not really wanting to. MVP of the confession? Hehe... Sisterly bonds, indeed. Now, will it work out in favor for Blue??
Moon can’t be filled with a lust for vengeance if none of her friends and Pokemon have perished. And so now she rises from her agony with ice cold determination for blood to be spilled for the blood that had been shed. ... Or does that saying go the other way around? Heh. Regardless. She’s pissed, has a bow, lethal poison, and soon to be a team packed with ghosts (and Dark types).
Thank you as always! And you won’t have to wait long~!
6) Eh lucky really isnt my cup of tea but the way you write stories is pretty awesome keep up the good work!
I could tell by the anon ID you picked. To each their own. And thank you!
7) Awww blue being so shy hahahaha. Its like the roles have reversed since the first time they met thats so cute! Anyway Great story as usual
Hehe. Timid Blue~! It’s new and very cute, isn’t it? And thank you.
8) Hey man Great story looking forward to the next chapter
Thank you. It’s coming very soon.
9) Wow this is A really underrated story I really like how you keep most characters so in character!
Still underrated... in comparison to my previous stuff. But that’s to be expected, I guess. And thank you.
10) Well Colour me surprised ! A Pokemon story thats not forcing crack pairings! Anyway Where is green in this story?
Heh. Crack pairings... Only once in a solar eclipse. And... who? Heh. He’s in Kalos and thus off screen.
11) Wtf did moons Pokemon just die? Great story but damn thats fucking dark
Yes they perished in the fire. “Die, insect” and all. ... And one of them was an insect! Heh. Ahem. ... Dark? That’s not dark. Have you seen the stuff I did in SA and Destiny? Heh...
12) I mean I kinda like the story but isnt specialshipping canon? Also this is really really dark
No, it’s not canon. What is canon is that Yellow has a crush on Red. What’s also canon is that Red is uncomfortable with the idea. And of course he is. He thought she was a guy the whole time and then suddenly found out all at once that she was a girl and had a crush on him. His response is not going to be positive. And again, this is not dark. ... Though I guess that depends on your sensitivity.
13) hey sorry for not leaving A review for so long but I still really like the story lol!
Hey, you’re back. ... Then... who’s the anon with the v2 of your ID?
14) I love your writing style!
Thank you!
15) I somehow found Pearl smacking Black across the face to wake him up funnier than it should’ve been. Haha
I wonder if Blue really will confess to Red today. If so, I wonder how the opportunity would present itself.
Its quite sad that Hau, Lillie, and two of Moon’s Pokemon died. I guess this is where Moon’s overhaul comes in. I cant wait to see Moon’s viciousness unleashed when she inevitably meets the guys responsible for all that.
I look forward to more!
Hehe. Black always getting smacked around in my stories, literally and figuratively.
Will Blue truly confess on that day (which is a day before the stuff in Alola happens), or will she fail again due to anxiety? And will it end well for her??
Moon’s overhaul is happening now, yes. For that, she’ll have to go to Galar too. And I don’t know sh*t about that region, so... that’ll be difficult. Hehe. And much later in the story when she meets her foe... oho, Rage Unleashed Moon!
16) Moon and Lillie sure get burned really bad. Also, what about the kid with the malasadas? Hopefully, Blue will confessed to Red soon...
The local boy with the malasada had the same fate as Lillie. Two stretchers with a body on top, with the white blankets pulled all the way up.
17) I figured that now would be the best time to give a review for one of your works. therefore, I should review my personal favourite.
I been a consistent and long-time reader for numerous years now without ever leaving a review. I simply didn't have an account until recently just so I can give my thoughts on some of the series that you make.
Regarding Legacy as a whole, it truely showcases your ability to take the wide variety of dexholders and thiee different personalities and place them in situations that would absolutely never occur in the actual story. I have always loved the way you portray each individual character, improving thier teama and strategies and having genuine character growth. Although Sun and Moon are my uncontested favourite characters so far, I adore the way you use Platinum B in your stories, giving her a genuine personality and character traits.
You also generate a wide range of different and creative settings for each of the characters to go through. Legacy is the perfect example of this in terms of one truely coherent story setting. by using the opportunity of the highest stakes that these dexholders may ever face, you use the opportunity to explore all of the aspects of each character amazingly and how they would face this danger.
Since Sun and Moon are my favourite characters, the wait for this chapter absolutely killed me. Although it sucks that due to the lack of reviews for these characters I will get few opportunties to read your way of presenting the characters What I am trying to say is that the way you write your characters makes them feel REAL. I genuinely believe that these are the actual characters as they personalties are replicated and refined to perfection The way both Sun and Moon react in this chapter is exactly the way I would have expected them to. Being a Deliveryshipping day 1, seeing even the slightest interactions in any media, especially in your stories always brings joy to me. I have regulary reread most of your works such as Special Chronicals and Distinct Events becuase each story is chapter is amazing in its own right.
Your amazing work has inspired me to possibly start my own project one day. I am sorry for the stress that you have gone through this year and the issues with the Discord. It will get better this year. Seeing as you use reviews to indicate the popularity of a particular series, I had to write this review so that this series can get the update it deserves so that we can all see how this fantastic story ends. Thank your for all of the amazing work you have done.
Whoa, hello. Haven’t gotten a review this long since a certain someone stopped with Destiny reviews back in July.
Accounts aren’t necessary for the reviews. Guest reviews exist! And if you use the same anon ID, I’d know it’s you. But thank you for going through the effort! It’s much appreciated!
Aww, thank you very much! <3 And while I don’t know about Sun, but Moon is going to be in the spotlight quite a lot, so enjoy it! Since Platinum is my uncontested favorite, she gets plenty of development in my stories, with new character bonds, teams, battling style, etc. And unlike in DPPt, she actually gets to do things against the enemy.
Of the three major stories I’ve written (SA, Destiny, Legacy), Legacy has the lowest stakes. But I think it’s also the most personal, which I guess means it’s much more important for individual Dex Holders. Well, we’ll see as time passes. And yes, these are kind of things that would never happen in the actual arcs, so the Dex Holders get to be stress-tested. How would they react given their personalities, tics, relationships, etc, in a realistic situation?
Oh. ... Ahem. Sorry for making you wait 7 months. Ehehe... And while it’s true that Sun and Moon currently have the lowest “viewership”, that changes as time passes. Like Black and White in SA and X and Y in Destiny. As the “meh” torch is passed down to Sword and Shield, Sun and Moon might rise in popularity, thus increasing the chances of them appearing in my stories.
I don’t really know if this was how Sun would react though. But I also don’t know how he would’ve actually reacted, so this might not be outside the possibility range. I kind of had him act like Black, really, but without being as sweet... or loud. Well, there will be more Sun & Moon interactions for you to enjoy in the upcoming chapters, so... there you go!
You should start your own project! Go for it! And eh, Discord. Sh*t happens. I wouldn’t call that stress. Anyways. Yes, I use the review count as an indicator of how many people have finished the chapter. Of course, there are plenty of people who read the chapter to the end without reviewing, and the number of people who review after reading tends to fluctuate. But if there is a trend, that indicates a trend in viewership as well. And that is what I look at. Hence the charts. And yes. We’d all like to see how the story ends. Me included. Keep up with the reviews and we’ll all see it by 2021.
And thank you so much for the review and the... sweet talking. Hehe <3
18) Just found this story and am enjoying it thoroughly. Big fan of your Blue characterization as well, I used to enjoy shipping Red with Yellow, but recently, I've come to enjoy Blue with Red.
A small nitpick - Did none of the juniors comment on Red and Blue sleeping in the same room/bed while they stayed in Red's house in the last two chapters? I would assume the female juniors already know Blue likes Red and so won't say anything unnecessary, but I guess the guys are a little more tactful than we give them credit for?
Looking forward to me. Cheers.
Red with Blue works very well. And it’s cute! Hehe... ... biased.
Heh. The girls... already know, since the girls who are in the house were Platinum, White, and Y, and they already know of Blue’s crush and all that. So White and Y would just snicker at the fact that Red and Blue are sleeping on the same bed, while Platinum would just smile. As for the boys... Diamond might notice something if he spent more time talking to Red and Blue before and after. But I doubt Pearl or Black would notice anything odd. They’d probably just assume that Red and Blue are sharing the bed because a ton of guests were sleeping in the living room, so there were no other options.
Of course, all that’s assuming that the juniors know that Red and Blue are sleeping on the same bed. I don’t recall having Red and Blue give them a tour of the house, so as far as the juniors know, there might be another bed upstairs. ... Though a house tour is generally the first thing you do, but... heh. Ambiguity. No one knows for sure.
And I look forward to seeing more reviews from you!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Well well. Would you look at THAT. Way above the average now. So... looks like I’ll have to keep my word and update Legacy again before this year ends in 3 days. Heh. Of course, I did notice a few things but... well... whatever.
18. That’s the most reviews I’ve gotten in a chapter in all of 2019. Or 2018. ... And vast majority of 2017 (Legacy Prologue - Kanto was in January 2017). If this kind of thing happened much more frequently, I would be updating Legacy like once every two weeks, instead of 3~4 times in a year.
But, there you have it! New record in almost 3 years. As a result... Legacy update in 3 days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DE #031
1) Sun and moon are so cute. I love them
Support the new...ish pairing!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
And with that, DE #031 is no longer in the top 4 least reviewed. Yay!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SC #017
1) Awesome story.
Thank you.
2) Well that was...brutal alright. Thugs deserved it though. I'm mildly surprised no one died, but I think that's more because I'm used to seeing that from your old "doom hammer" chapters.
I admit the Santa part was an amusing touch, and I guess that explains why you needed to release this by the end of the year. Heh, Blue's gadgets are useful as always and very effective - that's a nice disguise. That action scene was awesome and easily the best scene in this chapter. The situation aside...it was nice to see Red be a hero even without his Pokemon.
You were right - this is an enjoyable chapter and I like this "brutal Red" experiment. Can't wait for the next chapter!
Heh. The doom hammer is for serious stories. Not comical ones. So no one dies in the hands of Santa Claus. This time.
Tumblr media
Ahem. Well, there’s the inspiration for the chapter, and the reason behind the line of “Or Santa will go jolly on your naughty asses with a candy cane axe”. Hehe. Cheers, everyone, Santa has come to town!
And the duo of Red and Blue becomes much stronger. Mercenary Red with technological support!
Hehe. Much more serious brutal Red (instead of comical) to come up later as the experimentation continues. Ohoho!
3) holy crud, santa beating up a gang is greatest thing ever
Yep. Santa going to town on their naughty asses with a candy cane bat. What’s not to love?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
And with that, the latest SC chapter is now in the top 4 least reviewed. For now?
... Looks like the “A Day at Work” chapters are failing miserably, since they’re at 1 and 3 reviews respectively. So... I guess I won’t be doing that again.
And with this, the longest review response post of 2019 has come to an end.

Premium Trending This Summer Season will Presents Who Love:
Yesterday was a As I Have Loved You Love One Another John 13' 34 T Shirt busy day of meetings and airplane travel for peter and connor but last night peter took some time to share his thoughts on the passing of the great christopher lee christopher lee was the tallest actor I ever knew he was also by far the most literate when we first met in a los angeles studio where he was recording his lines as king haggard in the last unicorn he had just recorded haggard’s speech about his first sight of unicorns and I mentioned that it was probably my favorite speech in the book he immediately wanted to know well did I do it properly we can always redo it right here of course he’d handled the lines perfectly but writers and writers’ opinions about their work mattered intensely to christopher that same afternoon we discovered that between the two of us we we could call to mind just about all the lines of g k chesterton’s poem the rolling english road we also discovered a mutual need to hit the men’s room and my son dan in his mid teens at the time still has a very clear memory of christopher simultaneously peeing while declaiming in that voice which no one could ever keep from imitating after fifteen minutes with him before the roman came to rye or out to severn strode the rolling english drunkard made the rolling english road a reeling road a rolling road that rambled round the shire and after him the parson ran the sexton and the squire I leave it to the reader to imagine that voice in the tiled acoustics of a hollywood bathroom we met a second time in munich where the last unicorn was being dubbed into german most of my memories of that time and of chris lee have to do with books and authors he had known both j r r tolkien and a writer who mattered more to me t h white we had a long ongoing argument in munich about a chapter of the sword in the stone that appears in the english edition of the book but not in the american one he turned out to be right he usually was he never failed to mention the last unicorn as one of his very favorite books and as one of the movies he was most proud of having made indeed he left my whopperjawed as mark twain would have put it when we were being interviewed together on austrian television and he announced oh yes I simply couldn’t resist a chance to play king haggard one more time even in another language after all and he looked straight into the camera it’s the closest they’ll ever let me get to playing king lear the camera swung toward me to catch my stunned reaction and chris looked across the studio at me and winked but my most vivid memory chilling as it remains to this day has to do with the day that I and michael chase walker associate producer of the last unicorn and the one who really got the film made in the first place somehow found our way out to dachau I can’t now recall how we managed it considering that neither one of us spoke german and that you had to take both a subway and a bus to get there from the hotel where the crew were staying but we got there somehow and spent a good half of the day roaming with other tourists around a legendary concentration camp peering blindly into the huge crematoriums but staring with equal horror and fascination at the endless rows of filing cabinets containing every record of every human being who was ever imprisoned starved gassed or simply worked to death in this place michael and I grew quieter and quieter that afternoon until by the time we started back to munich we weren’t speaking at all I think we both felt that we might say anything in words again the first person we met in the hotel lobby was christopher he took one look at us and announced you’ve been to dachau we nodded without answering chris strode toward us looked all the way down from his six foot five inch altitude lowered his voice and inquired still smells doesn’t it with the end of world war ii christopher as a member of the special forces and whose five or six languages included fluent german had been assigned to hunt down and interrogate nazi war crminals and had been present at the liberation of dachau and yes the smell of death had undoubtedly faded somewhat since 1945 but it was still as real as michael and me wandering dazedly between the ovens and the filing system we just didn’t know what it was but christopher did and i’d know it again I never saw him again after munich though we spoke on the telephone a few times on the last occasion when I had called to wish him a happy 90th birthday I remember him assuring me that if by the time you come to make your live action version of your movie I have passed on do not let it concern you I have risen from the dead several times I know how it’s done he worked almost to the last as the real artists of every kind do they work to be working because that’s what they do and they die when they stop I always regarded him as the last of the great 19th century actors that bravura larger than life style went with him no modern rada trained performer would ever attempt it today nor should they it would inevitably come out parody however earnestly meant yet there was always more to christopher lee as an actor than dracula or the mummy or saruman or sherlock holmes for that matter though he was very proud of having played not only both holmes and watson but sherlock’s brother mycroft as well lord summerisle of the original the wicker man probably his favorite of his own movies is most likely closer to chris’s dark benignity than any other role he ever inhabited I believe this because lord summerisle sings a surprising amount in that movie and chris passionately loved singing if there is any such thing as an afterlife or reincarnation I truly hope no believe that Felix Jaehn: Don’t Worry, Be Happy.
Felix Jaehn Interview.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since he charted at number one in more than fifty-five countries with his remix of OMI’s Cheerleader, the platinum-selling DJ and music producer Felix Jaehn whose real name is Felix Kurt Jähn has captured the attention of the international Electronic Dance Music community.
youtube
Jaehn, who started his DJ career at only age sixteen and has now accrued more than 2 billion streams (and counting), has made him one of the most sought-after DJs in 2019. His last single So Close, a collaboration with the Swedish duo NOTD, songstress Georgia Ku and Los Angeles-based trio Captain Cuts continues to simmer at mainstream Top-40 pop radio.
youtube
The German producer was recently in the BPM Supreme-Nexus Lounge Miami during Miami Music Week to promote his latest single with Alok and The Vamps called All the Lies. And he was very impressed with Nexus Radio host Adam Turner’s pronunciation of his last-name.
Adam Turner: This is Adam Turner here in the Nexus Lounge in Miami on Miami Beach and I’m joined by Felix Jaehn, how are you?
Felix Jaehn: Hey Man, what’s up? Thanks for having me.
Adam Turner: Did I pronounce your surname right?
Felix Jaehn: You did, I’m quite impressed. Like, there aren’t that many people who get it right [laughs].
Adam Turner: Is it German?
Felix Jaehn: It is German. We have the […], “a” with two dots on top of it. You don’t have that in the English language. That’s why a lot of people get confused.
Adam Turner: Where in Germany you from?
Felix Jaehn: I’m from Hamburg originally and now I live even further north by the sea in like a really small village, literally 80 people live there.
Adam Turner: So, how is your Miami (going)?

Felix Jaehn: It’s great. I love it. It’s actually the first time I’m in the warmth this year. I’ve been in Europe most of the time this year and it’s been freezing, so I’m enjoying the sun. I’m enjoying wearing shorts and I’ve actually been to the beach as well. The first day we got here, I woke up jet lagged at 6:00 AM and I called my photographer. I was like, ‘sorry to wake you up, but let’s go to the beach, watch the sunrise, take some epic shots and go for a swim.’ It was beautiful.
Adam Turner: Amazing. I mean, you’re not going to get that much of a chance to do that in Germany, so why not do it while you’re in Miami. How long are you here for? Are you here all week?
Felix Jaehn: I’m leaving on Friday, so tomorrow.

Adam Turner: Are you going to play anywhere?
Felix Jaehn: I did an appearance together with Alok who’s also going to be here in a bit. We have a single out together, it’s called All The Lies, so that’s why I came basically, to promote that record.
Adam Turner: Fantastic. Let’s jump straight in. I’ve got five questions for you. So, what are the five essential things that you carry in your DJ bag?

Felix Jaehn: USB sticks, headphones, ear-savers (ear plugs), […] a generation of MacBook that I need a USBC to USB adapter [laughs]. It’s always in there.
Adam Turner: It sounds like a big bag [laughs].
Felix Jaehn: That’s just four (items on the list) though, isn’t it?
Adam Turner: Sorry. Yeah, you’re right. One more.
Felix Jaehn: ..and then (pause), that’s it. That’s all I need (pause) really [laughs]. I just need four things.
Adam Turner: What is your favorite Emoji?
Felix Jaehn: My favorite Emoji at the moment is the rocket. Because that’s like my vibe, let’s go to the top!
Adam Turner: I like it!
Felix Jaehn: Let’s skyrocket! Let’s go to the top!
Don’t Worry, Be Happy.
Jaehn, who came out publicly as bi-sexual to a German newspaper recently, shared a few words to live by “Don’t worry, be happy.”

Back then I spent weeks looking for the right music for my birthday party with thirty friends. I knew exactly what time I wanted to play each song. I thought about how to build the vibe so my friends would hopefully dance. Today I still do the same. For thirty thousand sometimes! This pic just made me remember how far I've come. It's over nine years ago… but I still have the same passion!

Adam Turner: If you had a time machine, Felix, where would you go? Which decade would you go back to?
Felix Jaehn: I think I wouldn’t go back.
Adam Turner: You’re going to go in the rocket forward?
Felix Jaehn: No, I was going to say I wouldn’t go back very far. I think I would go back to my childhood actually.
Adam Turner: When was that?
Felix Jaehn: I would go back like 15 years ago now, when I was like nine years old and just tell this little kid that everything’s gonna be okay, and don’t worry, and just be happy.

I had a chat with @attitudemag!
Tumblr media
'Before releasing and touring his debut studio album, I, Felix finally took a break from his hectic schedule and decided the time had come to come out publicly as bisexual. Inspired by contempories like Troye Sivan and Olly Alexander, he did so in February this year, telling a German newspaper he was ready to find "the person I want to share my life with, man or woman.“ Nine months on from that announcement, Attitude's Will Stroude caught up with Felix […] to find out how his life has changed for him since, and how the search for Miss or Mister Right is going…'

Adam Turner: Who do you stalk the most on Instagram?
Felix Jaehn: I don’t know. Who do I stalk? I don’t really stalk people. Like, there must be someone (thinking that) I ‘stalk’ right? Like, nobody believes me [laughs]. I must say, I don’t stalk [laughs].
Adam Turner: You know, when you hand over your phone to someone like ‘oh! Look at this on Instagram’ and they look at the who like the top follower is…
Felix Jaehn: Let me see who’s on top right now. It’s usually the artist that I collaborate with at the moment because I want to stay up to date with what they’re doing. I don’t use Instagram privately a lot because…..yeah, it’s NOTD at the moment, we have a song out together, it’s called So Close. There you go! [laughs]
Adam Turner: Oh! By the way, that’s an amazing record! I’m a big fan of it, it’s really good. I heard it on the radio in L.A. just last week.
Felix Jaehn: Sick! I heard it on the Uber here last night and I was really happy. Like, I asked the Uber driver ‘Do you like this song?’ I went all in.
Adam Turner: Last one (question) on the Take 5. What career path do you think you would have gone down if you didn’t do music?
Felix Jaehn: I would have gone down a business career path, but I think I would’ve realized quite soon that it’s not the right thing for me to do because I would have done it just because that’s what my parents do.
And if music [does not] work out anymore at some point, which I don’t believe (so) because I’m doing great, and I have so much music coming up, and I don’t want to stop. But I would like to become a youth care worker at some point, and just work with kids and hopefully inspire them and share my values and all of that.
2017, Sorry, 2019 And Beyond.
Adam Turner: That’s fantastic! That’s Take 5, now tell me, what is 2017 (look like)? You’ve got a track out of the moment…
Felix Jaehn: 2017? Is that your time-machine vibes still going on [laughs].
Adam Turner: I don’t know why I did that, what is ….
Felix Jaehn: Why would you like to go back to 2017? What happened that year that you love it so, so much? [laughs]
Adam Turner: That year was quite good for me. I was happy with that (year)…. 2019, what’s going on for you this year?
Felix Jaehn: It’s a lot of music basically. Like last year… everybody always says line [laughs].
Adam Turner: Yeah, they do.

Felix Jaehn: But last year [I was] songwriting so, so much. I’ve been to L.A. for two weeks, London two weeks, Stockholm two weeks. I do songwriting camps at my little village in Germany and I invite songwriters to come over.
And, what’s new for me? I’m also co-writing all the songs and I’m involved with (lyrically). Even though I’m a DJ-producer, I try to make the songs as personal as possible. So, my next single is going to be about self-love for example. All those things that [were] going on in my head growing up […] I try to bring them into my songs and share the vibes.
He’ll Be Back.
Adam Turner: Fantastic, that sounds great. Are you going on the road? Are you deejaying? [Where] are you playing?
Felix Jaehn: Yeah, I’m playing a lot. I’m actually going to Dubai next week, then it’s Tokyo, Bali coming up. A lot of European shows, then there’s actually some U.S. shows confirmed already as well: San Francisco, Las Vegas. And in September, we just blocked off the entire month to do a U.S. Tour. I’m going to be here all September and I’m going to try to go everywhere!
Adam Turner: Fantastic! It sounds like you’ve got a crazy 2019.
Felix Jaehn: Yeah, it’s going to be big.
Adam Turner: Yeah, it sounds great! Felix, thank you so much for joining us in the Nexus Lounge, have a great Miami, and I will come and ….are you spinning this week?
Felix Jaehn: No, I don’t have another show coming up here.
Adam Turner: Did you play already?
Felix Jaehn: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Adam Turner: Damn! I missed it.
Felix Jaehn: But we’ll be back!
The interview.

J. Cole's Manager & Dreamville President Ibrahim 'Ib' Hamad Talks 'Going Platinum With No Features' & Success of '4 Your Eyez Only'
Tumblr media
Just two weeks after J. Cole announced and released his fourth studio effort 4 Your Eyez Only, J. Cole has topped the Billboard 200 for the fourth time while all 10 tracks have hit the Hot 100. He also landed the third-highest debut of 2016 on the heels of Drake's Views and Beyonce's Lemonade, earning 492,000 equivalent album units (363,000 of which were traditional album sales) in the week ending Dec. 15.
On his latest offering, the Fayetteville, North Carolina, rapper (born Jermaine Cole) stretches his range, singing on songs like the emotional opener "For Whom the Bell Tolls," while weaving together bars based on personal experiences mixed with tales from a drug dealer who dies at the hands of the streets. On "Change," Cole also tributes his fallen friend, James McMillan Jr., who passed away at 22 and is believed to have inspired the record.
While Cole has let the music speak for itself by shying away from interviews, Billboard called his manager and Dreamville Records president Ibrahim "Ib" Hamad to discuss the rollout strategy for 4 Your Eyez Only, the viral joke that has become "going platinum with no features" and why grinding at a slow pace leads to success well worth the wait.
What do you think helped make 4 Your Eyez Only the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in just a week?
I think it’s really just seven, eight, however many years of work that’s been put in already. I don’t think there’s any secret to this. There is no marketing plan with that. Cole has built his fan base. They trust him, and they trust his product. At the same time, he kind of just goes away after he puts out the music and people want to hear from him. He’s not on social media. He’s not in the news, he’s not in the press, he’s just in his own world, so when he decides to come out and say something, it holds weight. And people care to hear what he has to say. He’s built that over seven years of just doing right by people, doing right by his fans, and putting in the work. Once you put in that work, you kind of have the freedom to be able to do things your way, at your own pace and on your own time.
Who is the J. Cole fan in your mind?
To me, it’s people that connect with him emotionally because he says things they feel or want to say but they don’t know how to say it. He puts it in a way for them to be like, "Oh my God, he’s talking about me" or “He’s talking about my life." I feel that’s what he does better than anybody -- he connects with people emotionally. So if you don’t feel that way or that’s not something you’re going through, you’re not going to necessarily get it. But that’s why his fans hold him so high up and that’s why they love him so much, because he’s speaking to something that a majority of people are going through. He’s not speaking about something that’s so outrageous that nobody understands. He’s talking about things that the average person, whether it’s me, his friends or his fans, understand. It makes them feel like, "Damn, I guess if I could write, rap, and I knew a way to say it, I would say it that way." I’m his manager, but as a fan, that’s how I feel.
Do you think his songs transcend race, class and gender?
Oh, for sure. I think the more people are getting to hear his music, the more people are coming in and being like, “Oh my God. I can relate to this. I understand this" from different classes, different genders, different races because you see that in the numbers -- it just grows. He’s growing numbers-wise because many people are coming in like, "I know that feeling" or "Oh man, I can’t believe he just said that." Because it’s not like he’s throwing out these smash singles and that’s why he’s growing. He’s growing because whenever he gets people’s ears, they feel a certain connection and that’s his gift. He can put into words an emotional feeling -- it’s not like a little story, or a visual thing. It’s a feeling that he gives off.
2014 Forest Hills Drive became Cole’s first million-selling album and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as well. I’m sure you saw the running joke on Twitter that it went platinum with no features. Was there any pressure to follow that same formula?
Not at all. I think, at the end of the day, Cole’s never gonna force anything. He’s not the guy that’s out, hanging out with rappers or in the studio with rappers all day. He’s really in the studio with his team and making music with his producers and his artists. He’s done songs with other people involved but it might not make the album. [His artist] Ari [Lennox's] voice made the album on "Change" because she came in, added something to it and it worked. If it doesn’t work, Cole’s not gonna put it on there because it’s a name. He’s never gonna put it on there just to say he got a feature.
He also didn’t go into it like, "I’m gonna have no features on this album." He didn’t go into Forest Hills Drive initially saying he was gonna have no features. That’s just how it ended up. At the end of the day, the most important thing to him and to all of us is how do we get this point that we’re trying to get through and how do we make the best version of a song? This album wasn’t made like how are we gonna impress people? That’s why we ended up taking out "Everybody Dies" and "False Prophets." It was a great song. It was an album-worthy song, but it just didn’t make sense in the story that we were trying to tell. And that’s just how it is. That’s the process. You have to stick to what you believe in and what you want to get out there.
You mentioned “False Prophets” and "Everybody Dies," which are also on the Hot 100 but it made me think of the conversation you and Cole had in the Eyez documentary where you both were talking about putting out that one song that becomes the stand-out for whatever project follows. What made you both decide to have “False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies” in this behind the scenes documentary instead of having it on the record?
Well, [the songs were] initially on the album. The album was initially like 13, 14 songs and then just at the last second, we kind of were like, "Look, if we’re trying to tell a story, let’s just make it as clear as possible and cut it down to that." So when we cut out "False Prophets" and "Everybody Dies," it really hurt because "False Prophets" was on the album the whole time and it was one of our favorites but we had the documentary piece already in the works. We did that piece where Cole’s talking in the studio, which is really like a two-hour conversation, and we had already had shot the video [for "False Prophets"] like four or five months ago. Then we were like, "It would be dope if we could put "False Prophets" [in the documentary]" as long as it fits the whole vibe of the documentary because the documentary had a vibe to it. It was just this fly on the wall aspect where nobody's ever talking to the camera. You feel like you’re looking at these still shots, a real peek into Cole's life. ["False Prophets"] was added a few days before we put out the documentary. We really wanted "False Prophets" and "Everybody Dies" on the album and it was like we still wanted people to hear it but we didn’t want to put the music out because we knew it wasn’t a real representation of the album. We just thought in the documentary, it would be a cool extra thing but then the documentary just took off and grew a life of its own. It was great to see.
Cole worked with Scott Lazer on the HBO special earlier this year. Was it always the plan to put out a behind-the-scenes documentary first before putting the album out?
Scott's a part of our team. He does a lot of great things for the team he’s working with -- he’s worked on Bas videos, Cozz videos, he’s working on some stuff with Ari and Omen. We were working on the album and just told Scott, "Come through and catch footage." He just started shooting it in weird ways like he would just put the camera in one spot and just let it record, and he wouldn’t move around with the camera. And then after the first week he was with us, he was like, "I have this idea. I want to do these longer shots, like a minute-and-a-half shots, maybe 45-second shots and really just have the viewer feel like they’re there." So once he said that, we were like, "We love the idea, let’s try it out." And as we were finishing up the album, we knew we wanted to put that out to kind of announce and give a glimpse of the album. And Scott’s just incredible. He’s always thinking forward and we just allow him to have these ideas and then work together to ensure whatever message we’re trying to get across, gets across.
This year, many artists were releasing their albums exclusively via different streaming service but J. Cole, a founding artist of Tidal, just released it on all platforms. What was the reasoning behind that?
I think it was just important to us to get our music out to everybody at once. People look at the numbers and they’re like people will find the music anyway but we were thinking about giving everybody the same chance to get the music at the same time. That’s just something that’s important to Cole. But we also knew that with his relationship with Tidal and Jay [Z], he wasn’t just gonna [release the album exclusively on Tidal], you know? It was a conversation we had and shout out to Jay for being very understanding. [Tidal's team is] all very cool people and they just give us the chance to bring our ideas to life. We gave them the documentary which ended up being huge for them. I don’t want to say it necessarily evened out but to it felt right that Tidal had the opportunity to hold the documentary and have the exclusive, and then we had the opportunity to give everybody the music at the same time. We knew that was important to us.
“Déjà Vu” became Cole’s first ever Hot 100 Top 10 debut at No. 7. But there is a likeness to Bryson Tiller’s "Exchange" because of the song that it samples on the beat. How long ago was “Déjà Vu” made and was there any hesitation to put that out?
I wouldn’t say there was any hesitation because I felt like it’s just two totally different songs. We had already made "Deja Vu," like that song was literally made for his last album [2014 Forest Hills Drive] and we just knew it would fit better because of the story he wanted to tell on the album. Cole had already made the song, so when Bryson’s album came out and we heard it, it was a feeling like, "Damn, he used the same sample." But to Cole, it don’t matter. He’s not competing with Bryson. What Bryson’s song did was incredible, and to Cole, it was like, "It’s a part of the story I want to tell, so I’m gonna use [the beat]." We didn’t really know the backstory at the time of what happened with Vinylz and Boi1da and [ForeignTeck] who made the beat. That was none of our concern. We just knew that Bryson had a really dope song that was out that used the same sample, basically the same beat, and that we had a totally different song. It's like 10 years from now, nobody’s gonna be like, "Oh, Cole and Bryson used the same beat." They’re gonna enjoy those songs, you know? Those songs are gonna age, and people will connect to it differently. You know, people might connect to “Exchange” in a totally different way than they’re gonna connect to “Déjà Vu” so it’s not really a big deal to us.
How do you think streaming has helped all 10 songs on the album chart?
I think it's because we’re seeing that hip-hop is the biggest genre when it comes to streaming. A lot of people may not necessarily buy hip-hop coming up but if they have a chance to listen to it, then maybe they would. So for the people who enjoy listening to hip hop but wouldn’t necessarily buy it, streaming is perfect because now we can deliver the album without necessarily paying $9.99 just for that album. At the end of the day, nobody needs to buy an album anymore in a sense. People buy the album because they support the artist and they love the artist, you know? Some people just want [an album] on their phone, some people want it show love to someone who's put in work and show respect to someone who’s getting them through something in life. Everyone can stream it if they wanted to -- it’s that easy -- but I think that just opens it up to more people to give it a chance. Like if you see an artist and you hear people talking about an artist, you might not go and pay $9.99 to get the album but if you see the artist everybody is talking about and you already have Spotify or Tidal or Apple Music, you might be like, "Alright, let me check this album out." It makes it better for discovery.
What’s your response to critics who say music doesn’t sell anymore after seeing Cole's first-week numbers?
I think that the only way music sells is if you put in the work. I think there’s a lot of back work that people aren’t seeing that Cole put in for seven years, and just assume that he’s putting out music and it’s just selling when realistically he’s been on the road for seven years, doing Dollar and A Dream shows, he’s been talking to people. When he has the time, he’ll have like a conversation with everybody that stops him. We literally had to stop doing meet and greets on tour because he would literally sit there and talk for five minutes with everybody and it just started to get to the point where he would be done with his meet and greet right before the show. It was just too taxing. He’s that kind of person. But all that stuff adds up, all those years of talking to people, all those years of doing Dollar and A Dream shows, all those years of going on tour that people weren’t seeing. Not every show coming up was sold out, not every show coming up were people who knew all his words. You need to go through that, you have to put in the work to get to the point where music can sell. If your music is streaming, there’s not much for your music to sell because people can just hear it for free or if they have a membership.
If you’re someone who puts in the work, people are going to support. And it's not just artists like Cole or Drake or Kendrick [Lamar] that have been around since before streaming, even new artists that’s coming up. I buy a lot of albums even though I listen to them on streaming. I remember watching an Anderson .Paak interview and I was just getting into the story, and it made me want to buy his album instead of just streaming it. Once you connect with people and you see the work they put in, you want to support them. In this day and age, even though the sales are down, the people who put in that work get rewarded.
In his Meadows Festival performance this past October, Cole said it was going to be his "last show for a long time." Are there any plans to promote this album from a performance standpoint after this year?
It's funny because at the time, it was our last show like we didn’t have any more shows for the year. We didn’t know what we were going to do in 2017 so he was just saying like, "Yeah, this is my last show for a while" and people just blew it out of proportion. But as far as touring or shows, I’m not sure yet. I think Cole’s taking his time. He’s just been wrapping his mind around putting out this album so we haven’t really decided if he’s going to tour this album or not. Like that’s something that when he wants to talk about that, he’ll talk about that. Right now, it’s just more so enjoying the holidays and everybody trying to get with their families and spend some downtime. So we haven’t really spoken about it but once we figure something out, his fans will be the first ones to know.
You and Cole have been building this Dreamville empire for many years. How has the definition of Dreamville changed since you both started this musical journey?
We just got more clear on who we are as a brand. I think that what Bas has been doing is an example of who we are as a brand, which is a brand that goes out there and really touches the people. Using Bas as an example, the numbers and the support that he’s getting are not necessarily reflected by the chatter online or who’s cool according to  critics and Twitter. It’s kind of like we passed that, we understood that that was just a very small amount of people, and that our job is not to make news for the critics, but to make music and news for the people and go directly to the people. That’s something Cole put his mindset on and we all followed suit after that -- that’s where we are now as a label. With all these people like Cozz, Omen or Ari are coming in and Lute who’s about to drop a project as well, everybody is in tune with us and what we believe, which is just making sure it’s about the people and not impressing critics or people on Twitter who are really fickle and just want to give an opinion. So once we got away from that and just started focusing on the people, that’s when our brand first took off, and Cole’s career started flourishing even more.
It’s fun to be out there and go to Bas' sold-out shows to see people reacting the way they were to Cole when he was first starting. You start to see that it’s a really slow grind and the payoff might take longer but it’s a way more gratifying and satisfying journey. You appreciate things, and when you get things too quick, nothing is new to you. With Cole, the reason why he can be so private and still be the same guy we all know from college is because nothing ever came to him right away. It was all in little doses, and at that point, you can adapt to anything that comes your way. Everything comes at a pace that’s good for us to make sure that, "Ok, we did this right, we did this wrong." Things don’t go from zero to 100, no pun intended, when you do something the right way and don’t conform to what everyone is doing.
