Name: Fujitsumon
Debut: Digimon Pendulum 2.0 Deep Savers (kind of. It's a little complicated. But don't worry about that)
Fujitsumon is a darling little eyes-in-a-void barnacle! With their brown exteriors, they really do bring to mind Jawas, world-renowned eyes-in-a-void creature. This is a rare design choice for a barnacle, and a barnacle is a rare creature inspiration choice! Too rare! They are such incredible and fascinating animals, and should absolutely be represented as such, and not just background decorations!
Fujitsumon is essentially a Digimon by technicality, an accessory of a creature, and I'm fine with that. They're acknowledged as creatures, and that's enough for me! They're almost always seen attached to the surface of another creature, and that sure is barnacle of them!
Tumblr media
This is their host, Octomon! Or Octmon, if you don't like the dub name, but I think Octomon sounds better. Octomon wears a clay pot on its head, and Fujitsumon live on top of that! This is a smart setup. If I lived underwater I would love to wear a hat that some barnacle friends of mine could live on! Fujitsumon and Octomon have a mutualistic relationship going on, where the barnacles will sense danger, and warn the octopus of it, getting the whole group out of danger!
Tumblr media
The reason I wasn't so sure about Fujitsumon's debut is that in Deep Savers, Octomon's sprite looks like this, not nearly detailed enough to even depict some barnacles! However, it does seem like the official art was made around this time, so I might as well consider this Fujitsumon's debut too.
There isn't much to Fujitsumon, but I love it! It's cute, it's a barnacle, and it's almost a "secret" creature, and that makes it, dare I say, even more fun than if it was a standalone obtainable Digimon! A charming little oddity in the digital world.
That's what I thought until I found out this little barnacle has a whole dedicated ANIME EPISODE! YEEHAW! This is the best barnacle-related cartoon episode I've ever seen! Better than SpongeBob SquarePants episode 164a Barnacle Face! Why, even better than Benny the Barnacle (2022)! Can you believe it? Better than Benny the Barnacle? I can.
Tumblr media
In this episode of Digimon Ghost Game, the human protagonist is tormented by premonitions of disasters occurring to everyone around him, revealed to be caused by a Fujitsumon settled on his head. A land mammal is no place for a barnacle! Wouldn't it be crazy if you could go to the beach and leave with a barnacle settled on your fingernail? What would you even do? I would probably feel obligated to dip my finger into the ocean regularly to let it filter-feed. If only we had air plankton!
Tumblr media
This Fujitsumon, as well as others that are affecting other humans, come from one particular Octomon, who got so angry at his barnacles that they Left. These are no real-life, cemented-in-place-for-the-rest-of-their-lives barnacles! They can just get up and leave if they're bothered. I bet real barnacles wish they could do that! It would be so embarrassing to end up settled right next to a turtle's... hehe... I shan't say...!
Octomon's petty outburst was over his magic brain barnacles not using their clairvoyance to help him win at a mobile game. Now, because of his Gamer Moment, there are Fujitsumon stuck directly to peoples' heads, which can cause these heads to explode. Maybe he should have just played a good mobile game, like Pico Pets Puzzle! *high fives someone offscreen*
Tumblr media
Don't worry! Everything's ok in the end, like it always is with invertebrate friends! Octomon apologizes, the lead Fujitsumon gathers the whole crusty crew, and everything is fine except for the physical damage that has already been done, but don't worry! The virtual invertebrates are all friends again! Squishy or chitinous, none of us have spines, and that's what matters!
If you know of any obscure barnacles in media, please let me know in the notes! And until the next high tide, remember to close your armored plates to prevent dessication!

Digimon Tamers - Episode 25
Woohoo! Finally in the digital world. Kinda looks like Arizona lol. This episode was a bit slow with the characters just getting their bearings. I like that we have Leomon and Renamon acting as knowledgeable tour guides, so we're not totally stumbling in the dark.
Notes:
Interesting how they acted like the first man on the moon when getting to the digital world. I wonder if they're really the first humans in the digital world this universe? (Was that true for Adventure? I don't remember lol)
Kinda weird how Culumon is just suddenly okay with their predicament because they saw something shiny lol. Just shows they're not operating on too many brain cells...
So in Adventure there was a lot of real world stuff in the digital world (telephone booths, trains, restaurants), but I wonder if things are going to be different this time. They showed the rock formations that looked like antenna and it was implied that they were generated based on real antenna...
The lights of doom coming from the sky reminded me of Alice in Borderland lol
Two separate instances of characters stupidly staring at a dangerous thing rushing towards them for way too long before jumping out of the way. IDK why they can't just choreograph scenes like that to make them more believable
The Jagamon were pretty cute even though they accidentally killed Meramon. Maybe now that we're in the digi-world, digimon deaths are back to being not so big a deal...? Still was a little jarring.
It's hard for me to not hear "Makuramon" as "pillow-mon" lol. I know it's based on some Hindu character though...
Damn, that dragon that Makuramon was flying on was ugly...was that supposed to be one of the "God" digimon or no? He didn't get any lines...
Culumon somehow had the power (or gained the power) to just phase through their cage? I'm guessing we'll be learning the truth behind what they are now that we're in the digi-world.

Monster Replays the Truthful Route: Part 2
Just realized that the end of this month marks the anniversary of Digimon Survive's release, so I wanna finish this playthrough just in time!
Warning: The following post contains spoilers for Digimon Survive. Viewer discretion is advised.
Thoughts:
Professor 🥺🥺🥺
Weird glitch I noticed: When someone's talking, sometimes the voice over doesn't play, and then they 'talk' in sync with the next characters lip flaps. It usually happens whenever somebody's talking to Takuma.
Ryo: Is your brain broken or something?
There are multiple different people in my life that this quote describes.
I love that humans are considered to be myths in the Kemonogami World, while the Kemonogami are considered myths in the Human World. They are parallel worlds fr fr.
Agumon in this conversation is a whole mood.
Agumon: Heh heh! Yeah, I'm amazing! I guess?
No, Agumon. No "I guess." You are amazing!
Miyuki 🥺🥺🥺
While writing this post, my phone died, and a good chunk was deleted because of it. So there's probably gonna be an odd skip between the beginning of Part 2 to the middle of it.
Labramon: You're drooling, Agumon! That's disgusting...
Falcomon: And yet you're drooling too, Labramon.
Fun fact: Non-playable Dracmons make li'l puppy noises.
This is probably the only playthrough where I don't have Minoru with the highest affinity in the first few chapters.
Ryo: The past two days almost killed me!
And if I don't raise my affinity with you soon, you'll really get killed.
Relationship goals: Being brothers in arms with your talking bird friend
I don't like how high my Harmony karma is...
RIP in Paildramons, Professor Digimon Survive 😔😔😔
I also don't like how they use 'all right' instead of alright.
Minoru and Falcomon 🥺🥺🥺
I find it interesting how Diatrymon is like, "What is this!?" when he first evolves.
For this battle, I decided to go Perfect level instead of straight to Mega, with the exception of MetalSeadramon. I just started feeling nostalgic for them.
Agumon: What's he mean, "friendly ones"?
Falcomon: The allies, who are nice to everyone.
Labramon: I'm Aoi's friendly one! I'm nice to her!
Gomamoooon!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Tumblr media
Falcomon: I'll be your wingman!
More like you'll be his wingmon, but okay.
Decided to go Champion level this time around.
Saki: There's no way you guys can know me! We just met, didn't we?!
Floramon: I know everything about you, Saki!
Saki: Really? Amazing!
I don't know why, I find this kinda amusing.
Jealous much, Floramon?
Shuuji: AAAAUGH!
The game: Exploration time! Everything is fine! :D
Agumon: That's Floramon, and Lopmon!
Takuma: You know them?
Agumon: Nope, first time I've ever seen 'em! Nice to meet you!
Agumon 🥺🥺🥺
Can't believe they killed off Professor Digimon Survive twice in the same chapter 😔😔😔
Fangmon: I was after that little one, but my hand slipped.
You call those hands?
Aoi and Labramon 🥺🥺🥺
In all seriousness, though, the Professor's "death" feels very tragic. WhiIe it's obvious from previous playthroughs that he's not really dead, the group's reaction to it, as well as the music playing in the background, really make it hit hard for me.
The same goes for Fangmon's death as well. While it's true that he was meant to be a bad guy who straight up tried to kill the Survive gang, the way his death played out just felt gruesome, even if no actual gore was shown.
Or maybe I'm just a big wuss.
This post took me hours to make. I wish I was joking. It's 11:59 PM as I'm typing this.
Anyways, tune in next time to see me 🥺🥺🥺 at more characters!

Afterthoughts Story : Cyber Sleuth
Tumblr media
Game: Digimon Story : Cyber Sleuth (March 12, 2015)
Console: Nintendo Switch
Alright, let's do this. So, my last RPG that I played through before taking a break so I wouldn't have anything overlapping with the most important game ever coming out this Friday Is Digimon Cyber Sleuth, obviously. I got this game for Christmas a few years back now but didn't end up playing it until this year, and finally beat it right at the end of October. So here I am, telling you about my wonderful digiexperience!
Like always, not a review, just my thoughts. Please don't take my word as gospel, just my impressions while playing. Play anything I talk about you that interests you.
SPOILERS FOR DIGIMON CYBER SLEUTH AHEAD, PROCEED WITH CAUTION! THERE'S NO SPOILERS FOR HACKER'S MEMORY THOUGH!
Opening
So, honestly, as much as I enjoy Digimon from afar. I've never been a hard core Digimon guy. I've seen a bit of Adventures, I always liked the designs, and I follow that Digimon a day twitter that has shown me a lot of AMAZING creatures from it. But truth be told, I just never really got into the series. However I saw how popular this game seemed to be, and knew it was a turnbased RPG, so I figured it'd be a great jumping in point for me. And honestly, I was right! I had a fantastic time with this game!
Stuff I liked
I was very pleasantly surprised by this game. I really wasn't sure what to expect since Digimon is a little out of my wheelhouse, but honestly I think this was a really solid RPG with a lot of high points. I think the graphics are nice, it's not the most mind blowing thing visually outside of EDEN but when you go into digital worlds I think the game looks SUPER cool and felt like playing Summer Wars. Which makes sense, but still lol. The soundtrack is also REALLY good, much to no one's surprise, I particularly enjoyed the battle themes. The boss theme and the Eater themes were my favorites, but I also enjoyed the song that plays in the Digital Shift dungeons and the Digital World.
The gameplay was very good too and honestly really surprising to me. I know they're wildly different series, but I HAVE been playing through the Pokemon games lately, so I couldn't help but draw comparisons between the two. And while this is a monster collection game, they play NOTHING alike. In fact, Cyber Sleuth plays a LOT more like a traditional JRPG. And personally, I really like that. Things are a little linear which is fine for my lizard brain. But particularly I think the combat helps this game feel a lot faster than Pokemon can at times. Since every battle has you with 3 monsters that you can swap out during combat, and fully deck out with multiple pieces of equipment, and even completely change their movelist to your liking whenever you want. I think it works very well and while it is SIMILAR to Pokemon, and it might be more my style, I think it's good that they're so different, I don't know if I'd want Pokemon to straight up rip this off even if I think there is some convenience and maybe even some polish it could borrow from this?
In regards to that polish, I do love that every Digimon is like a full fledged party member in a more traditional RPG sense. But something I was REALLY shocked by was the amount of animations each Digimon has. They all have a standard attack, signature attack, buff, damage, death, and victory animation totally unique to themselves! From what I noticed, they're not even copied between evolutions. AND your current party follows you on the map, it's really cool! I also enjoy that digimon you aren't using can be put on the farm to gather items and sidequests, or even be fed to your other Digimon for EXP. It's small but it's a neat addition.
And as long as I'm on the subject of the monsters themselves, if you've seen my thoughts on the Pokemon games you know a HUGE aspect of those games for me is the Pokedex of the region. The monsters really make or break the monster collection game for me, of course. They're the main reason I'm playing it! And while it might be unfair to give it praise for this, since it's had years of monsters to pull from. As an outsider of the series, Cyber Sleuth MORE than delivers on its monster catalogue! There are SO many monsters to meet and recruit through the game, and so many of them were brand new to me! Obviously I had the classics I know like Agumon (one of my personal faves cause, dinosaur) but there were SO many new Digimon I had never heard of before that I fell in love with. Stuff like Pumpkinmon, Geckomon, Lekismon, Zubamon (who I just learned can turn into a sword!? SO BAD ASS!!), and my new personal favorite: Groundramon! It seemed like there was ALWAYS something new to find even when I digivolving the same creature over and over, I was always finding new creatures and still didn't get most of the catalogue filled.
Outside of that stuff, I enjoyed the story a lot. There were a lot of turns and twists that kept it interesting, and I always really enjoy plots about the relationship between the real world and cool MMOs. I think the Eden Syndrome stuff is probably a little tried but it worked! I thought the Eaters were mysterious and freaky. I liked how the plot was framed around solving cases as a detective, it was a very unique format for an RPG. I liked a lot of the characters, they were all very fun. Nokia and Yuuko were funny, I liked Arata, and Kyoko was SO hot! The game is also hilarious! It sometimes gives the energy of like "we weren't given a proper script to translate so we went a little nuts" but honestly I think it worked. The game is serious when it needs to be but is still super funny when it can be and is generally very unhinged at times in a good way. Overall it was a very fun and funny experience!
Also, the ending where you're rebuilt from the memories of your Digimon team was SO cute, I loved that, what a cute little detail as a final goodbye from your party.
Stuff I didn't like
However, as you can probably tell from the translation thing, this game is a little rough around the edges. I'd say overall the quality is very high, but there's a couple things here and there that make it feel not 100% there, if that makes sense?
So, a small one that didn't come up a lot but came up more than you'd expect was text formatting issues. This makes sense because Japanese text can probably fit a whole novel into the textboxes, while English text can be a lot longer. But sometimes text would go off screen, or there would be times where I could select lines in a dialogue box that was CLEARLY not a dialogue choice? Or sometimes I felt like they'd attribute the lines to the wrong characters. It never massively got in the way, and most of the time it's not an issue. But it's still odd and something I've never seen before.
Then there's the character designs. I like the protagonist's design. I like Kyoko and Yuuko too. And obviously the Digimon rule. But like Arata and the detective and Date all kinda look basic? Like I maybe couldn't pick them out of a crowd? And it weirded me out the WHOLE time that Nokia looked almost identical to me. Was us being separated at birth removed from our memories too? I felt similarly about Jimiken, who really didn't look as cool or noticeable (despite looking like Jimiken) to be a reoccurring threat through so much of the early game. Overall I don't think any character designs are bad, just some of them are underwhelming among the humans.
The only real issues I have with the Digimon are that there's too many Vaccine types. I ended up having tons that turned into Vaccines in the end and basically had no null types. It was very odd. And also, I do kinda wish you could digivolve for the stats without having to change the Digimon's designs. Some of them have great designs but their digivolutions kinda... suck. Like Geckomon's evo looks really stupid imo, so I had to turn him into Whamon. Who changed from Virus to Vaccine. Stuff like that genuinely got under my skin sometimes. I don't like Zabueagermon. That name is stupid. I like Zabumon. Give him back to me!
However, my biggest problem with this game. Is that it can kinda drag sometimes. In a few ways. Some smaller ways are like, when you need a new mission. Instead of just giving it to you, sometimes they make you leave the office, get a call, then IMMEDIATELY walk back inside the office. Or worse, you have to walk all the way somewhere to get a job, then go back to the office to accept, THEN GO BACK to where you got the job and continue. Or sometimes characters will just kinda talk on and on and on forever until I'm totally lost from the conversation. I know it's kind of the joke with Kyoko, but it happens a lot and especially towards the end of the game. Genuinely took me out of some story moments where I couldn't keep up with what long-winded comparison she was going on about.
And that ties into my final thought on this, that the game kinda starts to drag in general towards the end. Like, it feels like nothing is happening for a large portion of the game, then the portal opens and things get exciting. And then things just kinda stop and start dragging again. Even story relevant stuff just didn't feel exciting or sometimes out of place. The worst example being when you travel to an alternative reality to get a character who died off screen to come help you because he's still alive in this world. Was that world a reference to a Digimon series I should've been aware of? This new character who joins you from this reality just shows up out of NOWHERE and realistically this whole situation is kinda meaningless? Like this didn't need to happen, it just does for some reason and then kinda never gets addressed again. WE WENT TO AN ALTERNATE REALITY? Idk it just feels very odd. And then some late game dungeons just kinda go on or are kinda repeats of earlier dungeons with tedious copy/paste puzzles. And then you finally get to the end and you have to fight the same security system over and over until you FINALLY get to the final boss. Again it's not the end of the world, but after a bit I really like feel like the game was just overstaying its welcome a little.
Final Thoughts
Honestly though? Overall I think this game was FANTASTIC and a really good introduction to Digimon for me! I didn't even fully go into some other systems and concepts I enjoyed like crossover attacks, how you recruit digimon by scanning them, the theming of dungeons using firewalls and you actually having to hack stuff using computer functions. It's cute!
Color me intrigued, I'm certainly interested in Digimon now. I know there's a remarkable amount of RPGs and Fighting games in the series, so I'll probably check out some of those. I might watch some of the anime. I'm a little card game crazy and Groundramon has a few cards in the TCG! I'm even working on my first Digifake and joined a Digimon Discord with some of my friends. There's a whole new digital world for me to jump into!
===
Thanks for reading! I totally understand why Digimon is so beloved by people, and it was genuinely really fun to finally dive into something from it full on. SO MANY COOL REPTILES IN THIS SERIES! You can see my full team right here (x)!
As for Hacker's Memory. I'm not gonna play that right now. It's longer than the base game. That's not DLC, that's a sequel!! Which is a great deal for sure! But, sheesh! I'll be sure to play it later!
I also want to give a shoutout to Helryu on Deviantart! Usually for the game cover banners at the top of posts I'll take banners from online stores, twitch, or news sites. Stuff that's probably game assets already. But they actually didn't have one for JUST cyber sleuth, they all came with Hacker's memory. So I was very happy to see Helryu did the dirty work for me. Thank you! They make lots of twitch game banners so go check them out if you need any.
That's all from me! Go out and play a game from a big franchise you've wanted to check out!

(for the ocverse asks (if i'm allowed to do multiple) answer for whichever ocverse you wish)
3, 17, 24
multiple is more than fine! the more questions the merrier!
3 - "any recurring images/elements?"
let's see... for Maroon Z in particular, hearts are a very prominent form of imagery! (Ideally, I want the audience's stomach to drop a little when heart iconography shows up by the end of the story...?! but we'll see ←has been rewriting the back end of the story a ton). They act as an emblem that represents the concept of a magical girl. This also includes both the cartoony "❤️" kind of heart, but also the more literal kind of heart.
To speak way more broadly, I think that hand-holding imagery is really prominent in just about any story of mine ... it's a way to share power, it's a way to show simple affection, and so forth! it's very versatile imagery! and, it's just nice to make characters hold hands. (as an aside, you might read below and think, "oh, did they pick this up from pretty cure?", but this repeated imagery actually stems from tag battle-related pokéani headcanons from when i was a kid.)
17 - "describe the "required reading" to understand your vision. be as pretentious as possible."
to speak more broadly again, pokéani is probably kind of required to understand just about anything I write (lmao?).. it kind of forms a "backbone" in how i interact with making my own stories. at the same time, there's also stuff I watched a little as a young kid that left a big impact on me even if I don't remember a lot about it, like Ojamajo Doremi, or the 4kids show Chaotic, or random manga i picked up from libraries over the years... (though, I guess the question asks for specifics and not broad things...)
When it comes to Maroon Z, Futari wa Pretty Cure is definitely required (and... maybe RGU depending on how much my brain chemistry is altered by the time I finish watching it). In general, I think having an understanding of Pretty Cure is pretty necessary for understanding any of my magical girl OCs, since it's been really influential for me.
For my OCs that are of the "mons genre" ... well, again, pokéani (specifically DP) informs a lot. i think the digimon series adventure 02, tamers, and appmon are also kind of necessary to understanding how I approach the genre? (kinda bakugan too). To give a more specific example, I think that to understand what I'm going for with something like Imagination Defenders (i still wish i had a better title for that...), I think Tamers, Bakugan Battle Planet, and Xros Wars Hunters (←also a Digimon series & it honestly executes exactly the kind of setting I'd been imagining for ImaD...). Video games are an important influence, too! For example, it's easiest to understand Avi Battler if you're familiar with both Appmon and Smash Bros (specifically custom fighters/amiibo fighters in smash 4).
Well, I don't know of all of that is necessarily required reading, but I like talking about the kinds of things that influence the stories I make.
24 - "best scene youve written?"
hm... this one kind of depends on how you define "written". I'm good at coming up with stuff, but not nearly as good at remembering to actually write it down...
When it comes to "published" things, I still like the ending of the Maroon Z pilot comic.
When it comes to unpublished things (and also still not written down things...), I'm actually really excited about how the rewrites for parts of Maroon Z as a whole are going & how they tie things together. Lately, I've also been having fun writing things up for MonRev and Avi Battler (especially the latter, since it's about video games).

Operation is a Go
Word Count: 860
Prompt: “Sibling Shenanigans,” Day 1 of Takari Week 2021
Featured Characters: Tai Kamiya & Matt Ishida
A/N: I love love stories. A lot. Rom coms are some of my favorite movies. But I think something I love a little more is when someone else is involved in the story. Not in a love triangle sort of way, in a “let’s get them together!” sort of way. That’s the vibe I hoped to get across here! So, although this features Tia and Matt, this is very much a Takari story. I hope you enjoy!
@takariweek
If even Tai could see it, then it had to be obvious. Now if only Kari and T.K. could see it, too.
Matt raised an eyebrow as he peered across the table at Tai, who had his thinking face on. It was his intense thinking face, actually, his face all scrunched up as he tried to process something in that brain of his. He waited for Tai to say something, taking a sip of the soda he'd ordered to be polite.
"I think," Tai finally said, "that Kari and T.K. were meant for each other."
"What else is new?" Matt deadpanned, leaning back in his seat. "Been pretty obvious for years."
"No, I mean…" Tai sighed. "I don't think they know."
"T.K. is pretty oblivious when it comes to his own best friend," Matt mused. "Maybe I should ask him."
"Maybe I should ask Kari, too." Tai narrowed his eyes. "Wait. Is this—"
"Tai, no—"
"OPERATION: GET THE SIBLINGS TOGETHER!"
"Oh, Lord."
~ ~ ~
Considering the impulsive nature of Operation: Get the Siblings together, Tai and Matt had come up with a fairly solid plan. Not that asking their siblings how they felt about their best friend was something complicated. Still, they knew they would have to be very particular about their interrogations. Neither of their hellishly observant siblings could know what they were trying to do.
Unfortunately, plans could only work so well.
Tai was anything but subtle. He tried, he really tried, but he was buzzing with the knowledge that Kari could be happy—really, really happy—if she and T.K. just got their act together. And it was his duty as the big brother to ensure his sister's happiness, right?
"How's T.K. doing?" he asked one morning as he made some eggs for his sister. "I haven't heard from him in a while."
"Good. Got a gaggle of girls always flocking around him like geese," she said, munching on a piece of toast. Her hand absentmindedly stroked Gatomon's head while her Digimon curled up on the table. They had long since learned not to shoo her off the table, thanks to those gloves of hers.
"Girls, huh?" Tai murmured, a bolt of panic shooting through him. "How do you feel about that?"
He could feel her eyes burning into his back. His tone hadn't been nearly casual enough. She knew. She knew she knew she knew.
"I'm indifferent," Kari finally said, and Tai looked at her over his shoulder. "I can tell he doesn't really feel the same way about those girls, anyway."
"And how do you feel, Kari?" Tai asked, biting his tongue to keep from saying something even stupider and not according to the plan. He could hear Matt slapping his own face.
Kari met his eyes with a serious look on her face. "Do you have a crush on T.K., Tai?"
"NO—"
"Oh." She didn't look completely convinced, but she shrugged and looked down at her plate, which spoke volumes. "I guess… I dunno. I care about him."
"Mm-hm," Tai hummed, turning back around with a smile. Hook, line, and sinker.
~ ~ ~
"How's Kari doing?" Matt asked, his voice as flat as he could make it as he finished making breakfast for his younger brother.
"Tai hasn't told you? She's pretty much the most popular girl in school." T.K. yawned, hugging Patamon to his chest as he lazily watched Matt putter around the kitchen.
"I don't think Tai knows about that." Matt chuckled, imagining the pride on his best friend's face that would turn into sheer anger the moment anybody tried to bother his precious baby sister.
"Probably for the best," T.K. agreed, probably envisioning the carnage that would ensue as well.
"How do you feel about her being so popular?" Matt's eyes shifted over to T.K., trying to assess his brother's expression, which was, for the most part, blank.
T.K. shrugged. "She hangs out with who she likes, and that's all that matters."
"Hm." Matt couldn't really figure out another way to word his next question, so he went for it, much to his own dismay: "And how do you feel about Kari?"
Instead of answering, T.K. tilted his head and gave his older brother a crooked smile. "Do you like Kari, Matt?"
"NO—" Matt nearly burned his shirt, he spun around so fast. "Just answer the question!"
The smile softened. "She's my favorite person. Besides you, of course."
Matt reached over and ruffled his brother's hair. "You're a funny one."
"I know," T.K. said cheerfully. "Thanks for breakfast."
And thank you, Matt thought.

"So they like each other," Tai deduced, sitting in the same spot he had just a few days ago. He crossed his arm and pouted in the way that Matt knew meant he was satisfied with the outcome of this "operation."
"What do we do now? Just telling them isn't going to solve anything," Matt said, sipping yet another ordered-to-be-polite soda.
"I—" Tai frowned. "I didn't think about that."
Matt sighed. "Back to square one, then?"
Tai nodded solemnly. "Operation: Figure Out How to Get T.K. and Kari Together."
"Oh, Lord."

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 - Disc-2
Aww, no more full-color chapters this time around :'( it was fun while it lasted. I wonder why this manga never came out in America? I know Digimon didn't make it as big as Pokemon, but I would think it's big enough, no? Maybe they thought the alternate-world Taichi would be too confusing for kids which...fair.
Ch. 11
-This chapter was pretty creepy. The premise (a village going crazy and everyone killing each other) was already low key creepy pasta worthy, but the way the artist draws Zeromaru in crazy/brainwashed mode was pretty unsettling. Not to oversell it, in the end it's a pretty standard "teammates used against each other" plot.
-Something about an evil Patamon is pretty funny. He's too cute to be evil!
-I don't like Demon's design (didn't like his anime design either). The only part that's kinda cool is the "missing data" on his arm and mid-section.
-Seems kinda messed up that the digivice can make a digimon full instantly. Depriving your friend of the joys of eating :'(
Ch. 12
-Another Digimon World-like reference where Taichi talks about force feeding Zeromaru and not cleaning up his poop. Ah...so glad I never have to play that game again lol.
-Is Taichi wearing loose socks? Very 2000s of him. I miss that fad...
Ch. 13
-Digivice abilities so far: scan enemy digimon, transmit data to partner (commands, food, abilities). Seems pretty OP. I hope they don't over rely on it.
-There's a lot of Engrish in this manga ("deep saver," "wake up combination"). I wonder if the random "cool" English in manga motivates kids to learn at all...
Ch. 14
-This chapter was basically all gags and no tags. Just as useless as the Starmon episode in the anime!
-New digivice ability: it can scan books and then upload that info to your partner's brain. Again...kinda OP. Of course, they nerfed it by making Taichi's doodles cause trouble, so I guess it's fine.
Ch. 15
-Edgy rival guy appears! He kinda looks like a discount Killua. He doesn't appear to be brainwashed like Ken? Who knows though...
-TWO digivices!?
Tumblr media
No but really, what's the point in having two? That's stupid.
-Another OP power added to Taichi's digivice: It can unlock any electronic lock
-So Etemonkey was wholesome all along!? :'( poor guy. Rival dude said his lifespan is like 120 hours!? Geez I didn't know we were going by game logic THAT much.
-Wow, Jogress evolution! I'm glad I'm reading this after Digimon Adventure 02 or else I might be confused by some of the stuff they're throwing at me with zero explanation.
-Rival guy's name is...Neo Saiba. How am I supposed to take that seriously? Makes me think of Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh!
Ch. 16
-Well that got dark pretty quick. Neo sacrifices a Metal Greymon for the sake of collecting data. The fact that the Metal Greymon's only reason for existing was to prove himself to Neo was really sad. RIP.
-So I realize that "Neo Saiba" isn't a first name but a first and last name lol, Idk why I thought otherwise. I guess I'm just so used to hearing digimon with two names at this point.
-Another digivice ability. Apparently you can use it to straight up kill a digimon? (Or "delete," as they worded it). I wonder if it's a real kill or if MetalGreymon gets to turn back into a digi-egg...
Ch. 17
-This chapter got a little violent with Zero bleeding from the nose and mouth and then ripping off Skull Satamon's arms. I bet if you were an 8 year old reading this that would be really intense!
-Apparently anger can give digimon a power boost. I wonder if other emotions have any effect?
-The official release actually ends here for volume 2 which seems weird, but it's because there's a huge chunk of omake materials at the end including C'mon Digimon! I've been reading the scanlations, but I think I'll have to buy the real deal to get that sweet bonus content.
