Mickey sips his beer, fighting the urge to rip off his shoulder-length wig. He cannot believe Mandy talked him into coming to this bullshit. He tugs uncomfortably on his metal arm and thinks he might kill himself if he sees anyone he knows.

As if on cue, Mandy’s best friend cuts through the crowd.

“You, Mickey Milkovich, are such a fucking nerd,” Ian says wryly. Idly, Mickey wonders if he’ll be able to throw a punch wearing all this leather.

“A total loser—” Ian unzips his coat, revealing a skin-tight Captain America costume. “—just like me.”

Mickey grins.
