How do the researchers react to the clan cats leaving the lake for a time?

You mean the little patrols they send out?

They aren't aware of them, EXCEPT for the Beaver Expedition that Dovepaw was on. They found out about that one because they got a phone call from the team in charge of the beaver introduction.

It was NERVE WRACKING. Both teams were terrified the other would injure their subjects. They were horrified when the cats dug out the top of the dam and pulled the squealing baby beavers out, thinking this was going to end BADLY, but practically cried in relief and excitement when the Clan cats baited the parents towards the lake.

(I like to imagine someone on the beaver team ended up hitting it off with someone on the Clan cat team. The wedding cake was cats and beavers.)

But generally? They don't know about expeditions. Sometimes they catch them leaving, but don't have the funding to chase them down.

Clan cats are also not under constant surveillance. Very important to understand this. Clan cats will attack anything that upsets them and good cameras are expensive; they snuck one into the ThunderClan Camp once in like 2009, and Firestar dug it up at the stake and dropped it down the WindClan border ravine because it was freaking his warriors out.

(The cats don't understand that the cameras watch; they just don't like the Freaky Human Thing)

So the team has to be careful, not install too many, and hide the ones they do have. They don't want the cats to move again.

#I try to make sure that my researchers are more like actual wildlife scientists than gods. Yknow?#I think it's more interesting that they have funding issues and can't just install endless cameras #PLUS the cats reach the lake around 2008-ish. So I try to keep the technology accurate #Re: a lot of this is based off techniques they had to use for capturing the footage on Meerkat Manor #I also use the wayback machine to reference the Sirtrack catalogue which was cutting edge tech at the time #And mind you! This isn't meerkat manor. These researchers are ridiculously underfunded #Have i ever mentioned that i loved meerkat manor as a kid? hey. artists who make process videos but want to expend the least amount of effort possible:

fake that shit. finish your piece and then make your lineart white and color it back in. mask your color layers and then un-mask them with brushstrokes. choose something eye catching to copypaste and do that a couple times. add bits of glow/sparkle/foliage/freckles/whatever else is relevant

if you get like three shots like this and then have the rest be video of your finished work no one will know. no one will CARE I promise. do not give your soul to the Microcontent Wheel it is Not worth it

my brother, a most pretentious lotr fan, snatched up the extended edition hot off the shelf and for weeks it was the only thing on the tv all day long. I've seen every commentary, every special feature . . . twice. maybe more. I didn't have a choice.

#a butterfly obsesses #I've forgotten so much but still #maybe I just don't hang out with nerdy enough people and the rest of you know all this but:#billy boyd every time Minas Tirith is on the screen: I love Minas Tirith #Dominic Monaghan: shut. up.#sean austin forgot to put his waistcoat on for the scene where they all say farewell to frodo so they had to reshoot the whole thing #everybody had to cry again. but the second recording ended up blurry and they had to reshoot a 3rd time. nobody was happy with sean #when sam shows up to fight shelob his hand and sheathed sword appear first like the start of a duel in a western #that's actually peter jackson's hand #sean austin could 'see' shelob when they were filming those scenes. he could very vividly imagine her.#after he saw some cgi test footage of her he lost the ability to imagine her and had to work to get it back #dominic or billy I forget but one stole a skull from the scenes with the army of the dead #after pirates of the Caribbean came out they had to change the design for the army of the dead because the ghost designs were too similar #they built a huge dead Oliphaunt for the battlefield (peter wanted it to be bigger tho)#the people linking up plastic rings for the chain mail wore away their fingerprints on their pointer fingers and thumbs #they basically thawed a frozen stream so andy serkis could dive in and chase a fish in the ice-cold water #I want to say it was billy boyd who had to get a dental procedure done and opted to do with without being numbed #because he had to shoot a scene right after. however he sweated so much his hobbit feet came off #by the time they were put back on the medication would have worn off anyway #viggo mortensen got part of a front tooth chipped off and wanted to finish the scene before having it fixed but they forced him to go #when auditioning horses for the scene the horse kneels down to let the wounded aragorn get on a horse was disqualified for sit on the dummy #the HUGE ring they used for perspective shots

The 'Enjoying watch you suffer' line in Broadcast has always been hard to pin down; Tim's leg getting broken is the biggest incident in Entry #35, so it's natural to want to tie the two together, but it seems to fit so indelicately into what we know about the timeline of totheark's internal relationship that it almost causes more problems than it resolves. However, even though it's very blink and miss it, Tim does actually manage to stab Alex in the arm before he gets knocked down -- we hear Alex cry out in pain, can see blood on the blade when Jay picks it up, and then in the recovered corrupted footage from that tape that Jay posts as Entry #36 Alex says "I did what I had to... he'd just stabbed me" -- and that injury being what totheark was trying to call attention to, to me, reads a lot more clear and consistent than anything else does

#N posts stuff #marble hornets #it's so hard to figure out lol bc Tim's leg is The Thing so it feels like they should be linked but like it just doesn't seem to flow #and the timeline of s2 is so mangled by the mix mash and retreading ground of all the tapes #ie; Present!Jay uploading Past!Jay's (and Past!Alex's) tapes and commenting on them while Present!TTA responds to both #that it's hard to figure out if TTA is still working together in that Present!Time or if it's Only in the old tapes and they fell out like #Immediately after Jay got the code for the safe from them - which is Possible? We do know that Tim and Brian separated #like Right after they'd managed to separate Jay and Jess but IDK if that separation would account for the kind of anger implied in #the sentiment 'enjoying watching you suffer' you know? And Jay doesn't get Tim's medical records until s3 - which we KNOW #is the Final Death Knell in TTA's relationship and i don't think Brian would have sat on those for so long so i feel like he hadn't #found them by this point in s2 - that must have come later. so That makes this line feel so out of place in their relationship #BUT if Brian is paying more attention to Alex than Tim at this point then it makes A Lot more sense if it's directed at him #and since the creators Specifically included that corrupted footage that makes Sure to get 'he stabbed me' clear in audio AND #in Jay's subtitles - I wonder if that's an attempt to draw attention to that injury and maybe clarify the TTA upload a little bit?#OR you know maybe I'm reading into it all too much but hey. with this series that's actually a pretty solid living so #mh lb #i'm rewatching bc i'm about to start giving the Bleed More fic another attempt at getting finished and finalized so. keep an eye out :3c

wow can't believe red dead redemption 2 only consists of 3 chapters with an open ending who would have thought

#i actually didnt sleep yesterday and almost played the whole time #been pushing the story because in the first two chapters i basically just rode around and explored stuff for 50hrs #so yesterday night/today i did basically ch4 to epilogie pt1 #still at epilogue i just did stuff so i could save and went to a certain grave #i dont think any other character (fate) broke my heart as hard as arthur morgan did #may add more tags later #i have like 80+gb of footage recorded on my ps4 #mostly when something weird happened or cutscenes with arthur or him coughing #im something of a masochist myself

i keep having this dream about a video game that doesnt exist that fills me with the most inexplicable feeling of dread for many months now. nothing scary ever even happens in it just general nss-level gameplay and atmosphere. but during the dream and when i wake up i just feel sick. the dreams dont fade either i can recall the visuals from each dream even now with fairly crisp clarity. and even when theres new characters in a new scene in a new location i know its That Game. idk man reoccurring dreams are so weird

#im always recording it too. like im either aware im playing and filming it or im watching the footage back like i would when i make a video #and im always dreading playing it again. and dreading editing it. idk maybe its a burnout dream #i need my nervous system taken apart and put back together with new parts by someone who actually knows what they're doing this time #digi discusses #oh i should add its an enjoyable and beautiful game like obviously theres a reason i keep going back to it in the dream #but it just makes me feel cursed fhdhdhdhdhd

video editing is so fun... (specifically cutting down hours of gameplay into a highlights format)

#lizz.txt #it feels really ironic to post about video editing being fun when that's all i've been doing for the past 3 weeks LOL #but i haven't been able to edit something in highlights format since late november 2023 (which is my favorite type of editing)#technically i could've edited the big run recording from december but i was intimidated by the 12 hr-ish length #but after working on my friend and i's video essay im like 'actually cutting down 12 hr footage is way easier' LMAOO #and since im 99% done with that and i had some time to spare tonight i started to work through some recordings :D #there's two major ones i want to work through... a splatoon 1 revisit with friends + big run #hoping to have those done by the end of february at the latest!! but ideally i'd like to have it done earlier because!!!#i'm interested in recording eggstra work (not that they've announced it) as well as um. reload #i have so much positive regard for the characters in p3 that i'm like 'i don't think i can control the words that come out of my mouth-#when i'm very excited about something' so i'd like to have my playthrough documented somewhere LOL even if i dont post it!!!#sometimes i think about how when i was playing fe3h i got to the sylvain and felix A+ support and HOW I LOST MY MIND ON VC #and IT WAS SO FUNNY bc i spent like 10 minutes watching that support conversation because every line of dialogue made my brain explode #AND SOMEWHERE in the middle of it my mom called me and i was like (hyperventilating) “HI MOM! DID YOU KNOW! It seemed like the entire world was crushing on the same man: Tom Blyth

Unfortunately for those who watched The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and came out of the theater in love with the man who played Coriolanus Snow, he was happily taken and loved to talk about his girlfriend any chance he got, which lead to fans making several compilations about the times he was a simp over his girl.

The most popular video was a 10 minute and 33 seconds compilation, which had around 445k views.

It started with Tom's interview with Good Morning America to talk about Billy the Kid, the interviewer asking about how he prepared for the role.

"It was during the pandemic, like any actor during that time I was just hoping that the world came back to normal so I could start making a cent," everyone in the set laughed at this, "I was living with my girlfriend YN in a barn house and we were like chopping wood every morning and visiting my friend's ranch. So when I got the part I kinda felt like I was ready for it."

"Your girlfriend, you say," one of the interviewers said making Tom smile right away, "Did she help you prepare for the role too?

"Of course she did, she's my biggest supporter ever."

The video moved to show some behind the scenes of Songbirds and Snakes footage, Tom dressed in his peacekeeper costume and dancing around while Rachel recorded him.

"See this moves?" he got closer to the camera, "I used them to charm my girlfriend."

"And I doubt they worked." Rachel laughed behind the camera.

"She loves me so I'm pretty sure they did."

The next thing shown was Tom sitting next to Hunter as they did an interview for Rolling Stone, the crew just asked about their thoughts on Olivia Rodrigo's single for the movie.

"I love Olivia Rodrigo," Hunter cheerfully said, throwing her arms up to the air, "The new album is so good."

"I'm a big fan as well," Tom joined in, "My girlfriend YN, she's obsessed with her, plays her songs all the time."

"Just so everyone knows, YN is like the coolest person ever," Hunter said, making Tom smile, "She brought us snacks on set so many times, such an angel."

"She's the best."

The following footage was Tom and Rachel's rapid-fire questions with Vogue.

"Can you guess where this is from?" Rachel asked holding up a card that showed a zoomed in picture of a suit.

"That's my Prada suit from the London premiere," Tom asked confidently, Rachel confirming that he was correct, "My girlfriend YN loved that suit, that's why It's one of my favorites."

"Oh I miss YN."

"So do I, so do I."

Next clip was Tom's interview Stephen Colbert, who just asked him if he was a fan of the books growing up.

"I was such a huge fan, I grew up watching the films. My mom and sister used to go to opening weekends to see the movies," the audience cheered at that, "Actually, for my third date with my girlfriend I took her to see the last movie, so getting to play a young president Snow is a real honor."

The video quickly moved to show the lat clip, one of Tom's interviews at the London premiere of the movie.

"Are you here on your own? No date?" The interviewer said once Tom finished answering the previous question.

"I'm here with my girlfriend, actually," his face beamed as he spoke, "She's probably somewhere taking selfies with Hunter, those two are like best friends."

"Is she close to your cast mates?" the interviewer asked again.

"Definitely, they try to steal her from me and I can't blame them, she's the best."
