i'm gonna put my theory out here because if i'm right, i'm going to feel like the smartest woman alive but.

we all know this art, right? we know that it's official art? it's not fan art, it's real, "canon" in some capacity.

if yukino can learn how to use stardresses mere moments after learning of their existence, is it such a stretch to say that lucy could use her stardress through brandish's body? there's a lot of ways that i think this fight could go, but i think lucy being able to use her own magic in some capacity is the most interesting and considering the weird choice's we've seen thus far, it is absolutely not the most extreme theory.

also, plot twist?? i mean i kinda prefer this outcome compared to getting another long fight where 15 new and 15 old characters get their turns, but i also really wanna see natsu fight a dragon again (though i guess it’s coming with ignia after this)

i feel like the dormant dragon thing will turn out to have a spin where he awakens, and the whole alchemy guild will probably create some trouble, but it would be nice if they found a low-key easy solution to sealing this dragon (WHILE building up for some trouble and angst between nalu so the final fight can be completely swarmed with nalu moments)

also she’s the cutest girl ever, we’re literally the same i love her (how did she know i say this stuff all of the time, i have like 10 different people who i’ll be villainising so hard when i become famous)

yukino didn’t need an entire year to get her stardresses. that’s not the problem here - but she still got both of them way too fast.

i want to point out first that yukino doesn’t have a lot of keys - only 2 golden keys and an undefined amount of silver keys. point is: she’s not a fighter. she’s even more of a pacifist than lucy is (lucy fights when necessary, but uses brain over brawn. yukino avoids fights - not all the time, but she likely doesn’t take as crazy jobs as lucy. sting has master duties, it’s confirmed that minerva has become more dormant and rogue probably does his fair amount of jobs whenever sting/minerva can/wants to. he probably goes on jobs with yukino too but why pick the extreme ones is they can get a decent pay for a calmer job. natsu is probably the one who picks the hardest jobs that involve most fighting, and since they take turns in team natsu it’s not unheard of for them to take the wild jobs).

yukino uses her golden keys a LOT, since they’re her triumph cards. she’s in tune with them on a level that is hard for lucy to get since she has a higher quantity of keys. lucy had the connection with aquarius, but she can no longer summon her.

that means that it would in fact be realistic for yukino to get one of her dresses - let’s say she gets the libra one in this chapter, since her dress might be more versatile and work better to fight with during this specific fight. i’d of course like to see her struggle a bit more, but yukino has known about lucy’s star dresses for some time because i’m pretty sure they met since fairy tail got together again. i also believe lucy would write to yukino about her keys and achievements, because their keys are unique and i think they’d like to share their experiences with each other. but since lucy’s star dresses haven’t been secret, yukino could’ve already had the idea planted in her for some time, making the transition to get the star dress easier.

i’d like it better if she didn’t get both dresses at the same time of course, that’s the biggest flaw with the chapter (and how easy it looked for yukino, despite doing it in a clutch and never having done it before), but i do believe it to be realistic for her to get a power up now that they got to fight together. i even like the fact that we get to see them together again, because we already know how powerful they are together.

idk how much sense this post made, i’m still a bit salty about how mashima and ueda made the transition look, but i guess i wanted to say that i can’t completely complain about it all

okay listen. if we had to give yukino stardresses, which i knew was going to happen inevitably because people have been on their knees begging for it, i would not have minded or cared if she had just shown up knowing how to use it. yes it would have taken away something that was uniquely lucy's, but having her just be able to do it when lucy had to sacrifice aquarius's key and then learning how to use the rest of them during the year of fairy tail's disbandment makes yukino just seem incredibly overpowered and takes away from all that growth lucy had to go through

btw lucy doesn’t have her keys now since brandish changed her clothes. just, you know, a heads up

sting and yukino were extremely cute this chapter i wanna bite their heads off (happy getting goosebumps over yukino calling sting's face cute - not sometimes cute - is also incredibly disgustingly adorable and i'm giving him a fat wet kiss on his little forehead bc of it)

i knew yukino getting stardresses was inevitable but it’s kind of incredible how they went about it in the single worst way possible
