The wedding day unfolded in a relax way, just match with our couple's personality.

Love Story
March is now over and so is our prenup shoot. But guess what, we're far from over from being busy. Laira and I work hand-in-hand in working through our remaining pre-requisities for our wedding and for our honeymoon in Palawan. This is good stress though as we're enjoying that we're building our memories together.
Now that it's April, we have just celebrated our last anniversary as girlfriend and boyfriend while we'll be celebrating my birthday this weekend. Our anniversary went great - we used the spa voucher that was given to us by the parents of one of Laira's students. It was a "premium" experience as we're given a private couple room complete with a shower area and a.. wait for it.. jacuzzi. Yes, that's right. I've been longing for a jacuzzi ever since especially when I didn't get to experience one in La Bella due to fatigue post-shoot. What's surprising though is since it's right after a massage, the water in the jacuzzi has to be hot but unfortunately, it was too hot for us to really enjoy it.
Was the experience worth it based on the price you paid for it? Probably. If you rarely go to spas and you wanted the full experience then I guess the price is justified. But if you frequent spas such as Nuat Thai or call in a home service and don't mind an oily body after the session, then it will just fall under a good experience that we might never try again unless offered by someone else.
I'd like to compare this to our ever-favorite, Ace Water Spa. For just around 6000, you'll already have 2 entries in the spa, a hotel room, a breakfast buffet for two and if my memory serves me right, 2 500-peso voucher that you can use at their rooftop resto-bar or at their cafe. So between this and The Spa, I might be comfortable saving up for Ace Water Spa instead - you'll get the whole day for you to do whatever you want at their premises (nearby as well) rather than being limited just for ~2 hours.
We were supposed to eat at Modern Shanghai due to good reviews but as we've already eaten Chinese food in TuanTuan on our exact anniversary day, we've opted for CIBO but seeing later on that most of the reviews mentions that it's overrated and expensive, we ended at Banapple as they're now offering a smaller serving of their delectable ribs. We also went back to Toby's Estate but sadly, I mistakenly ordered the wrong drink. It was a Chai Chocolate - it has ginger which while is "okay" for me, it was not a fun drink at all.
We strolled around SM Megamall afterwards hoping to finally purchase my wedding shoes but after a few realizations such as a hard-shelled shoes can be a bit uncomfortable depending on the thickness of the socks you're wearing as well as on how you walk, I decided to do a bit more research rather than jump the gun that day.
This week, we'll be dining at Senor Pollo again after so many years (this is the restaurant we ate on our very first date) and try to check if there are Rastaclats still in Landmark. As for the Omniverse Museum, I missed their 4.4 sale that will supposedly save us 1000. Here's to checking again on what other activities that we can do around the area.
There's so much more in store for this month. We'll also be having a get together with my cousins in BGC to try some good ramen and meet with Laira's family prior to the wedding.

SDSA article - The French Dispatch
I chose to read the article about the making of Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch for this exercise because I know how particular and complicated the sets for Anderson's films can get. Anderson's films, including The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The French Dispatch are all very crafted and stylised, meaning that the set dressing and production design in general have to fit both the era the films are set and also the incredibly unique style that Wes Anderson has adopted over the years.
In this article, American set decorator Rena DeAngelo - best known for her work on Bridge of Spies, describes her experience working on this film, working alongside Production Designer Adam Stockhausen. Something I found particularly interesting in this article is the fact that they collected all of the very unique pieces and props in France, where The French Dispatch was filmed, rather than finding them in the US and taking them to France. After reflection, this makes a lot more sense logistically and also to stay true to the French culture that Anderson was trying to emulate in the film. Something highlighted in the article by DeAngelo, was that they wanted to show the fictional town of Ennui-Sur-Blasé in a way that was both post and pre-war Paris. In DeAngelo's words "Not shiny clean Paris, but a sootier, dirtier, seedier version with beautiful architecture, just not scrubbed clean." Personally, I really like this approach as it not only makes for a much more interesting job for the production design team, but it also shows audiences another side to French cities - and big cities in general - which are not always objectively attractive or perfect like in most movies.
DeAngelo describing the process of finding props by going to flea markets and prop houses in France really inspires me to delve more into set design as I really like doing that in my own time and doing it as a job would be perfect. Something I never really realised was how long of a process it was to prepare for dressing a set. DeAngelo mentions in the article that it took 6 weeks to prepare - just in Paris alone - and when they arrived at the shooting location they never stopped looking for props and set dressings as they "went to the Chartre and Le Mans flea markets which happened on the 15th and 16th of each month. We raced through these sales that were only open from 7 am to 2 pm for the one day." This made me realise that there is a lot more organisation that comes into production design than I anticipated. Another thing that I took from this article, was as well as being able to go to all of these incredible warehouses, markets and shops, the production design team for this project got to go to a lot of amazing small towns in France, which sounds amazing. Additionally, DeAngelo talks about how she got to work with carpenters and furniture builders based in France and how their work ethic and way of working was so different to how she was used to working in the US. This makes me so excited to enter the industry so that I can experience other cultures' ways of working!!

Something I had never really considered before was how much the scenes being in black and white complicate the process of set dressing. For the scenes in the Cadazio Gallery, Robert Yeoman and Wed Anderson wanted shots both in black and white and in colour which meant DeAngelo had to be incredibly careful and creative when it came to dressing the set. She explained that throughout the process of dressing, she had to use "the black and white filters on my phone to see how it was all working together as we were dressing it. We did some camera tests at the beginning but mostly I just shot it with my filters and made the determinations as I went." This just shows how much trust and skill you need to have in both yourself and your team to create something that works in two different colour schemes - taking into account lighting and composition that works for both.

Celebrating Love Amidst the Picturesque Landscapes of the Peak District National Park
We have provided an enjoyable pre-wedding photography, videography and bridal hair-styling and makeup service for a generous, sincere and friendly Hong Kong couple who based in Manchester, in Peak District National Park, central England.
Hair Styling and Makeup Trial
We first arrived our couple's home around the outskirt of Manchester to provide our pretty bride's hair styling and makeup trial service in the early morning. The bride to be has booked us for her wedding day bridal hair styling and makeup service as well.
Why don't we utilise the time we have with them and provide an engagement shoot? We have tried 2-3 styles and settled in 2 styles for her big day. After that, we changed her look to a more casual style, suitable for an adventure shoot.
Shot Plan
Designing the routes and looks of the photos according to our couples' personalties is one of our superpowers. We have proposed a few different scenes for them. Most couples opt for shooting in city centre, landmarks or green area in the city. We are glad that this couple chose Peak District, which was only 45mins to 1 hour drive away from their home. We shot on farm trail, rocks and caves. It was in deed very enjoyable.
"This is actually the place we came for sightseeing before." The bride to be recalled her memory. We finished their shoot with a couple interview. We let the couple tell their own story in the interview. We would also use the end result for their wedding video. So that the couple has a love story video, rather than a documentary of the day only.
In The Near Future
We finished our pre-wedding shoot around sunset time. The sky turned slightly yellow-orange. The warmth from the sun blushed the hills, farms, rivers and trees, which made a perfect harmonised colour for this lovely couple shoot backdrop. After that we went to a beautiful small classic British village pub for a feast. We are glad to connect with them, learn their dream and furture direction in a personal way.
We are now looking forward to provide them wedding photography, videography and bridal hair styling and makeup service in Oulton Hall Hotel, Oulton, Leeds just a couple of months after their this engagement season.
