SPOILERS FOR CH10 OF GOLDEN WILDFIRE

TLDR: Ch10 wasn't as impactful to me if you don't recruit Byleth.

I think that it would have been more impactful if Holst died instead of Judith if we, as Shez, chose to go after Byleth and, later, kill Jeralt (since doing that is a secondary quest thing that I had learned after fighting him-). You can't tell me I'm wrong here.

They pulled it off with Rodrigue pretty okayish, better than in Three Houses.

Which, by the way. Why the fuck did we not get a cutscene there, it would have been more impactful.

Anyways. Back to Three Hopes. In Rodrigue's case, with him being a playable unit and having supports with the characters, we build attachment. We watched him grow with the others, we played as him and we learned about him and his life. His death, right then and there, by the hands of Byleth, was impactful. Why not do the same with Holst?

We have supports with Holst, he has a paralogue with Hilda and Balthus, he grows with the other characters. Why not kill him off instead of Judith there? The audience already grew attached to him ever since his first appearance.

Why Judith? She was never a playable unit, and not, any of us grew closer to her. Her death wasn't as impactful as it could have been if the writers chose to kill Holst right then and there. And it could have been avoidable if she didn't run straight in with such confidence. Girlie, love you, but. No. It's Byleth.

I'm not hating on Holst, love the guy. He's very silly and he's really cool. I'm just saying that, had he died in ch10 after killing Jeralt, it would have had more impact, far more than Judith's, since we got to know him in the third chapter of the Golden Deer route. You see what I'm getting at?

That or Judith could have been a playable unit but here we are.

They're just so…. yeah, those are what siblings are like. Overbearing big brother, silly little sister who is a badass in her own right but is outwardly a helpless delicate girly girl. Holst being all brash and insanely powerful, striving to be his best to honour the family name vs Hilda just vibing and being an absolute fucking machine… everything about them, just chef's kiss fantastic.

What they go through together- How they support each other-

The way Alcryst, views Diamant as flawless, an image Diamant tries so much to maintain yet it hurts him so. That even that image is distilled in Alcryst. An image led to how he is today.

Yet despite the belief that Diamant is so flawless, so strong, Alcryst still wishes to kill his Corrupted father, so Diamant doesn’t have to bear that burden himself.

So much to report on with three hopes…Sooooo Claude’s dad doesn’t know where he is, he’s the favorite, and Shahid is only attacking to earn enough renown to be guaranteed as the heir to the throne. Shez is a mercenary for him. Count Gloucester’s name is Erwin. He yields his title and makes Lorenz the new count. Holst joins your army. Nader misses Khalid. Ferdinand is acting how Hubert did in three houses if you played Golden Deer. The empire hired Byleth and Jeralt. Alois joins Jeralt’s mercenaries. Lorenz is actually a decent guy Erwin was just pushing a lot of his own beliefs into him. Erwin’s surrender to the empire except it was an act. Margrave Edmund is contributing heavily financial wise. We were right when we thought that it would be Holst fighting Count Bergliez. Only it’s Caspar’s dad not brother. Leonie doesn’t bring Jeralt up every five seconds. There are some supports you can’t view at all though the units have that support level. Holst doesn’t have a crest. Shamir is on your side in Golden Deer. Stuff, especially gifts, is/are SUPER expensive even though you get money pretty easily. Anna doesn’t stay at your camp forever. Gatekeeper is playable. Some units will cost renown after your initial play through. Renown is very difficult to earn and you don’t get a whole lot of it, so I advise against spending it. Swapping out your units from battle to battle is VERY important. Maya refers to Raphael’s sister as that’s her name. Acheron is from House Phlegethon and you have to defeat him. Viscount Siward is a generic npc. GATEKEEPER HAS MORE SIBLINGS THAN JUST HIS TWIN BROTHER AND WAS IN THE CHURCH BAND AND RAN AWAY FROM HOME! YURI WANTS TO GO ON A DATE WITH SYLVAIN WHO MADE FELIX BLUSH! Yuri is stunning. Emile wants to protect Mercie. Judith does if you don’t recruit Byleth. Jeralt says Byleth is just like Sitri. Also Judith and Tiana were best friends.
