What's your thoughts on like... idk how gods work from what we've seen/have been told?

Good question!

I'm only going to be including the main gods in this answer, like Unn, PK and Radiance. The bosses in the Godmaster dlc are mostly just for game play stuff/ unrelated lore to this question.

gods are strange creatures. They're incredibly powerful, making their own species. Unn, for example! She created greenpath/Queens Garden from her own essence!

Each god seems to have their own essence as well. Unn's is green, Radiance has yellow, Grimm has red, and PK and WL's are probably white. Lifeblood is blue, obviously.

I think essence is what gives them their ability/drive to create. And not just create, but spread. WL for example! She had to create a restraint so that her seed wouldn't spread. Her roots are all over Hallownest, and she took over Queens Garden from Unn. Most likely cuz Pale beings are more powerful than gods in hk, and Unn seems more peaceful than most.

Radiance has a drive for spreading her influence as well! That's part of her essence, the infection. There's a lot more to the infection than that, but a part of it is her desire to be known, to spread her light. Her moths carried on weapons of her as well, like the dreamsheild and dreamnail. Those are tied directly to her essence, especially the dreamnail.

Unn is a bit more of an oddball. She's asleep most of the game. I think she's a lot older than the other gods, and probably weaker. That's why she sleeps, she's trying to build her strength and call the mosskin out of the infection. But in the past, I think she also would've kept growing plantlife if it hadn't been for the arrival of PK, who then made a peace treaty with her.

Grimm is another oddball. He travels, seeking out the grimmfire for his ritual. Like Radiance's essence, his is also all over the place. The Grimmkin are sent out to gather it from different kingdoms. He's obviously tied to his ritual, but im not sure why. I think his drive is that of survival instead of spreading his essence. He is apart of the nightmare heart, and when he 'dies' his essence is given to Grimmchild. Basically allowing him to keep living.

PK is the most obvious example of the essence drive im talking about tho. He MADE Hallownest! His desire for a kingdom and spreading his influence was so strong he tried to deny time itself so it'd last eternal! The White Palace is specifically hidden in his own essence, and can only be found with the Awoken Dreamnail. Something he knows the Radiance doesn't have while she's sealed in the Black Egg Temple.

Lifeblood is a bit strange. Mostly because we know less about that than the Abyss. But it's also spreading. You can find it in many many places around Hallownest. I think eating the Lifeblood seeds is apart of its spread. The seeds give health benefits, which make the bugs want to eat them. After eating the seeds they'd eventually shit them out, or die with the seeds inside them. This woukd make the seeds sprout in different areas, create the Lifeblood butterflies, and then the Lifeblood cocoon! It's more subtle than what the other gods do, but its still happening. The Abyss Creature is tied directly to Lifeblood, which is. In the Abyss. There's still a lot we dont know about the Abyss, but I think Lifeblood is apart of it in some way.

Tldr, gods have the drive to exert their influence, essence, on the world around them more literally. Whether through creating greenpath or hallownest, or just spreading throughout all of it. Weeee!

Me secretly reveling in the chance to explain my aus

You picked two of my oldest aus and two of my newest ones so that's fun!

Full disclosure, 3/4 of these AUs are Grevek-focused so don't like that ship don't read ig

Robot AU

This was actually my very first HK AU! Revek-related anyways. This one is sorta Grevek- the crush is there, and requited, but the relationship isn't as large.

The basic premise of this au revolves around Grimm, who is a mechanic and makes robots in his free time. Most of his bots are just small ones to help him out with household stuff. This is in a modern AU setting, so when Grimm isn't working on bots, he's repairing other bugs' things (I know I call him a mechanic, it's not solely vehicles lmao)

Anyways, Grimm starts dabbling in making more life-sized bots, and inadvertently makes one sentient. This robot turns out to be Revek. It doesn't take long for Revek to make his sentience known. Emotions (and everything) are new to Revek, and he relies on Grimm to shed some light on why he's feeling the things he is (like curiosity).

Grimm is confused, but then elated to discover one of his bots became sentience. He starts teaching Revek about things, unnoticing of Revek's increasingly strange behavior. Unbeknownst to both of them, Revek's started to develop feelings towards Grimm.

Also, Divine and Brumm are here. Divine less so, but Brumm's Grimm's best friend (haha get friendzoned idiot).

There's no concrete plot, but a few important things! Starting with some Revek notes:

He's literally named Revek. That's his serial designation name

Revek's got a few defects. Namely, his vision is fucky, so he's got a heightened sensor to detect what's around him

He's also got a special way that allows him to eat and taste flavor while also gaining fuel

Also, he's got a weapons system

Brumm is almost fuckin killed by Revek. Jealously takes hold and he attacks Brumm. Brumm survives, and the attack causes Revek to be shut down for a bit, but Brumm gains robotic enhancements as a result

This au isn't as developed as the next one

Pirate AU (Grevek-implied)

Doing this one because the other requires me introducing OCs you've not seen yet

Revek's a knight in this au. He's rather new to the whole knight thing, but he's doing his best! He lives alone with his little sister, Starsi, who's older in this AU because of what happens next.

Grimm (and his crew) are pirates, one of the most notoriously known ships on the seas. The Nightmare Heart follows the ship below as a giant sea monster. They pillage island villagers, do all that. When they finally arrive at Revek's island, Revek and other knights are sent out to battle them. Revek, due to his size and general inexperience, is mostly ignored by everyone, allies included. He notices the ship is unguarded and sneaks on to try and steal back some of what was stolen. In the process, he's caught by Grimm, the captain of the ship. Grimm takes Revek hostage for ransom, locking Revek up in the brig before setting sail.

Weeks later, Grimm receives word that the kingdom rulers refused to pay the ransom, leaving Revek in his hands. Revek also hears of this and grows upset, to the point of wanting to throw himself overboard. Grimm isn't too sure what to do, but begins to leave Revek's cell unlocked. The ship is attacked by an enemy ship, and a stray cannonball knocks Revek into the sea. The Heart saves him, and Revek has a moment. In a fit of absolute rage, he shoves a Grimmkin aside and shoots a cannonball at the enemy ship. His aim is incredibly good and strikes true.

Grimm, seeing this, offers Revek a position in his crew as a cannonneer. Revek accepts, wanting nothing more than to take revenge upon his old home. They do return to the island, where Revek grabs his sister as he slaughters guards who wronged him. He eventually becomes Grimm's partner

And now we move on to the newer AUs!

Spiders N Souls

This came from a silly concept where all I wanted was for Revek to be a witch. This eventually evolved into a small au where Revek has magic, and is considered a witch. Being such is forbidden in his home kingdom, so he travels the world trying to find his calling. He eventually finds Hallownest, and makes money by performing tricks on the streets of the City. Soul Master takes notice of his power and invites Revek to become a scholar studying magic. Revek accepts, excited, but isn't aware that SM is actually using Revek's actual magic for himself, wanting to become a powerful mage.

This is a newer au so I don't really know where this goes lmao

Finally, we have my newest AU entirely. I will be clear: this AU is a concept that I want to make a novel some day, so I will keep details to myself and will only explain the basics

Mooncall AU

Revek is a thief. Specifically, the world's greatest thief, dubbed "The Night's Magpie". He's never been caught, and no one has an inkling as to who hides beneath the mask. By day, he's a normal barista, working a job that provides for his family. By night, he steals from the most heavily guarded places with the most valuable riches. He's known in the underground market as one of the biggest sellers

One night, Revek plans one of his biggest heists ever. He breaks into the city museum and is in the process of stealing everything valuable within sight when he hears a voice in his head, begging him for help. It startles him, and he knocks over a precious vase that breaks. This sets off the alarm and causes Revek to flee. He's pretty huffy about it, and while regrouping in his safehouse, plans to redo the heist weeks later.

The night of the redo, as he's putting on his outfit, he notices glowing symbols on his upper body (hands, face, arms, neck, etc). This causes him to absolutely freak out, and in desperation, he runs to Grimm, an old friend. Grimm is panicked when he sees the symbols and pulls Revek inside to explain what's going on. He reveals that deities exist, and each select a mortal who would be a battery or vessel for their power should things go south. Revek was chosen to be the battery for the moon goddess, Neoma, and since she's in danger, he now holds basically all of her power. Revek panics at this information, unsure how to keep living his double life with this new info

I just rambled about this au to a friend and I'm in the process of drawing refs for it! It, like Everbloom, are Aus that I want to make actual novels one day

Since I’m writing a Hollow Knight fic (”The Hollow King” on Ao3 if you’re curious :D) the doodles are from the same game

That’s a LOT of charachters. It turned out as a bit of a clusterfuck but I’m very happy with it. As you can see, I fully support the “Markoth is Seer’s son” theory, it breaks muh heart.

Radiance is mad about getting cut out XD

P.S. I blame my brother for Grimm at the bottom, that was his idea. I didn’t know what to draw and I had space sideways and he helped my brain spawn this result.
