Ushijima glanced at Hinata, sensing an unusual tension in the air. "What' is it you want to talk about, Hinata Shoyo?"
Hinata's nervousness was palpable, evident in his flushed cheeks and hesitant words. "Um, Ushijima-san, I... uh..."
Encouraged by Ushijima's patient gaze, Hinata gathered his courage. "Ushijima-san, you're incredibly skilled and composed on the court. Sometimes, I can't help but feel envious of you. Since our match at Shiratorizawa, I've found myself thinking about you a lot, and... well..."
Ushijima's expression remained unreadable as he prompted, "Yes?"
Blushing furiously, Hinata finally admitted, "I... I like you!"
Caught off guard, Ushijima's confusion was evident. "You like me?"
Hinata nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. "Yeah, I mean... would you.. uh, go out with me?"
After a brief pause, Ushijima spoke, carefully choosing his words. "Hinata Shoyo, you're a formidable opponent, and I respect your skills on the court. However, I don't share the same romantic feelings towards you."
Disappointed but trying to mask his emotions with a forced laugh, Hinata replied, "Ah, it's okay, Ushijima-san! I just needed to get that off my chest. Forget I said anything!"
Unable to find the right words, Ushijima watched as Hinata excused himself and left.
As Hinata returned home, the weight of rejection settled on his shoulders. Alone in his room, he couldn't shake the thoughts of Ushijima. Tears welled up unexpectedly as he whispered to himself, "I'm so lame..." Rejection had hit him harder than he anticipated.

Maintaining a long-distance relationship can be incredibly challenging, especially when both individuals are working tirelessly to pursue their volleyball careers and become the best players they can be.
With one in Brazil and the other in Poland, the physical distance between Hinata and Ushijima makes their relationship even more difficult to sustain.
It's heart-wrenching to hear that Shoyo often cries over the phone, expressing how much he misses Ushijima, which in turn breaks Wakatoshi's heart as well. Both of them yearn for the day when they can hold each other close, sharing kisses and fully expressing their love. In the meantime, Ushijima does his best to provide comfort and support to Shoyo, reminding him to be patient and wait for the day when they can finally be together again. They have made a promise to each other that once their contract with the club end, they will reunite in Japan and begin their life together.
Their bond is unbreakable, and they have every intention of staying inseparable for the rest of their lives.

Hinata and Kageyama were having a conversation about their third-year senpais graduating.
Kageyama : What about Ushijima-san? Is he also going to university?
Hinata nods.
Hinata : Yeah, Toshi will be going to Tokyo after graduating...
Hinata expressed his concerns about his boyfriend, Ushijima Wakatoshi who also going to university this year. Feeling down, he shared his worries about the challenges they might face in a long-distance relationship. Tears fall from Hinata's face and he quickly wipes them away.
Hinata : Ahh, I'm so lame..
Kageyama comforted Hinata, assuring him that Ushijima surely felt the same way.
Hinata appreciated Kageyama’s support and jokingly mentioned that it was scary when he was nice.
Their conversation was interrupted by Noya, who teased Hinata about his boyfriend coming to pick him up.
Hinata rushed to meet Ushijima and, upon seeing his tall lover, was pulled into an embrace.
Ushijima : Are you okay, Shou?
Hinata is confused : Yeah, I'm fine.
Ushijima : Really? You're not hiding something from me, are you?
Hinata shakes his head : I am not.
Gently, Ushijima caresses Hinata's cheek.
Ushijima : Your eyes are puffy, have you been crying?
Hinata was touched by Ushijima’s attentiveness and reassured him that he was fine.
Hinata : I’m fine, Toshi.. really
Ushijima : Promise to tell me if anything happens, okay?
Hinata gives his boyfriend the brightest smile : Okay! Let’s get going?
Ushijima responds by lacing their fingers together, give his tiny lover a sweet small smile. And they walked off together, hand in hand.
Hinata Shoyo felt incredibly lucky to have Ushijima Wakatoshi as his boyfriend.
