Jeez Louise, this is nonsense, but okay:
Why I think the Reyincarnation Theory (Rey is somehow a reincarnation of Anakin) is plausible:
Okay so. The Rise of Skywalker has a lot of things to do as a film. It has to conclude the sequel trilogy and thematically link all nine movies as “the Skywalker Saga.” But there’s a problem.
For various reasons, Han, Luke, and Leia, the original trio, can’t be used to do this (they’ve been written out, Carrie Fisher’s untimely passing, etc.). Their legacies are important, but the sequels solidly focus on new characters. We don’t have an in-focus Skywalker in the sequel trilogy at all, do we?
(Yes, yes, Kylo Ren, sure. But he doesn’t actually count. He’s an antagonist, purposefully designed to be a bit pathetic --it’s no accident that Snoke eventually snaps at him that he’s playing at being evil, and he’s actually a more successful villain and much more Vader-like after he symbolically breaks his mask and stops trying so hard. Heck, maybe he embraces the spirit, at least, of the Sith code (through power my chains are broken; the Force will set me free...))
Anyway.
They’ve partially solved the problem of linking the movies by bringing back Palpatine. Nothing like a returning villain to do the job, and I’ll be very surprised if they don’t retcon it so that he was somehow influencing Snoke (see also: Palpatine’s tendency to keep his apprentices as pets more than full apprentices, Snoke's comment about Hux being a dog, Palpatine's ‘always a bigger prize’ mentality towards promising youngsters, etc).
But bringing back Palpatine creates a whole new narrative issue: It makes Anakin’s story (finally breaking free of his limited choices out of love and destroying his master, supposedly bringing balance to the Force) unfinished. I’ll get to that later.
Then there’s that bizarre subtitle. The Rise of Skywalker? What the heck does that mean? It’s an awkward title, especially since we’re used to using it as a family name. Luke Skywaker, a Skywalker, another Skywalker. But here it’s phrased in a singular way, like a title, or the full name of a person. What if someone in the sequel trilogy is not a Skywalker, but “Skywalker” full stop? The only person available for the job, really, is Rey.
Where does Rey come from, anyway? It would seem pretty out of character for Han, Luke, or Leia to have a secret kid that they just...dropped off somewhere. Luke grew up without knowing his parents. I don’t think he would like doing the same to another kid. Kylo Ren said that Rey’s parents were nobodies, and he was telling the truth from what he knew. Rey certainly sensed no lie. But when she looked for answers in the Dark Side nexus, she didn’t see whoever dropped her off on Jakku. She saw only herself. Could it be more accurate to say that Rey’s parents were no-one?
Back to the structure of the series. Looking at the Original Trilogy by itself, Anakin being saved in ROTJ is not the catharsis of Anakin’s story, but of Luke’s. Luke, who idolized Anakin and hated Vader, had that thoroughly kicked out from under him, and came back angry and certain that there was still hope, still another way, a way out, and being proven right (tell your sister you were right).
Anakin’s story in the first six movies does reach a conclusion: he saves his son out of a free choice of love after decades of being defined by hate and a life of limited choices, destroys the Emperor and so the Empire.
And yet.
We have to ask the question: did Anakin bring balance to the Force?
The sequel trilogy seems to say no. The First Order rises from the ashes of the Empire and gains power. Whatever Snoke’s deal is is going on. Luke has come to the conclusion that rebuilding the Jedi Order will only perpetuate the problems that led to its fall and Darth Vader being a thing. (He’s not wrong, but uh, TLJ possibly could have handled that better. Luke grew up on Tattooine, never knew the Republic or the Jedi Order as it was, and never showed any hesitation about following the spirit rather than the letter of the Rules. He’s maybe not the right character to deliver that message, and certainly not so cynically.)
And Palpatine, apparently, is back.
So Anakin’s story reached a conclusion, but it was temporary. The Chosen One prophecy is potentially unfulfilled. There was a redemption, but there was no rise, no triumph. But there could be!
If Rey is somehow Anakin, or meant to finish what Anakin started (see what I did there?), it would explain a lot!
There’s Anakin’s lightsaber, which “calls to Rey,” and triggers visions, which are an Anakin thing in the movies. Despite Kylo Ren’s claim on it, whenever he and Rey fight over the saber, it hesitates, but ultimately ends up with Rey.
There’s the lovely line in TFA about the same eyes in different people.
There’s Rey’s fighting style, that overhand pressing forward that Anakin loved so much.
There’s Kylo Ren’s obsession with Darth Vader, and come to think of it, isn’t it weird that there’s zero inkling of Anakin’s Force ghost telling Ben to sit down and reevaluate his choices? Except, perhaps, that nebulous call to the light and Rey’s determination to give him a chance to do that, even though he doesn’t end up taking it.
There’s Rey’s facility with droids and Binary, and teaching herself to fly.
There’s that new trailer --Rey and Kylo fighting like Ben and Anakin, but with water all around instead of fire. And then Rey in a dark cloak with a saberstaff, looking ready to kick someone’s butt.
I’m not any good at conclusions, but I think it’s really plausible that the “road trip” aspect of TROS is going to be chasing the slow revelation of who Rey used to be and how she can finally bring balance to the Force --by ending the Jedi and the Sith, and creating a third way that is an appropriate blending of the two.

just  a  few  notes  about  my  characterization  of  rey  !!
i  ignore  everything  after  the  reunion  between  the  trio  in  tr.os.  i  haven’t  yet  figured  out  what  she  does  after  or  what  she  does  with  the  lightsabers.  i’m  thinking  burying  them  on  naboo  ??  or  burying  them  close  to  where  she  starts  her  force  sensitive  school  ??  (  maybe  the  school  is  on  naboo  ??  uwu  )
rey  only  wears  her  hair  in  buns  post  t.lj  for  training.  aside  from  that  assume  her  hair  is  completely  down  or  half  up  /  half  down.
after  repairing  anakin’s  lightsaber,  rey  is  called  to  obi-wan’s  lightsaber  until  she  can’t  handle  it  anymore  and  goes  looking  for  it.  she  uses  it  until  she  makes  her  own.  that’s  where  she  also  finds  out  she’s  his  grandchild  (  !!  )  she  doesn’t  accept  it  right  away.  in  fact,  she  spends  a  lot  of  time  learning  how  to  accept  it.  she  eventually  tacks  the  kenobi  name  onto  hers  and  proudly.  but  she  still  sees  herself  as  rey  nobody.  she  was  rey  nobody  for  so  much  of  her  life.
yes,  my  rey  is  rey  kenobi  as  mentioned  multiple  times.  HOWEVER,  if  that’s  not  your  cup  of  tea  i  also  love  writing  rey  nobody  and  rey  skywalker  (  grandchild  of  anakin  or  child  of  anakin  in  my  verse  w/  @furymcde  uwu  ).  i’ll  be  very  picky  about  rey  palpatine  though  and  it’ll  only  happen  in  plotted  verses  /  threads.
rey’s  parents  were  nobodies.  also  rey  (  born  kira  ardel  )  was  born  on  coruscant,  but  her  parents  left  for  jakku  when  she  was  four  years  old.  they  were  around  for  awhile  until  suddenly  they  weren’t.  they  might  not  have  literally  sold  her  for  drinking  money  but  they  might  as  well  have.
i  don’t  have  any  headcanons  about  her  grandmother  -  maybe  satine  ?  maybe  someone  else  ?  i’ll  figure  that  out  later  sdkfjgndkg
rey  has  a  yellow  double-bladed  split  saberstaff  in  anything  post  tr.os.
rey  isn’t  the  chosen  one.  that’s  anakin.  i  know  some  people  think  she  is  based  on  fanon  theories  but  i  don’t  use  that  for  my  canon  !  your  character  can  think  she’s  the  chosen  one  ig.
so  much  of  tr.os  isn’t  canon  for  me  ?  but  especially  r//eylo.  so  the  kiss  doesn’t  happen.  yes,  they  are  a  dyad.  they  fight  together.  he  understands  her  when  she  feels  the  most  alone.  he  saves  her  from  death  but  it’s  not  romantic.
rey  is  NON-BINARY  and  uses  she  /  they  pronouns.  she’s  also  pansexual  &  panromantic.

ELIAS
He avoids the mess with the First Order and its resistance-the conflict feels far too familiar for his liking-but Palpatine announcing his return is the first thing to tempt him to involve himself for more years than he cares to count. Nearly just as soon as he begins to contemplate this choice, however, someone else makes it for him. For the second time in his life he feels the Dark Lord of the Sith fall, and this time he takes the First Order with him. Once again, Elias finds his concern turn to curiosity, as the figure who bested Palpatine piques his interest.
It takes time to catch up-this one is constantly on the move it seems-but he finally manages to catch up to the famed hero of the resistance on, of all places, Coruscant. As he nears the long abandoned temple where he can sense her presence within, he takes a breath and thinks back on times long since passed. There’s a pain and a joy to those memories, but he casts both aside to focus on what he’s come for.
When he finds her, rummaging through what’s left of the archives, he’s astonished to find she’s little more than a child. He nearly lets disbelief see him turn around, but he then senses her grief, and also her resolve, prompting him to at least see this through.
Tumblr media
“These halls have gone undisturbed for a very, very long time, youngling. Why have you chosen to see that streak broken now?”
REY
Tumblr media
she is supposed to be alone here.
the force signature that seems to barge into the holy space rey has been rooting around in for the past day cycle makes no secret of its entrance. this, more than anything, jarrs rey into dropping the metal cylinder currently in her hand. inwardly cursing the state of her nerves, she manages to stop its descent with the force, but not before it hits several other items on the way down. lips purse so hard they turn white, but slowly she pivots in the direction of the insistent signature at her back. no avoiding it now.
every muscle and tendon is ready to spring as she fully faces the doorway where stands the shadow. from many feet away his eyes are starkly visible, and their brightness clashes with the darkness of his clothing. these are eyes she’s seen before, in someone else. in a dream. it stirs a little fear in the pit of her stomach and it fights her already wound up thoughts for dominance.
but, another skim of the force sets some of her tension at ease. there’s curiosity hovering between her and the stranger more than anything else. so she flexes her fingers and stares straight on. youngling. he’ll soon see she left the youngling she once was far behind her.
        “what do you want?”
ELIAS
The tension his voice brings her as it echoes through the hallowed hall is unsurprising, and though he makes no move towards his own weapons he is more than ready to defend himself if need be-he certainly looks the part of her enemy even if has yet to decide to count himself among them. There's a relief, though, and even a pleasant surprise at her reaponse, making him glad to see some defiance and curiosity cut through the fear and uncertainty that he can feel from her. He grins, and though the expression is hidden by his mask there is a mirth in his voice as he replies.
"Not much of one for answering questions, eh? Good. That will serve you well these days. You'd have fit right in with this lot as well, truth be told; they weren't fond of answering anything either."
He inadvertently lets some of his disdain slip through in those last words, lingering disappointment with the old order momentarily souring his mood. Cautious steps are then taken towards her, a finger idly dragging across tables on the way and leaving a trail in the dust.
"Thankfully for you, I am more willing to be forthcoming, whenit suits me. Consider me a.... interested observer. I do hope you didn't think thwarting the Dark Lord of the Sith would garner you no attention, because if so allow me to be the first to inform you that you were very sorely mistaken."
REY
a snarl begins to form upon hearing his derision, an automatic response still left over from her early days admiring those of the jedi order, but it abates when she hears truth woven in the retort. he isn’t wrong. her own question was partially borne out of the vague and wispy talk she’d heard so much of from luke, kylo, and even leia at times. it’s enough to mentally kick herself for absorbing what she’d hated so much about the way they’d spoken to her. from old dreams, she remembers snatches of anakin’s rage and frustration at the very same empty things he was told. it mirrored her own disillusionment at the time and frightened her deeply. now she understands where he who was to become darth vader was coming from – and yet knows the hopeful end to his story, though it came just barely before death caught up to him. she can’t forget how darth vader ended. but there was so much to dislike about the way things had been done until only recently, and she feels the pricks of that old darkness again. the stranger has hit upon it well. apparently it’s been passed down.
“you knew some of them, then?” this could mean one of many things, but rey doesn’t want to waste time calculating odds when she could have her answers much sooner. since this intruder is so talkative, might as well take advantage. but first…
“i didn’t do it to be noticed,” rey snaps quietly. the edges of the room blur, she remembers ashes falling. stones cracking. “someone had to do something and i was there. why does it matter who i am?”
ELIAS
She asked if he knew the Jedi of old, and while he’s certain her question is borne of simple and genuine inquisitiveness-he does speak with a certain familiarity and authority after all-the asking still manages to strike an all too sensitive nerve. He clenches his fist and the ground beneath their feet begins to quake. There’s a rather hasty build and it feels as though the entire temple rumbles as the rage and anguish that still constantly simmer just below the surface of him even after all these years bubbles over as thoughts of simpler, more peaceful times come to mind only to be quickly shattered by the memory of the one who brought them all to an end. The one man who tore down everything he knew and loved. Yes, the Jedi order was flawed, and broken, and a mere shell of what it was meant to be, but so long as it stood there was always the chance, the hope of changing for the better. Darth Vader stole that chance, dashed that hope, and brought all to ruin and ash. Anakin, his “brother”; oh how he hated him. And, as if betraying their order was not plenty reason enough to loathe him with every fiber of his being, Elias still remembered every agonizing second of how he was picked apart, chopped, and shredded under Vader’s methodical, almost clinically dispassionate hands. Vader destroyed everything he was and reshaped him into a plaything, a puppet, a weapon; a sharp edge to cut down those they both once called family. Vader twisted and warped Elias into everything they both once fought against, and for that, even in death, even in returning to the light at the end, would never receive forgiveness.
There is a strained pause of several seconds before he finds his voice again.
“…Yes, I knew them well.”
These words, spoken tersely through teeth clenched so tight they might seem near to cracking, are all he utters. He offers no further clarification of his proximity to the figures of legend, but, if her senses are up to snuff, he is sure she feels everything that he leaves unsaid. It takes several seconds for him to finally calm himself enough to not lash out at her. She is, after all, a child, who knows not of what she speaks. It helps to distract him when she mentions not understanding what it matters who she is, and he even lets out a humorless laugh.
“It matters more than anything, because who you are decides what comes next. You are the future of this galaxy, whether you want to be or not. Everything you do now affects what happens, because, by your actions, you have made yourself into such figurehead. The worlds all look up to you now as the hero who saved them from the tyranny of the dark side; the fabled Jedi of old resurgent. Because of this, whatever you choose to do or whoever you choose to be will set the tide and tone for all that is to come. You may not want attention nor think it matters who you are, little one, but it matters more than anything has in a looong time. That is why I wanted to see you. That is why you have my attention, because I want to see where we go from her. I myself tend to avoid the constant conflict of our galaxy, but even I recognize the significance of this; even I recognize what is important. And you are what’s important now. I have to say, I already like what I see. You have a fire to you that has been sorely needed for some time, and I look forward to seeing how you shake things up.”
REY
Tumblr media
a wave of energy explodes across the room, emanating from the clenched fist of this masked man. taking care not to resist it, the wave flows through her. the impression she’s left with in the aftermath is strange: this outburst of anger is not so much directed at her but results more from unpleasant memories. all the same, rey can’t help but reach for her saberstaff. looking around, she sees tapestries on the walls tremble to the point that several slide down to the floor. relics she’d piled behind her topple and some break or clatter on the floor. she’d be far more irritated at the resulting destruction if she weren’t so simultaneously curious and a little frightened by this display.
whoever this man is, he has great power - or he has seen great power and not come away unscathed.
when the air in the room becomes still once more, the man speaks again, sounding wrecked. it’s almost as if the ghostly memory of a black masked, cloaked figure stands between them. taunting. this stranger knew anakin skywalker. this man knew darth vader.
unfortunately rey cannot dwell on this fascinating (or alarming) tidbit for very long before he moves on, and fast. the air around her shakes with conviction this time around, and the words that follow are such a blur of warnings and grudges and compliments that rey finds herself quite upended, unclear where to begin in response. faintly, the echoes of something she said to luke on ach-to float back to her. “kylo failed you. i won’t.” what promises rey makes she keeps to the best of her ability, but what she’s hearing opens her mind to the wideness of what she’s done. training, or trying, to become proficient enough to snuff out a lingering darkness in the galaxy was one thing. being tasked with ushering in a new age is another altogether. nobody told her to be ready for this.
“i…..don’t know if i’m the person you think i am.” mouth hung halfway open, rey studies the dust motes drifting around her and thinks. “the jedi order is gone. i couldn’t resurrect it alone if i tried, and…..i don’t know that i should.”
ELIAS
There’s a strange comfort that comes from the way she is no repulsed nor even tries to shun or dismiss to fear his little outburst makes her feel. It’s a step in the right direction, and one he wishes the council had taken while it had the chance. He feels her fear shift back to curiosity and uncertainty, and as she continues to speak he can’t help but to smile once again.
Tumblr media
“Well, you’re already a lot smarter than the last kid in your shoes. You actually bothered to stop and ask yourself questions like that, and it makes you exactly the kind of person I was hoping you’d be. It means that, even if you don’t always make the right choices, you’re thinking before you make them.”
He takes a moment to finally do away with some of the mystery, deciding to get somewhat comfortable with her. He peels back his hood and removes his mask, allowing his face to be in full view.
Tumblr media
“I am Elias Kanu. No one of any import, really. Just a relic of a man who has seen much in his time. As for you, your importance is an unfortunate side effect of your actions. I know that your sudden significance is a lot for you to process, and its ramifications will not be apparent all at once, but I am certain no one else you know has the perspective to even make you aware of it, and I’d rather you not go in as blindly as your predecessor.”
REY
Tumblr media
before she can help it, her nose crinkles at his use of the word “kid”, nearly leaving behind his compliments altogether. logically she knows that, once upon a time, luke skywalker could have been called that. it’s just that the almost stony and sad old man she met seemed to never have been young a day in his life. of all things though, this is probably not what she needs to get stuck on.
thankfully, elias removing his mask provides a necessary reset. what is it with men dressed like darkness itself introducing themselves to her by removing their masks? at least this man hadn’t let his reputation precede him.
“elias.” rey nods sharply in greeting, loosening her white knuckled grip on the saberstaff. if need be she can still strike at any point. “thank you. for your advice and your warning. but what makes you so sure? people have been more than happy to tell me many things - about myself and the jedi - but not all of them have been true. or what i needed.”
ELIAS
He senses her incredulousness and indignance, and despite himself finds his lips curving slightly into a small smile. It reminded him of his own youth, to a point.
Tumblr media
“You might say I have a…unique perspective on these matters. I’m not here to tell you anything about yourself, and anything I say about the Jedi will be more cautionary than the the lauding you’re likely used to, but I thought you ought to know what you represent now. I have my hopes and suppositions, of course, but neither I nor anyone else can dictate what you want or what you need or who you are or who you’re going to be. I just came to tell you that, whether you like it or not, everyone will now be watching to find out.”
REY
Tumblr media
“good.” another nod, stiff but more pronounced, accompanies the word. there’s so much mystery wrapped up in what he says and very little of what he’s hinting at sounds strictly positive, but rey can feel the slow approach of truth. this is what she’d wanted - from everyone. not platitudes about her abilities, though she has far more faith in them now than she ever has before, and for good reason. definitely not what her path forward must look like or else she will be as good as dead to the jedi order. this man knows things, and rey knows immediately that these are treasures she wants to rifle through and keep for herself. nearly gone are her thoughts on the trinkets piled behind her. there’s so much more to be discovered elsewhere. she can feel an old familiar itch in her fingers that promises something of value up ahead.
“you said it yourself: i’ve been told many good things about the jedi. bad things, too. i know they became something other than what they were meant to be. i know luke skywalker had regrets, and so did the people who trained him. but i was never told the whole story. so what do you know?”
ELIAS
Tumblr media
“More than most.” The response shoots out nearly before he can think on it, a certain sudden curtness to his tone that jars even him; if only because he marvels at how raw such old wounds still manage to be. He takes a moment to try and set that all aside, body relaxing as he lets out a slow exhale. He can already tell this is the first of a million questions the girl will have now that he’s established himself as an authority, and he can’t treat each one like a slap in the face.
“There is much about the twilight of the Jedi you won’t find in a history book. Most accounts either paint them as near mythical warriors of justice who swept through the galaxy and combated evil at every turn, while others say they are power hungry zealots who betrayed their closest allies and thus were vanquished for the sake of peace.
Peace, bah.” He has to scoff, shaking his head and thinking back.
“The Jedi saw themselves as peacekeepers. Conflict generally was frowned upon, though being able to defend yourself was a paramount skill to be learned. Towards the end, things had gotten pretty cushy for them. They’d aligned themselves with the Galactic Republic, the seats of power for both factions being on the same planet not too far from each other.”
He stops to look around the place, an amused smirk on his face as something occurs to him.
“ It’s funny to think about this temple, a supposed holy place for meditation and education to be located in a city that spans the entire rest of the planet, one that includes the center of galactic politics and the worst and most crime-ridden slums in the galaxy. Such a strange contradiction, this place’s very existence. Anyway, the order in its last days was a far cry from any legendary status they’ve gained nowadays. They were….people, really. People who adhered to a strict code. One made in, I’d like to think, an ideal time for an ideal situation. It put them in a bubble; one they never imagined would pop until it did. Then, the Clone Wars happened. It wasn’t even their war, not really, but as peacekeepers and allies to the Republic, they felt they had a duty to intervene. Keeping the peace meant waging war. That is how holy men became generals. How masters became murderers. It became a murky time, and the Jedi way wasn’t built for murkiness. It made them unable to fathom the war was anything but what it presented itself as, and by the time they saw anything more to it, it was too late to stop what was in motion. They ‘ended’ the war, but the Republic, now the Empire, took all the credit. A Sith Lord sat at the highest seat of power and systematically dismantled his greatest allies and his greatest competition: the Jedi. The council didn’t see it coming at all, so caught up in their own self-importance and chasing their own tails to see the threat right beside them. A lot of good people….people who had just been doing the best they could, were lost in the Purge….and only the lucky ones of those were killed. In the aftermath, both the Empire and those who remembered the Jedi were able to spin their own stories…their legends. Who would tell either side where they were wrong?
And so, here we are; nearly a century later with a mix match of stories told by scores of people who weren’t there and don’t know but are all absolutely convinced of the ‘truth’ of their accounts. Does that satisfy you as the ‘whole story’, youngling?”
REY
Tumblr media
all focus is drawn to the sounds of history being spilled at her feet like poison spit from a snarling mouth. the only wise thing to do is listen, to soak up each detail like she is a sponge that will never fill. this knowledge cost something. many things, if she senses correctly. perhaps even shards of a soul. but it keeps spilling….and spilling and spilling. quite unknowingly, she’s broken open a geyser that has been stopped up for too long – and it’s raging.
while elias speaks, she can recalls that the brief time she spent on ach-to with luke opened her eyes wide to the fragility of what used to be the jedi order. while it might have once been a paragon of peace and justice - or actually accomplished anything noteworthy - enough pressure seemed to crumble it. even while luke valiantly tried to resurrect the soul of what the jedi used to be on crait with his last gasp, he couldn’t erase the truth that elias seems to be indicating as well: the jedi had lied to themselves for longer than they wanted to admit.  or worse, they’d convinced themselves over time that their code and their teachings were the only way, were the only truth. by the time the galaxy needed them most, they’d self-brainwashed themselves into blindness. blindness that left more than just peace in its wake, but lives as well.
through it all, rey feels the rate of her heartbeat ratcheting up and up while the tale spins darker and darker. she can feel the bitterness and judgment in the air coat the stones at her feet and climb up the walls, tingeing the air around the two force wielders a sickly gray. it’s as through elias’s very emotions are living beings, invisible to the naked eye but crowding the lonely room in a defunct temple so tightly it’s hard to breathe. rey waits long moments after elias finishes so she can wrestle back control over her heart and lungs. there are so many thoughts (chiefly that she will NOT be representing such a failed code) and questions to ask about what not to repeat and what to do differently, but before that…
“you were there, then. if the people that can only recount legends were never there, and you have the whole story, then you were in the middle of it. you knew them, and you saw what happened.” the fact that his force signature betrayed personal knowledge of anakin skywalker and darth vader is still vital, but that particular jedi turned sith was not the only player in the downfall of order in the galaxy. “and if that is the whole true story,” it is; she can feel it in the threads of the force that twist and warp around her, “then i will not represent something that failed so miserably!”
ELIAS
Tumblr media
In the pause between his speech ending and her declarations beginning, Elias manages to center himself Picking at these old scabs is taxing-though necessary- so he takes whatever reprieve is afforded to him. It’s fortunate, then, that her final summation pulls forth hearty laugh out of him loud and genuine it nearly catches him off guard. “HAHA, that’s the spirit girl! Oh…you are, such a refreshing change of pace. I’m so used to these people and their…blind devotion, or baseless revulsion. You manage to recognize that the Jedi meant to do something right and were just shit at it. But you’re right: I was there. More than that, I was a one of them. I watched from the inside as the Order was destroyed, watched people I loved die in droves, and I watched and felt what the Empire built over their corpses. So I know, from experience, what a Jedi is meant to be, what the Order turned into, and -most importantly- what it could be. I see the latter in you, youngling. I see a chance to take the example of the best intentions of the Jedi, but the flexibility and wisdom to look beyond their rigid and unyielding code. When this conversation began I told you that you will be the example for what comes next, and I am now convinced you’re primed to set a good one. And to that end, I will do something I haven’t done in….a very long time: I offer my aid. You have many questions, I’m sure, and I will answer them all to the best of my ability.”
REY
nothing so far has caused her more unease than this man’s laughter. it grates the air, making her grit her teeth in reaction. though his response isn’t strictly…..unpleasant, it’s the surprise of it that has her on edge. is he making fun of her? is he pleased? she has to hone her focus to him and anything he says to glean anything at all.
one of them. it was easy to put the pieces together before, but this admission makes everything quite real, stand in stark definition. how she takes comfort is realizing what it cost him to be part of the empire and the damage that was wrought upon his mindset. elias hasn’t recovered, may never recover, from what he has seen. this knowledge as good as any promise he could make to her that he doesn’t wish to cause her harm or derail her purpose.
“you would?” this is an olive branch and compliment, she’s sure, but rey has never been good at properly responding to either of those. nevertheless, her spirits lift before she can stop them. maybe there’s no need to. “i do have many questions, and i need a teacher. though i’ve been offered help before and it’s done more harm than good. forgive me if i still have my doubts.” but she’s testing him. all of her wants to find out if he is as trustworthy as he postures himself to be. “if we are to do this….” slowly, she allows a half smile to surface. “you cannot call me youngling. no matter how old you are.”

Her excitement proves contagious, and he finds himself bizarrely eager to begin her instruction. He’s never had a student before-and in many ways still thinks of himself as one-but the prospect of sharing the trove of knowledge stored in his mind is suddenly quite alluring. He’s never even considered it before, and it amuses him to have so serendipitously stumbled upon such a fitting recipient.
He nods thoughtfully as she expresses her lingering doubts, understanding them completely. They have, after all, only just met and to expect implicit trust would be foolish. Her desire for her youth not to be so regularly pointed out, however, draws an exaggerated sigh and a rolls of his eyes.

“Very well. I suppose that takes ‘kid’ off the table as well then, eh? So what shall it be, then? Your reputation may precede you, but it unfortunately seems to have failed to include your name. As for your doubts, however, hold onto them. The last thing I would ever want is to silence that voice in your head that defies convention and seeks certainty. I aim to earn your trust, and, truth be told, I’d be horribly disappointed if you gave it away so carelessly.”

Star Wars Episode IX Wishlist
What I hope to see in Episode IX
Episode IX will be called A New Order, The Spark Of Hope, or The Last Hope
Leia’s signal brought her allies to The Resistance. Lando will be a Resistance general. Wedge Antilles will bring Red Squadron back to The Resistance. Zay Versio and Shriv from Battlefront II will return as it was Zay who helped Leia’s allies bring help for The Resistance. Kazuda Xiono and his crew will appear. Hera, Sabine, Ahsoka and Ezra will return. Hera will be there as a pilot and a general, but Hera has a reason other than answering Leia’s call to be there. Hera’s son is a Knight Of Ren and wants to bring him back home. Sabine will bring The Mandalorians to the Resistance aid and Ahsoka and Ezra will guide Rey.
Rey trains Finn and Poe as Jedi. Rose Tico and Caro(Naomi Ackie’s character) will be revealed as force sensitive and Rey will train them. Until JJ says otherwise, Finn is force sensitive. There is a lot of build up in TFA. “there was an awakening” immediately after Finn’s Stormtrooper comrade dies and leaves his bloody hand print on Finn, Kylo looks at him as if he felt something. Kylo does not care for the Stormtroopers and view them as disposable and would rather Snoke have clone troopers and does not view indoctrinating children to soldiers as effective. The “there has been an awakening” was not foreshadowing Rey. That happens 15 minutes later. “Kylo Ren heads back toward his ship. But then he STOPS. Feels something. TURNS AND LOOKS AT OUR STORMTROOPER for a LONG MOMENT. Our trooper can barely meet his gaze; knows he’s doomed.” The SCRIPT itself tells us that Kylo stops and turns to look directly at Finn because Kylo FEELS SOMETHING! Rey awakens on Starkiller during the interrogation. Finn awakens on Jakku. When Snoke says there’s been an awakening and asks Kylo if he’s felt it, Kylo’s “yes” is quite literally him referencing the moment in the movie & script above when he literally feels the force in Finn and turns to acknowledge him. Now since John confirmed Finn will do more than in TLJ and he will do a big fight in IX, I am confident that Finn will become a Jedi. As for Poe? Poe Dameron’s mother, Shara Bey was a member of the rebellion and a great pilot. After the Battle of Endor when Luke Skywalker recovered the Force Trees from the empire Luke gave one of the trees to Shara, which she planted in the backyard of her home on Yavin IV. Why would they introduce Poe’s parents and have Luke himself give Shara a force tree? So I believe in episode IX, Rey will train both Finn and Poe to become Jedi.  As for Rose and Caro. Rose deserves a better storyline, Loan Tran deserves better. And Naomie Ackie deserves a good role as I am sick and tired of every WOC in Star Wars to be fridged.
Rey will have a new lightsaber. It will be  a double bladed lightsaber on her staff. So a saberstaff. And I hope Rey will have a Yellow or Purple Crystal for her lightsaber.
Finn’s defection from The First Order and Finn revealing that Phasma let the Starkiller Base shields down inspires all his old Stormtrooper friends to leave The First Order and join The Resistance.
Naomie Ackie’s character will be the daughter of Lando. Caro Calrissian.
Rose is said to have a bigger part and I really want that. I know a lot of the fandom does not like Rose, blame bad writing, not the character and KMT. What I can see Rose doing is she recovers and she becomes a big help to the Resistance. You could have Rose help building or fixing ships for The Resistance or come up with unique ways for fighting The First Order. Rose would have great respect for Rey and understand why Finn loves her. Rose would have a big influence on Finn’s actions near the end(keep reading) and of course Rose will become a Jedi along with Finn, Poe and Caro.
The Resistance will have to go to The Criminal Underworld for help. Since Jabba was killed. Someone must have took over the criminal underworld right? Well I have the best possible way to feature the criminal underworld. Qi’Ra. You could explain in novels or in graphic novels that Qi’Ra eventually betrays Darth Maul  and left him to die on Malachor and she took her place as leader of The Crimson Dawn. After Jabba was killed, Qi'Ra eventually killed her way to the top of the criminal underworld. Qi'Ra will be back as The Resistance may need her help. Qi’Ra would help because she would want to stop The First Order and she would do it for Han since it was his own son who killed him. Despite her betrayal she still cared for Han in the end.
The force ghosts of Luke, Yoda and Obi-Wan will guide Rey, Poe and Finn.
Rey’s vision will come true. Rey will fight Kylo Ren and The Knights Of Ren, but it will happen on Mustafar.
Luke will reveal to Rey that he is her father and Mara Jade was her mother. Luke thought Rey was dead at the academy. When Ben killed Mara and thought he lost her, he shut himself out. When she found him on Ach-To, he wanted to push her away from their family so he would not lose her again. He wanted her to have a different life. But now he is so proud of her and that he is sorry for pushing her away. Rey embraces her father. He will also tell her that her name is not Rey. Her name was “Kira Skywalker” And now Rey is conflicted. She doesn’t know if she can go through with killing Kylo Ren now knowing that he is her cousin. Just like Luke did with Vader. Everything about Rey’s journey pointed to her being Luke’s daughter. Rey must be a Skywalker for anything to make sense.
Rey will have an Aang moment. She will seek the guidance from Luke, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Yoda.
Thankfully they are not CGing or recasting Leia, they are using unused scenes for Leia. So my hope is SOMEHOW we are able to get a scene of Leia using Battle Meditation in the war against The First order. Trying to reach out to her son, but it will fail as Kylo Ren is too far gone. He has completely submerged himself in darkness  and has pledged himself to destroying everything his family has built. He has promised to Leia that when The Resistance is in ruins, when my uncle(Lando) is dead, when “my replacement”(referring to Poe) is dead, the traitor is dead, when my cousin(Caro) and when the last jedi lies dead, then I will finally kill you, mother. Then Leia knows that her son is truly gone.
Kylo Ren, Hux and Phasma will work together. Where Rey, Finn and Poe will be a heroic trio. Kylo, Hux and Phasma will be a trio of villains. Kylo Ren does what Snoke refused to. Make Hux Grand Marshall of The First Order. Phasma would be promoted to Admiral as he would feel that Phasma is destined for more than the rank of Captain. They all share the same goals. The destruction of the Resistance, the death of The Jedi and the complete and utter domination Of The First Order.
Phasma’s goal is to kill Finn. Phasma is basically Captain Ahab and Finn is her great white whale to chase. She is hunting Finn to the ends of the earth. Each battle they face she is there ready for him, every time he isn’t there, she kills every Resistance soldier there. Her instability and her focus on Finn is worrying Hux, but Kylo sees it as the best possible way to end The Resistance. Every time a Stormtrooper shys away from doing their duty, Phasma personally executes them. This is what makes Stormtroopers, especially Finn’s old friends to leave for The Resistance.
Hux has abandoned any resentment towards Ren as he has been given everything he’s wanted. The title of Grand Marshall and the means to destroy the Resistance. The Knights Of Ren. The Supreme Leader, Phasma and superior firepower and more and more each day more systems bow before The First Order. Even he must admit he no longer needs Starkiller Base. The entire armada of The First Order will meet The Resistance’s last stand. It will be against Hux’s might and General Organa’s Battle Meditation.
Kylo Ren will have a flagship of his own. The Hegemony. It will be  influence from the beautiful fan concept artwork of Romain d'Escrienne. It is massive. Eclipses the Supremacy. It's not only a Star Destroyer with a mini Death Star, but it’s also large enough to launch Star Destroyers from it’s sidebays. The Hegemony will be the ultimate tool to spread the might of The First Order and the final destruction of The Resistance.
Tumblr media
The Knights Of Ren will play a big role in the movie. My big hope is we actually learn about The Knights Of Ren. Unlike The Praetorian Guards who were faceless Guards who all just die, we know that the Knights are important and actually characters. We learn they were Jedi who left with Kylo Ren and helped him destroy the new Jedi Order. And they are Kylo’s new family.  The Knights serve The First Order, but they are completely loyal to Kylo. We only know of one of the Knights Of Ren. Jacen Syndulla is one of the Knights Of Ren. Together with Kylo Ren, The Knights Of Ren will destroy The Resistance and finally destroy The Jedi.
Kylo Ren will go to Vader’s castle on Mustafar to complete his training. He is hoping to harness the true power of the dark side and take in what’s left of Darth Vader in that castle. That is when he finally sees his grandfather.
The force ghost of Anakin will finally reach out to Kylo Ren. Snoke was preventing Anakin from seeing his grandson to bring him back and stop his grandson from repeating his mistakes. Ben Solo felt betrayed and lost it when he found out his grandfather was Darth Vader. He never found out that Anakin returned to the light and saved his son. Snoke lied about the truth and gaslighted Kylo into believing only Vader mattered and made him believe that compassion made him weak. Ben never learned the truth about Anakin. As for Anakin. Anakin was always the light that was calling to Ben, but because of Snoke, Anakin watched in vain as his grandson was becoming his mistakes. Anakin could hear everything that’s going on, he was a watching Kylo always but he can never be sensed or seen. Anakin hears Kylo ask “Show me again grandfather” and Anakin is so desperate to do something to turn him away from this dark path but he can’t do anything but watch in sadness and horror. So when he is finally able to manifest to his grandson. Anakin will tell him  “I never wanted you to repeat my mistakes. That pull to the light you were feeling was always me. I wanted you to be better than I was, who I could have been” and showing Ben his memories and what he had to go through. His life as a slave, meeting Padme, meeting Obi-Wan, becoming a Jedi, losing his mother, Order 66, losing Padme and being saved by Luke. And telling Ben “Let the light in. You still have a chance, no one is ever really gone“ And Kylo Ren would refuse to believe this. Kylo will retort that “the light made our family weak, your compassion made you weak, I will finish what you started and were too weak to finish.”  and Anakin watches in horror as his grandson continues his mistakes...and realizes he has become worse than he ever was as Darth Vader. His words fell on deaf ears and he could not save his grandson.
Finn will face Phasma for the last time(if she appears in the next trilogy I am chewing a live grenade) All of Finn’s old friends will beat back her forces. Finn will make a speech about we are not afraid of you or The First Order anymore and Finn has Phasma at his mercy. All the Stormtroopers who left the First Order because of Finn are telling him he has to kill her while Rose is telling him killing her will not be right. Finn makes the decision to spare. Phasma. Finn tells his old friends that’s how we’re going to win this war not by fighting what we hate, but saving what we love. Inspired by Rose, Finn let’s  go of his past and takes Phasma in alive so she can answer for her crimes.
Poe Dameron is given the respect he deserves. Poe in TFA is a  humble, yet confident man that saw that a person wasn’t defined by the uniform they wear, but of the moral conviction and actions of a person. He is the most levelheaded, compassionate and trusted soldier in the entire Resistance. What we got in TLJ was not the same character. The Poe Dameron in TFA, the comics, Resistance and the Before The Awakening Novel would never be okay with sacrificing ANYONE, let alone the entire fleet just to destroy ONE ship that can be easily replaced. He was so compassionate and good that he sided with someone on enemy lines and became his friend and knew that Finn was a good man, even though Poe shot his squad mate before during the fight on Jakku. Everything about Poe’s portrayal in TLJ is so unnecessary.  Poe Dameron went from a caring and experienced rebel pilot to an arrogant, hotheaded latino stereotype in the span of like…a day. That’s not subversive writing, that’s racist and bad writing.  It was a complete disservice to the character, an absolute insult to Oscar Isaac. So what must be done is showing Poe and Lando leading the Resistance and Poe leading the final assault on The First Order.
There will be a final battle, a battle that will make the conflict between The Resistance and First Order feel real. Rey vs Kylo Ren and The Knights Of Ren, Finn vs Captain Phasma and Poe leading the final assault on The First Order.
Before Rey leaves for Mustafar, her friends will join her. They cannot let Rey face Kylo and the Knights alone. So this new Jedi order is formed. Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Caro and Jacen. Together they face Kylo Ren and The Knights Of Ren.
In a final force bond session, Ren will taunt Rey. telling her she is nothing and to join him and together they can rule the galaxy. Rey will then tell him “I was never nothing. I am Kira Skywalker, I am a Jedi like my father and grandfather before me” and Ren is like “oh shit” but prepares for her on Mustafar.
The duel between the new Jedi and the Knights Of Ren will be intense and emotional, it will even rival Anakin and Obi-Wan. It will end with the Knights being defeated but only Rey and Kylo will be left fighting.
Rey and Kylo are evenly matched. But it will end. Rey is giving him one final chance. “Ben, Surrender. Your fleet is in ruins, Hux and Phasma have been captured and defeated, you have lost Supreme Leader” Kylo Ren will scream at her “BEN IS DEAD, I KILLED HIM. I WILL KILL YOU ALL, AND FINALLY GENERAL ORGANA, THIS ISN’T OVER” Ben Solo is truly dead. his eyes are piercing yellow and his lightsaber is pure crimson. Only Supreme Leader Kylo Ren remains.
Kylo Ren's fate. The battle between The Resistance and The First Order is over. The fight between Kira Skywalker and Kylo Ren is finished. Rey will chop his arm off and destroy Ren’s lightsaber. Ren is screaming and begging her to kill him. But once again, Rey refuses to do what Ren tells her to do. Rey will pull a Aang and sever Kylo Ren’s connection to the force. The war is over.
The final episode will end with the war ending, The Resistance and The First Order has signed a peace treaty and together as the Galactic Federation has brought peace to the galaxy.  Kylo Ren, Hux and Phasma will spend the rest of their lives imprisoned for war crimes against The Galaxy and The Republic. Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose and Caro have formed a New Order and brought balance to The Force. Luke, Anakin, Yoda and Obi-Wan look proudly upon Rey and this New Order.

Reylo Week 2018 day 1: Colours
Shades
Jakku is yellow.
Rey’s earliest memory is yellow sand stretching on and on as far as the eye can see. Yellow so glaringly bright that looking at it would blind you. The relentless sun beating down so hard sometimes that the sky itself seemed bleached out, worn thin and ruined just like everything else on Jakku.
She remembers bottles and glasses of strong smelling amber coloured liquid. Shards and slivers of glass littering the floor.
She remembers a woman’s wrists, mottled a sickly yellow with old bruises, her hands shaking as she drains another bottle and then smashes it over a man’s head.
Madness is a legitimate problem in the desert. The heat drives people to insanity, thirst making people gorge themselves on unclean, stagnant water that has been sitting too long. Rey knows as well as they do that it will make them sick. They can’t stop themselves. They’ll go jaundiced and swollen bellied, parasites eating at their insides, begging for water at the end. To quench their thirst, to ease their fever.
Rey is very, very careful with rationing her water. Very, very careful with cleaning the debris and pus from every little scrape and scratch she receives. Jakku kills. It kills easily and often. And no-one misses you when you go.
Nothing is new on Jakku. Everything is inherited or stolen or scavenged. Children inherit property, inherit prejudices, inherit anger and hate and bitterness. Nothing is good on Jakku, no-one ever leaves Jakku to do great things, no-one becomes truly successful on Jakku. Even the junk merchants are only a few steps further away from poverty than their workers, and they know it.
They’re living in the graveyard of a battle that was supposed to be the end of an empire. It wasn’t.
They pick over corpses of felled destroyers and at-ats. And if Rey comes across the old bleached bones of someone who died in a long ago battle, or some poor scavenger who came before her and took a fall, she takes the time to kick sand over them and think a few words of respect. She can’t do much else.
This place will grind her down eventually. No matter how she rages against it, Rey knows she’s fighting a losing battle. She sees it in the worn husks of women cleaning machinery at the cleaning stations, the thousands of tally marks scratched into the walls of her home. She’s long since lost count. That’s not why she does it any more. She lies in her cot at night, listening to the wind moving the sand and swears she can feel something being scoured away from her. The pain of loss made worse by her total inability to articulate what it actually is that she’s losing.
She has to leave before this place breaks her.
She sits outside the walker and places the rebel pilot helmet on her head, the tinted glass of the visor turning the sands around her a deeper yellow.
She waits.
**** The resistance is blue.
The console lights cast the faces of everyone in the war room with a bluish glow. They look spectral, bright eyed and haunted as they fight desperately with what little they have.
Rey likes exploring the planets they make port on (never for very long), and especially loves the ones with lots of water and life and greenery. Once she goes off to train in a nearby forest, leaving with stern instructions from Leia to keep an active comm link open. She spends a little time moving through her forms, then lies back and watches clouds scudding across the sky. The sky is such a soft blue here. The shifting light and dark as clouds move across the sun and the leaves move in the breeze lulls her into a trance, and before she knows it Poe is on the comm telling her to get back to base.
When Finn asks her what she was doing she replies “Meditating, mostly.” It’s not exactly a lie.
The first time she fires up her new saberstaff the blue beams crackle in such a familiar way that her hands start to shake. She powers it down quickly. The beams are as stable as they can be, Rey had made sure of that. It’s a beautifully made weapon, meticulously researched and designed. Finn and Rose had gone on a special infiltration mission to get her schematics from some old archive on one of the core worlds. The mission was incredibly dangerous, and Rey yelled at them for at least ten minutes before hugging them in gratitude.
Leia looks at her steadily from the doorway of the room they’re using as a makeshift armoury.
“General, I…I didn’t hear you come in.” For a woman leaning heavily on a cane she still moves as quiet as a lothcat, Rey thinks ruefully.
The general gives a crooked smile and makes her way over to the workbench Rey is standing by. She’s moving slower these days, but with no less poise and elegance.
“That’s a magnificent weapon Rey, you should be proud.” There’s a heavy pause. “The beam is very…” Leia trails off meaningfully and Rey swallows, mouth suddenly dry.
“When the saber broke, the kyber crystal split as well. It wasn’t a clean break they…cracked.”
“Luke’s old saber.” Leia murmurs.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t-“
The general waves her hand dismissively. “Don’t apologise Rey. Besides, wouldn’t you need two crystals to make a staff anyway? It’s near impossible to get kyber anywhere in the galaxy these days. The Force knew what it was doing.”
Rey thinks of the throne room, fire raining down around her as she put every ounce of strength into pulling the saber towards her. Of a force at the other end pulling just as hard back.
“I think so too. But I still…I just…I wish it didn’t have to be like this.” To Rey’s mortification she feels her voice break, tears pricking her eyes.
Leia places her hands over Rey’s. They’re cold, and Rey can see blue veins underneath thin papery skin. Blue bloods, she thinks dumbly. They call royals blue bloods.
“Me too, dear.” Leia has tears in her eyes as well. “Me too.”
**** Ben is red.
Rey had read of the process of bleeding a crystal. How you had to force your hate and pain and anger into the crystal until it was corrupted and took on a red hue.
Ben, of course, had gone too far with it and poured so much of his pain into the crystal that it fractured, creating an unstable beam. It was only when Rey began researching how to make her own saber that she realised just how dangerous Ben’s weapon really was. The rather ostentatious quillons were there to vent excess power. Without them they whole weapon would explode as soon as it was activated.
And wasn’t that just Ben all over. Too much power, too much anger, too much emotion, too much of everything. She wonders sometimes how he doesn’t just fly apart completely with the burning maelstrom going on inside him.
Rey should be frightened. She should run away, send co-ordinates to the resistance of the uninhabited backwater planet they tentatively agreed to meet up on through the bond. They came to talk but within a short span of time they had ignited their sabers and were striking and parrying, Ben giving pointers on how to better kill him. She’s not sure if they’re actually fighting or if they’re sparring, all she knows is this is possibly the calmest she’s ever felt Ben. His rage has subsided and he’s focused on correcting her footwork even as she slashes at him.
The heat within him is still there, but it’s different. Softer, somehow. Rey falters and as she missteps Ben’s eyes snap to hers and she knows. Feels the same heat low in her belly.
Rey catches hold of the front of his shirt the same time he grabs her round the waist. Their lips press together awkwardly, desperately. Neither of them has much of an idea what they’re doing but Rey can’t bring herself to care. Not about the Resistance or the First Order or the Jedi or any of it. Not when every part of her soul is reaching out for Ben, not when she can feel him reaching back.
Deactivated sabers fall to the ground and so do they, tearing at each other’s clothes in their desperation to feel skin against skin. Rey rakes her fingernails down his broad, pale back hard enough to draw tiny beads of blood and Ben moans. He presses bites and kisses down her neck and across her breasts as he pushes across the bond how much he loves her, how he needs her, the sheer intensity of his emotion stealing Rey’s breath.
Of course their first time is like this, this mix of tenderness and roughness, passion and pain in equal measure. How could it be anything else?
When he enters her, she winces. It’s not out of pain, Rey is accustomed to pain. It’s just so strange having someone physically inside of her. Ben stills over her, his face flushed, lips swollen.
“Do you want me to stop?” Ben frowns and begins to move away, only for Rey’s legs to lock around his hips.
“Don’t you kriffing dare.” She manages to grit out, shifting her hips experimentally.
It takes them a moment to find a good rhythm, but it helps when you can literally read your partner’s mind. Ben fucks the same way he fights, throwing his whole being into it. She puts a suggestion across the bond, showing Ben how she touches herself, and he immediately slips a hand between them to rub against her clit in a way that has her positively wailing underneath him.
She reaches her climax just before he does, clawing at Ben’s back and biting his shoulder as the ripples of her orgasm push him over the edge. He shouts as he spills into her, mind blissfully blank.
By the time their sweat has dried he’s apologising, and Rey considers smacking some sense into him.
“Why the hell are you apologising? You know I wanted that right? You did feel how much I enjoyed that? Please tell me you could tell that I enjoyed that.”
“Yes, I could tell you enjoyed that.” There’s a hint of smugness in his voice, but she decides he’s earned it. “I just…I had planned this differently.”
“You planned this?” Rey grins. “What did you have planned? Dim lighting, flowers and romantic music?”
Ben has the good grace to flush. He had, in fact, envisaged something like the cheesy holo-romance scene Rey is describing. “I meant for there to be a bed at least.” He mutters.
Rey’s laughter peals out, soon joined by Ben’s rumbling chuckle. Seeing him so carefree makes Rey feel lightheaded. He looks so much younger when he smiles.
He pulls his cape over them, and for a while they just hold each other. Neither wants to be the one to say it.
“Ben. We can’t do this.”
“I know.”
“It’s dangerous.”
“It is.”
There is another agonising pause.
“What do we do now?”
Ben shifts uncomfortably. The planet is warm but the ground is hardly the most comfortable place to be having this conversation.
“The plan you came up with, we should go ahead with it. It’s very risky but if we pull it off, we can end this war now.”
“And be together?”
Ben presses his lips to her forehead.
“And be together.” Provided we both survive.
“I heard that.” Rey pokes his chest. “I’m not dying on you and you’re not dying on me Ben Solo, not when I just got you back.”
“I assure you sweetheart, dying is the last thing I intend to do.”
**** The new Jedi order is grey.
The first place they go to is Ach-to.
“Well, you showed me the way here eventually.” Ben gives a lopsided grin from the co-pilot’s seat. He’s changed since the war ended, still with his moments of darkness but the light within him getting brighter, strengthened by Rey’s love and a new purpose in life.
Rey just rolls her eyes and punches in the landing co-ordinates.
The caretakers like Ben straight off, more than they have ever liked Rey. Within a week Ben has picked up snippets of whatever ancient language they speak and utterly charms the fish women by making polite conversation in their native tongue.
“Why do they call you The Destroyer?” His eyes are twinkling as he says it, and Rey fully expects the caretakers have told him of every little incident that lead to that ignoble nickname.
“You remember the time I told you about the mirror cave?”
“Don’t change the subject.” Stop trying to distract me.
“That was in that hut.” She points across the courtyard. I’m not trying. I’m succeeding. “They rebuilt it. You want to pay a visit?” She saunters across the open space, pushing across the bond an image of Ben pressing her against the stone walls of the domed hut as she screams his name.
Ben almost trips over his feet rushing to follow her. She succeeds in distracting him. Thoroughly.
When they emerge from the hut a while later, a caretaker narrows her eyes at them from across the way and mutters something. Rey doesn’t understand the words but the tone is universal.
“Ugh, what is she saying?”
“You don’t want to know.”
One morning she leads Ben to the room where Luke had told her the first lesson. They sit by the pool with the mosaic of the prime Jedi, discussing the texts Rey had taken. Ben is working on translating some of the older texts, going into raptures over the beauty of the penmanship and the complexity of the grammar rules of whatever ancient dialect it is written in. Rey understands less than half of it but doesn’t care, simply happy to gaze at Ben as he lights up talking about something he’s passionate about.
She’s reading one of the texts when Ben stands up to stretch his legs. His footsteps echo around the stone cavern, and it isn’t until the silence stretches out Rey realises he’s stopped. She looks up, and sees Ben standing by the platform where she first consciously reached out to the force.
Ben is very still, his hands clenched.
She approaches him cautiously. He’s never hurt her, but he’s still having moments where the darkness overwhelms him. She suspects he always will. He’s had a long run of good days lately and she wants to hold on to that for as long as possible.
She calls out to him softly, and he starts, whirling round to meet her.
“You ok?”
“Luke. He was here. This is where he-“ He breaks off, hot tears spilling down his face, and Rey can feel the agony and shame washing over him.
She wants to say something. She wants to make it better, to take the pain of losing his father and uncle and mother from him. She can’t. She knows Ben will never be free of this, not really. He’ll always be caught between the light and the dark, fighting that battle within himself for the rest of his life.
She just holds him.
It’s a week later that Ben announces that he’s going into the cave. Rey’s first instinct is to tell him not to, afraid of what the mirror might show him, scared that it might shatter what little fragile happiness he’s been able to find.
But she realises it’s not her place to take this from him. She needed to see what the Force had to show her, so does Ben.
It doesn’t stop her from pacing nervously outside their hut waiting for him to come back though. The sky is a leaden stormy grey and the choppy waters surrounding the island are the same colour. She hears one rumble of thunder, then another, and the sky is split with a fork of lightning. The sky darkens and rain starts pelting down. Still she stands outside the hut, shivering, arms wrapped around her as she squints through the storm for a familiar hulking figure. She tries reaching out across the force bond but it’s uncharacteristically quiet, which terrifies her.
She’s just about made up her mind to run down to the cave, her mind filled with images of Ben bloodied and broken, when he trudges up the steps to the gathering of stone huts. His face is hidden underneath his hood. When they get into their hut he hangs up his cloak, takes off his boots, and starts undressing for bed. He doesn’t say a word, his face is blank. Not sure what else to do, Rey does the same, slipping into bed next to him.
The bonds is still silent and when Rey reaches out she finds Ben has closed himself off from her, which he almost never does. The silence makes her edgy, fidgeting until Ben puts a strong arm around her and pulls her to his chest. Finally he speaks.
“I’ve been thinking, about what we were discussing regarding taking the best parts from the dark and light sides in the new order.”
Rey looks up at him. Ben is gazing up at the ceiling, his face no longer blank but serene. The bond is still shut and Rey realises that Ben is keeping something from her, feeling a spike of anxiety as she wonders what he saw in the cave. His eyes are red-rimmed but he seems calm.
“I think that in the new order, we should allow relationships. Jedi should be allowed to love, and marry, and have children.”
He opens the bond finally and Rey gasps. His dark eyes gaze into hers as he lets the depth of his feelings for her flow through their bond. He wants all of those things, with her.
“Yes.” The word is out of her mouth before she can stop it. “Stars, Ben yes.”
He doesn’t seem to mind that she didn’t let him ask her out loud.
**** Their new life is purple.
Rey had insisted that the new training temple be built on a planet with lots of greenery and water, and Ben is more than happy to oblige. When the former resistance had bargained with the Republic to let Ben live, they had agreed on the condition that the new Jedis pick an uninhabited planet on the outer rim to build their temple. Rey is free to come and go as she pleases but it is understood that for Ben, this is a permanent banishment to be broken on pain of death. Considering the alternative, Ben is happy to oblige.
He scours the systems looking for a suitable planet, and when he finds one he comms Rey to come immediately.
When she lands, Ben is standing there with a bunch of small, sweet-smelling purple flowers grasped in his massive hand, presenting them to her with a flourish.
“My wedding gift to you.” He’s beaming as Rey takes the flowers and leaps into his arms, peppering her husband’s face with kisses.
“It’s perfect.” The planet is lush and beautiful, and Rey loves it on sight.
The process of building and establishing the temple is even more difficult than they both had anticipated. Even with help from many of the former resistance and first order members and even some republic workers that Finn somehow manages to wrangle for a time, construction is slow going. People are still wary of Ben, and he tries very hard to hide how it affects him. The stress of the project is making both of them lose sleep, and both have dark violet smudges under their eyes.
Rey has been on several missions to find potential padawans, and they now have a handful of children waiting in a core world orphanage for the temple to be complete so they can begin their training. Both Rey and Ben have agreed that they will not be taking children from their families at infancy, as the old Jedi order did. But both are equally adamant that force-sensitives need to be taught how to harness their powers, both for their safety and others.
It’s several months later than planned when they finally take in their first students, and they’re not remotely ready. Trying to keep the children on task whilst meditating is like trying to herd Porgs, keeping them awake during Jedi history lessons is nigh impossible, and the first few saber form lessons result in several spectacular dark purple bruises on students and teachers alike.
But eventually they fall into a routine. Eventually they feel like they know what they are doing.
So naturally something happens to throw them off.
Rey falls ill. She starts feeling tired for no reason and gets queasy in the mornings. It isn’t until she checks the calendar on her datapad that she realises she’s skipped her last two periods. She’d not had regular periods until joining the resistance and starting to put on weight, and between that and the stress of keeping their padawans from misbehaving she’d lost track. She sends a discreet comm to Rose asking her to make sure a med droid and a test is included in the next supplies shipment.
She’s sure Ben will sense the small life growing within her through the Force some time soon, he’s already caught on that there’s something going on when she starts being very careful what she puts through the bond. It’s important to Rey that she be absolutely sure, and that she tells him herself out loud.
The shipment arrives and the med droid confirms Rey’s suspicion. Really she can feel the life inside her already, but she wants to know it’s healthy before she tells Ben.
She goes to where Ben is trying, and failing, to walk the children through the Shii-Cho.
“Rey, can you come over here? I need to demonstrate…” He trails off. Rey is beaming, practically running over to him before throwing her arms around him to whisper in his ear. He freezes.
Then suddenly his lips are pressed against hers, the padawans making vomit noises at the sight of their two masters, already unnecessarily lovey-dovey in their opinion, making out in the middle of the training area.
“Class is dismissed.” Ben says, barely taking his lips off Rey’s.
Rey knew pregnancy would change her body, but she’s still not happy with the reddish-purple stretch marks that stripe across her belly. Ben kisses them and tells her she’s never looked more beautiful.
The med droid drops another bomb on her at her latest check-up. She’s trying to work out how to tell Ben when he gives her the perfect opportunity.
“Rose sent a message. She’s making a baby blanket, she wants to know if it should be pink or blue?”
“Hmm?” Rey is pressing her hands against her belly, the droid said she should start feeling movement soon.
“You know, pink for a girl or blue for a boy?” Ben in the image of forced nonchalance, she can tell he’s dying to know.
“Funny you should mention that. I just found out today.” Rey smiles. “Tell her to make a purple one.”
“Purple?” Ben frowns. “Why purple?”
“One of each.”
“One of each? One of…” Realisation dawns on his face. “As in, two? We’re having two?!”
“It must run in your family.” Rey laughs.
Ben falls to his knees in front of where she is sitting, kissing her belly.
“Rey you’re amazing. I love you so much I- oh kriff.” He reaches for the datapad and starts typing furiously.
“What is it?”
“I’m telling them to double the amount of baby stuff in the next supplies shipment.” He pauses. “And to include a crate of Corellian whiskey, I think I’m going to need it.” **** Well it's a bit late but here we go. I wrote this last minute and it is unbeta'd so please excuse any errors.

I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS
we are what they grow beyond okay
let’s do this.
luke so he was the most contentious part of the movie according to The Reviews and bro took me on a repeating bell curve of THIS IS EVERYTHING and I HATE THIS THIS IS NOT HOW WE ACT and back to THIS IS EVERYTHING. i loved that he YEETS that lightsaber off a gd cliff, that he deadeyes rey as he drinks hippo/watto fusion tiddy milk. i love his aggressive gordon fishsticks man aesthetic and his old man & the sea thoreau realness. i love that he hangs with judgy nuns and fears The Tube
i was not here for how he reacted to rey after she tried to go to the dark. i kind of hated it. that wasn’t the luke that i know
but then
yoda. his singular convo with yoda was 1. amazing and 2. desperately needed to sort of give that insight into why he was so gd salty and angry and afraid.
YOURE ALWAYS LOOKING AT THE HORIZON GOD DAMN IT
i love how he comes back. i love how he comes back in gd chanel. i love his hand touch with leia, the metaphysical gold dice that lbr was probably han’s engagement ring to her, and i love that for luke, at the end of the day it’s about leia and how he failed her “han was han about it. but leia” was one of the most telling and amazing lines in the movie for me and i love the skywalker twins love. i like that rey is trying to find father figures and she found that eccentric uncle instead. i love that he wants to abandon the past but he can’t until his last master forces him to let it go
“I’m Sorry” and legends vs. heroes vs. leaders and just kill me im gonna luke meta until the end of time.
motherfucking brushed his shoulder off
leia
god that parting goodbye. that handgrab and forehead touch. i’ll have more to say about leia later but here’s my highlight reel:
this poor woman has been surrounded by gd flyboys her entire gd life and you can just feel the Over It she has for Thrilling Heroics and Ace Pilots and gdi you just listen or you’re gonna get slapped
that poe/bail and kylo/vader dynamic tho
her and holdo gave me life. i love that she’s the backbone of this resistance, that when han and luke and literally everyone else she depended on ran away she stood her ground and she gave it her all until she was certain there was no solution. the resistance is the spark but leia is the ember, and it was so clear that she was the heart of the resistance, the rebellion, and also the people around her. i loved the leia love and respect in this movie
shitty golden dice gd engagement ring
she still hasn’t given up on ben. she didn’t give up on luke. or han. or poe. she believes in people in her reserved way and uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh space mom ;;;;;;;;;;;;;
rey
DEADLIFT THOSE ROCKS BABY. DEADLIFT THEM TO THE SKY
her disdain of luke’s life choices made my life. their banter made my life. their mutual shit-giving made my life. here’s your salt uncle, rey.
i love that she is sort of a foil to luke. where his self-sacrificing was what made him a legend, hers is what might have created the ultimate monster IM READY FOR NINE BABY
FINALLY SOME TRIPPY FORCE SCENES. The Tube and her vision of the Force made my entire life. you know how i am about Force Visions okay
I SAW THAT LIGHTSABER SPLIT IN HALF AT THE END. I KNOW THAT MEANS WE’RE GETTING HER SABERSTAFF
i love that she immediately tattles to chewie when luke doesn’t open the door. we have a wookiee
kylo ren
“I’m sorry.” “I BET YOU ARE!” like gd that’s it that’s him that’s the character. that line luke gave him about how if he gets struck down in anger he’s carrying him with him forever LIKE HIS DAD just fucking kill me
that boy is done. heart eyes motherfucker and quivering chins every other frame
the kill it if you have to WAS NOT THE CONTEXT i was expecting it in and i was so pleasantly delighted!! i like that we got inside his head to see that he’s now actively trying to distance himself from vader. luke. his parents. everything-- how he wants his own legacy and get the fuck out of the way because it’s going to happen
except don’t get entirely the fuck out of the way because he’s lonely and it’d be better if he had a Skype friend throughout this call him maybe
I DID NOT EXPECT THAT SNOKE DEATH TO GO DOWN THE WAY IT DID IT WAS EVERYTHING SPIN THE BOTTLE: MAULIAN EDITION
HIM AND HUX ARE GOING TO BE AMAZING. that second where hux is going for the gun and kylo just BITCH YOU THOUGHTS out of a concussion is incredible
How those force bond scenes were shot was my everything. SO GOOD
finn
“you’re scum”
[sunglasses ]
“Rebel scum.”
HI THAT’S ME FUCKING DEAD AND GONE
i loved the subtle motivation change the resistance gave him. AS WEIRD AS THIS IS i appreciated him and DJ the most because DJ IS WHAT A SHITTY SELFISH HUMAN LOOKS LIKE THAT’S ALWAYS ON THE RUN and meanwhile there’s rose being THE BEST SELFLESS HUMAN EVER and i loved that fucking scene where DJ is going through the fighters and OOP XWING because i think it really honed in on the fact that this perspective is everything that finn is not and L O V E
SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH THEM FREEING ALL THE ANIMALS FROM THE ZOO
SHUT THE FUCK UP AT THAT GD CASINO CITY AND FINN HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE UNTIL HE REALIZES THAT OH THIS IS NOT THAT NICE
THAT FINNREY HUG AT THE END. GOD THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO FUCKING MUCH
“THEY REALLY HATE THAT SHIP!” YES THEY DO FINN BUT WE ALL LOVE YOU
HIS SUICIDE RUN THAT WASNT
ROSE
I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER

Your Darkside Will Make You Whole: Part 2
This is the continuation of my Reylo Fanfic. The first part can be found by scrolling down on my page. This is a slow burn of a story. There are some spoilers from the Bloodlines book by Claudia Gray. If you don’t want to see them don’t listen to Po when he is on the Millenium Falcon. Lots love written here for our favorite space mom.
The next morning, I am meditating with Master Luke at our favorite spot overlooking the ocean. I am trying to stop thinking about the dream but it keeps rising to the surface and disturbing me. This really isn’t something that I want Master Luke to know about. I blush with shame and pray that I never have to have that discussion. I am embarrassed. Kylo Ren is horrible. He killed Han Solo and his fellow Jedi. He follows the Darkside. What twisted part of my subconscious would even come up with something like that dream? Thankfully, Master Luke provides a distraction by asking, “Are you ready for the Gathering?”
“Yes, master.”
“Ilum use to be a revered pilgrimage site for Jedi. All of the Padawans use to go there to collect their first crystals. Beneath the temple is a maze of tunnels. Inside you will find Adegan crystals. Find the one that calls to you. Be mindful while you are there. The caves create a nexus in the Force. It may be disorientating and may cause hallucinations. Do not let this divert you. The Force will guide you to the crystal that is meant for you.”
There is a long pause as we watch the Millenium Falcon start to make its descent onto the island. He smiles at me and says, “You can do this, Rey. Trust yourself and trust your friends.” and we get up to meet the new arrivals.
Finn steps off of the lowering ramp of the Millennium Falcon. He is wearing all black along with his familiar jacket. The former Stormtrooper grins widely when he sees me but is startled when BB-8 zooms past him to get to me first. I laugh as BB-8 stops with that funny little wobble he does. He excitedly chirps in Binary how much he missed me and I smile and pat his head. I run to Finn and we are both giddy and greet each other with as much enthusiasm as two yearling Banthas. BB-8 circles us and chirps as Finn and I talk over each other.
“How is your training going?”
“No, how is your training?”
“Tell me what’s happening with the Resistance?”
“Have you learned to mind control yet?”
“I’ve got that. Working on Force speed. Have you figured out how to fly yet?”
“No! I think I’ll focus on being a gunner and leave the flying to Po.”
“And we are all grateful for that.” Po Dameron smirks as he dodges BB-8 to join us. He gives me a quick hug.
“Any luck winning over Chewie yet?” I ask. The rebellion pilot gives a wry grin and replies, “I think his heart belongs to another.”
Chewie catches up to us and sweeps me off my feet. I laugh as he spins me around. “Miss me as a co-pilot?” I jokingly ask. Chewie growls some complaints that Finn has the flying instincts of a rock and Po only wants to play in little X-wings. He lifts me up so I’m eye level with him.
“Don’t be a Jedi.” he howls, “You are meant to be a smuggler. Run away with me.” I dissolve into a giggling mess and give him another hug when he puts me down.
“Get off of her, you old Wookie or at least bring her over here so that I can take a look at her.” I hear Leia lovingly say behind us followed by Master Luke’s chuckle. Chewie adjusts his grip and sweeps me up onto his back. I shriek and grip his shoulders tightly and start to giggle as he bounces me over to Leia. She is wearing her long graying hair in a beautiful long loose braid. Chewie puts me down in front of Leia. She puts her hands on my face and looks at me like she is searching for something. I don’t know what she is looking for but she smiles and pulls me into a hug. I feel the calming energy that she exudes as I wrap my arms around her. When I pull away, I catch a flash of sadness and know that she is thinking of her son.
“It’s so good to see you, Rey.”
“Thank you, I’m so glad you are here.”
“Ilum is an ice planet. I have packed you extra clothes and a coat. There is also a backpack of everything you will need.”
“Thank you, so much.”
I don’t know what to say after that. I feel overwhelmed and never want this to stop. It’s like a dream. I didn’t think that I would find belonging so quickly and I never want to give it up. I look at Leia and try not to make a fool out of myself. Out of everyone, including Master Luke, I want her approval above all else. She fondly pats my cheek and says, “Please be safe and hurry back. We’ll all have dinner together tomorrow.”
A few hours later, Finn, Po, and I are in the common area on the Millennium Falcon. Finn and Po are playing a funny strategy game that I haven’t played before. It has holograms of varying creatures and the goal seems to be to have your creatures bludgeon your opponent's creatures and the last standing wins. Its tech is pretty behind the times. As a scavenger, I don’t think even I would try to salvage it. But they are having fun.
“There is something that I don’t understand.” Finn says.
“Like how to play this game.” Po teases as a big armed monster of Po’s crushes Finn’s tentacle one.
Finn’s face tightens into a frown and I smile distractedly as I continue to fiddle with the parts that will eventually be the housing for the crystal in my saberstaff.
“No, well yes that too, but something else. General Organa and her brother, were instrumental in the fall of the Empire. When the First Order was rising, the General was a senator but the Republic Senate did nothing to increase its military. Now the only army is the one that General Organa created outside the Republic’s consent. I would have thought that, given who she is, they would have helped. Why didn’t they?”
I put down the casing and look to Po. “Master Luke never discussed it either but it didn’t really come up.”
“Where have you two been living?” Po says in surprise looking back and forth between the two of us.
“Um...Stormtrooper program.”
“Jakku.”
“Right.”
Po’s brow furls as he tries to figure out where to start. He sits back as he begins,
“Ok, well. General Organa was a senator along with Mon Mothma. Mon Mothma was able to guide the Senate of the New Republic and it did some good work for awhile. But after she died, no one was able to take her place and the in-fighting between two opposing parties, the Populist and the Centrists, made it impossible to get anything done. The Senate was pretty useless and that was about the same time that Senator Organa and Senator Ransolm Casterfo started an investigation into a criminal cartel. It turned out that it was funding the First Order. But nothing could be done about that until the Senate could function. A motion was passed for the creation of a First Senator that would have real power over the Senate. Senator Organa was the lead candidate for the Centrists but a rival revealed that Senator Organa was the daughter of Darth Vader. Something that she had kept a secret. It ruined her political career and she lost all clout. It was a big scandal and everyone in the Galaxy knew about it. Except, apparently, you two. It was about six or seven years ago. The Senate would do nothing about the First Order so in the end she had no choice but create a resistance against the First Order without the help of the New Republic.”
“They sure farkled themselves with that decision.” I say and sigh thinking about all those people that were destroyed by the First Order.
“Rey! Such language. What did they teach you under that rock you were living under.” Po exclaimes and quickly covers Finn’s ears. “Not in front of the youngling Reb.”
Finn knocks his hands away and exclaims, “Get off of me. They had that word under my rock too.”
I feel the jolt as the Millennium Falcon slips out of hyperspace and hear Chewie in the cockpit call out.
“What did he say?” Finn asks me.
“Umm, we are here so stop gossiping and get ready.”
I find the bag that Leia had left for me and a part of me imagines that this is what it feels like when a mom looks after you. I let that thought go. I tell myself that I have no more tears to cry over that and focus on what is in the bag. She thought of everything. Extra thermals to go over my clothes, an emergency medical and survival kit, tracking device, and, at the very bottom, a gun. I don’t think I’ll need it because I still have Luke’s lightsaber and the planet is abandoned. But seeing the gun makes me happy. It seems like such a Leia thing to include. She cares and is trying to include everything that will make sure I will be coming back.
After I finish dressing, I join everyone else in the cockpit. Just as Leia had said, Ilum is an ice planet and it looks like a storm will be blowing in within the galactic standard hour. Chewie lands the Falcon at the ruins of the Jedi temple that is located on the side of a snow-covered mountain. I can feel something pull at me and write it off as a side effect of the nearby nexus in the Force. I feel a nervous excitement as we all step off of the Falcon. I zip up my coat and shrug my bag onto my back. Everyone but Chewie stops for a second to brace against a sudden gust of freezing wind. I watch Chewie’s hair swirl around and envy him his coat. It seems to be suited to whatever environment he is in.
Chewie gives a growl that echoes around us and we continue on to the temple. At one point in the temple’s history, there must have been an explosion because the outer face is in ruins. It must have been a while ago because all of the jagged edges of the fallen stones have been smoothed out by the wind. As we get closer we see a path has been cleared away.
“Are we sure this thing is stable?” Finn askes.
“I’m sure it has been frozen in place so long that only a bombing from space will move this ice cube. I vote that we test that theory. Anyone second that motion?” Po says as he pulls his hood up against the wind swirling off of the large temple stones.
“Hey”, I reply, “You guys were the ones that found this planet and the temple. Personally, I would have looked in more hospitable places. But I’ll take ice over sand at this point in my life.”
“I don’t know. It seems kind of perfect for a vacation or epic Jedi quest.” Finn says jokingly, ”Nice view. Quiet. No one trying to kill us. What could go wrong?”
“Finn!” Po says in mock horror and shakes his head, “Why would you jinx us like that? You have so much to learn about the fickleness of life. It’s just waiting for an invitation to turn you into Bantha poodoo.”

Your Darkside Will Make You Whole
This is my first go at a Reylo Fanfic. Or any fanfic for that matter. I appreciate any feedback because I apparently do not trust the kindness of family members and need to rely on the feedback of strangers who are indifferent to my feelings. Please be constructive criticism and be gentle. This is my first time.
I'm running up the steps to the temple for what must be the thousandth time. I don't mind it. I'm used to being on the move but in a desert where I have to conserve energy because of the heat. The scarcity of food and water also didn't encourage sustained running. Here I feel like I could run forever. Ahch-To is so different than Jakku in ways that I never would have imagined. The water saturates everything, like the heat and sand on Jakku, but the water is cool and healing. I hear the water everywhere. The sound of it crashing against the cliffs sings me to sleep at night. I feel the water in the air when I breathe it in. I didn't even realize that my eyes hurt from being so dry until the discomfort went away. And I will never forget the first time I completely submerged into the ocean. It was so quiet under the water with only the dull roar of the waves. Being suspended in the water was such a deliciously weird feeling that I had to keep myself from laughing. I was giddy. I don't think that I have ever been this clean.
Even the sand is different here. On Jakku, the sand is the enemy, not to be trusted and invasive. Here it is beautiful, white, and inviting. I never would have considered stripping down and laying in the sand on Jakku unless I had a death wish. Here I actually bathe in the sun instead of trying to escape it. The sun here is gentle instead of scorching. I love the feeling of my feet sinking into the cool clean sand when I step into the water. I never imagined it would be like this or that I would even find the island that had been my refuge at night when I needed to feel safe. I used to feel sad when I thought of all that time that I wasted on Jakku. I had the opportunity to leave and didn’t. I put so much unquestioning faith in the belief that my family would return. But, if I had let go of that illusion sooner, Kylo Ren might have killed me along with the rest of the students that had been training with Master Luke. Master Luke said that the Force guided me to him when the time was right and I was needed.
I did learn much on Jakku. I learned how to survive on very little and how to make the best use of anything I had. I’m strong. I learned to fight. When I would get bored, I would sneak into Unkar Plutt’s junkyard where I would explore the ships. I scavenged enough parts in my travels that I created a flight simulator and learned to fly. Jakku was my home. But as Maz said, “Whomever you are waiting for on Jakku, they’re never coming back. The belonging you seek is not behind you but ahead.” And now I’m in this beautiful place where I have been taking my first steps into a larger world.
When I arrived here six months ago to find Master Luke, I had been afraid that he wouldn't consent to teach me. He had come to Ahch-To in a self-imposed exile after his nephew, Ben Solo, had turned to the dark side and became Kylo Ren. The Jedi Killer. I had seen, during the Force vision, Master Luke and R2D2 in the light of the burning temple and felt his despair. I was worried that he wouldn’t want to risk it again. But Kylo Ren had been right about one thing. I did need a teacher. If Master Luke wouldn't train me, I would have to start running. If he had survived our fight and the destruction of the Starkiller Base, Kylo Ren would never stop hunting me. At least not until I had been converted or killed. I didn’t want to waste my life like that. If Master Luke trained me, then I could defend myself, help the rebellion, and it would mean Master Luke would no longer be the last of the Jedi. I didn’t want the Jedi to die out. I didn’t want to leave my new found friends.
I was also worried that Master Luke would be disinclined to train me because of my fight with Kylo Ren on the Starkiller Base. During that fight, I had been driven by anger which is something that the Jedi frown upon. But Kylo Ren had murdered Han and had either killed or injured Finn. I could hear a voice in my head demanding that I kill him.  At the end of the fight, Kylo Ren was on the ground. His face was bleeding where I had struck him. There was a moment where I almost gave in. It would have been so easy. This monster would no longer be chasing me and my friends. Who else would die because he lived? If he lived. But I turned away and I hope that would put Master Luke at ease. I would never be like Kylo Ren so conflicted and angry. If I had been lucky and Han Solo had been my father, I would never have murdered him. I would never betray those who loved me. I know all too well how that feels. I felt relieved after he talked to me about what he had experienced during his final battle with Darth Vader and the Emperor. He too had felt the pull and turned away.
I wipe off the sweat that had collected on my forehead as I clear the last of the temple steps. I see Master Luke wearing his brown hooded cloak and belted beige and white robes. He looks like he is meditating but his eyes are open now. He had told me about training with Yoda on Dagobah and that he would carry Yoda on his back during training. I smile at the thought of having to carry Master Luke the same way and am grateful that I don't. I sit down with him and he hands me a flask of water. We sit together in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes before he says, “Clear your mind.”
I close my eyes. My pounding heart slows and I begin to match my breathing with the sound of the waves below. Master Luke continues, “Feel the Force move through you. Around you. A Jedi’s strength comes from the Force. It is an ally. Life creates it and makes it grow. You must feel the force around you. Between you and me, the rocks, the grass, the ocean, everywhere. ”
I allow his voice to calm me further and begin to feel the energy encompassing me. I sense it strongly in my Master beside me. As I begin to feel it flowing through the grass and rocks, I begin stacking the pile of rocks beside us. I almost have all of the rocks stacked on top each other when I feel something pulling me. It is a familiar feeling and is strong. I begin to concentrate on it and pull along the connection. I follow it off Ahch-To and it leads to a dark room. I hear the familiar sizzle of a lightsabre and as I turn around I face the black figure of Kylo Ren. The red light from his lightsabre reflects off of the chrome on his black mask. He is as intimidating as he had been on Takodana. I feel the rage pouring off of him. Then I hear the rocks fall and I’m back on Ahch-To. Master Luke is looking at me analytically.
“Kylo Ren is alive.”, I stammered, “Is he alive, Master?”
“Trust yourself, Rey. You know this is true. The best thing you can do right now is complete your training so you are ready when you face him again.”
“I will face him again. Do you know when?”
“Don’t let it distract you from the here and now. Concentrate on what you must do.”
I try to settle but my thoughts are consumed by thinking about the implications of fighting Kylo Ren again. I can’t help but think of Leia. Does she know he’s alive? I am worried about her. After the destruction of the Starkiller base and finding Luke, we had all taken one night to mourn the loss of Han Solo. It was all she could afford. With the rise of the First Order and the destruction of Hossian Prime, the General had too much to do. With all she had faced and had been through, she was still leading others. One day I had asked her about how she continues on. Leia said that she had been serving the people since she joined the senate when she was not much younger than I was. She explained that it was her duty to serve. If she only did it when it was convenient for her then she wouldn’t be doing it for the people but for herself. Before that moment, I didn’t think that it was possible for me to respect her more than I already did. I was wrong. If I had felt that Han Solo was the father I never had, then Leia was the mother I couldn’t have even dreamed existed to wish for.
Master Luke breaks my concentration and says, “Rey, you are still having the dreams about what happened on the Starkiller base.”
I say nothing. It wasn’t a question and he knows that I have. I most often dream about being interrogated by Kylo Ren, Han Solo falling, and the planet collapsing. Just last night, I dreamt that we were all back on the Starkiller base. Kylo Ren is with Han Solo on the walkway in the oscillator room. I don’t want to watch but I can’t turn away. Everything goes dark and the jagged red beam of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber bursts through Han Solo’s back. His body falls. I start to cry. Kylo Ren begins to transform into a disfigured and elongated version of himself. His face becomes distorted and his body begins to stretch and become jagged like his lightsabre. He gets taller, darker, and even more menacing. I turn to run but he is already behind me. His face is corrupted and his eyes are blazing yellow with hate. I scream and wake up.
“Meditate on your dreams.”, Master Luke instructs, bringing me out of my thoughts.  “If they are repeating then there is a lesson in them that you need to learn”.
“Yes, Master.”
“General Organa and your friends will be arriving tomorrow. It is time for you to gather the materials for your weapon.”
I give him a big grin. That must mean that they have found a planet with the rare Kyber crystals that we wanted. I have been excited about starting this process. I have been training in sword fighting but I am already more than proficient with the staff. Master Luke has agreed for me create a saberstaff.
“I’ll make dinner.” He continues, “You can go get cleaned up.”
Master Luke smiles as I give him another big grin. I jump up and run back to my room at the temple. I can see myself going through the motions of creating my weapon. Meditating with the crystal. Creating the handle. Training with my new saberstaff. If I was able to defeat Kylo Ren with a sword, what would I be like with a weapon that I am familiar with?
That night, I’m in the interrogation room again. Kylo Ren is in a crouched position in front of me. Looking like a monster who knows his prey is going nowhere and he can toy with it. “You still want to kill me.” Kylo Ren’s deep voice sounds mockingly confused. “That’s what happens when you are being hunted by a creature in a mask.” I bite back. Kylo Ren begins to take off his helmet. I really didn’t think that he would give up an advantage like that. What will be underneath? I’m transfixed with curiosity but worried that he will be even more terrifying without the mask. His helmet comes off as he reaches his full impressive height. The first thing that I see are his eyes. They are so dark that they are almost black but don’t show the hatred that I had expected to see. Next, I see his full lips and straight prominent nose. Then his black hair that contrasts so sharply with his pale skin. He had been a terrifying and unbeatable entity on Takodana. A creature straight from my nightmare. I almost wanted to face that monster again. Things were clearer with the monster rather than the confusingly innocent looking attractive man standing before me. This was not what I was expecting and does throw me off a little.
He stands beside me and begins his questioning. I try to hide my discomfort at our close proximity and force myself not to stare at him. I catch him rake his eyes down my body and am uncomfortable with his perusal. I’m trying to keep my breathing normal and feel the blush spreading across my face. I wonder what he sees. “You...a scavenger.” He says disdainfully. I try not to be embarrassed by his assessment. It’s not that I want him to see me differently than what I am but, saying it like I’m something to be scrapped off of his boot, it stings.
“You know I can take whatever I want.”
He moves suddenly and places his hand on my face. He is so close that I have to look away. I concentrate on anything else but the map and his breath on my neck. He delves into my life on Jakku and invades what he has no right to know. He talks about how lonely I am like he understands. I am angry that he would find a weakness so quickly but I don’t see how he can use it against me. Why would he want to know that? It feels like a violation. I don’t know if its suppose to be but, when I demand that he get out of my head, he does. It’s like he suddenly remembered what he was there for and continues to tell me how he is going to get the map. He starts to go through my mind again. But this time, I feel an undercurrent of connection between us and push back along it.
“Don’t be afraid, I feel it too.” He says.
I feel strengthened by the knowledge that I might be able to fight him and say, “I’m not giving you anything.”
“We’ll see.”
He renews his attack. His outstretched hand seems to focus his intent and I lean forward, fighting back and countering him. I can feel the shackles pressing against my forearms but ignore it to put everything I have into fighting. Each of us trying to gain a foothold in each other’s minds. Suddenly, he steps forward, grabs the back of my neck, and tips my head up. My breath hitches as we stare at each other. Still fighting until his lips meet mine. I close my eyes and answer back. I slip one hand over his shoulder and the other up through his hair. He moves a hand to my lower back to pull me closer and I help by wrapping my strong thighs around him. I hear a deep voice from across the room ask, “Is that what you wanted?”
I’m confused and more than a little dazed by what is happening. As I turn my head, he creates a trail of kisses and bites down to my neck. I open my eyes. I see a very confused looking Kylo Ren watching us. Something isn’t right. The Kylo Ren that was touching me disappears and the one standing across the room remains. I don’t understand and he is a little too real. I can see the cut across his face where I had hit him but has healed into a scar. I am surprised enough that I wake up.
