Poor reader :< ! no matter what AU reader always gonna have a not so great start in the relationship with her monkey husbands huh
if it's an iteration of bad end, then yes.
they're chill in any normal au, aside from some moderate demon selfishness (but it's nowhere near as bad as bad end).

Something I wonder about is whether Metal Sonic / Overlord calling Tails "unworthy child" will ever be followed up on.
On the one hand, this happened so long ago that it would almost feel weird to bring it up now. On the other, it's such a cutting, damnig criticism that throwing it in and then doing nothing with it feels like there was a story that was intended but cut. It's hard to believe this was just put in there for no reason.
A huge part of Tails' backstory is that he has always looked up to, and wanted to be a hero like, Sonic. And he has felt at times that he falls short of this. His theme from the Adventure games touches on this: "I wanna be strong, I wanna be trusted [. . .] I wanna be cool, I also wanna be like him / but that's not something I can do so easily." His arc in the Adventure games is about him becoming a hero in his own way. He saves Station Square in SA1, he throws (mecha) hands with Eggman in solo showdowns multiple times in SA2, the final time coming right after he's made to believe Eggman just killed Sonic right in front of him. (Which is why his treatment in Forces is so infuriating, but! This is not the post for that.) Tails doesn't have Sonic's strengths, but that's okay, because he has his own strengths that Sonic doesn't have, and his Adventure theme touches on this, too. "There are things only I can do."
But although Tails does become a hero in his own right, and has so much more confidence in his strengths now than he used to, I think he could still struggle with the thought that he's not enough sometimes. As much as I fucking hate what Forces did to him, this arc in the comics still does directly follow Forces, wherein Sonic was captured and Tails couldn't do anything to help him. What does that say about him? How does that make him feel? Is he good enough? Does he deserve to be at Sonic's side?
The use of the word "unworthy" is a deliberate one. Metal isn't calling Tails stupid, or weak, or slow, or anything else that could be an easily dismissable, shallow insult. He's calling him unworthy. He's saying, maybe you are smart, fast, or strong. Maybe you can build computers and pilot airships and maybe even crash one into me. But you are still not good enough. You are still an unworthy child. It's such a deliberate precision strike against Tails' insecurities. Metal wasn't just lashing out. He somehow knew just how to hurt Tails and he stabbed into that squishy weak spot with extreme prejudice.
And then . . . nothing ever came of it.
Of course, literally 2 pages later we had Sonic hyping Tails up:
Tumblr media
So maybe that's why. Metal called him unworthy, but Sonic called what he did amazing. So . . . problem solved? I wouldn't think so, but I'm also not on the creative team for these comics, so 🤷‍♀️ If I was, Tails wouldn't be referred to as a "sidekick" in his cast blurb while everyone else gets to be called a hero (or heroine), lol.
But anyway, I don't know where I'm going with this. It's just something I was thinking about as I try to sleep despite my illness making that difficult.

reading Thea Harrison's Dragon Bound and
a) the first true contemporary urban fantasy PNR that has REEEEEALLY gotten me to sit up and listen since IAD
b) have realized that I have a weird thing for the "big scary monster man provides food for his less scary captive and watches her eat" thing, and I didn't actually get that it was a thing until now

ok i might be talking complete nonsense here, but. the Strict Order as a metaphor for an author facing writer's block.
"the Strict Order abandoned the world," yeah if i wrote a sweet potato story where the main character just keeps suffering with no sign of resolution, i'd drop the story too (<- has actually done this with a tesilid fanfic orz)
"The world rejected the Strict Order's abandonment, so to keep the world going the Strict Order made Tesilid keep rewinding time." That's just like when you get stuck at a certain point in the plot and keep rewriting the events leading up to that moment to try to make it work. nods sagely i understand. i too make my OCs go through scenarios lots of times until we get it right. sometimes it takes months. sometimes it never works.
"The saintess only exists in timeline ~86," oh yes, the classic 'idk how to solve this problem so i'll introduce a new character' trick. i'm familiar
"okay but if time looping is the Strict Order rewriting the story, then why can Tesilid remember it" because the author already wrote those scenes and it'll be sad to throw them all out. and also it's a cool gimmick to have a regressor story. (<- has drastically changed the premise and worldbuilding of a story just to make an alternate timeline relevant before)
"what about ailette's existence--" same as muriel, where you insert a new character in hopes of solving a plot problem. except this time the characters write the plot themselves, because just this once you give priority to their character traits & goals rather than where you thought you wanted the plot to go. (tesilid has someone he can be himself around and who can do certain things on his behalf, instead of being fully constrained by his obligations. ailette gets insane buffs instead of being restricted by the world's difficulty.) therefore the chars now have more agency and are not only solving problems, but also taking the story in a direction you never would have thought of before. (whatever the hell tesilid and ailette are cooking rn, separately, which is surely going to result in interesting developments later on)
tldr; the strict order as a metaphor for an author who hit writer's block. their friend World Shaper inserts their OC Ailette in and their writing style is to let the characters run away with the plot. it works. world shaper and all their friends are co-writers working on the story together and reacting to it in real time.

2, 15, 19, and 50 for Ismene, Katya, and Andrine!
OC Asks Game
Hi Ash, thanks for asking :D It will be fun to reply for the three ladies hehe
Btw this has Kingmaker spoilers on the Question 19 ⚠
2. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate or other?
Andrine: She has sweet tooth, but she isn't that picky. She would choose hot chocolate without hesitation, but she also appreciates sweetened tea and coffee (although Octavia has prohibited her to drink the last one, because she doesn't know when to stop it)
Ekaterina: She hadn't many options in Irrisen. When she has tried hot chocolate for first time, it was like a catharstic moment of her life. But she is very fond for herbal and spiced teas.
Ismene: She has two favorite beverages, in fact: coffee for the mornings (otherwise she will kill some Varnling member easier) and mead for the nights. Ismene has no aversion to teas, but their smell always reminds her of the moments when she gets sick.
15. What is the first thing people notice about them?
Andrine: She talks loud and fast. It's like a lean squirrel with white hair. Also her clothes are always showy, even the Storyteller knows it.
Ekaterina: Well, she glows. Either her skin or hair. And like it's not enough, Katya is tall. The poor woman just wanted to be invisible sometimes.
Ismene: If her clothes don't catch attention for being different from the Brevic/Mendevian fashion, Tilly does for both of them! You can't ignore an outlander woman passing by with a bear.
19. What does your character consider to be their lowest point?
Andrine: Sometimes, Andrine sees herself as a petty person. She could let Regongar kill Janush's assistant when they met for the first time, but she did it because she took personally the kidnap attempt that her party suffered earlier. And she have declined the Lanthern King friendship because she got tired of his bullshit as Nyrissa's as well, like she didn't make friends/allies with questionable fey before.
Ekaterina: Her lack of self-esteem. Katya won't complain about her doubts out loud, but down in her soul there is a still uneasiness about her valor. She can go as far as her legs can carry her, but in the end she always questions herself if she really did enough.
Ismene: Her short temper. It always gets the best of her. She can't bear listening to any kind of small talk and pretend that's ok. Her intuition is sharp, and Ismene is good at perceiving who's telling the truth or not. Thanks to the Gods, she learned to be slightly patience because of Varn.
50. How does your character sleep at night? Are they a heavy or light sleeper? Do they dream or have nightmares? Do they find it easy to sleep or are they more a night owl?
Andrine: When she's not struggling with insomnia due worries, Drine is a heavy sleeper. And she took a long time to be really awaken. Also her dreams are chaotic, mixing irl incidents with fictional ones. Sometimes she can't tell what was real or not.
Ekaterina: Since a very young age, Katya has problems with nightmares. This got less common while she grew up and learned how to keep her impulses 'on the leash', but some nights she can't rest properly, dreaming with wildfires and destruction caused by herself.
Ismene: Although she is a reasonable light sleeper, Ismene uses to get properly rest always, and it doesn't matter where she is laid. She has no big problems about sleeping outdoors, after all she is from a nomad tribe. And she almost never recalls her dreams.

Since I’ve Entered the World of Romantic Comedy Manga, I’ll Do My Best to Make the Losing Heroine Happy is one hell of a title. Regardless, it’s a very cute manga/light novel. On hiatus until Valentine’s Day 2024 (or at least I heard it is), but it has 6 chapters + extras out right now. I’d recommend it!

the fact that miraculous is really good at not sexualizing Ladybug. like they literally take all female-sexy-superheroine stereotypes with the poses and spandex and everything and apply to Cat Noir twice as much as they do to Ladybug. just look at the way he stands istg hes always arching D:
