Let’s start this blog by starting with the biggest “nation”, the imagi-nation. I want you to just imagine for a moment that you are a pencil. See and feel yourself as a pencil.
The Pencil Maker taught me the following five things a while ago. (replace Pencilmaker with your Creator).
Any mistake in your life can be corrected. In the context of a pencil, the valuable lesson emerges that any mistake in life can be corrected, much like an eraser rectifying errors on paper. Just as a pencil allows for the revision of lines and marks, life provides opportunities for self-improvement and growth. The pencil's eraser symbolizes resilience and the capacity to learn from missteps, encouraging us to embrace the journey of self-discovery and improvement. Like an eraser to a pencil, the ability to correct and move forward is an integral part of the human experience.
Everything you do will leave a mark. The profound realization that everything you do will leave a mark becomes evident. Every stroke of the pencil, no matter how subtle, leaves an indelible trace on the canvas or paper. Similarly, each action we take in life leaves its imprint on our journey. The pencil serves as a metaphor for our choices and deeds, reminding us of the significance of mindfulness and intentionality. Just as the pencil's marks create a visual narrative, our actions shape the story of our lives, influencing the world around us. This notion encourages a thoughtful approach to our endeavors, recognizing the enduring impact of every mark we make.
What is important is inside of you. What is important lies within. While the pencil's outer casing may be simple, its true value resides in the graphite core that holds the potential for creation. Similarly, within each individual, the essence of significance and worth is internal. The external appearance may be modest, but the true measure of a person's worth, talents, and character is found within. This perspective encourages a focus on inner qualities, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness, kindness, and personal growth as the foundations of one's true value. Just as the pencil's strength lies in its core, our true strength emerges from the depths of our being.
A pencil needs to be sharpened. The metaphor of needing to be sharpened encapsulates the idea that, much like a pencil, you benefit from periods of self-improvement and refinement. Sharpening a pencil is not a sign of weakness but a necessary step to enhance its effectiveness. Similarly, in life, engaging in learning experiences, facing challenges, and seeking personal growth are akin to the act of sharpening oneself. It's a recognition that honing our skills, expanding our knowledge, and refining our character contribute to a sharper, more resilient self. Embracing the need for improvement becomes a positive and empowering aspect of the continuous journey toward self-discovery and excellence.
To become a better pencil, you need to allow the hand that holds it to have control. To improve, one must yield control to the hand that holds it. This metaphor underscores the importance of guidance, whether it be from mentors, experiences, or self-reflection. Just as a pencil's potential is realized when guided by a steady hand, personal growth and development are achieved by acknowledging and learning from the influences that shape us. Allowing the hand, representing guidance or direction, to control the course of improvement becomes a powerful reminder of the collaborative effort between external influences and personal agency in the journey toward becoming a better version of oneself.
Your Creator, in my case God Almighty, created us to be the best pencil we can be. We were given all we need to go and make a difference in life.
Have you given your Creator control of your life? Are you allowing yourself to be sharpened? Are you grateful for all you have inside of you? What marks are you leaving in life? Are you making mistakes and learning from them?
Go and ponder on these questions. But not for too long. And then go and be the pencil you were created to be.

not the most exciting photos, but here are Wormbecca and Tallgeese in with my mom's flock!
we did a slow introduction (keeping one group in the run and one in the yard, and then swapping, etc), which paid off. Tallgeese lost a few feathers on the first few days of integration, but there was no bloodshed, and everybody is now able to coexist peacefully.
they have a great setup, with a fenced in area to roam and a large coop to hunker inside in bad weather, so I don't feel badly leaving them here.
