like thinking about my Dragon Age insert right now while juggling Baldurs Gate 3 and where she is emotionally during Inquisition like

this half elf/dwarf is completely wrecked and upon seeing friendly faces she puts on her happy face, the one that Varric clocks when she's faking it because they are close friends after the events of DA2.

She hides her magic during the events of the third game, she has friends in the Circles (Bethany if she's still alive), Merrill is her closest friend and she worries about her. She has no contact with Isabela but finds letters by her hand delivered to her some weeks later.

And she is very worried about Fenris, she is separated from him, he's rescuing slaves from Tevinter and she's out here in the bum fuck middle of nowhere (she said in anger) helping people who don't really give a fucking damn.

She's separated from the people she loves and cares for, helping practical strangers. It's only with the gentle, prying hands of Cole is she able to ease away from her pain.

Madilyn has yelled at people in this Inquisition, she's told both Cullen and Cassandra off by saying "You WEREN'T in Kirkwall when it happened! You didn't see how many innocent people DIED! Fuck your Templars, fuck your Mages and fuck your Chantry, I care about the innocents on every single side. made a new inquisitor bc that's just what i do. this one is probably the gentlest one ive ever played - she's a dalish mage who's kinda naive abt the world. she's been sheltered since she's only ever lived with her clan and she's spent most of her life deeply immersed in learning and studying and hasn't had much actual experience bc of it, part of why she was sent to the conclave - to observe, to learn, to get some real experience under her belt she could return with

she's earnest, idealistic, wants to save everyone, and despite having a lot of pride in her heritage, doesn't think less or even very differently of alienage/non-dalish elves. she immediately gravitated towards solas, to a limited degree bc he was another elf, but the main reason was bc he acts like a teacher and she's used to having that kind of dynamic. she pushes back a little bit on some of the stuff he says, but for the most part just listens wide-eyed and excited to his tales. and she just wants to learn everything. has no qualms abt asking him to teach her blood magic, for instance.

she has a big crush on pretty much every woman she meets, but she's going to eventually pursue josie

she appreciates sincerity, admires ppl who are straightforward, trusts disturbingly easily for someone in her position, and is uncomfortable with being called the herald of andraste but doesn't push back against it much, mostly bc, again, she's used to being a student - a role that kind of accepts the situation she's in rather than forges her own reality. she hates death and killing and does all she can to find a diplomatic solution and values living by one's ideals.

as more happens to her she'll get a little tougher and a little more hesitant to trust wholeheartedly, but at her core she's going to remain very much the same throughout the game. she's a very hesitant leader and instead of being inspirational she's a bit blunt, but she doesn't shy away from emotionality and that works in her favor by allowing people to relate to her
