A little different from my usual posts... But I made a headcrab zombie cosplay for my local comicon and I wanted to post about it :) it was a very last minute thing so he was made from cardboard, aluminum and caulk! Really happy with the result

Some of the changes in Black Mesa Source's story seem a little bit fanfictiony and not-quite-what-Valve-would-do, but I do have to give them props for one good example of environmental storytelling: that one end-of-chapter scene they adapted from the original where the two soldiers jump you with the intention of dropping you in a trash compactor, and when you wake up and escape, you find a room with a bunch of dead headcrabs, the dismembered corpse of one soldier, and an inaccessible closet where you can see a second soldier sitting there, towards the end of the process of being turned into a headcrab-zombie. That's like ... it's flawless, if you're paying attention. You know exactly what happened here. There's no mysteries left.

A video of Rambo’s sculpt and finished paint. He’s now three years old and showing his age a bit, but still the same lovely boy as the day he was born. I’ve still got his mould and am planning to pour a few more before retiring him. Who knows, maybe I’ll open a headcrab adoption shop!

Tw: Fake blood/gore

Putting this under a read more because Content Warning: Gore, blood, guts, and implied eye trauma.

The last piece I did I had a lot of fun painting the headcrab zombie. It was toned down quite a bit on the gore factor though so I decided I wanted to experiment with some proper gore. It was indeed quite fun. I will have to paint more gore in the future.

Headcrab, now available in rotisserie chicken & ✨new✨ roast turkey sizes!

The larger resized pattern is pretty much perfect! It completely covers my face when tilted forward & covers most of the back of my head, which will be covered up with a faux-bloodied balaclava. Now I feel better moving on to spending time on the rest of the gorey details knowing the most important part of the costume has a properly shaped base. :D

one time i was driving downtown for some reason (i can’t remember, i have brain damage) and i was getting ready to back out of my parking spot when i saw a headcrab walk past my rearview mirror.

I immediately threw the car back in park and jumped out and shouted for this headcrab zombie’s attention and like

idk, from what i do remember, this was a good time. there was apparently a convention and they made the headcrab themself and i was just amazed and so glad i came across them D; i wish i would have kept in touch.
