because he was castiel. an angel of the lord. soldier of heaven. a being of million years old, cold as ever-frost, with a heart made of marble. and then he saved this soul. this man. gripped him tight and raised him from perdition. and he rebuilt this man's body with love, put every freckle on its place, cleaned his chest from the scars, made his eyes as green as eden gardens. and he got to know this man, and he fell in love with him. unconditionally. and his name became a prayer, dean left his lips more often than god's name. it has always been dean dean dean since then.

and this man. who hated himself. who couldn't look at his own reflection in the mirror. who carried such a heavy weight of guilt on his shoulders. this man took castiel and called him cas. and he showed him everything. humans life, and how beautiful it can be sometimes. and he told the angel, “this is worth fighting for”. and this man taught castiel to love and to care. and castiel cared about the whole world because of dean. he loved everyone and everything because he loved dean. and even god couldn't do anything. even god couldn't go against the love castiel had inside.

and now there cas is, more human than any actual men alive. with his family around him, in a place that feels more home then heaven had ever been for him. he's a best friend. and a father. he loves and he is loved. and now he wears a stupid cowboy hat because dean asked him, and cas knows that it makes dean happy. and he eats cookie crunch with jack at night in their kitchen, because he loves his son so much. and and he spends time with sam, because he's his best friend and he enjoys talking to him.

and this big, invincible love he has for his family - for people who became his family, because family don't end with blood - just fucks me up so bad. because he was never supposed to feel anything, he was never supposed to love, to care - and yet he is here. and he will be here for as long as he can (preferably, forever).

because this is the place where cas finally feels happy.
