one more red light
“I’m a really good driver!” Lu Yao declared yesterday, car keys in hand.
Fucking bullshit, Chusheng thinks, his face buried in one hand, because of course, San Tu has crashed them into a tree.
(where Lu Yao doesn’t marry You Ning and go off on a honeymoon cruise at the end of ep 36, but Chusheng gifts him with the car as a reward anyway)
---
Lu Yao kissed him.
Well, he kissed him on the cheek, so it’s not really the kiss he wants, but it has to count right?
Chusheng was still lamenting earlier that he hadn’t even gotten the chance to drive the beauty of a car around yet, but seeing how happily Lu Yao is smiling right now, the amount of money he spent on the thing was well worth it.
He would do anything, if it kept San Tu smiling like that.
“Hold on, why’re you so happy?” asks Chusheng, and he can’t quite control the smile tugging at his lips either, “Do you even know how to drive?”
“Of course I’m happy!” Lu Yao scoffs. “I’m a really good driver!”
“Well I won’t believe it until I see it,” Chusheng replies, crossing his arms and raising a challenging brow at Lu Yao. “Who knows, you might just crash the car on your first day driving it.”
He knows he’s gotten Lu Yao good when the man’s eyes go wide. Pointing at Chusheng, Lu Yao nods his head sagely, “Hah, I’m not scared of you. I know what you’re doing. You and me, the car, tomorrow! You’re going to have to eat your words, and then we’re going to Bo Xin Street for dumplings!”
It would be strange if Lu Yao didn’t know how to drive considering his love for expensive things, including cars. That was the only reason why Chusheng decided on this as a gift for Lu Yao. After all, he’s bought all manner of things for the man — a watch, leather shoes, a three-piece suit set and he has given Lu Yao a wad of cash too many times to count — and a car seemed like a reasonable next gift. Still, Chusheng has never seen Lu Yao drive.
He’s a glorified babysitter, wallet, drinking buddy, work partner and more to Lu Yao, but more often than not, Chusheng is the genius detective’s chauffeur.
“We’ll see,” Chusheng grins. Then to You Ning, “You in on the bet?”
You Ning rolls her eyes, “I’m not getting in the car until you test it out for me. Besides, I’ve gotta work tomorrow.”
“Hey! Who cooks for you, huh? You didn’t ask him to test it out before you started stealing my food-“
The two begin to bicker, and Chusheng looks away when the bickering evolves into a cushion fight again. He will leave them to their petty squabbles and come over tomorrow instead. Truth be told, he is rather curious. And it’d be a nice change from always driving Lu Yao around.
(In hindsight, he should have known. And maybe he could have started off with a less expensive model.)
You Ning has an early interview the next day and disappears from their shared apartment in before Lu Yao is even awake. Both Chusheng and Lu Yao have the day off after the arduous week they had, what with Lu Yao’s older sister, the troops, and Lu Yao’s persistent father.
By the time Chusheng turns up, Lu Yao is already making breakfast for two.
“Hey, you’re right on time,” he says, bringing a pot over from the stove to the dining table. “Get the bread from the couch!”
Chusheng grabs it on his way to the kitchen, and looks appreciatively at the spread before him.
“It’s a little extravagant for breakfast,” he notes, before looking up to watch Lu Yao putter about the kitchen, humming softly under his breath. “Something’s got you in a good mood this morning.”
“Inspector Qiao just gave me my dream car, of course I’m in a good mood. Plus, you’re bringing me to Bo Xin Street for dumplings later, I’m just thanking you in advance. Grab a cup of coffee, I finally got to try out the Swiss coffeemaker I got a store to import in last week,” Lu Yao chatters on.
Chusheng shakes his head, chuckling under his breath, “You haven’t won the bet yet.”
“You’re doomed to lose this bet,” Lu Yao says confidently, settling down in the seat opposite his. “I had to drive around a lot in London too, and Dajie has two cars back at home. Just because I prefer not to drive doesn’t mean I don’t know how to drive-“
“Geez, that’s enough, eat your breakfast,” Chusheng shoves a slice of bread into Lu Yao’s mouth, because they won’t get out of the house otherwise.
===
To be fair, Lu Yao does start off pretty well. He spends a long time touching the seats and feeling the metal and leather beneath his fingertips, smelling the car and communing at a spiritual level with the automobile. Chusheng doesn’t mind; while Lu Yao toggles with the switches and wheel, looking around wide-eyed like an excited kid, Chusheng watches Lu Yao instead.
He likes it when Lu Yao is this happy. He likes it a lot.
The car starts without any trouble, and the vibration of the engine under them has them both grinning at each other. Chusheng hasn’t driven the car yet either, and it’s all new to him. He first ordered the car for himself too, before deciding to gift it to Lu Yao for solving the Norman case, and also to celebrate his sister and father finally allowing him to stay in Shanghai.
They slowly make their way through town, and just as Chusheng resigns himself to treating Lu Yao to probably three bowls of dumplings at minimum, that’s when things literally go downhill.
Lu Yao makes a right turn and starts going down a slope. Instead of stepping on the brakes, he steps on the accelerator, and they start moving downwards really, really fast.
“San Tu!” Chusheng calls, his eyes wide, “There’s a person up front what are you doing-“
“Where?”
“There! Turn the wheel, turn it-“
“Oh!”
“San Tu!”
Chusheng grabs for the wheel and pulls hard, but Lu Yao jam brakes, and the car begins to spin. They barely avoid the old man strolling up the damn hill, and they hurtle off the road into the foliage on the side. When Chusheng sees what’s right in front of them, his heart leaps to his throat, and his first instinct is to grab for Lu Yao and cover him.
As expected, they crash, and rather spectacularly.
The force of the impact slams the both of them against the dashboard, with Chusheng hissing in pain as his elbow knocks into the steering wheel.
A few minutes later, Lu Yao fidgets in his arms, where Chusheng is holding him and covering the tall man with his body. Lucky for them both, the impact force wasn’t that severe, and aside from a ruined, crushed front end of the car and cracks in the front window pane, they’re safe.
Lu Yao angles his head to the side and he’s so close. He exhales, the puff of air tickling the skin on Chusheng’s neck, causing him to shiver.
“You okay?” Chusheng asks with a frown, pulling away to look Lu Yao over.
“I’m good,” he answers, a little shaken.
Glad that San Tu is alright, Chusheng lets him go and turns to stare at the damage. It sinks in suddenly, that this really, really expensive car that cost him four months of his salary, has been totaled.
“I’m a really good driver!” Lu Yao declared yesterday, car keys in hand.
Fucking bullshit, Chusheng thinks, his face buried in one hand, because of course, San Tu has crashed them into a tree.
Lu Yao stares wide-eyed at the damage, before turning to him.
“Sorry?”
“I’m a really good driver?” Chusheng repeats what the man said yesterday, exasperated. “Do you know what being a good driver even means, San Tu?”
He’s going to have to find a repair shop and a mechanic, and the cost for repairs might be so costly that he might as well get a new car for Lu Yao instead.
Chusheng really liked this car though. He liked it so much he gave it to Lu Yao, and the idiot crashed it.
He must have been silent for too long, for there’s a tug on his sleeve the next moment. Chusheng looks up at that, only to see a sheepish Lu Yao biting at his lips, looking appropriately chatised as if he was caught putting his hand in the cookie jar. In this case, however, the cookie is a car, and Chusheng doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“I’m sorry,” Lu Yao apologises. “I’ll… I’ll pay for the repairs. I know you liked this car a lot and I… I guess… I’m a bit rusty?”
“You almost hit an old man on the road, San Tu,” responds Chusheng wryly.
“I’m sorry,” Lu Yao repeats, inching closer. “Don’t be angry with me. Please? I’ll pay for the damages, or… or I’ll just get a new one for you. I mean, I’ll have to borrow the money from you first and then pay you back, but give me half a year and I can do it-“
Chusheng slips his arm around Lu Yao’s waist and drags him closer, and cuts the infuriating man off effectively by sliding his mouth across Lu Yao’s lips.
He doesn’t know how long he kisses Lu Yao for, all he knows is that he can’t get enough, and they only pull apart when people actually come over to check on them.
Chusheng can’t help feeling satisfied at Lu Yao’s very, very red and wet lips.
“Hey, you guys okay?” the old man who they nearly hit earlier asks, knocking at the window with his walking cane.
“We’ll continue this at home,” Chusheng says, eyeing Lu Yao.
===
At home, Lu Yao applies ointment to Chusheng’s very bruised elbow, and cannot help but press a kiss to the mottled skin. The last of Chusheng’s control snaps then, and he grabs Lu Yao’s arm, tossing him onto the bed behind them.
(Chusheng does order another car for his San Tu the next day. Something cheaper though, they’ll work their way up.)

Guardian: Hand-Picked (collab)

A/N: This is part of the Guardian collab with @this-song-thats-only-for-you and @goodnightkisseu. It was an impromptu idea from one of those MX games by your zodiac sign, so we went with who we got and created a story from it!

Tumblr media
Your life had been pleasant for the most part. You had grown up well enough, leaving your awkward teenage years behind you and blossoming into an adult. Sure, you sometimes missed the simplicity of being a child without adult pressures, but you were naturally responsible and thrived with a lot of the new chances you had as grown-up making your mark in the world.
You would go to work, enjoy hanging out with friends and exploring new places when you had the chance to. And when the day was over, you would return to your apartment, cook dinner and then snuggle up with a good movie or book before going to bed and starting it all over the next day. It hadn’t felt like you needed any change to this daily in and out lifestyle you lived. You were content with what you already had.
Meeting Yoo Kihyun, however, changed all of that. Having a boyfriend was a new experience. Going out was now with someone who would hold your hand and smile endlessly at you. He would feed you the most delicious meals and whisper the sweetest compliments. If you had ever dreamed of having someone in your life, you were sure you had wished for Kihyun. He was exactly who you could ever want in a partner.
And you had your guardian angel to thank for that.
“Don’t go out today,” Changkyun warned you explicitly as you walked back and forth from your small bathroom to your not much bigger bedroom preparing for the day ahead. He followed right behind you, tapping you on your shoulder and letting out whines, the next more outlandish than the last. “Y/N, don’t! It’s going to end badly.”
“What is? I’m perfectly fine now, am I not?”
He rolled his eyes. “Because you’re home with me.”
“I can’t imagine anything changing for the worse, Kyun. I’m just going to work like I usually do.”
“And I’m just telling you what I feel in my stomach. It’s my job to pre-warn you of ill-fated events, Y/N.”
You shot Changkyun a hard look. “Last month you told me the same. I stayed home and you realised halfway through the day it was just indigestion. Which, I cannot believe an angel can suffer from!”
“Okay, so I made one mistake--”
“And two months ago you told me I would be in trouble so I again stayed home and then realised it was because you were cold and wanted to snuggle up all day long!”
Sitting down on the edge of your bed so you could put on your socks, Changkyun knelt before you, placing his hands on both of your knees.
“--a lot of mistakes, then. This time, Y/N, I’m not using my abilities to benefit me. Stay home, please. I don’t feel good about this.”
Letting out a sigh, you patted one of his shoulders affectionately. “I’ll be fine. And I promise if I feel odd at any point, I’ll just turn around and come back home.”
“It doesn’t work that way, Y/N!” he exclaimed as you got up and brushed passed him, shrugging on your coat and stepping into your boots. Changkyun swiftly took place in front of the door shaking his head. “I’m being serious. Don’t go.”
“I didn’t work for an entire month on this presentation to miss it, Kyun. I’ll be home later.”
Stepping under his arm, you opened the door and started your trek through the rain to the subway.
From here, you knew fewer details. Changkyun had informed you that you had ended up walking across a road that a car had suddenly lost control on and careened around, hitting you right as a man pulled you to safety.
And that was how you had met Kihyun in the first place.
When you woke in the hospital, he had been at your side, immediately relieved to see you alert again. And all you had noticed was the gash on his cheek and a forlorn-looking Changkyun behind him.
He had sent Kihyun forward to save you at the last minute.
What Changkyun – or even you, admittedly – hadn’t been prepared for was how much of an impact Kihyun’s arrival in your life would make.
And now, you were packing up the last of your things and moving in with your boyfriend of a year.
Much to Changkyun’s disdain.
“How are we meant to still live together?” Changkyun wondered as you zipped your luggage bag full of your necessities shut. He shifted back and forth across the tiny space of your bedroom and threw his hands in the air. “This is not what we should be doing, Y/N.”
“You’ve seen Kihyun’s apartment, it’s double the size of this place. There will be plenty of room for us to still live together.”
“I’d rather live in this shoebox for the rest of your life. Or move somewhere bigger. Just the two of us.”
“On my salary?” you mentioned, raising an incredulous eyebrow at the angel. “Seriously?”
“So let’s just stay here. We’re cosy here.”
“I can’t expect Kihyun to move in here!” you replied with a giggle, lifting your luggage off the bed. “This place barely fits us!”
“Let’s not move in with him at all.”
“You sound like a petulant child, Changkyun,” you warned and he rolled his eyes dramatically.
“I don’t care. I like it being just you and me.”
“And I like Kihyun, a lot. So can’t you be a little accommodating with this change?”
His immature grunt ended the argument but the stormy mood followed you all the way over to your new home, a scoff leaving him when you stretched up to kiss Kihyun in greeting.
“Is this really happening?” your boyfriend breathed as he held you tightly. “I don’t have to wake up tomorrow and send you back home?”
“I wish you would,” the angel muttered, unbeknownst to Kihyun.
“Instead we get to wake up in each other’s arms every day,” you offered and Kihyun grinned, kissing you briefly before blinking really fast. You frowned. “What is it?”
“I turned up the thermostat earlier but it’s suddenly so cold in here! You’re not freezing, are you?”
Sending a glare to the angel now playing with the heating system, you then tried to smile at Kihyun. “It’s going to be fine together; I’m sure whatever it is will settle down soon.”
Tumblr media
Except, Changkyun didn’t settle any.
It was obvious that he was bitter and targeted Kihyun immaturely. And whenever your boyfriend wasn’t around, you were endlessly scolding him for his antics, telling him to stop being so rude to someone you cared about. You didn’t think you were being unreasonable, and considering Changkyun had sent Kihyun to your side, you had expected him to be relieved that you had someone he had handpicked.
Still, Kihyun was uncomfortable most days. “I had the worst sleep last night.”
“Did you? I slept so well,” you murmured, coming over to rub your partner’s shoulders gently. “Any reason why?”
“Something kept tickling my nose but every time I looked, there was nothing there!”
You narrowed your gaze on the angel eating toast across the room.
And when Kihyun went to take his shower, you rushed over and slapped the back of his head. “I swear to god, you are being so immature, Changkyun! Stop annoying Kihyun.”
“Maybe he’d have a better night’s rest sleeping in the guest room.”
“And why would he want to sleep there? Where would you then sleep?!”
“With you, like I used to.”
“Don’t be so ridic-”
“Y/N?” Kihyun called weakly, standing in the threshold and watching you in confusion. “What, or who are you talking to?”
“Uhhhhh.”
“Maybe I should show myself to your lover. You look insane right now,” Changkyun mused and you let out a small shriek before stomping off to the bedroom and slamming the door shut.
Even if a locked door could keep Kihyun out, it would be no match for an angel. However, you had become incredibly skilled in ignoring Changkyun when he annoyed you too much. And since he hated when you ignored him, it was as effective as a locked door was.
“Y/N, stop, come on! It’s me, Kyun! Don’t be so petty!”
You remained focused on the wall ahead of you.
“Fine, I’ll stop being so mean to him. I just don’t like Kihyun!”
“Why?” you asked and he breathed out in relief at finally garnering your attention.
“Because he’s, well he’s-”
“Because you think I pay him more attention than you, isn’t that right? You’re not used to sharing.”
The angel shrunk back, muttering under his breath and then nodded once.
“Kihyun thinks I’m absolutely insane now. You better help me fix this.”
“You have a what?” your boyfriend breathed once you had explained everything to him, staring at you with round eyes.
“Everyone has one,” you told him calmly. “Just some people aren’t aware of who they are. I had an incident when I was a kid where I fell out of a tree and Changkyun – my angel – was there when I woke up. Since then, he’s been with me every day.”
“Even when we’ve been dating?”
You nodded.
“And in the bedroom when we’re…?”
“Good god, I would never want to see that,” Changkyun retorted with a generous shudder as you shook your head repeatedly.
“No, but I lived with him before I met you and-”
“You lived with him?”
“As friends,” you reiterated and Changkyun nodded firmly. “Well, more like family. He’s a brother to me.”
“And he’s the reason we met that day?” You nodded to answer Kihyun’s question. “I always think about why I boldly stepped out that day as if I knew I had to. I didn’t even know what I was doing until it happened. And you’re saying some angel of yours made me?”
“Changkyun, show yourself, please,” you asked and with a sigh, Changkyun did whatever he had to make himself known to Kihyun.
And when he caught sight of him, Kihyun gasped noisily. “I know him!”
“You do?”
“I saw him right when I saved you.”
“Well, now he’s a believer,” Changkyun surmised disinterestedly, pointing to the kitchen. “Can dinner be started soon? I’m hungry.”
You took a deep breath, hoping that this was the right step forward to make both the most important men in your life live together with more ease.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t just Changkyun now. You stared back at Kihyun, trying to fathom what he had just said. Your boyfriend pointed harshly to the angel now taking refuge behind you. “Again?!”
“You forgot to set me a place at the table!”
“You do know how sensitive Changkyun is about food,” you agreed weakly and Kihyun scoffed.
“Still, he made the water run cold on me right as I got the shampoo in my hair! What are you? Four years old?”
“Try adding on centuries to that!”
“My head hurts,” you proclaimed, moving over to the couch before glaring at both men who followed. “Can’t you both just get along for one day?!”
“He started this!”
“And so that gives you enough reason to take it out on me like a baby?!”
“You’re both acting like children,” you told them and folded your arms across your chest. “This is exhausting.”
“He’s got to go, Y/N!”
“Me?!” Changkyun echoed and laughed bitterly. “I was here first, if anyone has to go, it’s you, lover boy!”
“Anyone would think you have a crush on my girlfriend! In case you’ve forgotten, Y/N sees you as a brother. And I’m not going anywhere!”
“You know what?” you offered, standing back up as both men reached for one another. “I’ll go!”
“What?”
“Where would you go?” Kihyun added as you stalked over to the front door, collecting your bag from the entryway shelf. “It’s cold out today.”
“I don’t think it’s wise to leave, Y/N.”
“Well, I don’t care what’s wise or cold. Right now, I want to escape the both of you! This is getting ridiculous and I want to get out of here before I snap! Do not follow me in any way or I’ll never come back!”
And then you slammed the door behind you and stormed out into the street.
For an hour or two, you simply wandered, allowing your sour mood to dissipate whilst you walked wherever your feet would take you. After three hours, you took refuge in a coffee shop, thanking the clerk for bringing you a warm beverage that melted away any remaining chill within you as you sipped at it. For another hour, you watched the people go by and after six hours away from home, you decided to have a meal before heading home. It was really late now, and for once, you felt a little out of your comfort zone. You were never out this late alone and it made your footsteps hurried until you saw the apartment building.
There, you slowed right down to a snail’s pace; concerning yourself with the possible scenarios you would find when you opened the front door. You knew Changkyun couldn’t be badly harmed, and angels were sworn not to physically harm another. Still, you worried they were still fighting away with each other, and you really didn’t have the energy to face that.
You prepared yourself to simply enter the house and sleep in the guest room alone tonight. Instead, when you walked through the door, you heard a loud gasp and combined movement towards you.
“Thank god, you’re safe.”
“Don’t ever leave us like that again, Y/N.”
“Don’t you know how worried we were?”
“We?” you repeated as both men smothered you in their arms, neither fighting for more of you than the other. “Who’s we?”
Kihyun pulled away and Changkyun stepped to his side. “We’ve called a truce.”
“We decided we had something in common.”
“You do?” you asked and both men nodded happily.
Changkyun smiled. “We both love you a lot. Of course, in our own ways.”
“And not having you in our lives – existences – is unbearable.”
“So don’t leave us ever again, okay?”
You tried to not smile too widely. “You mean it?”
“Plus, I like this house, and Kihyun’s food.”
“Changkyun’s like the little brother I never had,” Kihyun quipped.
“Well, does this mean I won’t hear fighting anymore?”
“Of course!”
“We’ll be on our best behaviour!”
“Good, because I can’t handle the best people in my life at odds with each other,” you concluded, hugging them both individually.
“You ate without us?” Changkyun suddenly accused after inhaling into the hug and Kihyun gaped at you.
“We were sick with worry and you ate?”
“Well, I got hungry and-”
“Don’t worry, Kyun, I’ll make us something delicious.”
“Good, and Y/N isn’t allowed any.”
“Of course not!”
You laughed and shook your head; at least they were getting along, which was what you had hoped for so long now.
Tumblr media
Life wasn’t as quiet as it once was. You’d still come out to find both of them bickering over something, but you just learned that it was how they were. Equally, they were the type to hold onto one another watching sad movies instead of you and even you had jealous moments when it came to their bromance.
But you were thankful. Not only had Kihyun saved you, but he had saved Changkyun too. You had lived far too long stuck in the same routine in the same small space that you hadn’t hoped for anything more than that.
Having chaos in your world meant you were always waiting to see what would happen next. And you realised that this suited you far better. You got to spend your days with your best friend and the love of your life. Sometimes that would be a blessing or a curse, but you knew you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Chapter 21: Donna

Rhys
Like fucking clockwork, I woke with the rising sun.
It took less than five minutes to peel out of my sheets and pull some clothes on. Two minutes to down the shot of espresso and munch through an apple in the kitchen. One minute to creep back up the stairs quietly and open that door, just the tiniest slit—
Her figure was slumped to the side, arm dangling off the ledge of the bed. But I could see it, that steady up and down of her chest. Alive. Breathing. Peaceful.
Striking.
It was the only confirmation I needed before peeling back down the stairs and throwing on a pair of sneakers. As the pink clouds began to fade, my feet slammed against the pavement. The sun was still a blip on the horizon, Prythian wiping away the night’s remaining darkness, and with each song drowning out the noise in my ears more cars began to appear on the road as the rest of the city awoke. Soon enough, I was washed in the rays of sunshine. Sweat soaked through my thin long-sleeve, but I didn’t care. I just kept pushing.
It’d been three weeks since I ran. But this morning, I felt wired. Like my mind hadn’t turned off last night in its slumber. How could it? Not after what happened yesterday. Not after what Feyre told me last night.
I’d never felt anything like it before. It was a physical, throbbing ache in my chest, like my heart had truly cleaved in half and spilled all its venomous ichor into my body.
For some reason, it was worse than watching her perched on the ledge of the roof. Knowing that she’d been so miserable, for far longer than I could’ve imagined—
It struck something within me. Like a pianist crescendoing to the climax of a song only to play the wrong chord.
And I had no idea how to help her.
That’s what scared me the most out of all of this—despite my best efforts, Feyre’s condition was beyond my abilities. I’d done all I could out of my own personal experience to try and assuage the difficulties she’d experienced in the last three weeks, but this…
Last night, I felt completely and utterly useless. That was the worst part, I thought, about seeing someone you care about struggle with mental health issues—knowing that there is very little you can do to help. All I had were my words, carefully chosen to goad her into speaking as much as she comfortably would, and gentle enough to tell her that I was there for her, that I would support her. But all I wanted to do, all my instincts roared at me to do, was hold her. Hug her against me. Tell her that I was there, that I cared about her.
Those feelings pounding within my heart flared up again, and my foot faltered on its next step.
I stopped in my tracks. The rap music was still blaring in my ears. I ripped my earphones out, letting them dangle along my neck, and strode over to a nearby bench as I tried to shove some air into my lungs.
Fuck, I thought, I’m so out of shape.
My fingers were already dashing across the screen. Plenty of articles came up after the search, and I scrolled through them, taking screenshots of things that caught my eye. If I didn’t know how to help her, the least I could do was arm myself with some information. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a starting point.
When the steely pincers of anxiety finally unclamped themselves from my fried nerves, I was off again. There were so many other pieces of the story that seemed to root themselves in my mind, no matter how fast or hard I pushed my body, they never seemed to shake away.
I was in a car accident two years ago.
I killed someone.
It couldn’t have been her. No, I refused to hold onto that piece of illogical information my brain was trying to latch itself to. So I blasted my music up higher, and kept running.
***
Feyre
The only thing I knew how to cook was scrambled eggs.
Dad taught me how. When I was in high school, usually Elain made breakfast so I could have something in the mornings, but no one ever made me lunch. I relied on the lunch service the school provided for the ‘less fortunate’—but I couldn’t use it too often. No, if I went there every day, then the school got suspicious and started asking questions I wasn’t ready to answer. So, once or twice a week I’d go to the Home Ec room and take the cheese sandwich, apple and juice box—it was better than nothing. The counsellor would smile at me, I’d fake a story about sleeping in, missing the bus, anything but the truth that gnawed at the back of my mind.
We didn’t have money. We lived in a shitty two bedroom condo, bought with the remnants of money my dad had after mom died, and could barely pay for weekly groceries. Utilities, other household bills, dad paid when he was sober enough to read. But groceries came out of my pocket and the penance of a salary I earned as an administrative aid at school. It was only an hour or two after school, and it paid alright, but all the money went towards food.
My sisters didn’t bat an eye at the effort. They kept on their usual business, attending college on their scholarships. I sure as hell wasn’t smart enough to get a scholarship, but the financial aid department took one look at my level of income and offered to pay a hefty percentage, while the rest was covered by student loans. I thought I’d have to work those off for years.
Until he came along and paid them without even batting an eye. That, and any other outstanding debt my sisters or father had. And, and—I couldn’t leave out the wondrous house he’d bought on the other side of the city. The one we’d both helped my father move the boxes to, the one Nesta and Elain had definitely never visited after they’d moved out.
I couldn’t help but think about my dad. I wondered what he was doing right now, across the city, by himself. And the first thing that came to my mind was the bottle of whiskey sitting on the floor by his chair. He was always slumped in that chair with a faraway smile on his face. Sometimes I would sit next to him on the second hand couch and we’d watch TV together. Most of the time, I’d take one look at him and storm off to my room to imagine another life where none of it happened. Where mom didn’t die, where we weren’t flat broke, and I wasn’t miserable.
How I’d gone from the two bedroom condo to this townhouse, I didn’t want to think about. All I knew was that I’d never have to go back there again.
Because of him.
The front door opened and closed quietly, shaking me from my thoughts. I focused once again on my eggs, dividing both of them into two plates before setting four slices of bread in the toaster. When the footsteps got closer, I turned and saw Rhys there, sweat dripping down his face, rap musing blaring from his earphones. He hadn’t spotted me yet in the kitchen, his eyes on his phone. From where I stood between the stove and the kitchen island, I had a clear view of his hand reaching down to clutch his t-shirt and pull it over his head in one swift movement, ripping the earphones away as well.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t stare at his chest. Defined and smooth, pure muscle was glistening in the light from the bay windows at the front of the living room. His stomach was hardened, toned yet still soft where the tan skin heaved from his panting. And on his chest, down his biceps—
Tattoos. Beautiful, midnight blue tattoos swirling down his skin in inky swirls, contrasting his tanner colouring. I’d seen them, a peek of them that night at Rita’s, but glancing at them now, I couldn’t help but appreciate the craftsmanship behind such beauty. Art in all forms were difficult to master—but when your canvas was human flesh, it made it all the more impressive.
And on him, it looked breathtaking.
“Something smells burnt,” he smirked at me, wiping the sweat on his face with his t-shirt.
I gasped, jumping out of my stupor as I turned to the toaster. Of course, the four slices staring back at me were black. Burnt to a mother-fucking crisp.
I sighed. Of course out of the two components of this meal, I’d burn the most idiot-proof one. At least I had a reasonable excuse for it standing in the living room.
“Like what you see, darling?” Rhys called as he clambered up the stairs.
“Oh, go jump in the shower. I could smell you from down the block.”
I stared angrily down my plate as I shovelled the eggs into my mouth. The new round of toast was grilling, the toaster on a much lower setting this time, and it popped up by the time Rhys’s footsteps hit the ground level once again. How he’d managed to pull himself together so quickly—tux, gelled hair and shaven face, I had no clue, but I’d be lying to myself if I said he didn’t look immaculate. Nonetheless, I tried my best to ignore his presence after that spout before.
He grinned as he took me in sitting at the counter.
“Don’t give me that look.”
His brows shot up, but that playful, mischievous glint in his eyes remained. “What look?”
“Like a cat just caught a fucking mouse. I have half a mind to dump your breakfast in the garbage.”
“At least it’ll keep that pitiful toast you chucked away from getting lonely.” Nonetheless, he took the four slices from the toaster, deposited two of them on my plate, and dug into his meal perched on the edge of the counter.
“There’s no need to deny that you find me attractive, Feyre. Just try not to ogle me so openly next time. It was very objectifying, to be quite honest.”
My cheeks heated, and I said around my mouthful of buttery bread, “Just when I thought your level self-esteem couldn’t get any higher. You’ll probably be replaying that moment in your mind all day.”
“Got a busy day, darling. Meetings in the morning at the office and a very important lunch date that I simply cannot miss. But I will try to squeeze in some daydreaming.” He pointed at me with his fork, his plate already scraped clean despite starting after me.  “Cassian’s coming by to hang out with you after.”
I rolled my eyes. “A babysitter? Seriously?”
Rhys looked over his shoulder from where he stood perching a travel mug beneath this spout of his Nespresso machine. “Not a babysitter, Feyre. A friend. Some company. Someone other than me to talk to.”
“Sending Cassian is like sending a carbon copy of yourself but with more muscle.”
“Firstly, he misses you and wanted to spend some time together. And secondly, ouch. You ogle me, then you insult me?” He twisted the cap onto his mug and fished his keys out of the dish by the edge of the counter, making his way towards the door.
“I’ll make sure to tell the chef to poison you today at lunch!” I called down the townhouse’s main corridor.
“And I’ll tell Cassian you’ve been dying to try his new CrossFit exercises!”
I rolled my eyes, but smiled to myself nonetheless after the door shut quietly behind him.
As I gathered the dishes to be washed in the sink, my mind wandered to last night. The two of us hunched in that tub speaking quietly to each other, me unveiling the darkest thoughts curled into the back of my mind.
I’d never said those words out loud before. With him, we just ignored that it was there in the first place. Lucien and Ianthe only found out because of that one incident at a charity dinner, when Ianthe picked a dress for me without thinking twice about it, and my scars were on display for anyone who got within five feet of me. I outright refused to show up to the stupid thing, but everyone insisted I made an appearance. Once Tamlin saw why, he made an excuse. Those who asked him—because it was impolite to ask me to my face—believed they were scars from the accident.
We all knew it was a lie. Lucien tried talking about it a few times with me, but I pushed him away. How the hell was I supposed to explain that I got so furious with my own mind that I intentionally hurt myself? Every time I tried, there was this burning sensation within my chest. Shame. Shame and crushing embarrassment.
But last night seemed so…easy. I didn’t know what it was about Rhys. I just always felt the need to tell him the truth. Whether it was because he’d seen me at my worst, or because he seemed to understand me like nobody else ever had. It was so…weird. To have somebody to listen to you after so long spent trapped in the silence.
Weird, and absolutely terrifying.
But there was also that festering guilt, and shame—immense shame, for those few moments when I looked at him in the living room. When I… enjoyed looking at him.
When I enjoyed our quiet dinner together last night.
I shook my head as I scrubbed the plate, the memory dissolving in my mind.
***
After Cassian treated me to a gruelling workout at his gym, I found myself back at the house, showered and prepped for Rhys and I’s lunch. Cassian had lingered downstairs to drive me over because Rhys was still caught up in a meeting.
“Shouldn’t you be at work?” I wondered as Cassian and I weaved through streets downtown. Today the city was bright, ripe with activity and flurries of people. The air was slowly getting warmer. Soon I wouldn’t have to wear a jacket anymore.
“I’ve worked enough over the past two months to take a day off every now and then. Plus, I don’t think my boss cares too much,” Cassian said with a wink.
True. It was a constant reminder that though these people were his family, he technically pulled rank over them at work, with the investigation. But when they were just together, hanging out, it completely slipped my mind.
“Are the rest of them at the office, then?”
“Azriel’s pretty much stuck to his computer monitoring any possible anomalies in Hybern’s movements. He’s got someone following him just to be safe, but so far nothing much has happened. Amren’s combing through old files and investigations affiliated with him to see if she can catch anything and researching possible loopholes to prevent him from making the sale for that land. ” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Mor’s just trying to keep calm in the building and helping Rhys out as much as she can, but things are starting to get a little chaotic.”
“How do you guys do it all?” I asked, eyes trailing upon the buildings, which seemed to get smaller and smaller as we neared the outskirts of the city.
He shrugged and said, “We’re fighting together for something we all believe in. You don’t really need much else.”
I looked over at Cassian, his hands gripping the wheel, his face passive and calm as he slowed the car to a stop before a red light. I said, “It’s nice that you all found each other. That you all have each other.”
“And now you’ve got us as well, Archeron. And we’ve got you.”
My eyes burned as I looked out the window once more.
***
I looked up to the restaurant’s blue sign. Sevenda’s.
No other buildings stood nearby. We were about fifteen minutes out of town, and Cassian had already turned back to Prythian. I was left standing here in the parking lot, clad in my best black knee length dress, staring at a diner.
Before I could take another step, the front door opened, and there was his smiling face.
“Are you just going to stand there or are you going to come in?”
“We’ll each have your special with some bannock on the side please,” Rhys said without even glancing at the menu. I shifted in the black leather booth, gazing between him and the middle aged, brown skinned woman before us. Her stark black hair was tied back in a braid that fell down past her waist line, nearly catching on the stained apron lining her body.
“It’s been too long, Rhysand. I almost didn’t recognize you when you walked in.” She reached over and ruffled his hair, as though he weren’t the CEO of a major Prythian powerhouse corporation. Her smile was warm and teasing, her dark eyes crinkling at the corners.
Rhys rolled his eyes but smiled anyway. “You’re embarrassing me in front of a business partner, Sevenda.”
“What? She’s not your date?”
My cheeks heated. I took a sip of my water, watching Rhys expectantly, wondering how this entire debacle was going to go.
“A potential employee,” he corrected her smoothly, shooting a glance my way. “Feyre keeps declining my advances, unfortunately.”
“I’ll go on a date with you the day you wear something besides black or navy.” I said, jutting my chin out at the dark suit he wore. He must’ve had hundreds of them in his closet.
“That’s my girl. Don’t be afraid to put this boy in his place, Gods know he needs it.” Sevenda turned towards the kitchen.
“Believe me, she does.” Rhys smirked as our gazes met. His eyes shifted over me appreciatively. “Did I mention you look exquisite today Feyre?”
I replied with an eye roll, “That’s the third time you’ve told me in ten minutes.”
“Just making sure you know how delicious you look in that dress.”
“Do you have any sense of self-control?”
“Of course, but it tends to fade away when a beautiful woman looks at me like that.” He tilted his head towards me and the snarl that lined my lips.
“Be glad I’m not your employee yet, I think I’d have to file a sexual harassment claim.”
“Yet?” Rhys’s eyes glinted.
“Well, if you’d get on with your proposition, I could finally make up my mind.”
He cleared his throat. “Night Industries would like to offer you a temporary full-time position as a secretary for yours truly.” I watched as he carefully took a sip of his water, his eyes trained on me the entire time. “Mor usually does a lot of that work for me, but I need her focus on the Hybern investigation right now, and I’m spread out too thin at the moment to try and look for candidates that I know and trust to do the job well. You have some experience in an office. You’ve worked in a cafe for a year now and you know what working under pressure is like. I need that kind of person right now on my team.”
Just as he opened his mouth again, Sevenda burst from the back of the restaurant with a tray perched on her shoulder holding steaming food. Immediately, a rich, aromatic scent filled the quiet space, and my mouth watered.
Swiftly, as though she’d done this for years, Sevenda slid two plates on the table filled half with rice, half with an orange, creamy stew that made my stomach gargle. She set down two extra plates with what seemed like two round flat buns that were golden and crispy.
“Enjoy!” She chirped after refilling our glasses.
I didn’t hesitate as I took my first mouthful. Creamy, warm, sweet, salty—spicy. Not overly so, but just enough for my mouth to heat. The meat was gamey, and the vegetables tasted glorious in the saturated juices.
“Why is there nobody in this restaurant?” I demanded after swallowing my first bite.
Rhys said, “Well, we’re near the reserve. They mostly only have local regulars and travellers passing through."
I shook my head. “But this is delicious.”
Rhys was beaming. He took one of his flatbreads, bannock I was guessing, and dipped it into the stew. I did so as well, and nearly groaned at the delightful taste.
Rhys said after swallowing, “I’ve been coming here since I was a child. Restaurants like this don’t really exist in Prythian, and I sure as hell don’t know how to cook this well.”
After another bite, I added quietly, “Thank you for bringing me here.”
He only watched me with that intent stare of his, then wondered, “What do you think of my proposal?”
My fork paused halfway down to the plate. “My office experience was limited, and most probably completely different from what working with you will be like.” My lips parted to add something else, And I don’t know if I can handle the humiliation of learning simple tasks. Not quite able to meet his gaze, I said instead, “I need to know that you’ll be patient with my learning process.”
“Your first twenty hours of work will be purely training, and should you ever have questions, you never hesitate to ask. We’re a team. We all help each other out.”
“Okay.” I made a gesture in my hand, and he took it as the cue to carry on.
“Your baseline job is mainly answering phone calls and emails, manning the elevator, scheduling appointments and running other errands for me should I need them. I’ll also probably have other projects on the side concerning the Hybern investigation, like the meeting we’ve got set with the Bone Carver, but those are optional. I understand you may be uncomfortable with those.”
He looked up to me for confirmation, but I said nothing. We were both quiet for a few minutes as we ate our meal, and finally Rhys wiped his mouth with a napkin, took a sip of his water, and laid both of his palms flat on the table.
“It’s a nine to five job. It’s not necessarily difficult work, but it’s still good work. Something to get you back on your feet. I’m offering it as temporary, but say the word, and we’ll sign you on for good.” He reached into his leather messenger bag and pulled out a leather portfolio case, then slid it over to me. I tentatively opened it up, eyes darting across the document before me.
“Take the time to read it if you want. It’s legal jargon, but believe me, you’re the last person I’d screw over with fine print bullshit.”
But I wasn’t hearing him, because my eyes had trailed down to the number listed at the top of the second paragraph. It was difficult to keep my jaw from dropping to the floor.
150 000$ starting salary.
“I can’t accept that.”
He sighed. “I knew you would say that.”
I’d never seen a sum like that in my life, nevertheless in my name.
“Rhys,” I said, “it’s too much.”
“I am paying you in accordance of your work responsibilities, as well as the confidentiality of the information you’re handling. You’ll have control of files and information that could put me under should anything be leaked or spread to the mainstream media. It’s a lot to expect of someone.”
I couldn’t say anything. I could just stare at that contract, unable to meet the eyes of the man who’d veritably given me a new life. No strings attached.
Just out of the pure kindness of his heart. A friend looking out for a friend.
There was that part of the back of my mind that was blaring, this is a red flag. This is him all over again.
But he never offered me the anything. He never gave me time, or space, or options, or a way out. He dictated our lives. He had it all laid out for the two of us, the way he wanted it, whether I liked it or not.
Rhys was giving me a choice. One that I could deny, and continue living under his roof until Gods-know when I got another job, and feel like a pathetic, miserable leech.
Or I could accept his kindness. I could use this as an opportunity. Maybe not permanent—maybe work that would dress up my CV. A stepping stone.
I didn’t know what was next, what else the universe had in store for me. But I knew that this job came with a team, my friends, and as Cassian told me earlier in that car, a purpose. I was lacking that, these days.
So I finally looked Rhys straight in the eyes and said, “Do you have a pen?”

HI! I see you write for One Punch Man. Could I please request an anniversary date with Tatsumaki? If you don't write for her, maybe Fubuki? Thank you!
Anon, let me say, I’m so sorry I made you wait for as long as I did. I had the plot all decked out, I knew how I wanted to do this aNd YeT, it took me like three months anyways. Because I felt bad, you also now get to flat out have Tatsumaki propose to you too. I hope this was to your liking, I did my best to keep it gender neutral just in case. Enjoy!
——————————————————————————————-
Tatsumaki x Reader “A Perfect Night”
Tap, tap, tap
“Tatsu! Right on time,” You giggled as you opened the door. Your mint green girlfriend merely huffed and looked the other way.
“Of course I am, I’m not about to be late to our anniversary.” She stated cooly, but you could see the hint of a blush on her face. “And I thought I told you to stop calling me that!”
You couldn’t help but giggle at her flustered state. “It’s not my fault that it’s a cute nickname,” You sung and grabbed her hand. The action caused her to look back at you and her face softened.
Tatsumaki was never sure how you were able to do it, but even if she was in the most foul mood, as long as you grabbed her hand or kissed her cheek all of her anger would melt away. A small smile broke out on her face as she slipped a stray hair out of your face. “It’s only cute when it comes out of your mouth. Now come on, can’t be late for our dinner reservation.” The woman led you over to a limousine and you felt your jaw drop to the floor.
“Wait a second, we’re going in that? How much did that cost,” You exclaimed. The car was sleek and black, there wasn’t even a speck of dust on it.
A smug expression settled on your girlfriend’s face as she helped the both of you into the backseat. “(Y/N), I am the number two hero, that comes with a very pretty salary.” She stated before instructing the chauffeur to start driving, a pleased smile on her face.
However, her pleased mood didn’t last long.
The car started rolling before stopping abruptly, the engine coughing and spluttering. Quirking an eyebrow, she got out of the limo with the chauffeur to check it but it billowed out smoke. She was astonished. “What? No, this has to be perfect, dumb car!” She growled, summoning a rock and tossing it at one of the tires. “It’s fine, I can make this work… Call a tow truck, have them take it to the shop,” Tatsumaki ordered.
Once satisfied with her workers agreement she opened the door on your side. You let out a concerned chuckle. “Everything alright up at the front?” You asked to which your girlfriend shook her head.
“Well, no. The stupid engine broke down. But I’ve got a better idea anyway. Take my hand.” She tells you, waiting expectantly.
You take it with an excited grin and just like that you see a familiar green outlining your bodies and lifting you both in the air. Tatsumaki let out a small chuckle seeing the stars in your eyes. “I told you I had a better idea,” She smirks.
“Way better! This is awesome,” You laughed, watching the people on the ground grow smaller. “You know I wouldn’t mind one bit if this was our regular mode of transportation.”
The green haired woman rolls her eyes. “Keep dreaming, dummy. I’m not always going to abuse my powers like this for you.” You merely shrugged at her words, looking all around as you flew through the city.
It wasn’t long before you reached the restaurant and got yourselves settled. After ordering food, you went on a ramble about your day while Tatsumaki listened. Though she’d never fully admit it, she liked hearing you ramble like this. It was endearing that you felt comfortable sharing so much about your day with her. It was also relaxing, your voice always sounded so pleasant, and your sometimes ridiculous phrasing always had her snorting with laughter.
Just as you were getting to the middle of your story, the waiter came back with your food. Just as she was about to dig in, she noticed the faded smile on your face and she paused. “What’s wrong?” She asked and you shrugged.
“It’s nothing, they just put tomatoes on my food when I asked for none cause of my allergy…” You trailed off. Tatsumaki frowned and stood up in response, lifting up your plate of food.
“Then, I’ll be right back.” Before you could stop her, she had already disappeared into the kitchen. Damn it, this night was supposed to be perfect and yet here were these moronic chefs trying to kill her date! She smacked the plate on an empty spot on the counter and cast her stormy gaze out to the workers. “I don’t know which one of you idiots thought this was a good idea but you’re going to remake it immediately without a single tomato on it, do you hear me?” She shouted, bowls and ingredients whirling around the kitchen in her anger.
They all nodded, terrified of what she would do otherwise, and she huffed before slamming her way out of the kitchen and back to her seat.
Your embarrassed expression was waiting for her when she got back. You tugged on her sleeve, feeling the tips of your ears burn. “You didn’t have to make a scene! I could have just had the waiter take it back…” You whispered, ducking your head from any stares.
Tatsumaki scoffed in response. “No, that was completely unacceptable. You told them no tomatoes because of your allergy and they were idiotic enough to do it anyway. That cannot and will not be tolerated.” You merely whined and tried to swallow down your embarrassment.
The waiter came back, your dish with no tomatoes and the green haired woman smiled. Good, everything could go back to being perfect.
The dinner continued, with excellent food, before you both split the check as you wouldn’t let Tatsumaki pay for so much. Then you left, getting your dessert at a nearby sweets shop where you both got candy apples and took a stroll around a nearby park. Tatsumaki couldn’t help but smile. There were some bumps in the road but they still got to where she wanted to be. You caught her smile and took her hand. “What are you smiling about?” You inquired with a grin of your own.
Your girlfriend looked back up at you. “Not much, this was just a good night. But, I was hoping to make it better if I could ask you something?” She now avoided your gaze, feeling her face start to redden.
Curious, you nodded. But just as she was about to speak, her phone rang.
Tatsumaki growled as she fished out her phone. “Give me a second, it’s work.” She sighed, stepping away from you before answering the phone. “What do you want? I requested this night off for a reason!” She practically snarled.
“I’m aware, but there’s a villain in your area, and it needs to be-”
“Get someone else on it, there are loads of other heroes out that are, you know, on the job!”
“Tatsumaki, please this is very important.”
“I don’t care. Respect that this is the one time I’ve requested to be off duty,” She seethed. However, before she could hear another response, she was cut off by a scream.
Specifically, your scream.
Her eyes darted to where you were, on the ground having barely missed a boulder being thrown your way by a monstrous sized rat. She hung up the phone and stood in front of you protectively. “Get going, you rodent!” Tatsumaki antagonized, but the rat monster laughed, deep and mocking.
“I will not allow some little girl to tell me what to do.” He bellowed. The hero’s eye twitched.
She was only 90% pissed before, but that comment drove her all the way to 100.
She used her ESP to launch the boulder he had previously tossed at you straight into his stomach, sending him flying. She followed quickly after, pelting him with whatever she could find. When there was nothing round, she picked up a street sign and rooted it through his leg back into the ground. “First things first, I am not a little girl.” She bashed his head with another rock. “Second of all, you are ruining the night I had planned. I have been waiting to ask (Y/N) to marry me for a year, and yet you turn up and destroyed it all! You absolute bastard, die!” She screamed, unearthing anything she could to break the monster apart.
By the time her rage fell apart, the rat was nothing more than mangled muscle and blood. She huffed before floating her way back to you, checking you over for any injuries. When you turned up with nothing, she sighed and laid her head on you. Confused, you looked down. “Tatsu, are you okay?” You asked, even more concerned when you felt a wetness on your clothes.
“No, I’m not. This night was supposed to be perfect, but it all got ruined. Was it too much to ask for one even nice night? This was horrible…” Her arms wrapped around you tighter and you felt sadness stab at your heart as you returned the hug.
“Hon, I know you wanted tonight to be perfect. But it really wasn’t that bad. So what, the limo broke down, or food troubles, or a villain appearing. Either way, I got to spend time with you, I got to see you smile and that’s all that really matters. This was still a great anniversary to me.” You reply, gently rubbing her back.
She didn’t say anything for a moment before she pulled back and wiped at her eyes. “I don’t know how, but you always know what to say to make me feel better. Ugh, I don’t even deserve to ask you to marry me,” She breathed out. Then she took a pause, realizing what she said and proceeded to hide her face in her hands. “No, this wasn’t even supposed to come out like this! Damn it!” The green haired woman continued cursing herself before you grabbed her hands and pulled them from her face.
“You, you were going to ask me to marry you?” You stammered, trying to process it, a grin stretched out across your face when you saw her nod.
“Look I get it, I’m not ideal-”
“Yes.”
“What?”
“I said yes, Tatsu. I will absolutely marry you!” You beamed, getting even more excited when she slipped the ring she had bought you onto your finger. The rest of the night was spent with you being as gushy as could be and Tatsumaki waving you off with a blush on her cheeks.
Maybe the night was perfect after all.

Car wreck....Why is his insurance calling me? Can someone please clear this up?
So Friday morning, my fiance' and I were headed to New Jersey to visit his family for Christmas. On the way there, I was driving his truck so he could sleep a little before we switched places. Early morning when we were in Virginia, I pulled off the highway to go to a McDonalds to get some coffee. When I pulled off, it was a weird exit and I had no clue where I was going. I stopped at a red light, which had another light very close behind it which turned green, my idiot self was looking at that light for some reason while our light was still red...I hit the gas and then slammed on my breaks realizing what I was doing but it was too late and I hit a guy on the side of the door. It wasn't a big wreck. The guy didn't fly across the intersection. He didn't even move, his door was just dented and it will definitely need to be replaced but the man said he was not hurt at all. The truck we were driving in barely had damage, just a little dent in the hood that was very small to the eye and a bent license plate. We were in much better shape; but again, he was not in pain and his door was the only thing that seemed to be damaged. ANYWAYS, I received a traffic ticket for failing to obey a traffic light which I totally accept because this was extremely stupid of me and I am planning on mailing the fine to the court. So since I was driving my fiance's car, which is under his parents insurance, I assume my insurance is not affected. The trooper just told us that the other guy's insurance will contact my fiance's insurance. So I am thinking all I have to do is just pay this awful fine. Well my fiance' called me this morning and said that Statefarm (the other guy's insurance) called him asking for my number. Why would the other guy's insurance need to contact me if my fiance's parent's insurance are the ones who insure the truck? I just want to know what's to come when they call me. I don't know much of anything about insurance. I just want to know why the other guy's insurance would contact me when, yes, I caused the accident but my fiance's father is the insurance holder of the car that was wrecked. Thanks!""

Why did my car insurance get higher?
My car insurance is going up over $100 per 6 months *shocked face* I am curious. Is car insurance in general getting much higher? Or would this increase be due to a wreck I had in January? I spent over a month calling around - they had the best offer for me last year. But now I guess it's time to see what else is out there.""

Does anyone know anything about insurance?
just brought a car but im not insured on it yet as i only have a provisional license. Ive got my test the end of this month and this will sound cocky but i ave a feeling i will pass it ok. But if i get insurance now with a provisional license and pay it in installments, if and when i pass my test, Do people usualy have to pay the following 11 months of provisional insurance (at a higher cost) instead of the full license cost, do you get me? kinda confusing..but if you know anything about it from your own experience or something, wil you tell me what insurance people you r with so i can check them out..i live in ireland by the way so dont tell me about english companies please :) like eg.. my insurance is 1500e, i pay say 30e a week or something on a provisional license. opposed to: my insurance is 800e, i pay just 20e a week or something on a full license.. Do i still have to finish paying 1500e instead of 800e? i cant explain it anymore sorry if it not clear..? thanks x""

How to obtain depreciation from insurance company?
I had a roof claim at the end of the year for $45K. Ultimately the roof failed and damaged the interior of the home as well. The insurance company sent an initial check for $38K, and there is $7K in depreciation as a hold back. Once the work was completed I sent the insurance company a final invoice from the contractor for $44K. The invoice listed all of the work done and a grand total. The adjust is asking for line item detail around the charges. My contractor is telling me this is a ridiculous request and won't provide. So now I am sitting here with an adjuster who won't budge on their stance and a contractor who won't help. Are there any hard and fast rules on how to obtain the depreciation funds. In the couple of claims prior to this over the years, all I had to turn in was a generic invoice. I am at a loss and need to get those funds to close this deal out. I have full replacement value.""
Can a car insurance company make up points on your license?
So in early march my apartment was raided for pot, and a 1/2 gram was found. I was convicted of possession of marijuana and as part of Michigan's driving laws even if the incident did not occur in a car your license is restricted for 6 months. Yesterday my mother (the insurance for the whole family is in her name) received a notice that i had 8 points on my license and my insurance rates would be raised. Confused about this i went to Sec of State and in fact found out that i have no points. I called Memic and explained this to them, they informed me that they do not use actual points, they use their system of points. For example OUID is a 6 point offense but they count it as 8 points. Passing a stopped school bus (which as far as i can tell is no points) they view as 8 points. My question is, can they do this? We are switching insurances next month due to cheaper rates but this seems like a shady business practice to me. Thanks for ur time!!! -Pat""

New Brunswick Motorcycle Insurance is based on...?
I will be moving to NB this summer (from BC), and was wondering how the insurance rates out there are determined. Here in BC there are a number of insurance brackets (based on displacement) which determine the base rate. All bikes in any one bracket pay the same, so a 600cc sportbike is cheaper than a 883 Sportster (these are only for liability, theft and collision are based more on $$ value). In general, is it the same in NB? Would I save money by going to a smaller bike (I currently ride a 1127cc Suzuki GSX1100G), assuming the actual $$ value of the bike was about the same? Does the type of bike matter? I'd ask an insurance agent, but they are usually pretty reticent to explain how their rates are determined. Hope you can help.""
