might just be me but i think TTPD is absolutely a masterpiece in and of itself. i love how chaotic it is and how cathartic it feels it's just exactly how some others have been describing it, just like journal entries come to life regardless of how cringe or crazy or wild the emotions are cz that's just how life is and it's even more insane for taylor i'm sure cz like

not gonna lie if even 1/4 of what she has to go through---if that happened to me (the shitstorm from the public and constant stalking of tabloids and stupid presumptions all over social media hounding you 24/7 and forever being paranoid about safety and security) i'd have to be held back before i start swinging my scythe and throwing molotov cocktails 🔥

oh i agree!! it’s very raw and chaotic which is what makes it so cathartic. it’s funny because i have seen people say they think she could have used an editor/edited more, but to me the feeling of not having an editor is exactly the point. it’s about the messiness of that moment and of that emotional reality. and that comes with its fair share of cringe and craziness and ugliness and imperfections. and taylor is not the exception to that. she could have made the album more palatable but she decided against that. she understands/considers (or seems to understand/consider) that every tiny piece of an experience, not just the curated part, holds inherent value, even when its flawed (or maybe especially when it’s flawed). it’s very fascinating to see the range of reactions to ttpd and how some people appreciate it for the same aspects that make other people dislike it. i honestly get why the album isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. and it doesn’t have to be. it doesn’t try to be. it’s very much an anthology in that sense. a collection of more or less related vignettes put together for a specific kind of intended reader (like lots of artistic works). a way to get glimpses into many different things without trying to tell one definite story but many stories that can add up to more but don’t have to. idk i like it, and with every listen i like it a little more.
