In full disclosure, I haven't seen MOTA yet (seeing all of your recent posts is pushing it higher up my list!! Especially since I love BoB so much) - but what are your thoughts/HCs for Crosby and/or Rosie for (and apologies if these are already addressed... otherwise just have fun with what you want 😊):
Favorite holiday? Any traditions that they particularly enjoy and/or will miss? Would they enjoy or hate each other's traditions?
Who writes the better letters?
Does one enjoy going to the movies more than the other? Would they enjoy the same types of films or debate who's better (Bogart or Grant or other)
Favorite desserts? Once the war is over and rationing ends, will one of them eat their weight in chocolate cake or cherry pie or other?
Take care, Bee!
Tumblr media
Holiday:
crosby is a Christmas guy. Grew up in a house in the Midwest who's mom baked cookies and treats especially at Christmas. He loves the lights and the decorations and the excuse to kiss his loves more under the mistletoe.
Rosie likes Purim a lot, the costumes and games and parties. (Take this with a grain of salt because I am not well educated on Jewish holidays, but I know I heard that Purim is one of the more fun holidays)
They enjoy participating in each other's traditions and holidays. I think during the war the whole point of the fight was to prevent evil and promote the ideas behind the beauty of cultures and peoples and traditions.
Letters: I dont think I could really pick one above the other? They are both obviously very talented with their words. Rosie reads like crazy, and Crosby becomes a lit professor or something. Language is important and special for them.
Films:
Oh rosie is a cinephile 110% he will go see every new movie in the theater. In fact it becomes him that other lawyers and employees at his firm go to for movie recommendations. That being said, he prefers comedies to anything else that's too dramatic. Like he will 100% go see a movie he won't enjoy for the sake of not being a quitter and seeing things through. And he can say he's seen everything once.
Crosby will go to the theater if the film sounds good. I take him the type to love all sorts of movies - comedies, romance, drama, historic. He gets teased by his wife and rosie for when he tears up at the sad and romantic parts - but don't worry it's a cute teasing to get him to blush those precious pinks
Films 1.5 - rosie thinks crosby does awful impressions but he humors him because they are in love
Dessert:
Is it too on the nose to say rosie likes cheesecake? 😆 I get the vibe rosie has weird taste in sweets. He will eat the ones he ma makes and say they are wonderful, but I don't think he'd be into sweets in general. I think he would love dark chocolate tho 🤔
Croz loves a warm, gooey butter cake (if you haven't had one you're missing out btw) his mom made it, and taught the Missus how to make it. So the night he shipped out his wife bid him a farewell with the taste of butter cake on her lips. He began to crave it during the war and would brag about "gosh you should taste my wife's butter cake - it would send you straight through the clouds boys". It's definitely croz that eats his weight in stuff. He's working on his dad bod lol

hi :)) if your asks are still open: most random mota ship + hcs (if you want, ofc)
i mean, honestly, I shipped Rosie and Ken because they both needed a hug and seemed like sweethearts who could hug each other and am now 86,533 words into my first longfic in years (here's the first 10k). And I love a good random ship. So, let's go:
Bucky/Harry: confident nerd bags that cocky jock but is still a nerd who is way into his own head; lucky him, that cocky jock boyfriend gives mind-melting blowjobs.
Jack/Harding: I need to stress that the age difference is part of the hotness. Harding has his shit together, and Jack is INTO IT. Meanwhile, Harding is into the fact that Jack is so goddamn smart. Like, if this was regency era, they'd be married in two months. Just saying. It's an appreciation of competency.
Jack/Rosie: It's a "falls first" versus "fall hardest." Jack falls first because Rosie is a huge, cute dork. Rosie falls hardest but it takes SEVERAL MONTHS. Like, Jack punching him in the stomach for re-upping months.
Rosie/Harry/Jean: DomSub where Harry is the bratty sub, and Rosie and Jean take care of him. Harry fears after the war he won't get them both. But you dumbass. Those two fell in love talking about you and other things. Rosie is genuinely terrified to tell Harry he is also in love with Mrs. Jean Crosby because he doesn't want to overstep. He finally snaps and says it, and Harry is SO MAD. "What kind of dom are you that you stressed me out like this, you asshole?" / "Oh, you wanna find out what kind of dom I am?" / "No. I don't. I'm going home to MY WIFE, and then if you're lucky, I'll come back and fuck you." And it literally the most amazing moment of Robert's romantic life.
Bubbles/Buck: Ultracompetence loves ultracompetence. Also, Bubbles's accent soothes all of Buck's rough edges. Bubbles likes 'em tall and sweet, and would you look at that.

Does Cass know about Crosby’s air sickness? Cause I HC that she does and she decides to not tell John and then lives to regret it when she finds out he’s navigating for John when they’re hitting the Upens (?) in Norway in episode 2
I always assume Cass knows everything (within reason) and has little spies everywhere.
Let's start with Cass and Harry since we haven't really seen them interact. I imagine they get along because Harry is who he is and doesn't hide it and is keeping a smile on his face through this whole thing.
But just as we have discussed protective John, we HAVE TO discuss protective Cass. She is driven in her work extra knowing it effects John. She has to make sure her sources can be trusted. Doubles and triples checks everything before submitting her reports. Is adamant those are the right coordinates before even mentioning to someone she got them because in a sense her work points John in the direction he flies (also sappily John will always fly her direction because she is his home but I digress from my own metaphor).
In the fic, this mission is while she is in Berlin. So not only is she not there to make sure all the navigators have the right numbers and equations and to triple check their work but it is also John's first mission back after his demotion and she is in hostile territory trying to keep herself alive on his behalf.
I bet you she finds a way to thank Harry when she gets back. For taking care of her love while she was away and couldn't. And Harry get so blushy and explains how she did the hard work and that if John wasn't such a great pilot, he wouldn't have been here to thank her himself.
And when Cass hears that John basically navigatied himself back by doing math in his head while flying a plane and keeping his crew calm and leading a whole squadron of men? Well, damn. She just might let him say he loves her.

How a faceless force of Stormtroopers and the 501st Legion do good
https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/herocomplex/la-ca-hc-star-wars-stormtroopers-20151206-story.html
Tumblr media
By Jevon Phillips  |  Multiplatform Editor  |  Dec. 4, 2015
The worst of the Empire is on display tonight. Scads of white-costumed Stormtroopers, Imperial gunners, Death Star staff officers and TIE pilots fill the streets of Anaheim in a true show of force for the evil Galactic Empire. The crowd loves it. Stormtroopers stomp together as the “Imperial March” blasts through the speakers of a modified car. Bah-bah-bah-bum-bah-bum-bum-bah-bum. As if summoned by his own evil theme song, Darth Vader appears. Children rush to the Sith Lord and the most feared villain in the galaxy leans down and starts giving high-fives to kids and adults. The onlookers go mad.
Apparently it’s good to be bad.
You wouldn’t assume the club whose nickname is Vader’s Fist would be met with love and adoration across the country, but that’s just how far the 501st Legion has grown. What started as a Geocities website in 1997 for “Star Wars” fans has advanced into a worldwide charitable organization of cosplayers. They appear at hospitals, fan conventions and local parades. Most memorable perhaps was when the 501st overwhelmed the crowds at the 2007 Rose Parade as the stunning escort to Grand Marshal George Lucas.
The 501st is the fictional, Earth-side headquarters for the Empire. The most popular recruit for the 501st is the Stormtrooper.
“Something about the Stormtrooper is just elegant and iconic. There is strength there, and not the kind that carries with it the responsibilities of portraying a single character: This was the everyman character,” says Albin Johnson, creator of the 501st Legion.
Despite their charitable demeanor, the 501st is not your normal cosplay group; entry into the Legion is fairly rigorous for new recruits. First you have to submit a photo of yourself and your Imperial costume. The draftee must then pass a review by a membership officer who compares the images against an official requirements list for authenticity. Detail is key.
The military structure continues on down through the organization of the 501st. The groups of fans around the world are categorized as garrisons (25 members or more), outposts (one to 24) and squads (smaller collections that are usually part of a larger garrison).
For example, a local Los Angeles squad with 200 members belongs to the Southern California Garrison. There are 74 garrisons (some boasting more than 450 members) and 30 outposts across the globe (including an Aurora Borealis Alaskan Outpost) listed in the 501st database, found at www.501st.com.
But wait, there’s more. The reach of the 501st is as long and vast as the expansive “Star Wars” galaxy. Along with garrisons, outposts and squads, special detachments have been created. For example, there’s an Armored Cavalry Detachment that members of the Bounty Hunters Guild can belong to, all with their own insignias and command structures.
Still the questions remain: Why not start a rebel army? Why join up with the bad guys? Creator Johnson says one reason is the anonymous appeal. “The idea of the Stormtrooper is that they’re anonymous; anyone could be behind that mask. In some regards, without all the evil Empire stuff, they could be soldiers we know today — dedicated to service, strong, brave. The Stormtrooper gives us that archetype we can fill in any way we like,” Johnson says.
Plus the appeal of the charity work that continues to draw in more and more recruits. Larry Harris, walking in one of his first charity events in Anaheim, has been an Imperial Stormtrooper for only a few months. He decided to join after a couple of members assisted his family while waiting in the long lines at this year’s Star Wars Celebration. Their helpful attitudes, along with their devotion to charity work, convinced him to enlist and invest more than $2,000 in “A New Hope” Stunt Trooper uniform.
“The parades are fun and everything, but we’ve done a lot of charity work,” said Harris. “This is what it’s all about, the charity. As they say, we’re villains doing good.”
Commanding Officer of the Imperial Sands Garrison (San Diego region) Lesley Farquhar joined after months of researching both the group (and her costume). For her, the outings are not only fulfilling for her but help provide family bonding time as well. “My husband is also in the group. It’s something we enjoy sharing with each other and our children,” says Farquhar.
Southern California Garrison Executive Officer Lawrence Green joined the group after bonding with 501st members who were all working to assemble a three-quarter-scale replica of an X-wing fighter. Like many others, he is also a member of the Rebel Legion (which no one at the 501st seemed too bothered by, even though the Rebels and the Empire are mortal enemies). And he even constructed a mash-up suit that combines the dark and the light side of the Force, “My Luke-variant Stormtrooper armor came together in a marathon 20-hour assembly ‘whose-idea-was-this-I-believe-it-was-yours’ frenzy of coffee, snacks and swearing.”
Greg Miller, an Oregonian who drove down to Anaheim to walk in their fall parade, had wanted to join since the group came into existence. Now his “Star Wars” name is Dax Corrin, and he’s a full-fledged Imperial gunner, a member of the Cloud City Garrison in Portland.
Green and Miller are just two of the thousands of stories about why some people join the 501st. All individual tales, all eventually partaking in charitable acts, but many leading to becoming a faceless member of a generic yet iconic Stormtrooper nation. They may be the villains, but they’re also a source of inspiration.
The Legion doesn’t operate rogue from the mother ship; Lucasfilm recognizes the 501st as an official organization. “I would be lying to say I imagined this level of success for the Legion,” says Johnson. “The two things I hoped for came through beyond my wildest dreams: support from Lucasfilm and enthusiasm from fellow costumers. All of our success stems from those two factors.”
Lucas passed on his blessing by officially including the 501st in the canon of “Star Wars.” Novels “Survivor’s Quest” and “Fool’s Bargain” mention the 501st as Earth’s contingent in the Galactic Empire. “The Episode III Visual Dictionary” wraps the 501st into its compendium, and there’s also a mention in LucasArts’ “Star Wars Battlefront II” video game.
A further honor will come in the new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” film as a droid that the 501st Legion rallied around, R2-KT, is introduced on-screen. It is a bittersweet moment for Johnson since the pink and silver droid was created by a fellow “Star Wars” fan group, the R2 Builders’ club, to help his daughter Katie as she fought what turned out to be terminal cancer. When he found out about it, it was hard to contain his emotions.
“I almost cried. Maybe I did cry and I just can’t admit it. What a beautiful gesture. And again, Lucasfilm had everything to do with that. They know the story of our late daughter and her battle with cancer, and they were there every step of the way helping us,” says Johnson. “They know intimately what went into R2-KT’s birth and the R2 Builders’ generosity in making her. Our family just hugged and jumped for joy together knowing Katie’s legacy would live on in that galaxy far, far away.”
With all of the charity and smiles that the group has brought to others, it seems the Force may have returned a few.

I’m an expert in historical music so I know what sort of music the ghosts were listening to when they were alive. Pat and Julian alive soundtrack would be pop and rock based, Thomas would be classical based while Kitty would be baroque and Captain Swing (Glenn Miller) based. I really want Fanny’s soundtrack to have some ragtime elements but still mostly classical.
oh for sure! i personally really love the idea of pat being into groups like the byrds, simon & garfunkel, the beach boys, billy joel, any of the big pop divas... and the timeline doesn’t quite matchup as i think pat would’ve been college aged by the time the song was released (1963), but the image of him loving “hello muddah, hello fadduh” and then growing ever exasperated with it as he becomes older and a cub scout(?) leader is hilarious to me.
for julian, since he’s from the early 90s i think his music taste would be a bit more blended? imo there were a lot of one hit wonders that i’d think he’d love, and i can also see him being into depeche mode pretty easily. perhaps even bands like the clash or thin lizzy? i can also see kylie minogue being a slight guilty pleasure, but when pat hears that they just start unironically jamming out (that living in the 80s solidarity) while thomas is there in the background falling in love with her yet again (and the lyrics of her songs).
speaking of thomas! there’s not a lot of room for the regency era to line up with it... but regardless, he’d totally be into romantic era music. full stop. in my personal hc tho, his faves would be chopin, liszt, tchaikovsky and saint-saëns. (it is also my hc that he goes to see them perform any chance possible because they’re muses for his writing).
as for kitty, i can definitely see that! and the classical era itself! she would be a total fangirl for mozart and schubert.
swing music is one of my faves so excuse the extreme nerding... but Y E S. glenn miller, benny goodman, tommy dorsey, harry james, the andrews sisters, ella fitzgerald, louis armstrong, vera lynn, bing crosby. just. everybody. i’m sure that music was a great way to escape from the horrors of war for cap, and he’d listen to anything and everything to get his mind off the battlefield. maybe he’d even go dancing. (bonus points if you catch my ref lolololololol)
i can definitely see fanny forming a bond with thomas and kitty over a shared love of classical music, and dvorak & stravinsky did do a few ragtime songs! however tho, i highkey think that the day cap introduced fanny to fred astaire is a day that she’ll never ever forget.
for robin, it’s already been established that he likes glenn miller as well, so i think there’s a bond to be formed for him & cap. and as random as this is gonna sound, i think he’d be into gregorian chant music. it’s calming. or alternatively... he is the oldest. he probably helped invent music! he can and will and has listen(ed) to ANY 👏🏻 THING 👏🏻
unfortunately for humphrey, his era of history isn’t one i’m too familiar with, but i imagine he liked whatever music would be playing in court. the renaissance era of music is centuries long... there’s a ton of stuff he could love.
