Since Roald Dahl and other authors are being updated to be more woke and not hurt any feelings I'm wondering if the story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. should be updated too-
"THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else."
Does it have enough representation? Will children be able to see themselves in it? Does the word God offend too many people? No one in the story is described as being a person of color or trans or being body positive.

Seems counterintuitive to me but I am not an expert and it's not my community... > Oregon again says students don’t need to prove mastery of reading, writing or math to graduate, citing harm to students of color #oreo #banana #codeswitch #equity #harrisonbergeron

Over the last few years, I’ve dressed up as quite a few different characters. I’m doing a monthly blog and this month’s is entitled “Playing Pretend”. In it, I chronicle many of the different persons and characters that I’ve “dressed up as” over the years. I write about what each of those characters means to me. This blog was partly inspired by a quote by Kurt Vonnegut: “We are who we pretend to be, so we must be careful about who we pretend to be” When I read that, I felt like I should try to reflect on who I’ve “pretended to be” over the last few years. This blog required some major soul-searching 😅. I hope you check it out. The link to it is in my bio. . . . #kurtvonnegut #wearewhowepretendtobe #playingpretend #kurtvonnegutjr #musicblog #musicblogger #indieblog #indieblogger #indiebloggers #davidfosterwallace #joker #thejoker #tarwater #harrisonbergeron #fictionisreal #changeyourstory #truthinfiction #hiphopblog #musicanalysis #characteranalysis #mystory #mystoryisntoveryet #discoveringmyself #findingmyself #flanneryoconnor #whenfictionbecomesreality #imaginationiseverything #imaginationispower #rapblog #rapblogs https://www.instagram.com/p/CXQ5bHQrzXn/?utm_medium=tumblr

Her yönden eşitlerdi. . . #akilfikirgezegeni https://www.instagram.com/p/CRhKyzMDsJv/?utm_medium=tumblr

This is clearly the direction of Harrison Bergeron, with a racial twist; the decision was cleraly raist and harmful to all students.

Insights about the tags on this terrible site
Ok, so it looks like you can just do one tag?
Like if you put in other hashtags it becomes one long tag instead of being multitags?
This site’s arbitrary restrictions curtail my incredible creative process.
You are all lucky
Editor’s Note:
I eventually figured out “the kinks to the system” this site is still bad and it turns all y'all into bad people.
You are drawn by it’s beautiful siren’s song only to crash your ship on the rocky coastline of the little island we call narcissism.

There are twelve worksheets and graphic organizers in this package, which also include Internet research. Our students are digital kids who were born into a world so unlike the past. Technology integration in education is not the only venture we are experiencing. Technology has become so much a part of us that we cannot determine where our physical selves end and technology begins. In "Harrison Bergeron," technology is used to control the citizens. This short story was considered a blend of science fiction and satire. However, we ought to encourage our students to think about the reality of science fiction. This package contains thought-provoking activities centered, not only on the plot of the story but, also, on how technology plays out in the plots of our own life stories. *******Link in bio to acquire resource. #vonnegut #harrisonbergeron #cyborg #satireandsciencefiction #sciencefiction #technologyinourlives #technologyincontrol #dystopianliterature #handicappedbytechnology #dramaticsituation

The year was 2023 and everyone was spending more time arguing why Harrison Bergeron should be banned than it would have taken to read it https://archive.org/details/HarrisonBergeron/Harrison%20Bergeron/

Today we are going to challenge ourselves to create a quiz based on our learning using the app Kahoot. We have been reading and discussing the short story "Harrison Bergerion" by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. So this challenge will be directly related to this story and its content. I want to have this learning-based experience with all of you.
When an educator designs a quiz, they are looking to reinforce information to ensure students are prepared for the summative assessment at the end of a lesson. Having students involved in the learning process helps students to learn to self-assess. While addressing questions you have, as a class we are also addressing questions our peers might have as well. So, each of our group tables will be creating a list of questions working together to make a strong quiz utilizing the Kahoot app.
I know sometimes we go over information very fast and, I would like to address questions we might have or learning that was not covered well enough in class. I will then add some of the content we discuss to a quiz in Kahoot and we will take the quiz tomorrow. I will ask for suggestions for questions from all of you and we will discuss the suggestions and answers before they are applied to the quiz. Hopefully, this quiz will then prepare all of you for the final assessment in this lesson.
First, I want all of us to put our critical thinking caps on.
What does it take to make a strong question for a quiz, and how do we make a quiz challenging but achievable?
What questions do each individual have and what teammates have the same question? What dose it mean when multiple students have the same question?
What is self-assessment? Why is it important to self-assess?
If we did not review information in small quizzes before a large final what would the outcome be?
How important is teamwork when working in groups? What is the difference between teamwork and group work?
Here is a link to the story so you have access to the meterial directly.

When teams are finished with their questions Post the here on the tumbler feed with your group # so everyone can see the questions and review that information. You will have 1 and a 1/2 hours to complete this task.
Please consider this rubric while your working because you will be grading your selves and your group as another form of self-assessment.
