Sailfly-X MOD
すんばらしい飛びで人気のHappymodel Sailfly-Xですが、ちょっとしたことですぐ壊れるという問題が。まあToothpickというだけあっていろいろ削ぎ落として軽量化しているので仕方ない面はあるのですが、飛行性能が素晴らしいだけについつい無茶をしてしまい、クラッシュ→破損というパターンが多いようです。人ごとみたいに言ってますが私もそうですw でもってまず問題その1がフレーム脆すぎ問題。特にモーターマウントのビス穴とモーターシャフト逃げ穴の間がコンマ数ミリしかなく、フレームを壊した人の多くがここを折っています。

モーター保護のためか外側に2つ突起があるのですが、ここにかかった応力は全てビス穴脇のフレームに伝わるわけですから、そこがこれだけ細ければそりゃ折れます。モーター外径と同じ形状にしてくれれば良かったと思うのですが、重心位置から一番遠い部分なので運動性のために軽量化したかったのかも知れません。
で、その改善策として不細工ですがこんな感じにしてみました。

ドラえもんの手かw プラ板を適当な形に切ってタイラップで縛り付けています。クラッシュ時にはここが壊れるか飛んでいくことにより多少なりともショックを吸収してくれるんじゃないかという目論見。 大きい方が保護には役立ちそうですがプロペラのもろ直下なのであまり大きくすると推力に障ります。ビス穴脇をもうちょっとだけ太くしておいてくれればこんな非効率なことはしなくて済むのに…。 重量はタイラップ含めて1セット0.46gなので4個で1.84g。軽量なToothpickの重心位置から最も遠い部分への重量増ですので、推力への影響と併せてそれなりに飛行特性が変わるかも知れません。
そしてその2はなんでBECすぐに死んでしまうん?問題。
この機体はちょっとしたクラッシュでもBEC(FCに5Vを供給するDC-DCコンバータもしくは降圧レギュレータ)が壊れます。ここは改修前の画像を撮り忘れました。改修後がこれ。

スミマセン、すっごくわかりにくいと思いますが、この段差の部分がフレームとBECの隙間です。ノギスで計ったところこの状態で1mmです。実際どういう改修をしたかというと…。

フレームにナイロンボルトを留めているナットを1mm厚のものから2mm厚のものに変更しました。このナットはFCをマウントするゴムブッシュとのスペーサーも兼ねているので、この厚みプラスゴムブッシュの下部分がFC表面とフレームとのクリアランスになります。BECはFC表面から出っ張っているのでクリアランスはその分狭くなるというわけ。
で、1mm厚のナットを2mm厚のナットに替えた後でフレームとBECのクリアランスが1mmしかないということは…。そう、元々のクリアランスが「ほぼゼロ」だったのです。そりゃ腹打てば即壊れるわw
というわけでひとまず改修は終了。 天気が悪いのでまだ飛ばしていませんが、一応壊れにくくはなっているはず…。飛行特性への影響がどうなるか、ですね。 その他の問題としてはコントラストが酷くて曇りの日にとっても見えにくいカメラとかありますが、それはまた別の機会に。
