Thank you all!

A warm thank you to all those who helped make Kisouna's birthday a good one. She was greatly appreciative. Be sure to keep an eye out for both SC and JST's anniversaries coming up (hopefully) next week, and Aranai's birthday coming up next month!

Kisouna is sitting down in her office in her home, writing in the prayer journal that Shisuta gifted her early today. The neck massager she was presented is still around her neck, vibrating softly. The lawyer has a focused look on her face, but as she comes to the last line in the paragraph she is writing, she sighs and places her pen down next to her journal. She then turns to look at the screen.

"My apologies. Shisuta gifted me this, but the more I try to put my thoughts on paper, the more I dislike what I wrote. I mean, I know no one else will read them, but... well, I suppose that is simply the perfectionist in me. In any case, I'd like to thank all those who sent me gifts on today. It was very nice and appreciative. I don't celebrate birthdays often, but I'm always glad when they come around. Thank you all again."

She bows to the camera, before standing up and leaving the office, turning the light off behind her.

Darkness casted over the city of Ueno as Kisouna Yuzairu’s birthday was drawing to a close.

However, there was still one little surprise left waiting just for the special lady.

Placed outside her doorstep was a small present with a little letter addressed to her. No longer surprised after the stream of presents that were delivered to her that day, she brought inside the present that just barely fit into her hand.

Before she undid the ribbon that held the little box together, she read through the open letter that was addressed to her.

“Happy Birthday,

I don’t know how well you remember, but you helped me out a bunch just two years ago, and even more recently. Much as I don’t wanna admit it, you did pretty much save me and I’m grateful for that, I do appreciate it. Ew, I don’t like talking like this, so just enjoy your present, Kay?

— Makina Setsukura (from Akihabara Division, if that’ll ring a bell to you)”

Inside the gift box was a scented candle that smelled like honey, lemon, and chamomile.

Cocking an eyebrow at the logo on the candle, Kisouna, who at first frowned, had to admit that the label was slightly humorous. Of course, she wasn't going to keep in around her house (Heaven knows what would happen if Yomi happened to see this). But she would take it to her office tomorrow and light it there.

Reading the card again, the attorney tried to recall when exactly she had helped Setsukura-chan. Of course, Kisouna knew who she was. The last name was a major hint. She was apparently a big celebrity in Akihabara who made a living as a streamer.

"Still..." Kisouna thought. "When exactly did I meet her and what exactly did I help her with?"

The lawyer put a finger to her forehead, a thing she often did when she was thinking hard about something and trying to recall something from her memory banks. Some people didn't understand the gesture, but it was something Kisouna picked up from her late husband. He did it so much, she started copying it until it became a part of her.

However, no matter how hard she thought, no memory of Makina or her court case came to mind.

"I'll have to look her up in the archives tomorrow at work." Kisouna thought. "At the very least, I can send her a note saying 'thank you' for this."

It was well into the evening when Kisouna Yuzairu received a couple of gifts in the mail, this wasn't all that surprising considering it was the Lawyer's birthday today but Kisouna was still getting used to being in the limelight, an all guaranteed deal when you're in the DRB.

After retrieving said gifts, she placed them on the table and took a gander at them, one gift was wrapped in pink and ref wrapping paper while the other was wrapped in black and gold. Deciding on opening the pink one first, which inside revealed to be...

A pink neck massager! Along side was card with a message written inside.

'Happy Birthday, Kisouna-san!

I hope you're having a very good day! I heard from some coworkers of mine that it was your birthday today and I really wanted to get you something, I remember Shisuta telling me that you've been having some neck pains so I got you this neck massager! I hope you like it and I hope it helps you! Again, happy birthday and let's get together and talk sometime! Yoshiko would love to play with Yomi!

Smiling at the card, Kisouna set it down and moved onto the next present, which revealed to be...

A personalized crystal sculpture depicting the scales of justice with her name just right below it! Much like with the neck massager, this gift also came with a card with a message.

'A very happy birthday to you, Yuzairu-san.

I know it's quite hypocritical of me to say this but I hope you're taking it easy today, after all, you do so much for this country and get very little recognition. But enough of that, I do hope my gift is satisfactory, if you're wondering, yes, that is an actual crystal, don't worry about the cost, just know that your efforts are appreciated. Happy birthday, once again

Kisouna sighed as she was sitting in her living room on the sofa, reading a book. The massager from Sayaka was around her neck, vibrating softly as it released the tension in the lawyer's neck that she didn't know she previously had. She blamed the chair in her office for her frequent neck pains. Though it gave her a professional look, it put a lot of strain on her upper back and neck, especially when she was forced to sit in it for long periods of time when she had to meet with a client.

Looking up, she looked as her daughter, Yomi, was watching cartoons on her iPad, which put a small smile on the lawyer's face. She remembered what Miho had written on the card she had sent to her, along with the crystal sculpture that she would put in her office at work tomorrow.

"Criminals don't get days off, but..." Kisouna thought. "...one day off from work won't hurt."

The sun was beginning to set on the division of Ueno and Kisouna Yuzairu was in her home relaxing when she heard her front doorbell ring. Singing Kisouna got up from her position and went to open the door. There on her doorstep were 2 boxes, both of which were addressed to her. Kisouna knowing these were for her birthday, leaned down to pick them up and brought the gifts inside. Setting them down Kisuona opened the closest one to her first.

Inside the first gift was a white and silver cake with a silver scale of justice on it. Seeing there was also a card the attorney picked it up and began to read.

Kisouna-san,

Happy Birthday! Aranai-senpai said it was your birthday so I hope you enjoy the cake I made you!

Inside the second gift was a black leather work briefcase with a cherry blossom design on it. Seeing a note alongside the gift Kisouna picked it up and began to read.

Happy Birthday. Hopefully, you find yourself in good health today. I assume you’ll get good work of the gift I sent you. Use it well.

"Awesome!" Aranai, who was sitting in Kisouna's living room, along with Shisuta, yelled as she saw the birthday cake in Kisouna's hands. "I knew Kanra wouldn't disappoint when it came to making a cake."

"That was very nice of both Kanra-chan and Seiji-san." Shisuta said, looking at the cake and the briefcase her friend had been gifted.

"Yes," Kisouna said, said looking at the cake. "I have to admit, this cake looks and feels rather well-made."

"Right, you sure that's not just because the figure on it resembles the speaker from your HypMic?" Aranai asked, with a smirk.

"That may have something to do with it, yes." Kisouna answered, not denying it.

"Can we have some now, mommy?!" Yomi, Kisouna's daughter, asked, her eyes sparkling at the cake.

"After dinner, sweetie. We don't want to spoil your appetite." Kisouna answered.

"Aww!" Yomi pouted.

"Don't worry, kiddo." Aranai said, rubbing Yomi's head. "I'll make sure she leaves you the biggest piece."

"Yay!"

"Do not corrupt my daughter, Aranai."

"Haha."

The first gift is a new leather briefcase and a little lot of books with a card

A bit intrigued if why the musician could gift her something, perhaps for their conversation a week ago about Nellie's where Kisouna found something new about the journalist...(beside that Eden is one of his adoptive son)

Kisouna looked at the briefcase that Nellie had left her. To be honest, she had been needing a new briefcase for the longest. The one she currently had was actually a gift from her sister that she had given her after she had passed her bar exam to become a lawyer, meaning it was approximately seven years old. Though she didn't want to part with it, even she had to admit that it was slowly getting on in years. In lieu of throwing it away, she decided that she could at least keep it in her office as a reminder.

Putting the new bag over her shoulder, the lawyer had to smile at how it felt. She caught a glimpse of the shine of her new bracelet as it glistened in the light. Nodding, liking how the bag felt, she decided: this would be her new briefcase.

"I'll have to be sure to thank Nellie-san and his son for this," Kisouna thought as she began with the task of emptying out her old bag.
