•Manduk collects Hello Kitty stuff in secret, only Eugene knows about it.

•Gun and Goo are constantly fighting over exclusive designer clothing.

•Xiao Long uses rice water to grow hair.

•Ryuhei pays a lot of attention to the people around him, even being able to understand a lot about them, but he prefers to act annoyingly.

• Vasco is always mistaken for a thief or troublemaker when he tries to help people in public.

• Once Gimyung and Seong fell asleep leaning against each other and then Shinwoo called all of Big Deal to see them, like a doting mother with her small babies.

• Kenta has horrible nightmares about Jonggun.

• Seong Eun also suffers a bit when trying to help people, mostly because he's insecure and ends up thinking too much before helping people, but he tends to be very kind when he's away from anything related to the conflicts in his life.

•Goo is allergic to many things.

• Vasco is afraid of Annabelle after he tried to see the movie with BumJae.

• Hyungsuk always tried to eat snacks during training with Gun, but Gun confiscated them and ate them in front of Hyung.

• DG pays Korean gossip sites to cover up the shit he does.

South Korea Announces Construction of Enormous Futuristic Spokeless Ferris Wheel

South Korea has announced that it will be building the world's largest hubless Ferris wheel. The futuristic structure is called Seoul Ring, and it's set to go up in Haneul Park. The location will mean that guests will get a sweeping view of Seoul's Hangang River. Set to be completed by 2025, the Ferris wheel is a major tourism investment in the city.

Outing on Monday, 02.01.2023 Met up with my longtime American friend who's been living in Korea for 10 years to walk from Sookmyeong Woman's University Station to Haneul Park along the Han River - but kinda overestimated the distance and it was pretty windy that day <_< So we took the subway from Gwangheungchang station to the World Cup stop and then walked along Haneul Park.

one thing about ptj's writing that always leaves a bad taste in my mouth is sometimes i feel he doesn't completely grasp the issues of abuse and sexual trauma, mostly and majorly for the female characters, but the male characters too.

take for example mira getting sexually assaulted by the cult leader and camp instructor, zoe's transaction with logan, club vivi, vin'mom being raped and killed by the shaman, sujin being abused and preyed upon and sexually assaulted before getting beaten to death by taejin... ALL of this feels so catatonic, almost unnecessary in its cruelty. this is a horrible world no doubt. but whatever he inflicts to his female characters seems to be done purely for the sake of shock value, almost like an indelible grief or hurt or helplessness a MALE character has to overcome in his path to nirvana. it is never shown what the woman feels about her own violation, no impact of it can be seen on her own life before she dies or simply forgets and moves on (kinda telling of the author's attitude towards how victims ought to react...).

then lets talk about the male victims. daniel gets stalked, goo and gun and eli were all minors who trained under a man who unironically touches people's genitals and brags about doing so, olly gets raped, eli gets groomed (i will not argue here about this one), sinu is shown naked often with the woman who brainwashed him. not mentioned in the comic but should be pondered upon is the fact that jake and jiho were in juvenile prison, a place with alarmingly high rates of sex crimes. dg is an idol who deals with invasive fans (sasaengs in real life are legitimately terrifying). seongji and vin were the ritual vessels for a cult. but this aspect of their trauma gets completely brushed under the rug, as if even alluding to it would take away from their strength and uhhh, masculine nature.

Just when I thought I couldn't love the show more than I already do. Episode 8's ending was just so... SO realistic. In any other drama, I would have been absolutely done and tired because of the same old cliché breakup, but what made me really appreciate the one here (although we all are hurting BECAUSE WHEN WILL OUR PARENTS GET TO BE HAPPY 😭) is probably attributed to the fact that both of their characters are SO exceptionally well-written. They're not flat, 2D characters. They're not just "nerdy and studious" and "goofy and unserious". They feel so 3D, their struggles, their attributes, their personalities all feel so human. And the way the writers and everyone involved actually took their mental issues seriously and not just for the sake of making them "appear sad and pitiful" is something I genuinely appreciate so much. In like, SO many of the media I have consumed, the "sad and depressed" characters suddenly become so happy and perfectly fine when they find their true love. But is it really that easy? Has it always been that simple? If I were to answer that from personal experience, I'd say the obvious. It has never been that easy. Depression has never been just dealing with loneliness that gets resolved as soon as one finds the love of their life. The never-ending internal struggles, the overthinking, getting anxious when they're feeling happy for even a moment, the uncertainty of it all— the writers have done it and so did Park Shin Hye in portraying all of it so, so well. "Communication would have solved it!" In normal situations, yes. But in their case? Opening up and coming to terms with their struggles takes an immense amount of courage and I'm GLAD both of them understood it and are giving each other the space and time they rightfully need. Oh I could go on and on about just how much I love Doctor Slump and it's beautiful script, aside from the immaculate acting and top-notch humour and cinematography.
